Restore New iPhone from back up - Music Download

I recently changed carries and restored the iPhone 6 I received from my most recent backup. After the restore was complete I noticed that only certain (very, very few) of my songs were downloaded back on to my phone. The others were listed but with the icon to download each individually from iCloud. My question is that while I am pretty certain there has to be a way to download in bulk all my songs from iCloud at once or at the very least download each artists albums instead of having to download each of the hundreds of songs I have individually, I just do not know where to this or how?
Thanks in advance.

Hi nickh77tx,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you restored your iPhone from a backup and all of your music wasn’t restored. It sounds as though you restored from an iCloud backup. If this is the case, it can take some time for the restore to complete and download all of your music back to your iPhone. Please read over the attached article for further information.
If you need help restoring from an iCloud backup - Apple Support
Restoring my device from an iCloud backup is taking a long time
Restoring from a backup might take a while because of the size of the backup or the speed of the Wi-Fi network. For example, iCloud can take approximately 1 to 4 hours per gigabyte during a restore process.
There are several steps you can take:
In iOS 8 or later, check the progress of the transfer on your device under Settings > iCloud > Backup. In iOS 7, go to Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup. If the restore process is underway, the iCloud Backup setting is dimmed.
Make sure that your device is connected to the Internet with reliable Wi-Fi.
Make sure that your device is plugged in to a power outlet.
Check the Apple progress bar that appears while transferring a backup.
Best regards,
Joe

  • I purchased an iPhone 3 and had photos on it. Started having issues within 30 days and could replace it. Moved photos to back up on iCloud. did not restore new phone from back up how can i save the new photos and retrieve the old ones?

I purchased an iPhone 3 and had taken some photos on it. I started having issues within 30 days and could replace it. So I created an iCloud account and  saved those photos as a back up on iCloud. I did not restore my new phone from back up because I did not realize I needed to restore and not just activitate it. How can I save the new photos, apps, and other stuff but retrieve the old photos?

If all you want is your old photos, you could backup your new phone using iTunes, then restore it from your iCloud backup, import the old photos to your computer, then restore it from the backup your made in iTunes returning your newer data to your phone.  If you want your old photos on your phone, sync them there from your computer using iTunes.  The process would look like this:
Connect your phone to your computer, when it appears in iTunes on the left sidebar right-click on it and select Transfer Purchases; right-click again and select Backup.
Disconnect from your computer and go to Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content and Settings to return it to new
Go through the activation setup, choosing to Restore from iCloud backup.  Make sure your phone is plugged into a charger and has access to wi-fi as this can take hours to complete.
When complete, without connecting your phone to your computer, open iTunes and go to Preferences.  On the Devices tab check "Prevent...from syncing automatically"
Now import the old photos to your computer (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083)
When done, open iTunes, right-click on the name of your phone on the left sidebar and select Restore from Backup, choose the backup you made in step 1.
Go to the Photos tab and select the photos you want to sync to your phone and sync.

  • Exact sequence to backup, wipe then restore new iphone from backup?

Like a lot of people I'm hoping to switch from a 3g to a 3g s next friday. One thing I'm slightly confused about, due to a previous bad experience, is the whole backup and restore thing. A few months ago my iphone was replaced by apple as it was faulty. I did a restore from backup with the new iphone and somehow it got screwed up. None of my apps got transfered to the new phone, I had to install them manually and lost all my game saves.
Please can someone post the exact step by step sequence including wiping all data from the old iphone?
    thanks in advance
    Kev

For backup, see the iPhone Manual, page 139-140.
When you connect your new iPhone to iTunes, you will be given the option to "Set up as new phone" or "Restore from a backup" with a list of the available backups you can choose.
To erase your old iPhone, connect iPhone to your computer or a power adapter. Choose General > Reset and tap “Erase All Content and Settings.” This feature resets all settings to their defaults and removes all your information and media on your iPhone by overwriting the data stored on iPhone.

  • Restore new iPhone from cloud

I need to restore new replacement iPhone to cloud backup of damaged (previous) iPhone.  Backup was 3 days ago.  How do I do this?

When you go through Setup Assistant on a new iOS 5 device, choose "Restore from iCloud Backup" and enter your iCloud account and password. You will see the three most recent backups for each of the devices on which you enabled Backup. Choose which backup to restore from.

  • If I restore my iphone from back up will I lose my current data?

I backed my phonne up to itunes and  I would like to restore that data (since then somethings that were backed up have been deleted) but those are the things I would like to retreive I just don't want to lose things that haven't been backed up if that makes any sense?

Yes, if you restore a backup then you will lose your current data.  You can choose one or the other ...
Unless somehow you have the old data you want as well as the new data on your computer or somewhere else (not in your iPhone backup).

  • If I restored my new iPhone from iCloud backup, and I delete the old iPhone backup to make room on iCloud to back up my new phone, will it delete everything on the new phone?

If I restored my new iPhone from iCloud backup, and I delete the old iPhone backup to make room on iCloud to back up my new phone, will it delete everything on the new phone?

I have this exact same issue.  Replaced my iPhone 4s with the new iPhone 5s, setting up my new iPhone 5s to restore from iCloud.  This completed and now I am unable to delete my old iPhone 4s iCloud backup (consuming 15.1 GB of my 20GB allocation).  How can I delete it, so that I get my 15 GB back?  I am not going to invest in additional iCloud storage, because I will be 15 GB down from the off.

  • HT4859 If I got a new iPhone and backed up the data from the old one, it should show up once the new one is set up right? Does an "incomplete" status mean it did not back up and can not be restored to the new iPhone?

If I got a new iPhone and backed up the date from the old one, it should show up once the new one is set up right?
And does an "incomplete" status on iCloud mean it can't be restored to the new iPhone?
    Help please

What I mean is still track my stolen one. I don't know if this will make sense to you but I'm thinking that if I restore the back up data on this phone..on my stolen phone it will like forget the icloud account or something and think this phone is the stolen one so when I go to track the stolen one, it will show that phone as the one I have now because I restored the back up from that phone.

  • HT1766 If I restore my new iphone from my last backup will it delete all of the new things that i have on my phone

If i restore my new iphone from my last backup will it delete all of the new content that I currently have on my phone? would it be better off to set it up as a new iphone? and if i set it up as a new iphone what will that do?

If you restore from your last backup, it will replace what you now have on your phone. If you set it up as new, you will have a phone just out of the box without any of your data on it. You can download any apps again. You can sync your music through iTunes.

  • HT4914 If I subscribe to iTunes Match, can I download onto my new iPhone 6, just my music playlists and not my entire library?

If I subscribe to iTunes Match, can I download onto my new iPhone 6, just my music playlists and not my entire library? I have over 100 playlists and even more music not in playlists and I don't want to download all of it to my phone.
    Thanks

First read this: FAQ: Why iTunes Match Can Not Be Used as a Backup
So, before you sell your Mac make sure all your personal data is backed up to an external HDD then put that HDD in a safe place. When you return you will be able to use it to restore your data to the new Mac.
Before you sell your computer you must restore the original version OS X that was installed on it when you bought it. See this Apple KB article for how to prepare your Mac for sale: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5189.

  • My new iphone 5 wont let me download music or apps i have to answer 2 security questions i dont remember my answers is been so long how do i get past this to get my music

my new iphone 5 wont let me download music of apps i have to answer 2 security questions its been so long since i have used these i dont remember the answers how can i get past this to download?

In order to get those to work you will have to upgrade to Snow Leopard 10.6.8.
Start by checking if you can run Snow Leopard:
Requirements for OS X 10.6 'Snow Leopard'
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
The OS 10.6 Snow Leopard install DVD is available for $19.99 from the Apple Store:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
    and in the UK:
    http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
but nobody knows for how long it will be available.
When you have installed it, run Software Update to download and install the latest updates for Snow Leopard, preferably the full 10.6.8 combo updater.

  • How can i restore my iPhone from an older back-up?

    Hi there,
Recently, my iPhone 4 was restored by Apple. When I plugged my iPhone in to iTunes it automatically synced and did a back-up. It then restored my phone with the apps and music that were on my phone at the time of the last back-up, however not with the contacts or photos.
Is there any possible way to restore my iPhone with the photos and contacts that were on my phone at the time of the last back-up? Is there a way to restore your iPhone from an older back-up (not the latest one)? Please help!! PLEASE!!

    Hi AnaMusic,
Thanks for your reply. I don't really understand your answer though. I plugged my iPhone into iTunes with the intention of restoring from my latest back-up as I have lost all my photos and contacts on my phone. However, when I plugged it in it automatically did a sync and a back-up. Now when I click restore from back-up it just restores to what I have on my iPhone now, because that was the latest back-up (it did it automatically). Do you understand what I mean?
What I am wondering is whether or not I am able to restore my contacts and photos from my last iTunes back-up (before today's one)?
    Thanks.
P.S - My photos and contacts did not save to Address Book and iPhoto if that helps.
