Restore old Larger Desktop

Just updated to10.3. I could read the icon titles on the previous version but the new improved miniturized desktop is too small to read and the Magnify function does not allow panning to the whole screen as well as being clumsy and awkward. Is there a fix to allow the old format icons. I prefer my Q to any phone I've had but if I can't read it it is not much use.

Only way I know to get what you want is to downgrade the OS back to 10.2.1.

    3. With blackberry link software it does not show option to restore old BB phone backup
    Question
How to restore existing old backup from PC even the old device is not available !!!!!!

    Hey nalomar,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
    Thanks for the question.
BlackBerry Link can not restore BlackBerrry 7 or older backup files.  If the BlackBerry Torch smartphone was still working, you can migrate your data over by following these steps: www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB33322
Let me know if you have any more questions.
    Cheers.

I have now downloaded all of my CD's to my itunes library and have since only purchased new music using itunes Store.  This itunes library is stored on an old Dell Desktop that I am getting ready to replace with an iMac; how can I move the music? 86GB
Is the music I downloaded from my CD's already in the iCloud or only the music I purchased on itunes?

No, it will sync the ipod to the content of the MBA which presumably has nothing on it (= erasing content of iPod and replacing it with nothing).

Quick answer if you let iTunes manage your music:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Start iTunes with the option key held down and guide it to the new location of the library.

  • Restored old phone to new phone and lost ALL my pics, is there any way to "unrestore" a phone?  i thought i backup my new phone before the restore but am unable to find it.  HELP

Got a new phone.  Took pics on vacation with new phone.  Wanted to sync old phone with new phone.  Restored old phone to new phone, not realizing it would erase new phone content.  Is there any way to get that info back?  Thought i had performed a back up, but am unable to find it.  HELP

With a backup yes, no backup then no.

  • How can i restore old backup without deleting my existing data

how can i restore old backup without deleting my existing data. unfortunately i have deleted few of my old photos and restored them from my old backup. i got the deleted photos but lost my recent data and photos. how can i get those too.

You cannot. However, if your back up is through iTunes on your computer and you do an internet search for something like "iPhone BackUpExtractor", I believe there is software that will help you access the SQL database that is your back up. You may be able to pull out what you need.
Once you restore from a back up, any data that was on the phone is gone.

  • I need to move the iTunes library to an External Hard Drive to free up space on iMac.  Need suggestions on type of External Hard Drive to use.  A Multimedia Hard Drive like LaCie LaCinema Classic HD Multimedia Hard Drive OR a Large Desktop Hard Drive?

I need to move an iTunes library to an External Hard Drive to free up space on iMac.  I Need suggestions on type of External Hard Drive to use.  Should you use a Multimedia Hard Drive like LaCie LaCinema Classic HD Multimedia Hard Drive OR a standard Large Desktop Hard Drive like Western Digital/Seagate/LaCie?

There is no benefit to the multi-media feature on the first drive you mentioned. If you are going to look at differences between certain drives, I'd look at the differences in reliability first.

how do i transfer a movie from my old hp desktop to a macbook pro?
On my old computer I had two movies: Fight Club and Garden State and I'd really like to watch them on my new MacBook Pro! But I dont know how to transfer them onto my new laptop help?!

Right-click them in iTunes, locate the files, move them as you would any other, and drag them into the open iTunes window on the MacBook Pro. iTunes Store rentals can only be moved through an iPod or similar device.

  • Easiest way to transfer photos from my old Windows desktop to new MacBook?

I am an Apple newbie. What is the easiest way to transfer 7 years of photos from my old Windows desktop (Vista operating system) to my brand-new MacBook Air (OS 10.9.5)? Please answer in specific and simple terms. I'm not a techie. Thanks.

That does not create a backup since the photos are on the same disk as the iphoto library, it simply wastes disk space - when the computer or the disk fails or the computer is stolen everything is gone as it is all in the same place - to have a backup you need a copy on a different disk - if you drag the photo from the external disk onto the iPhoto icon in the the dock iPhoto will import them (be sure that the default setting for "copy imported items to the iPHoto library" is checked - do not uncheck it - then you will have the photos in iPhoto and a backup on the external drive
You also need to get an external drive about 2 to 2 1/2 times the size of the iphoto library formatted mac OS extended (journaled) and start running timeMachine so you always have hourly backups

    What?
I did mention using an external drive, did i not?  Copying the photos to the external drive, and then copying the photos from the external drive to the mac. means they now exist in the external drive as well as the new Mac, the external drive is now effectively a backup of the photos. .
I never mentioned anything about iPhoto.   Just a straight copy though Windows Explorer, and Finder on the Mac.

  • Restoring Old Photos - Actions

I have Photoshop's CS5 on a Mac.  Colin Smith has a very nice video on restoring old photos with Channels and then using Content Aware Fill with the Spot Healing Brush.
I have about 140 scanned old photos which I want to improve before putting them in a PhotoBook.  Can anyone give me the step by step Actions, with stops
and starts, so I can automate the process of cropping, improving color tone and Spot Healing these photos one after another and speed up the process?
I'd appreciate any help, suggestions, ideas.
    MJG

restoring old photos isnt as hard as it seems you will be using mostly the image>adjustment comands when i usually edit i start off with adjusting the levels then i move on to the curves which adjusts your image so different sections are light and others are dark the next think i would do is move on to the hue and saturation this often seems overextreme as you dont what to turn a normal looking photo purple but adding a very slight change can often make a big difference. as an extra affect the photo filter can sometimes add alot to the photo. i often add a slight sepia tinge to my photos which makes them look very cool and vintagy.
the final think i would do is use the healing brush and fix blemishes and if this proves to be annoying as it sometimes can be as it makes certain sections look blurry the clone stamp tool is really cool! all you do is pick a section you want to clone over the top of a blemish then you click alt whilst clicking the area and you then position your mouse over the blemish and it will take whatever area you originally clicked on and place it ontop of the blemish (:
mainly i would sugest using the image>adjustment commands as they are really simple but really go a long way in cleaning up old photos
    hope this helped!

  • Upgrading an 8 year old G4 Desktop on a budget - is it worth it?

    Hi all.
I have an 8 year old G4 desktop (with DVD burner) and 17" flat panel display. Both are in immaculate, time capsule condition. After some extensive traveling the last few years, I recently got them out of storage and was hoping to trade them in or sell them to upgrade to a laptop for easier mobility, etc. Looking at the resell prices on eBay, it seems that people can hardly give these machines away. I was hoping to be able to trade in the G4 Tower and maybe get $200 towards a 3-5 year old MacBook, but am uncertain how realistic this is.
Some people are suggesting to keep the G4 Tower get an external terrabyte drive, an airport card (no wireless here!), a fan (it's loud) and an XLR and 1/4" cable audio/video interface for music-making and lossless audio conversion stuff.
It seems like it may be a lot of money to invest in a nearly 10 year old desktop. However, I do like the idea of a solid workstation, but am I being a luddite here? I would still need to purchase an audio interface for a laptop too.
Any suggestion or thoughts? Your help & advice is appreciated.

In terms of buying a laptop, is portability a necessity or a preference for you? If you checked eBay, you might find a used Mac mini for about $500, such as this recent listing that sold for $470. You could connect your display to it, although an ADC connector would need the adapter previously mentioned. An Intel processor-based Mac mini would be much faster than your G4, but not offer the upgrade potential options that a mini-tower has. You didn't indicate which model G4 you have, but you might be able to sell it for more (than you'd get at eBay), if you were to sell it locally through Craig's List.
