  • Can't access site mailbox- Exchange 2013

    Hi
    Please I have been refered to the Exchange 2013 forum Support team by the SharePoint Team to resolve a complex issue that is unfortunately taking quite some time to resolve. I currently manage a Sharepoint 2013 environment. I have a requirement
    to configure and enable the creation of site mailboxes.
    So, I have Sharepoint 2013 installed on A.contoso.com which has all the user accounts( Account Forest). As a means of using the Sharepoint 2013 site mailbox feature, another domain( resource domain) called B.contoso.com has been created. Exchange 2013 has
    been setup on B.contoso.com. All the lengthy services on Sharepoint and Exchange 2013 have been configured. A two way trust has been established between both domains. I am able to access resources both ways. On the other hand, when ever I or a user tries to
    access a site mailbox it prompts that a mailbox has been created and then takes you to the OWA page of which login credentials don't work. I'm having to now create a linked mailbox and specify the users account in the accounts domain in order to enable a user
    login to the created site mailbox. Furthermore, When, I access Exchange management Center I don't see the site mailboxes listed. I only see the linked mailboxes for the account holders. I am only able to view the site mailboxes through powershell.
    Please, I would appreciate it if anyone can help.
    Dominic

    looks as if there are not many exhange 2013 experts around. Please could you someone look into my question.

  • Journaling mailbox - Exchange 2013 Migrations from 2010

    hi guys
    i am about to start mailbox movement from Exchange 2010 to 2013. my setup is working fine. i have enabled journaling from Exchange 2010 and as ii found, automatically journaling rules will be reflected to exchange 2013. i had very big journaling mailbox
    and then newly created New Exchange 2010 journaling mailbox. now new journaling mailbox is configured for journaling and that also still on 2010(both Old and new journaling mailbox ), new mailx is couple of weeks old (6-8 GB) and old one is 2.6 TB. So i will
    move old one at the end .
    my questions is if i move new journaling mailbox to 2013 before start normal Mailboxes, it will cause some issues for journaling. i use premium journaling . is it okay to move journaling mailbox at the begin ??
    thank you
    Indunil

    Hi,
    Based on my test, journal rules will be synchronized in Exchange 2013 after you create in Exchange 2010. If you create in Exchange 2013, then the rule will be synchronized in Exchange 2010.
    And I did create a rule to send message to a Exchange 2013 jounal mailbox for Exchange 2010 users. It worked.
    So you can migrate journal mailbox to Exchange 2013 firstly based on this test.

  • How do i connect manually to Exchange 2013 from Outlook 2007/2010 in another forest?

    Hello All,
    I have a source organization: Windows 2003 domain + Exchange 2010 SP3 + smtp domain acme.com
    Target organization: Winows 2012 R2 domain + Exchange 2013 CU3 + smtp domain  acme.com
    We are migrating to target organization.
    I want to connect Outlook 2007/2010 to their target mailbox (Exchange 2013) from a machine which is joined to Source DOmain.
    I couldn't use autodiscover, because as the machine is joined to source domain, autodiscover it's mapping to Exchange 2010.
    It only works when I machine is joined to target domain.
    Any idea how to connect manually to eXCHANGE 2013 mailbox from a machine which is joined to source domain?
    Regards
    José Osorio

    Hi,
    Firstly, I’d like to explain, Autodiscover service can be used cross forest:
    1. the two forests must be trusted.
    2. configure a mail contact in the original forest.
    For more information, please refer to the partition named how to configure the Autodiscover service for cross-forest moves in the following article:

  • Autodiscover after deploying Exchange 2013 CAS in a Exchange 2007 organization

    I am deploying Exchange 2013 CAS in a Exchange 2007 organization. Will all the clients be directed to the Exchange 2013 CAS servers for autodiscover. Will there be any issue with outlook clients connecting to their mailbox servers in Exchange 2007

    All clients should be pointed to the Exchange 2013 CAS for the autodiscover service. This means:
    A. For local clients
    You need to modify the autodiscover Internal URI on the Exchange 2007 server and point it to Exchange 2013. For example, if you are using split-brain DNS on the Local Network and mail.yourdomain.com is resolved to Exchange 2013 local IP, the Exchange 2007
    Autodiscover Internal URI should be "https://mail.yourdomain.com/Autodiscover/Autodiscover.xml"
    Exactly the same way, you should modify the Exchange 2013 Autodiscover Internal URI and use the same address "https://mail.yourdomain.com/Autodiscover/Autodiscover.xml"
    B. For remote clients - all clients will hit the Exchange 2013 CAS first (ex. mail.yourdomain.com)
    If the user's mailbox is on Exchange 2007 server, the correct XML will be generated and provided, and the user will be proxied for Outlook Anywhere/ActiveSync and redirected for OWA/WebServices
    If the user's mailbox is on Exchange 2013 server, the correct XML will be generated and provided
    Bottom line - based on the location of the user's mailbox, Exchange 2013 will generate and provide the correct XML file (there is not proxying involved in providing the Autodiscover info).

  • Exchange 2013 mailbox restore fails cannot open mailbox microsoft system attendant

    I am having problems when trying to restore a mailbox.
    I get an error:
    Cannot open mailbox /o=First Organization/ou=Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)/cn=Configuration/cn=Servers/cn=MBXsvr/cn=Microsoft System Attendant
    This is the first time I have tried restoring mailbox on this 2013 Server. This 2013 server is from a recent 2010 migration.
    I also recently lost Discovery Search mailbox and had to recreate it.
    I found an article on 2010 that says to set the homeMDB, but I am not sure if that is needed in 2013. There is none set in this AD.

    Hi,
    I searched and found that someone got the same error and resolved it by repairing the recovery database.
    Please repair your recovery database to check result.
    Instead of using the production space, try moving the RDB over to a test environment and running the New-MailboxRepairRequest there, then move it back
    to the production environment. To repair recovery database, you can follow steps below.
    1. Spin up a test environment.
      ○ Create a test-production DB in the test environment.
      ○ Dismount the DB in the test environment and rename it
    to old (or just delete it if it has no data that needs
    to be kept).
    2. Bring over the recovery DB to the test environment.
      ○ Rename it to match the test-production DB and put it in the test-productionDB location.
      ○ Mount the RDB in the test environment (as if it were the test-productionDB)
      ○ Run the New-MailboxRepairRequest to repair the affected mailbox
      ○ Once complete, dismount the recoveryDB.
    3. Bring the recovery DB back to the production environment.
      ○ Rename it to it's original name and put it back in it's original location.
      ○ Mount the RDB in it's original (rdb) location with it's original RDB name.
      ○ Run the New-MailboxRestoreRequest to merge the affected mailbox back into the production space.
    Hope this is helpful to you.

  • How to set initial size for mailbox in Exchange 2013?

    Hello All!
    I've installed Exchange 2013.
    Now I'd like to check Backup/Restore of some DataBase.
    For thist I look for some way to create Bulk of Mailboxes in DataBase and to set some initial size 50-100Mb for each.
    Thanks a lot!
    BR,
    Pavel

    Hi
    In your testing creating bulk mailboxes alone will not help . We need to populate some data's in the databases so that the databases are written with some values and they contain some data.
    For your testing with backup
    First you need to create few number of mailboxes.
    Populate those mailboxes by sending more emails.
    delete those emails and then try restoring those emails from the backup or if its testing QA server then you can dismount any databases delete few log files and try to restore them from your backup

  • Error During Exchange 2013 Mailbox Transport Role Install On Server 2012

    I was installing Exchange 2013 on Server 2012.  The server is not a DC, but is a member of a domain with a 2008 R2 functional level, and I was logged in as a domain admin.  There has never been an Exchange instance on this domain.  I got past
    the prerequisite checks, and the installer showed 15 steps, so I walked away.  When I came back, I saw this:
    Step 8 of 15: Mailbox role: Transport service
    Error:
    The following error was generated when "$error.Clear();
              $maxWait = New-TimeSpan -Minutes 8
              $timeout = Get-Date;
              $timeout = $timeout.Add($maxWait);
              $currTime = Get-Date;
              $successfullySetConfigDC = $false;
              while($currTime -le $timeout)
                $setSharedCDCErrors = @();
                try
                  Set-SharedConfigDC -DomainController $RoleDomainController -ErrorVariable setSharedCDCErrors -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue;
                  $successfullySetConfigDC = ($setSharedCDCErrors.Count -eq 0);
                  if($successfullySetConfigDC)
                    break;
                  Write-ExchangeSetupLog -Info ("An error ocurred while setting shared config DC. Error: " + $setSharedCDCErrors[0]);
                catch
                  Write-ExchangeSetupLog -Info ("An exception ocurred while setting shared config DC. Exception: " + $_.Exception.Message);
                Write-ExchangeSetupLog -Info ("Waiting 30 seconds before attempting again.");
                Start-Sleep -Seconds 30;
                $currTime = Get-Date;
              if( -not $successfullySetConfigDC)
                Write-ExchangeSetupLog -Error "Unable to set shared config DC.";
            " was run: "Unable to set shared config DC.".
    The only option on the screen was exit, so I did.  I checked the start menu, and there were two new Exchange icons, but I did not click them.  I ran the installer again, and it detected an incomplete install, the only option was to click next to
    finish the install, so I clicked next.  This time, I eventually got the same error, except the screen showed "Step 8 of 15: Mailbox role: Transport service."  I did install some Exchange 2010 prerquisites on the server before Exchange Server 2013
    came out, and I can rebuild the server and try the install again if that would be best, but I thought I should post here first and try to work through this since the product is so fresh.  Any suggestions?

    I've tried three times since my last post, following
    http://msexchange2010.info/archives/2330 as closely as possible the most recent time.  I am consistently getting the same error that appears to imply I don't have write access to the domain.  I don't understand this, because I am using the
    same domain admin account I have been using all along.  Nonetheless, here is the powershell output starting with the first Exchange setup.exe step (all other steps were already performed, all available updates were installed, and the server was rebooted
    prior to this):

  • Exchange 2013 mailbox name resolving vs. exchange server name (mailbox rule)

    Hello guys,
    I am running exchange 2007 and exchange 2013 CU7 in hybrid mode, while internal autodiscover a record is pointing to exchange 2007 client rule server.
    When I configure outlook mailbox located on exchange 2007- I can use autodiscover using mail address ore resolve mailbox name vs. exchange server name.
    When I configure outlook mailbox located on exchange 2013- I can configure it only using autodiscover mechanism ( email address - next- next etc.).
    We are using EMC backup software which works with MAPI. Since I wasn't able to restore granular mailboxes, I contacted EMC and they claimed that it's very important to configure mailboxes resolving.
    What should I check and configure to make it work?

    Hi,
    I think if we want to browse single mailbox by backup software, it will be regard to resolve mailbox name using server name, I suggest you contact  EMC supplier to improve it.
    By the way, they I type mailbox name which located on exchange 2013 server database and typing exchange 2007 cluster name, server name of exchange 2007 cluster changes automatically to exchange 2013 server on which this mailbox located.
    A: first, we should make sure cluster was worked without any problem. Then make sure Exchange 2013 mailbox server was included in cluster.
    If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.
    Best Regard,

  • Exchange 2013 - Disabled Mailbox not showing up immediately in the Connect a Mailbox

    I have disable a mailbox  over an hour ago but it doesn’t show in the
    connect a mailbox section in the ECP Exchange 2013. immediately. The reason why I disable the email as I want to attach it to a new AD user which I have created.
    I know you have to wait for replication so it appears in the connect a mailbox but I’m not sure how long and we forced an AD replication to see if that works.
    I know with Exchange 2010, to get the disconnected mailbox to show immediately, I used to write a command Clean-MailboxDatabase “DB” to get it to appear in the disconnected mailbox but that doesn’t work with Exchange 2013 anymore.
    Anyone have any suggestions?

    I'm having a same problem.
    I did disable-mailbox to one mailbox over 24 hours ago. The mailbox is lost. Maintenance schedule was last night, but there is no change when i list disconnected mailboxes at the database.
    In this environment a new user account is created everytime the cost center of the employee is changed. So i need to do disable mailboxes every day. This is not a first time when the mailboxes have been lost. Many times the mailboxes are seen
    at the database straight after the disable-mailboxes are done. Some mailboxes are seen at the database after the maintenance schedule. But every now and then, the mailboxes are lost. Because the nature of this environment, this is getting really annoying.
    I should not use restore of the backup for this...
    Right now i'm looking mailbos statistics of the mailbox that got lost (i have started to take statistics to see if the mailbox is empty or not). The mailbox had 864 items and total item size was 33.18 MB.
    If the maintenance schedule is not cabable to update the status of the mailbox, then there is no use of using update-storemailboxstate? At least for me this command is doing nothing when i am having this problem.

  • Exchange 2013 Database and Mailbox sizing configuration feedback?

    Hello,
    I am in the process of deploying Exchange 2013 in our environment, it will co-exist with Exchange 2010 until we move everyone over to the new server.
    My question is regards to the disk storage design, we have a SAN that Exchange will share with the rest of our Virtual Machines. I plan to have 20 live databases and 20 archive databases so I can balance out mailboxes per database so that each db is roughly
    100GB in size.
    The goal is is to keep the size down so that any database specific maintenance can finish quicker and if I ever had to deal with db corruption it is faster to restore, backup, etc.
    My question is, is there a lot of overhead I will be adding onto the Exchange server by having 40 databases mounted?
    Currently 300 users, 3.5TB in exchange databases between live and archive mailboxes (no mailbox caps), with 40 databases (20/20) it spreads out nicely with roughly 15 users per db, and db size is roughly 100GB.
    My concern is having 40 databases mounted on a single EXCH2013 multi-role server? We have no DAG, etc.
    The machine is a 4vCPU/32GB and the disks are on a Compellent tiered SAN shared among other VMs.
    Thanks.

  • Exchange 2013 - Public Folder Mailbox and Single Item Recovery

    Hello,
    I recently had a request to recover some messages that an ex-employee deleted from the "recover deleted items" folder in their public folder. Since this resides on a public folder mailbox and it does have the option for
    "Single Item Recovery" to be enabled on the box (which I enabled not knowing if this really works or not), is there a way I can still recovery these items or do I have to go to a backup to obtain those messages. Since ExFolders does not work that
    is not an option. I've seen commands to restore a public folder that was deleted but not items that were deleted directly from a public folder. I checked using MFCMAPI and I do see the dumper root and the public folder dumpster for each folder but it
    looks to be only the "deletions" folder and don't see anything similar to a "purges" type folder. Any ideas or am I stuck recovering from backup? Thanks in advance!

    So I think you are stuck and will need to restore the EDB to a Recovery Database to restore the items because when the end user purged the items from the "Recover Deleted Items" it removes them from the Recoverable Items/Deletions folder.
    Check out this article
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2013/08/23/recovering-public-folder-information-in-exchange-2013.aspx
    I have not played with the recoverable items settings on the 2013 public folder enabled mailbox EDB  but you might try checking out Litigation or In Place Hold to use as a safety mechanism moving forward.  That said this will also increase the
    DB size so consider all the options before implementing
    Search, Recover, & Extract Mailboxes, Folders, & Email Items from Offline Exchange Mailbox and Public Folder EDB's and Live Exchange Servers or Import/Migrate direct from Offline EDB to Any Production Exchange Server, even cross version i.e. 2003 -->
    2007 --> 2010 --> 2013 with Lucid8's
    DigiScope

  • Inter-Org Mailbox moves from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013

    G'Day All,
    Is it possible to move Exchange 2007 mailboxes to Exchange 2013 in a different forest? Both environment has all the required patches and service packs.
    There is a two way trust, and I don't want to introduce Exchange 2010 CAS in the source forest if I don't need to.
    I have read the following article http://msexchangeguru.com/2013/11/03/e2013crossforestmigration/ but it is not clear what is the required to setup in Exchange 2007.  I have read many other articles to do with Exchange 2013 mailbox moves, endpoints,
    etc, but non of them is clear of how does it work having Exchange 2007 source.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Recreation of user mailbox from exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013

    In my domain I was using Exchange 2007 earlier. I have installed Exchange 2013 successfully and running perfectly. I have one Issue:
    1. A user's mailbox in Exchange 2007 was disabled from Exchange 2007 and recreated on Exchange 2013.
    When a user try to send mail from outlook be it old one(2007) or new exchange(2013), gets NDR
    If user send via owa it get delivered.
    2. External mails are coming and user can send also like gmail or yahoo.
    This is not an issue of cached address (outlook) I have checked this possibility.
    Any luck

    Hi,
    From your description, OWA works well, the issue is related to Outlook side. In your case, I recommend you update the Address Book manually on Outlook and check the result. If the issue persists, you need to re-create the profile.
    Hope this can be helpful to you.
