Restore Manager does not open bakcup.1.exe file

I used f11 backup feature to backup my personal files prior to a system restore operation on Pavilion dv6636nr w/Vista.
Backup created two files on USB drive (Backup.1.exe 2.4 MB and Backup2.FBW - 43 GB) after running for ~20 hrs.
System restore seems to have been accomplished with pr0per functionality.
Per instructions on http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01673043&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=3370282&tmp... copied MINWINPC folder (with files above) to local hard disk. After double clicking on Backup.1.exe and answering question to allow the User Account window and waiting +1 hour nothing happens.
Have repeatedly "cleaned" registry via several software packages and have tried changing files names to Backup.001.exe & Backup.002.fbw but same results.
Any ideas about how to access the files in bakup?

I have seen posters report that the file extraction/ transfer can take several to many hours to complete.Check for the folder C:\System Recovery Files .Delete it before attempting the transfer again.

PS cc 2014 folder does not have the photoshop.exe file

Updated CC photoshop yesterday and the folder
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2014"
does not contain the Photoshop.exe for the new update.
After doing a drive search for photoshop.exe files, the only app file that is found on any drive is the photoshop.exe contained in my photoshop CS6 folder.
Any suggestions?

Download manager does not open. What should i do?

I downloaded the Adobe download manager as a prelude to downloading and installing CS6. All my downloads default to a seperate folder I set up. The file is there, but I cannot open it - double click, with administrative privilages, after transferring to user folder, same problem. Does not automatically open either like some other files do. Any help is appreciated.
Can I download CS6 directly without having to install the download manager? Thank you.

Do you receive any specific error messages? You are welcome to initiate a direct download by following the steps listed at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/981369. It seems like the download is complete however but you are having problems invoking the installer. Which operating system are you using btw?

Firefox 10 Add-Ons Manager does not open in a tab

In later versions of Firefox 9 and now Firefox 10, the "Add-Ons Manager" refuses to open in a tab. Instead, it opens as a window with no border that will not move and cannot be moved or closed except by closing it from the Start Bar at the bottom of the screen.
This occurs on 2 separate PCs, one running Vista, one running XP.
I know it should open as a Tab, but I see no way to do this.
Do I need to change some setting to get it to open properly?

updates 9 and 10 have caused me problems as well with add ons and the extra tab appearing welcoming me to firefox.
With update 10 all my add ons disappeared.. upon going to tools /add ons I found half my add ons were incompatable and the others were closed! I just opened them again and all was fine. Luckily the add ons I use often were still compatable.
The other option is to just add them again if they are compatible.. if not you can get around it by googling and comming up with a solution there somewhere.. One I use a lot is download helper and I had to do this about 3 versions ago to get it running.
There could be a solution in Help/trouble shooting and looking at extensions.. your add ons should be listed there and all be True..
If not you will most probably have to open Containing folder in top block and do something there.. Not sure what but will leave it up to the experts..
Seriously it would most probably be quicker to reinstal you add ons.

Illustrator CC(2014) does not open or create new file in Window 8.1 Pro

My illustrator can launch but once I tried to create a new file it would freeze and will not respond anymore.
I also tried to open existing illustrator files it just create a blank white illustrator window and does not respond afterwards as well.
I tried to reinstall the illustrator for times to fix to issue but it doesnt work.
All the other applications (photoshop/indesign...) work perfectly, but obviously there is a bug in illustrator...
Have any other people experienced similar issue and know how to fix it??

Did you uninstall then used the Cleaner tool before reinstalling?
Is a printer connected? Is the driver up to date? Printer turned on?
Do you have any third party plugins installed?
A graphic tablet?
Any other hardware?
Font management? Which one?
Have you already tried setting up a new user account (Admin) and launching from that one?

Firefox does not open, profile manager does not open, not listed in task manager

firefox worked fine about two days back. Our norton expired so I downloaded Kaspersky Anti-Virus 12.0.0.374. I don't know if that has any connection to firefox not working.
I click on the icon, nothing happens. The task is not mentioned in the task manager.
I try to run it in safe mode, nothing happens. I try to open the profile manager, nothing happens! What can I do to fix this?

Thank you fmdeveloper! I did some more research after I posted the question and it turns out Kaspersky was not the issue. I had done a system restore two days back and it says online that after a system restore, you have to uninstall and reinstall firefox. So I uninstalled it (kept my settings and data) and reinstalled it and voila, it works!
I did switch from Kaspersky to Avira too for Anti-vifus, don't know if that's a sane decision or not, but it's good to know that Kaspersky was not the culprit!

Bookmark Manager does not open URLS

Synced my Mac PowerBook with Curve 8330 and transfered bookmarks from Safari creating a Bookmark Manager icon on Curve. Opened icon, used shift key to open folder displaying name & URL address of site, highlighted wanted site, used Menu key and selected Open Bookmark but nothing happens. How do I open sites from the Bookmark Manager? These bookmarks are not listed in Bookmarks when the Browser is open. As a postscript, I downloaded the updated driver from Blackberry for PocketMac and installed it before restart thereby being able to do a good sync.

Mplayer does not open in XMonad from file manager

I am not able to open a video file in xmonad by double clicking on it in nautilus. Other video players such as vlc do open. Opening a video file with mplayer in pcmanfm works but not in thunar. All of the just mentioned methods do work in Gnome. Any ideas how to fix this?

oh, my bad, didnt read it properly.
make a custom command something like "terminal -e mplayer %F" or something, which should open up a terminal and do it, that way you can see error reports.

Per my understanding that you got the error message when access the report manager in the client vista machine which have't install the reporting services instance and access to the Windows XP machine works fine, right?
I assumed that you have installed the Reporting Services instance in this WIndows XP machine, Could you please check in the third machine with the vista os to see if you will got the same error message.
The issue can be caused by many factors:
If the third machine can connect to the report manager remotely, the issue can be caused by this vista machine.

Pages 5.2 does not open Pages 2.0 files

Just started using Pages in the last several months. The version of pages I had/have is 2.02. I created several documents and saved them with this version. Yesterday I down loaded Pages 5.2. This version indicates that the files I just created last week are too old. From the support community I see that this is an issue between the Pages versions. Is there a workaround? I tried saving the 2.02 file in Word 05 (that was the default offered) onto the desktop and tried to open it with Pages 5.2 but that did not work. Any other thoughts? Also the older programs were in a folder called iWork. Any benifit to moving the new Pages and sister programs into this same folder?

You can't just change the file extension.
You have to Export the file to Word .doc.
It has been a long time since iWork '05 so I can't remember exactly where the Export option is in Pages '05, probably under the Window or File menus. Maybe even in Save As… down the bottom.

Adobe reader does not open usage right enabled files in Ubntu 8.0.4

I have a series of pdf files with the usage right enabled in adobe acrobat.
When I try to open them in linux Ubuntu 8.0.4 the adobe windows flashes for a second and the disappears. I tried to run the command in a terminal but it doesn't give me any error or warning message. I am just wondering if any one else has been able to resolve this issue.

We have tried using the file you sent on multiple linux distributions with Linux Reader 8.1.2 but we're not able to replicate the issue you're facing. We've tried on Ubuntu 8.04 as well and haven't seen any issues.
Could you share more information, includign the version of the reader youre' trying to use (you can see that at Help > About Adobe Reader).

IMovie 10.0.8 does not open older iMovie .rcproject files

I have tried to "Update Projects and Events" and also tried to "Import Media", but remain unable to open projects in iMovie 10.0.8 with file extension .rcproject that were created with iMovie 9.0 and identified as "iMovie Project" files in the Finder. They are dimmed whenever I try to use iMovie 10.0.8 to open them.
In the process of trying to move back to iMovie 9.0, I can open iMovie 9.0 and while the projects appear on the list of Projects, they are not apparently incomplete and "Source clip is missing" message appears where the viewing screen should show the video. They will not play in 9.0, and therefore no editing is possible.
Did I read that once "converted" to iMovie 10.0.8 that files would no longer be recognizable by the older iMovie?
I have numerous projects created with iMovie 9 that seem to be somewhere in limbo:

I have moved the Event and Project Folders to the "top-layer of the drive" as the instructions state, right alongside the System Folder, Users Folder and Applications Folders.
When I open iMovie 10.0.8, the Events and Projects Folders are empty:
When I select File/Update Projects and Events, I get an alert box that says iMovie couldn't find any:
Not knowing exactly what is meant by the "top layer" in the instructions, I moved the Events and Project folders back inside the "Movies" folder where I found them (but then not where I would call the "top" layer, but rather "iMac/Users/Home/Movies/iMovieProjects". Then I tried to "Update Projects and Events" and received the same alert: "iMovie could not find any projects or events to update."
Then I tried to update iMovie 9.0 (iMovie '11 version 9.0 (1073)) to version 9.0.9 .
[As an aside, the nomenclature of iMovie drives me nuts. The latest version is 10.0.8, which us newer than iMovie '11.]
Back to the update of version 9.0 to 9.0.9.
Presumably because I have version 10.0.8 installed, I got this alert box:
So, I cannot update version 9.0
and I cannot "Update" the Events and Projects created in version 9.0.

Photoshop CC does not open a RAW NEF file with Camera Raw 8.5. Also, my Help Update gives me an old version.

I've tried updating the plug-in using PS Help CC but it updates with an old version. I downloaded 8.5 and did a manual install but Photoshop doesn't recognize it and the plug-in "cannot be found." I can see the plug-in on the HD drive where it was supposed to go. What am I missing here?

Lightroom does not open photoshop using "Edit in adobe photoshop CC-" command.

I updated lightroom and photoshop using the CC desktop. (LR V5.3 x64, PS V14.6.2 x64) This broke the “Edit in adobe photoshop CC…” command.
Based on advice from this forum, I unistalled both programs completely and reinstalled them. The
“Edit in adobe photoshop CC…” command is still broken.
Is there a way to fix this? I use this feature frequently.

I have been a happy user of Firefox for many years. Around last April first I opened Firefox and was offered an update to v 4.42.0.0 which I accepted. Installation seemingly went well. I forget now exactly what happened but the result has been that ever since April 1 I haven’t been able to open the Firefox browser when clicking on the Firefox icon. My computer now was running very slowly. I tried to uninstall Firefox, but a popup told me I couldn’t because Firefox was in use. This confused me because I couldn’t see it being used. Only now I have found that on Task Manager processes that “firefox.exe” was consuming 99 % of the CPU. After removing firefox.exe by clicking End Process my computer ran better. I uninstalled Firefox I had on my computer and installed Firefox 5.0. Unfortunately I have the same problems: Firefox does not open when clicking on the icon, the firefox.exe process consumes 99 % of the CPU and my computer runs slowly.

I was unable to start in safe mode initially. The second time I disabled all of the Add-Ons and she started up just fine. I enabled them one by one hoping to track down the culprit but the problem seems to have gone away.
BTW I am running ver. 3.6.8 (in response to cor-el's earlier post) and
Firefox is in the process of downloading 3.6.10 (which I am starting to think may have been what caused this whole problem to begin with)
Incidentally, whats up with all of the Java Console Add Ons?
I have:
Java Console 6.0.11, Java Console 6.0.13, Java Console 6.0.15
Java Console 6.0.17, Java Console 6.0.20, and Java Console 6.0.21
What are they? Do I need them? Can I uninstall them? Is this due to using Open Office?
Also, .NET Framework 0.0.0 Should I uninstall it?
