Restore needed message. HELP
My iphone shows Restore Needed error message
Iphone does not show up in iTunes, when it tries to connect it advises to put my passcode in, before itunes can connect to the iphone.
My iphone message is Restore Needed. iPhone cannot make or receive calls. www.apple.com/support ..
It has a little information icon that i clicked on and it advises that the IMEI and ICCID in unknown.
any ideas on how to restore my phone????
Try forcing your iPhone into recovery mode and restoring from there. To do this, turn it off. then, press and hold the home button. Keeping it held, plug your iPhone into iTunes via the USB cable. Keep holding down the home button until the screen showing a USB cable and an iTunes icon appears. Then, iTunes will recognize your iPhone, and you can do a restore. Hopefully this will work, but a restart of iTunes or your computer may be required.

I received the following information on my 3g iphone with 2.2 running. The phone started up with information instructing me to restore the phone by connecting to iTunes. I also receiving different languages and the only option is to make an emergency call. I am currently using iTunes v 8.0.2. When I connect the phone, I am then notified "Itunes can not activate your phone because the SIM card is not inserted or a SIM pin is required"
I have removed the SIM and then inserted it again. My phone is passcoded but I dont have the option to insert it.
Any help would be apprciated.

Does the iPhone display the default IMEI number shown in the article?
If it does, the iPhone may need hardware repair. Just make a reservation to have a Genius at a local Apple retail store take a look at it or call AppleCare.

Restore Needed but Can't proceed.
Hello, when I turned on my iPhone 3G (2.2) this morning, it displayed 'Restore Needed' message and said that it cannot make or receive calls. When I plugged in to my computer to do a restore with iTunes. iTunes told me to unlock the phone with my password since my iphone is protected. The issue is that I have no where to input this password on the iPhone!! The only screen that iPhone is showing is the Emergency Call keyboard. So I am stuck. I tried to reboot the iPhone but no success.
Can someone help me please or experienced the same issue?thanks for the advice! pressing the home button brought the phone to forced restore mode. I had to press it for a really long time- maybe 4 minutes. but since the apple store is closed, I really had no other hope.
now it's trying to restore, and I'm crossing my fingers that that works! -

I finally see a dim light at the end of this restore drama, I managed to get my phone back to the post recovery stage finally, and with "restore needed" message
I think the drama will end.I will be glad if I come out of this.On connecting to Itunes, I get the message "There is no SIM Card in the phone you are trying to activate" I might have inserted the SIM card at least four or five times.Checking forums for an answer.Same thing happens to me...all i see is the itunes and apple logo. Even though it's connected. It JUST doesn't wanna sync/restore/acknowledge there's a sim in my phone. I get NO SERVICE etc (that's if i'm lucky enough to have the phone in working order and not a black screen)

In the article Resolve iOS update and restore errors this is what it says about error 14:
Check your USB connections
Related errors: 13, 14, 1600, 1601, 1602, 1603, 1604, 1611, 1643-1650, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2009, 4005, 4013, 4014, or “invalid response."
If the USB connection between your device and computer is interrupted, you may be unable to update or restore.
To narrow down the issue, you can also change up your hardware:
Use the USB cable that came with your device, or a different Apple USB cable.
Plug your cable into a different USB port directly on your computer. Don't plug it into your keyboard.
Try a different computer.
If necessary, resolve any further issues with the USB connection, then with your security software.
If you're still seeing the error message, check for hardware issues by following the next section. -

For no apparent reason my phone stopped working...so I did a reset and got the message 'Restore Needed'. I connected to iTunes and got this message: 'iTunes could not connect to the iPhone because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter your passcode on your iPhone before it can be used with iTunes'.
The problem is, I can't enter my passcode because I'm not given that option on the iPhone. All I seem to be able to do is make an emergency call.
It's been working fine otherwise. Any suggestions?
This is the SECOND replacement iPhone I've had this week and I'm getting a bit fed up.

If so reboot your iPhone and enter the passcode to get it operational. Launch Image Capture on the Mac and connect the iPhone. Now you should be able to download the video files to wherever you want on your hard drive.

You cannot downgrade.
If you have a 3GS, you can only install iOS 6.1.3 which is the current version of iOS for the device. -
I have tried restoring an Ipod Nano 6th Generation but it seems to keep looping back and saying it is in recovery and needs restoring, can anyone help?
Try doing a level reformat of the iPod's flash storage instead to see if that kills the restore loop using the instructions in the article below.

We have seen the same error appearing, but it doesn't do any harm. Your application should behave correctly, despite this error message raised by UIX runtime.

Need some help in saving video message from viber to my Iphone 5S with new ios 8's program . I disabled the thing that would save photos and videos automatically then, there comes a video I want to save. After loading and watching it, I press the "save to gallery" thing but it doesn't save in gallery. I tried all, restarting my phone, rebooting then turning on the save automatically thing and when I watch it again, it still wouldn't save.
Probably a good question to ask Viber or look at their support site.

Related errors: 1, 3, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 20, 21, 23, 26, 27, 28, 29, 34, 35, 36, 37, 40, 1000, 1002, 1004, 1011, 1012, 1014, 1667, or 1669.
These errors mean that your device or computer may have a hardware issue that's preventing the update or restore from completing.
Check that your security software and settings aren't preventing your device from communicating with the Apple update server.
Then try to restore your iOS device two more times while connected with a cable, computer, and network you know are good.
Confirm that your security software and settings are allowing communication between your device and update servers.
If you still see the error message when you update or restore, contact Apple support.

Help restore 30684 messages in Apple Mail inbox
I had opened another thread where in I had e-mail accounts two using IMAP and one using exchange 2010. For some strange reason around 12/21/11 all of my inboxes disappeared without a trace. That day mail was being sluggish activiity monitor was busy but I did not realiize realize what it was doing until too late. None of my messages showed up in the trash or deleted messages folder, they all just went straight into a black hole. With the two IMAP mailboxes I was able to do a time machine restore of a backup done on 12/20. These mailboxes only contained a few thousand so it was relatively quick an hour or so each. After the restore I moved the messages from the local recovered folder to the inbox all is happy. When I tried doing the exchange inbox with 30684 it would hang on the restore. I would select the inbox then launch time machine. I would go to the date 12/20/11, the inbox would start a count of the inbox contents ultimately ending up with 30684 messages. I would then do a cmd-a and it would select all 30684 messages and in about 2+ hours the daisy wheel is done selecting and a message would pop up on the lower pane and say something like "click on the restore button to recover 30684 messages." I would then click on the restore button and leave it. I've left it as long as a week and it was just stuck there and I had to force quit mail. I tried that process again and would leave it over night the next morning it would still be stuck at that last screen when I clicked recover but the time machine disk has stopped popping the popcorn. It would be totally stock and only thing I could do was force quit mail. Clicking on cancel or anything else would not respond.
Please help restore 30684 messages tell me about a finding a work around. I can browse backups so there has to be a way to get them back...
