Restore my previous session without reload

I use firefox update version Recently I select a option to restore my previous session (Show my windows and tabs from last time)
But when i open firefox that multiple tabs take reload for open. But i want to open them without reload or ofline. Can I do this? But i do not want to save them to my local host server.

hello frontfronts, please try if the same problem is still happening once you update to firefox 29.0.1 - it should contain a fix for this issue: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/29.0.1/releasenotes

  • I'm fed up with Firefox, I can't get it to restore my previous session. I'm ininstalling it.

I keep trying to set Firefox to "show my windows and tabs from last time" but it keeps showing this http://search.us.com/v/2/?guid={A665B7FB-CC63-4DF6-A03A-AE7DF57CDAF0} when I start. I'm fed up. I'm uninstalling it,

I think this is because of software (adware or viruses) on your machine or the websites you visit. Many of these change homepages without user consent as a way of aggressive advertising or to scam people. These generally target your default browser, so even if you switch to Maxthon you could get the some problem. To prevent this from happening you need to use anti-virus software to scan for adware and viruses and remove them.
Even with the adware you can probably still restore your previous session by clicking the 'Firefox' > 'History' > 'Restore Previous Session' (or 'History' > 'Restore Previous Session' if you don't have the 'Firefox' button).

  • I can't restore a previous session (it instead recovers the session before) of my Tabs and my home page keeps being reset to firefox

    Hi,
Over the last few days (since i updated to the newest version of firefox) i've been having problems. I usually keep open quite a few tabs that are invaluable to me that I need, they contain vital information i've been needing for research and I can't afford to keep losing them!. I'm used to exiting firefox when i turn off my computer and them saving for my next session when I open firefox back up. For some reason now, if i turn off my computer, when i turn on again and go into firefox to restore my previous session. it will restore the session prior to my previous session but not my previous session.
My default setting was to resume the Firefox session from where it was when I last exited Firefox that I set. The settings are all the same as they was before I updated firefox and I had this problem, so it is set to remember my history. I'm really not that tech savvy so i really don't know if it was teh update that caused it but it seems around the same time. Also, every single time. it sets my home page to firefox (it is usually google)) it will only remain google if i change it back and remain for the day until i restart my computer.
I'd be most grateful to any hint that might solve this problem. Thank you for your attention. I really appreciate the input! thanks everyone in advance!

You can check for problems with the sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak files in the Firefox profile folder that store session data.
Delete the sessionstore.js file and possible sessionstore-##.js files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox profile folder.
*Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)

Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost and you will have to recreate them (make a note or bookmark them if possible).

  • How can i stop firefox from trying to restore my previous sessions

Ever since I updated to firefox 20.0 I've been having a problem with firefox. Every time I start up firefox I get a message saying that this is so embarrassing for trying but failing to restore my previous session and it gives me the option to either close the page and go to the welcome screen, or to restore my previous session. My preferences has the show my home page selected, and every time that I close out of firefox, I close the page by hitting the red x, and then I highlight either the firefox icon or the firefox tab at the top of my screen and select quit. I reset firefox twice and that didn't work either.

    Tried it didn't work

  • How can i restore a Previous session if someone has just opened the Firefox browser and closed it bfore I got on the same computer?

I had 2 lots of windows with multiple tabs thatI wanted to re-open the next timethe computer was on, but someone else was on the computer and opened firefox and now i can't restore my previous session of tabs in the 2 windows.

hello, can you go to the firefox ''menu ≡ > help ? > troubleshooting information'', click on ''profile folder/show folder'' and close all firefox windows afterwards. a windows explorer window should open up - in there create a backup of all files starting with '''sessionstore'''. then inspect them and see if their modified date would match the session you're trying to restore, in which case you might paste the content of the file into a site like https://firefox-session-restore.herokuapp.com/
otherwise i fear you'll have to reconstruct those sites through your history ...

  • Firefox restores my previous session everytime. How can I make it default to ONLY my homepage on start?

This problem began one day without changing any settings months ago. I have read all the tip,s tricks, and step-by-step instructions for these settings on the Firefox support forum, but without telling my PC to clear my history each time then it will start my previous session without fail. I want my history saved, I just don't want to have my previous session to be the the Firefox start up page. It's very irritating when I start Firefox up and have to go and close out five tabs as well as clicking the home button just to get to what I specified to be my home page. I'm very much distraught since I just read a question that was posted over 3 months ago with the exact same issue but with no solution. Anyway I appreciate anyone's help.
Please: no suggestions that would imply I never touched a computer. If it's the basics... I've already made the attempt.

Did you check if you have a user.js in Firefox profile folder that sets the <b>browser.sessionstore.resume_session_once</b> pref to true?

  • When FF restarts after a crash, why does it not restore my previous session?

Firefox crashed twice today (on the same URL), and each time it restarted, it did not honor my option to "restore the previous session". Each time it restarted with one window, I checked my options, and the "restore previous session" option was still set. The happened last week also. FF 32.0, Windows 7 Professional 32-bit. Thanks.
    --Barry Finkel

Hi Barry, can you use History > Restore Previous Session?
I think you need to fix this setting:
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the search box above the list, type or paste '''sess''' and pause while the list is filtered
    (3) Double-click '''browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash''' to switch it from false to true
You might also want to reset or at least increase these values, but based on our earlier thread, perhaps these would make your session history less stable:
    '''browser.sessionstore.max_windows_undo''' is currently zero
    '''browser.sessionstore.max_tabs_undo''' is currently zero

  • Can't restore a previous session (or two ago) using a backup.session file?

I'm trying to recover a session, but it is not my last previous session (it's from a few sessions ago now I suppose). I started Firefox today and it didn't load the session from the previous night and instead loaded a couple of update pages that I closed. I then reopened Firefox realizing that it didn't reopen to my session and now restoring the previous session doesn't help because it opened to the updates (and I've now opened and closed it a few times trying to solve the issue). I've found a file in the session folder called "backup.session" that was modified last night and says it is a SESSION File, but can't seem to open it (web search for a program does no good and I don't see Firefox in the Browse for a Program section.
Is there anyway to open a session from a few sessions ago and is it through this backup.session file?

Are you using any session managing extensions like Tab Mix Plus or Session Manager?
You can try to restore a previous version of the sessionstore.js file.

  • How to Stop Firefox 18 From Restoring the Previous Session After a Crash

Firefox 18.0.1 running on Windows 7
When Firefox crashes, the next time it opens it tries to restore the previous session. I do not want Firefox to restore the previous session after a crash. How do I prevent Firefox from restoring the previous session after a crash?
    Please note:
1- My home page is set to "blank page"
2- I have configured Firefox to NOT remember my browsing history, download history, form fields and passwords.
3- Even in Safe Mode (i.e., with all add-ons disabled), Firefox STILL restores the previous session after a crash.

hello Bulldogger, please try the following in order to switch off sessionrestore completely: enter '''about:config''' into the firefox location bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up) & search for the preferences named '''browser.sessionstore.max_tabs_undo''' and '''browser.sessionstore.max_windows_undo'''. double-click on those entries and change both of their values to '''0'''.

  • I keep getting a restore to previous session box every time that I log on to Fire fox--Why

I am getting the "restore to previous session" box every time that I now start my Firefox browser get onto the internet. This is on my laptop. Why do I get this box on my start page. Is there a special method of signing off with the browser? This has been happening for several weeks.

That is a new feature that started with Firefox 4.0, with the '''about:home''' homepage which was also new in Firefox 4.0. The previous session is saved automatically, unlike earlier versions.
If you don't like seeing Restore Previous Session, change your homepage to a different web page. <br />

  • I want to remove "Restore Previous Session" without disabling crash/tab restore and history

I have checked "Clear history when ff closes" & "Active logins" / "Saved passwords" but nothing.
The options of restoring a session after a crash and reopening an accidentally closed tab are great, but I just can't feel ok that everyone on my pc can restore a whole session with an email (facebook, forum, etc) account logged in with the "Restore Previous Session" "feature", if I forgot to log out before closing Firefox.
For me this is a big privacy issue. Please don't make me switch to Chrome!

I managed to remove the "Restore Previous Session" button from the home page by changing my default home page with this : www.google.com/firefox/ (the default home page from the previous versions of Firefox). It worked for me, I hope it works for you too.

  • Can I restore a previous session after I open a new page and close it again afterwards?

I recently lost all of my opened tabs and windows. I had 7 pages open with multiple tabs in each window. Windows did an update and shut down my computer without me realizing. When I went on to my computer, without thinking I opened a new window and didn't restore the session, not realizing it wasn't there anymore. Then my computer shut down unexpectedly. Now when I go on the computer, it won't show my previous browsing session. The restore previous session is grayed out, and now that I opened another window to try to figure it out, there is nothing to restore. Is there any way to get a browsing session back from the past? Not the most previous browsing session, but a browsing session from 2 before that??? I am devastated because of all the research I've done in the past 6 months is gone. It will be so hard to figure it all out by searching through my history since it was 6 months of browsing. Not to mention too time consuming to do it that way since there were a few hundred tabs that I lost! Please help me!! I keep thinking that there has to be a way...It's really stressing me out and I just can't accept that it is all gone! I'm not an expert on computers, so I hope to get an explanation that I understand...I would be so grateful if someone can help me!! Thanks!!

    Hello,
The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. <br>
'''Note''': ''This will cause you to lose any Extensions and some Preferences.''
*Open websites will not be saved in Firefox versions lower than 25.
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
    #Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

  • How to restore a previous session after firefox closed and cleared browsing history, is still any chance to get it back there?

Accidentally shut down the pc and firefox did not come back with option restore previous session at the first screen even in History-Restory previous session is Grey. My settings are clean history after firefox is closed.
Is there any change to get back on my Tabs from previous session even the history browsing was cleaned? I would appreciate your help!

In general FireFox will behave in 1 of 3 ways when restarted after a shutdown.
    1. Kill Shutdown
This happens when the FireFox process is terminated with a TerminateProcess() call or if the FireFox process crashes. It is a dirty exit, no clean-up is done. When restarted after this FireFox will show a "Well this is embarrassing" dialog with options to restore selected parts of the previous session.
    2. Force Shutdown
This happens when another process asks FireFox to shutdown cleanly (such as a PC restart) by a call to ExitProcessEx() and does not ask the user for confirmation. Normally, when this type of shutdown occurs, Firefox will just restore all tabs and sessions without asking. However if Firefox is set to automatically delete history on shutdown, it can't. I suspect this is your situation. I would suggest to the FF team that deleting history should be skipped in this case, only a user shutdown should delete history.
    3. User shutdown.
This is when the user tells Firefox to close down (by selecting Exit or closing all tabs etc..). Confirmation is asked to close all tabs (if enabled and more than 1 tab is open). On restart, nothing is restored.
Unfortunately, if you have auto clear history enabled, there's no way to recover the previous session. Sorry.

  • Can I restore a previous session?

I had a huge session that had been there for quite a few days. I was doing some important work and had to refer to websites opened on it daily. Today when I came home I noticed that my computer had restarted. When I opened firefox to restore the session and begin work again, it opened to my home page. I don't know who sat on my computer when I was gone and how many times was it used during this time. Is there anyway to recover that previous session that I had?

If the session has been overwritten by someone else working at this computer,I don't think you can now recover that session, although you can still search in the history for the websites that were opened before the restart, which can be done from the Firefox button-->History-->Recently Closed Tabs (and/or Recently Closed Windows) or from the search box in the Library (Ctrl+shift+H) .
However, before doing this, you could try to restore the session (just in case someone did not overwrite your previous session, but just chose to open the home page instead) from the History menu-->Restore Previous Session or directly from the home page (if it is on the default setting of about:home you should have a "restore previous session" button on the right) or by typing '''about:sessionrestore''' in the URL bar.
In the future,if you need to constantly save an huge session, this extension [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/session-manager/?src=search Session Manager] does exactly this job and can store/reload multiple sessions.
