Restore new Ipod Touch from iPhone 4 backup...

I bought my son an iPod touch as he is constantly asking to play games on my iPhone 4. I want to transfer the games from my iPhone 4 to his iPod, including the save data. Is it possible for me to simply restore his new iPod from my latest iPhone backup? I can then delete any apps he would not be using, etc.

yes.
in fact, when you connect the Touch to iTunes for the 1st time, you should be asked if you want the back up of your iPhone to be restored to the Touch.

  • Is 3.0 included on all new ipod touch from now on? +itunes question

Anyone know if 3.0 is included on all new ipod touch from now on? If so, does Apple have a history of giving you credit for the software update if say, you just got the ipod a couple days ago? I just bought my first mac and got the 2g ipod touch with it on Friday. Argh. If I had known I would've waited but I was so excited from the WWDC news of the 13" macbook I was stalking for so long that I just bought it! I would like to save that $10 if I could. Anyone know if Apple does such things?
Also, I have a 1g iPod touch that was synced with my windows pc. I figured out how to transfer my paid apps and other apps to the new touch, but it says it can only be linked to one iTunes. Is there a way for me to set it up so I can sync the ipod from my new mac from now on? but keep the apps?
    THANKS!

Suz, as long as iTunes on both computers are authorized, you should be able to start synching to both. But make sure you do a back-up on your old computer(the one you was synching to all along) before starting to sync your apps to the new one. If you're not sure whether your iTune has been authorized, you can click on 'Store' then go down to the last section where it should say 'View My Account (your e-mail)...'. If not then Authorize it again. Since you may not have all the music files from your previous computer, you should uncheck all sync categories check boxes until you've transfer them by other means to your new pc, otherwise it will erase them from your iPod. The first time you click the sync button(assuming you've already authorized both pcs), a message will pop up asking whether you will want to 'Erase data' or 'Transfer purchases', click on 'Transfer purchases' and iTune will automatically transfer all your iTune purchased songs and apps to your new iTune.

  • Restore new iPad Mini from iPad 1 backup. Ican update new apps from Apple store but most of my apps have been showing the Waiting status for over 12 hours. Store shows them as installed. What gives?

Restore new iPad Mini from iPad 1 backup. Ican update new apps from Apple store but most of my apps have been showing the Waiting status for over 12 hours. Store shows them as installed. What gives?

If the downloads are stalled or "waiting" - try these suggestions.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - a song or podcast .... if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first. Only one thing can download at a time on the iPad so that could be what is causing the problem.
If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Sign in and then try to update again. Tap one waiting icon only if necessary to start the download stream.
You can also try deleting the waiting icons - tap and hold down on an icon until it wiggles - the tap the X on the icon to delete it. Then try to download again.
You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your app preferences and device settings again.
If all else fails, download the updates or the apps in iTunes on your computer and then sync the content to your iPad.

  • If I get a new iPod touch from Amazon, will it have the new apps?

If I order a new iPod touch from Amazon.com today will it have the new apps? Or will Apple recgonize its new and download them for me for free? Just wondering because I don't want to buy a new one and then get stuck without the apps. Thanks

I'm in the same boat. I have $300 in Amazon gift cards for buying an iPod touch, but found this statement on the product page:
"Does not ship with the latest announced new software applications for the Touch. Software upgrades are available via iTunes for $20"
The 16GB Touch sells for $358.99, which is 2% lower than it was the day before the Keynote. I have a feeling Amazon may have a glut of them before the announcement and will wait to see if Apple even sells them to Amazon for resell.

  • HT1212 I just bought a new ipod touch from a friend but she didn't reset it and everytime that I try to rest it, it keeps saying "Ipod is disable, connect to Itunes" but I'am connected to Itunes and it also says put in correct passcode?? how do I reset it

I just bought a new Ipod ios from a friend and she didn't reset it before she gave it to me and when I try to connect it to my laptop it keeps saying "Ipod is disable, connect to itunes"and it says to put in the correct passcode but I don't know what the passcode is and now I can't get ahold of my friend that sold it to me. So my question is: How do I reset the passcode and the Ipod touch so that I can sync it to my laptop and so that I can enjoy my new Ipod Touch?

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

  • How do I download current music and apps to new ipod touch from old ipod touch?

My daughter is getting a new IPod Touch and we aren't sure how to transfer all the apps and music to the new one. Does it download easily from her account when she registers the new IPod. We don't want to have to buy everything all over again.
    Thanks!

You can sync as many ipods as you like to one computer.
Plug in the new one and sync whatever you lime to it.
Everything that is on the old ipod should be on your computer.

  • How to restore new ipad air from old ipad backup using itunes.

I'm trying to get all of the content from an old iPad onto new iPad air. I backed up the old iPad on iTunes, and when I plug in the new iPad air, it prompted that I must first update the software in order to back it up. I updated the software, but now I'm not sure how to get the old iPad backup onto the new iPad because it isn't seeing the new iPad as brand new anymore. How to I transfer the old stuff onto the new one after updating the software? I'm using iTunes for Windows.

    Hey jh232808,
Thanks for the question. If I understand correctly, you want to restore a backup to a new iOS device. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.
Back up and restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch using iCloud or iTunes - Apple Support
    Restore using iTunes
Use these steps if you have a new iOS device, or you need to to restore after a factory reset:
Connect your device to the computer that has your backup.
Install the latest version of iTunes.
Choose File > Devices > Restore from Back up.
You won't be able to install a backup that uses a later version of iOS than the device you're trying to install it on. Find out why.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    Have a good one,

  • Can't charge new iPod Touch from iPod hi-fi

When I plugged my new Touch (late 2009, I think they call it) into the charging dock of my Apple hi-fi, I got a message that the battery could not charge from this device. It played songs just fine. I plugged in my first-generation Touch to confirm that the Apple Hi-Fi could charge it, and it could.
I have other, older, charging docks (including a Bose Sound Dock) at various locations in my house, but haven't tried them yet. Is the new Touch unable to charge from such docks, or is it the Apple Hi-Fi specifically that is somehow incompatible with the the new Touch?

Perhaps I can explain this a bit more.
Originally, iPods charged using the "firewire" connections which are part of the Dock Connector. I believe the voltage used was 12 volts. Later iPods were charged using the USB 5 volt connections, which are also part of the Dock Connector, but I think those iPods could also be charged by either the USB or the firewire connections.
Several manufacturers of chargers/charging stations/Docks for iPods did not add the USB 5 volt charge feature, probably because they were saving money and missed the incredibly obvious - that Apple would one day drop the firewire charge feature.
That day has come; the latest iPods cannot be charged by the firewire connections, so if your Dock uses the firewire but not the USB, then it will not charge an iPod that only uses USB, such as the Touch. I have an eighteen month old Bose Sound Dock and it will not charge my iPod Touch. (I don't know if Bose have rectified this oversight yet.) I also have two Klipsch RoomGroove units. When the iPod Touch first came out, the Klipsch would not charge it. However, very quickly, Klipsch RoomGrooves disappeared from the shelves (here in the UK anyway) and when they reappeared, they did charge the Touch. I saw this happening and waited until the newer version of the Klipsch was available.
Now you may think that Apple were in some way wrong to stop the firewire charging but, think about this. Originally, the iPod's electronics and battery both required 12 volts to work. As technology improved, both the batteries and the electronics could be made to work reliably with only 5 volts, which happens to be the voltage used by USB connections. So if Apple now have a device that can be charged by the USB on your computer, they don't need to include a charger in with the iPod. So the iPods that charged by either firewire or USB were a case of Apple ensuring that old style Docks would continue to work. But that was not going to last forever.
There is no doubt in my mind that designers should have seen the firewire issue coming!

  • I'm trying to restore my Ipod touch from a backup however I don't remember the password, how do I find out what the password is?

My ipod was sent into reset mode when it was pluged into my bf's computer. I pluged it into my computer where itunes is and itunes said I had to reset it, so I did and now I'm trying to restore it from a back up in itunes. Which I didn't know exsisted and didn't set up but it's locked with a password and I have no idea what the password is. Is there a way for me to find out?

    - If the backup has a password (called encrypted backup) then you either have to remember password or correctly guess the passcode or set up the iPod as new.
    - A fw other users have reported the same problem. Tyr using other passwords like your Apple ID PW:

  • Restoring new iPad 2 from iPhone backup?

Can I easily make my iPad 2 have same folder structure as my iPhone 4?  I just got iPad 2 and tried to "Restore from Backup" from my iPhone 4, however, the folder structure was completely lost.  Apps are on iPad, but not organized into my folders like my iPhone 4.  Also, my links to websites that were on my Home Screens are also missing completely.  It seems tedious to have to manually re-create everything I have done on my iPhone.  Also, are there any disadvantages of restoring from the Backup of an iPhone?  Have I messed up somethin

What if you get the "iPhone couldn't restore due to corruption"? That might be because of a difference in the iOS or simple because the previous backup process wasn't fully successful. Then I might recommend you to take a look at the iPhone Backup Extractor. Also I would love to see you picking up such a subject, how we can deal with corrupt backups. Cheers!

  • Restore new ipad air from iPad 2 backup

I backed up my ipad 2 to iTunes by USB cable with no problem a month ago.  I bought a new iPad Air and want to restore it from the old iPad backup.  When I connect the new Air by USB to my iMac (late 2012), running 10.8.5, with iTunes open, no device shows up, and a window says that iTunes cannot connect to the device "Peggy's iPad" because the device timed out. The operating system and iTunes version are the same as when I made the backup from my old iPad. What happened?

If you don't have teh most current version of iTunes, you probably will not be able to sync the iPad Air.
Also, from the error message you give, it sounds to me like it's trying to sync via wifi and not via the cable, is this how your iTunes is configured for the new iPad Air?  I have no issues syncing my iPad Air to a MacBook Pro running Mavericks (OS X v10.9) using the USB cable, although I did intentionally set mine up as a new device rather than as a restore of my iPad 2 backup...

  • Where can we find the new iPod Touch 2.0 software to download it?

I am in the United States in Northern Ca..
It is Friday early Morning after 12 and after 1, I was wondering if anyone knows if the New iPod Touch software 2.0 is or will be ready soon for download or do we all have to wait till 8 in the morning to download the new 2.0 iPod Touch software?
Where can we find the new Software at the Apple web site to downlod it? I looked everywhere on the apple web site trying to find a place to download it, does anyone know??
I have updated the to the new version of iTunes 7.7..
In the iTunes where I sync my iPod Touch where in the summary section it says "check for Update", next to it, it says "iTunes will automatically check for an update again on 7/15/08", I also hit the back up button and it tells me that 1.1.4 is the current Version, do I have to wait till the 15th for that update??
I was reading somewhere on the apple web site that in order to update to 2.0 I have to restore my iPod Touch and have a backup, is this just for the iPhone to restore and create a backup? if not then how do I create a 2nd back up?
    Thanks,
    Mrs. Trisha Foster

the update is ready on the servers but is just waiting to be pushed through to itunes. I am in australia and I contacted apple technical support, that's what they told me. Don't restore your ipod, just wait and when you connect and click on update, it will update your ipod and there will also be an icon on the home page of the itunes store. We are all waiting in anticipation.
