Restore Macbook pro Retina 13' to factory settings

Hello ,
I need some help, i want to restore my mac to factory settings, now i already have a backup for all my data
I 1st tried a internet recovery and i got a message saying "unable to verify info." (or something like that) contact apple care."
I then took my mac to an apple store for help. They re-installed OS for me.
But it comes with their settings and now i cant even connect to the internet. (which i have no idea why that is).
And to make things a little harder for me im currently in Thailand, and i dont speak Thai,
So language is a BIG barrier :-( . i know if i was in the States i can get it fix in 2 seconds!
But thats not the case.
Thank you for your time ! I do appreciate any help.
Rocknrolla, ;-)

Hello
Well i tried both the recovery hd and and the internet recovery none work for me.
and yes i mean is working, but im having difficulties with everything imessage wont work because it still has this other user's information i tried changing it .. i did and now i cant acces my imessage account from my itouch 5th.
same with mail app. wont load it says my apple id is registered to a different mac.
now i have to use gmail app for my mail instead .. :-(
iphoto wont even open because it says "library not located please restore library"... (i tried getting my pictures there it says it doesnt recongize it)
dont get me started with iCloud. its just not working.
i justs want to see the "Welcome" intro on the screen like if this mac was brand new. so i can get the right settings from the beggining.
plus my app store software (apperture, final cut, microsoft word, keynote, pages, the list goes on and on..)
i can download them with my apple id. but then i cant run them cause it says they are registered with another mac.
and i need all this for work. :-( ...
but oh well ... perhaps you are right is because of the ISP... for this country....
i'll try to find way around all this if i can not restore it to factory settings then.
Thanks for your time :-)
Rocknrolla.

  • Restore macbook pro back to the factory settings, Snow Leopard, then back to Mavericks

If I restore my macbook pro back to the factory settings with the OS X install disc, it came with Snow Leopard.  Would I have to pay to go back to Mavericks OS?

If you have Mavericks now, why not just boot into the Recovery partition, erase the disk with Disk Utility, and reinstall Mavericks? Command and R at boot should get you to the Recovery partition.

  • What is the impact of restoring a MacBook Pro from 2009 to factory settings

I am concerned about all upgrades since original purchase as well as a verison of Office 2008 - all of which I intend to keep.

MacBook Pros are notebooks, Mac Pros are desktops.
Office 2008 was not prebundled with any Mac operating system in full release.   There are some Test Drive office releases that were released at times.   You'll have to find either your download direct from Microsoft, or CD from Microsoft to reinstall Office 2008.   Some have had difficulty with Office 2008 installer running on Mac OS X 10.7 or later.   You can try OpenOffice, LibreOffice, Zoho Docs as alternatives if all you do is Excel, Word, and Powerpoint.   Some Exchange servers require Microsoft's own e-mail program, while others work fine with Mac OS X Mail.   Your best bet is to backup your system at least twice before doing any restore to factory settings.

  • Macbook Pro unable to reinstall factory settings

My macbook pro started running slow so I decided to restart it.  When restarted it I could get it to go past the apple screen and the load bar.  I didnt have my files backed up so I decided that I would just try to restore it back to the factory settings.  Everytime that I try to do this I am getting an error message.  I have verified the drives and apparently theres an issue with my hard drives.  Please advise as to how I can reset the hard drive back to the factory settings and avoid the error messages that I have been getting.  My mac book has always performed well.  The only thing that I can think of that may be causing this issue is the fact that I installed a game from the app store called Capitalism 2.  Please advise.

We cannot help you without knowing what the error message was and what version of OS X is installed. If it said the drive cannot be repaired or that you must backup all your files and reinstall, then here's what you would usually do:
Install or Reinstall Mavericks or Mountain Lion from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
OS X Mavericks- Erase and reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Erase and reinstall OS X
OS X Lion- Erase and reinstall Mac OS X
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.
If you are using Snow Leopard then do this instead:
    Clean Install of Snow Leopard
Be sure to make a backup first because the following procedure will erase
the drive and everything on it.
         1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc or the Disc 1 that came
with your computer.  Insert the disc into the optical drive and restart the computer.
After the chime press and hold down the  "C" key.  Release the key when you see
a small spinning gear appear below the dark gray Apple logo.
         2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue
button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive
size.)  Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.  Set the number of
partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, click on Options button
and select GUID, click on OK, then set the format type to MacOS Extended
(Journaled, if supported), then click on the Apply button.
         3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed
with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.
         4. When the installation has completed your computer will Restart into the Setup
Assistant. Be sure you configure your initial admin account with the exact same
username and password that you used on your old drive. After you finish Setup
Assistant will complete the installation after which you will be running a fresh
install of OS X.  You can now begin the update process by opening Software
Update and installing all recommended updates to bring your installation current.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.

You can use either the HDD recover or the Recovery disk.
If HDD recover does not work and if you dont have the disk then you could order this here:

  • How do I restore my MacBook Pro running Lion to factory settings? I don't want to keep anything on the hard drive.

I am running Lion and know how to get to my Mac OS X Utilities but I cannot figure out how to do a full factory setting restart like I have done the past with the OS disks. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Use disk utility to format your hard drive then reinstall Mac OS X 10.7.2 (Lion) on to the hard drive.

  • Restore Macbook Air mid-2012 to Factory Settings for Sale

    Greetings from Brazil!
I am about to sell mey macbook air. It came with OS X Mountain Lion. So I would like to reset everything, update the Mac Os X Lion, install some apps and, when I hand over the computer to the new owner, I would like him to get the Assitant Set Up experience. Is there a way to do it?
    Thank you!

It should, but the bottom comment may be easier.
[kirkmc adds: I'm running this hint because it contains a lot of useful information. But I wonder why one can't simply erase the hard disk and re-run the installer to get everything back to its initial state. That seems a lot easier to me…]

  • Restoring MacBook Pro WITHOUT System Restore CD?

Hello, I'm wondering how to restore my MacBook Pro to it's factory settings without the Restore CD/DVD. I have moved many times since I brought my laptop and subsequently have misplaced the CDs, I only have the OS X Leopard Install CD which I got some time ago.
How can I do this? Can Apple provide me with these restore CDs??
    Thanks!
    Will

Can Apple provide me with these restore CDs??
Unless it is too old, calling AppleCare can usually get those CDs. There will usually be a fee for them.
Your Leopard installer disc will only work on MacBook Pros older than the disc, and that's assuming it looks like * and does not say DropIn, OEM, or Upgrade.
iLife prebundled with Leopard is limited:

  • Screen Sharing issues MacBook Pro Retina

Loving my brand spanking new MacBook Pro Retina 15" running Mavericks. Display set to 1900x1200. The only thing it doesn't do, is play full screen YouTube video from my Mac Mini (2011), as soon as I put that in full screen mode on the Mini. Mouse and keyboard no longer respond, the only option is to wait untill it is finished or use the controls on the Mini. My screen sharing is set to all adaptive settings.
What I have done to do checks:
    remote control MacBook Pro Retina from Mini (same settings for screen sharing, resolution on Mini is 1080p) and play full screen HD YouTube video: no issues, scaling works flawlessly;
    check all network settings on both computer - no issues, both connecting full speed (400mpbs), wireless file exchange proves this;
    reinstalled Mavericks both on the macbook and Mini;
    removed all plists and preferences on both machines;
saved files to external HD, emptied harddrives, and clean installed Mavericks on both(!) computers
Installed all updates to december 12th 2013 (including the december screen sharing update).
All to no avail. So I figured to draw some new variables in the equasion and do some control testing.
I have done a test from an older MacBook Pro 17" (2010), display set to 1900x1200 as well. No problem at all controlling either computer. Scaling works flawlessly. Dito from an older iMac 21" running Mountain Lion. Like a charm, correctly scaling to meet the screen and network confitions.
So I figured shrinking the size of the application window on the MacBook to about 1/4 of the surface, and guess what: there she flies. Enlarging the application window on the MacBook Pro has a linear effect on the responsiveness of the screen sharing application, trying to view full screen video the Mini.
Verified this by controlling the older MacBook Pro 17" (1920x1200) from the MacBook Pro Retina 15". Confirmed that the above problems persist. Shrinking the screen again smoothens things out.
This quite definite to me, it is the screen sharing application that is not able to handle scaling on the hardware or interact with the software drivers of the Intel Iris Pro/NVidia GeForce GT750M combo. I hope this gets fixed soon!!

Setting Low Res on the apps didn't seem to help, however (as has been mentioned elsewhere) changing the display settings to non-HDPI does fix it, for GoToMeeting at least.  (Also it let's you appreciate how nice the retina display is, in case you've already gotten used to it!)
You need an app for that however.  SetResX from http://www.sendspace.com/file/mef6sk works well for me.  To return to nice Retina/HDPI mode you have to go back to Display Preferences (and the "Show in Menu Bar" option for Display Preferences is sadly AWOL in Retina/Lion so you have to navigate through System Preferences.)

  • Macbook pro retina gets extremely hot!

    Hey guys,
I have a Macbook Pro Retina with all the settings on max (see below). I like to play games like Diablo 3 and World of Warcraft howvere when I open these up my macbook starts going crazy! The fans all turn on and the CPU get extremely hot! I mean like 92°C hot! I opened up activity monitor and found out that when running World of Warcraft it used 140-160% of the CPU (which of course in impossible!!).
Thanks in advance for any advise!

    Macbook Pro 15-inch Retina:
Processor  2.7 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory  16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics  Intel HD Graphics 4000 512 MB
Please comment with any further questions and I will try to get you any information!

    A few things:
    1. All macbook pros get hot (retina and non-retina).  Folks here will tell you that the system will slow down (or in extreme cases shutdown) to protect the hardware.  I find this concerning but it is what it is...
    2. Games can use multiple cores which is why you are seeing > 100%
    3. 92 celcius is hot but within the operating parameters from what I have seen
    4. Some folks use stands (anything from purchased stands to pencils) to lift the computer off of the underlying surface to allow for improved circulation.
    Hope this helps.
