Restore of older backups

Good Day,
I have a Blackberry Curve 9300
How can i restore older backups?
I have seen that you can only backup a maximum of 3 times via Blackberry Protect before it gets replaced by newer backups
I have backed up a very important  conversation and cannot restore that conversation as it has been replaced a newer backup
How can i restore the older backup

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Refer:
KB25063 How to use BlackBerry Protect to restore data to a BlackBerry smartphone
Protect does indeed have limitations (for which there is no way to overcome, btw -- though the limitation is 4 backups, not 3)...quite naturally so, since an "unlimited" approach would certainly not be feasible. Further, Protect is only one portion of a good backup process...see the link in my auto-sig on this post for a full backup process that would allow you to retain as many backup versions back as you have local PC disk space for.
Good luck!

Most likely you have Office 2004 which are PPC-only applications and will not work in Lion. Upgrade to Office 2011. Other alternatives are:
Apple's iWork suite (Pages, Numbers, and Keynote.)
Open Office (Office 2007-like suite compatible with OS X.)
    NeoOffice (similar to Open Office.)
LibreOffice (a new direction for the Open Office suite.)

How can I restore an older backup from my PC to my iPhone 4?

In general iTunes keeps only one backup, the most recent. Except when you update iOS, then the last backup of the previous version is preserved. You can restore it by connecting to iTunes, clicking on Restore Backup..., then click on the name of the backup. If there are any backups that can be restored they will appear in a dropdown.
If you back up to iCloud it keeps the 3 most recent backups.

How do I restore from older backups on iCloud?

Go to Settings>General>Reset, tap Erase All Content and Settings (which will erase the phone), then go through the setup screens on the phone and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud backup.  Sign into your iCloud account, agree to the terms and conditions and you will then be asked what backup you want to restore from.  (Apple states that it maintains your three most recent backups.)

  • How to restore a older backup with a new SIM

    Hi everyone!
I have a problem. I have a Iphone 4, which I bought with a contract in the UK. I recently went to a shop to unblock it (I live in France now)
Before I unlocked it I made a back up (i am new to this stuff) and now my phone is working with a new SIM card but when I do a back up from the Itunes, nothing comes back. I only see the apps that I downloaded in my Itunes, but no texts/emails/messages/photos. I made a newer back up/sync after that by mistake. But that wouldnt be a problem right? I can choose an older back up but it doesnt do much....
I tried it once before I dropped my phone at a shop to unlock it, and I could restore it but it took 3 hours so I cancelled. If I restore my backups now, it only takes a few seconds. So I think it is lost??
So somebody, please help me. I dont know what to do! I lost all my contacts etc...
    Please...!
    Cheers
    Marie

  • HT1766 Restoring from older backup

Can I restore my iPad to an older backup? I hooked up my iPad to restore it to the last backup, but it auto synced and created a new backup. If I go into Edit/Preferences/Devices I see a list of backups. Can I delete the current backup and restore to the previous?

Right click on the name of your iPad in the Devices list of the iTunes app on your computer and choose Restore from Backup. You should then be able to choose which backup to use.

  • Forcing me to set up as new/restore to older backup

Hey, I'm trying to sync my phone to my itunes and am having some issues with it. When I plug my phone into my computer, itunes asks me to either set it up as a new iPhone, or restore from backup. I've had my phone for several months now, and I set it up in the at&t store. I use my phone for business, so I really can't afford to set up my phone as a new device, and lose everything that I have on it right now. How can I manipulate itunes into not making me set up my phone as a new device, and see it as it already has everything on it? I've got a lot of music on my computer that isn't on my icloud (older itunes accounts and such) that I want to have on my phone. My computer is a macbook pro, if that makes any difference. and I've got a 5S.

    Welcome to the discussions,
are you using the same iTunes account? If no, did you authorize iTunes with his account info again before you connected his phone?
To keep your accounts separate on one PC, create a new windows user, log in, disable autosync in iTunes, set up the second account and back up manually by right clicking on the device in the device list and choosing "backup". This will save data, pictures taken with the phone and settings to itunes. See what's included in this backup here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
Transfer your purchases the same way to copy all apps and bought media from the Store to your computer. Music, unless bought in iTunes and transferred with your purchases, is not part of the backup. But you can share music between different accounts on one computer: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1203
Set up at least one contact and event on your computer to be able the merge your calendars and contacts after your phone got wiped during the first sync.
The rest of the data can be restored from the backup you made.

  • How do I restore an older backup to my iPod Touch 5g?

I did a reset of my iPod Touch 5g when a lot of storage got locked, would not release, after I had deleted a large amount of music.  Redoing all of the settings will be a royal pain!
I have an older backup (from before iOS8 update I think) on my PC.  I would like to restore that backup.  The restore routine in iTunes only shows the most recent backup, but I found some older ones in the C:\Users\<name>\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup folder, one that matches the list of backups shown under Preferences | Devices.  How do I make that backup available to the restore routine?

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Forgot passcode or device disabled
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.

  • Upgrade to 3.0 - NOT smooth - Any way to restore an older backup?

I have an iPhone 3G (nov 2008 model). I accepted letting it upgrade to 3.0 this morning. I had 2.2.1 and it did a proper backup right before starting the 3.0 upgrade.
Halfway through the upgrade, I got a wierd error message saying it could not upgrade my phone and of course gave me the black screen with the USB cable - meaning you gotta start over.
I'm thinking, it did a backup so it should be able to install the new OS and restore all the data. 6 hours later, it's still trying to sync. It lost the restore cause right after it finally did install 3.0, it performed a backup. Great. Overwrote my older backup I'm sure.
So all I want is for it to restore the backup it completed BEFORE I started the 3.0 upgrade. Is there anyway to restore to an older backup or does iTunes ONLY keep one backup?

I've never done a restore, but if you choose 'Restore' in the iTunes menu (when phone is connected) you should be able to see what restore version you can perform.

  • How can I restore an older backup?

During today's operating system update on my iPhone 5, something went wrong. The update didn't work, and the phone was restored to factory settings.
I went to restore my latest backup - fully expecting that the latest connection and sync backed everything up prior to the software update. Unfortunately, iTunes actually backed up the post-restore to factory settings instead of the backup created earlier in the day. As a result, I am without my photos, text messages, updated contacts, etc.
How can I find and restore this morning's backup instead of this afternoon's factory default backup?
    Help greatly appreciated!!

Does this mean I have no recoverable backups for this device?
Other than the one listed, that would appear to be the case.
It's curious that backups for two other iPhones in the family are dated from 1982 and 1981.
Since the first iPhone was released in 2007, those are not iPhone backups.

  • Using Time Machine to restore an *older* BackUp drive

Here's my situation - I have currently been backing up my 2 computers (A Macbook Pro and a Mac Pro tower) to two separate external bootable drives (not Time Machines). I then take the drives off site in case of theft or fire, and know that if I need to I can always restore from these bootable backups.
However, because of the time and effort of bringing them in from their offsite location, I only back up once every few weeks, sometimes a month or more. So I just purchased an internal drive (separate from my system drive) to use as a Time Machine drive, for both of my computers (only one partition). Since they will be backing up every day, I will retain much more recent material in case of drive failure.
My question is this - if I have a drive failure on my current internal system drive, and the internal Time Machine is intact, is it possible for me to take my external bootable backup (say 3 weeks older than Time Machine in how recently it was backed up), make a cone of that on a new internal system drive, and then use Time Machine to restore that drive to what is most current on Time Machine?
Does this question make sense? I'm essentially trying to use a combination of external bootable drives and Time Machine in order to have peace of mind, knowing that I will have a complete, bootable restore, but it will then be able to become as up to date as the last Time Machine backup.

Let Time Machine back up every hour, as it's designed. That will protect you best.

The question makes sense until you realize that Time Machine backups contain everything you need (unless you do something silly, like exclude your system files).
Once the new drive is installed and formatted, you can restore your entire system from the TM backups faster than you can copy the clone to the new internal HD. See #14 in the Frequently Asked Questions *User Tip,* also at the top of this forum. Note that you use the Snow Leopard Install disc only for the Installer on it; you don't install OSX from it.

  • Windows Restore no longer list newer backup sets after restoring an older backup set ???

I'm running Windows Server 2008 R2 x64. I run Windows backup every night and grandfather the backup disks every month. I start each month (and tape) with a full backup, then do incremental backups for the rest on the month.
I accidently destroyed my RAID 5  by disconnecting a couple disks while sucking the dusk out of the machine.  I remove dust at least twice a year.  This time I had to recreate my Intel Rapid Storage Technology that is a feature on my motherboard.
After which, I successfully restored the array from the latest backup.
While dusting my UPS, I accidently cut power to my server.  This clumsy accident ended up corrupting the data in the array.  The array itself was intact, but there was unrecoverable corruption of my Server 2012 R2.  I had to repeat the windows
server restore again, but the newest backups including the one I already recovered earlier, are no longer listed.
QUESTION:  How can I get Windows Server R2 Restore to recognize the newest backup I restored hours earlier?
    - Michael Faklis
    - Michael Faklis

    Hi Michael,
I assume you are using GUI to do the recovery so please test "wbadmin get versions" to see if the needed restore versions are listed.
If so, try "wbadmin start recovery" to see if it will work.
Meanwhile if it will still not work, which restore point is the newest available one? It could be caused if incremental backup are corrupted cause of VSS metadata corrupted - so only a newest full backup will work in this moment.

  • Time Machine doesn't want to restore from older backups

Hi I really am disappointed,I have a Transcend 500GB Hard drive and I have periodically been making backups from my Macbook Pro 13inch,when I tried to restore a file in Time Machine it either didn't respond or I could not move the slider to a different date.I then tried to do a system restore from one of my dates in Time Machine with my Mac OS install CD.It did the backup restore but then told me I had to shut down my Mac,I did but each time it would only come back to that message.I had to do a clean install,But now it seems I have lost all my backups all I want is some files and ma iTunes library. Can anyone help!!!Greatly appreciated.

Were you using your Snow Leopard Install disc? A Leopard disc can't successfully restore a Snow Leopard backup. If that's what you did, just do it over, with the Snow Leopard disc -- it should be fine.
I had to do a clean install,But now it seems I have lost all my backups all I want is some files and ma iTunes library. Can anyone help!!!Greatly appreciated.
If using the Snow Leopard disc doesn't work, repair your backups, per #A5 in Time Machine - Troubleshooting (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of this forum).
If you haven't done any backups since reloading, don't.
Then see if your backups are there. (You may need to use the +*Browse ...+* option, per #E2 in Troubleshooting.) If so, and if you haven't done any backups since reloading, you may be able to use +Migration Assistant+ to recover your apps, users, data, etc. See the pink box in #19 of Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of this forum) for details.

  • Itunes restoring from older backup

so about 3 days ago my mother threw my phone into a pitcher of water and the buttons, speakers, and microphone went out. so before it actually completly dies on me, i wanted to back it up one last time and restore it to see maybe if some of the issues would go away since i need it to last until the iphone 5s comes out. so i backed it up (2 times actually for good measure) and restored it. after restoring it i went to put all my stuff back on it. except the back up i need is not on there. instead it gives me the option to restore from backups it did when i plugged it in to restore my back ups ( basically they're blank back ups since nothing is on them).
but when i go into preferences the back up i need is there, but it has a lock on it and it doesnt show up when i click restore from back up.
i need to use the one from yesterday at 4:58 due to the fact it has all my photos on it (12gb to be exact) and also app data.
is there any way i can use the one that is locked or be able to find my old back ups on my computer? (backed up about every 3-5 days)
