Restore older version backup

Hi,
I started to install the new iphone os this evening.  It was taking awhile, I was on the phone with my mom and wanted to help her try to find an old purchase so logged in itunes as her.  Well the download finished an it tried to install but I'm assuming got confused since I was logged in as her.  I signed out and logged in as me, but I got a message it was in recovery mode and the only option was to restore to factory settiing.  I didn't think this would be a problem since I could restore from backup.  Well, when I tried to restore from backup it said I could not because the backup did not complete.  Now even if I right click on the iphone in itunes to look at older versions, only ones from after this happened appear.  I back up my iphone all the time and am hoping I could somehow access a version from earlier than this evening.  I back up to icloud...is there a way to get to previous versions????  Would more appear if I installed the previous OS?  I have backed up to my computer in the past, but don't have a "Mobile" folder in "Application Support". If I can't restore I will lose every single text message, and the work I did in 1Password yesterday than I have not synced to my computer.  I am so sick about this loss I will have to take, and because I'm beating myself up for not recognizing the problem that would occur, and for not being able to use a backup since I make it a regular practice to back up.  I AM SOOO HOPING SOMEONE WILL COME TO THE RESCUE!!!!!  PLEASE HELP!!!!!
Michelle

I can't believe this, but I GOT EVERYTHING BACK!!!
For some reason the title of the oldest backup was 5:51 PM.  BUT on closer inspection it was saved at 3:21 PM.  I restored to it and it was indeed from this afternoon!
YAYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Problem with Rescue & Recovery and older version backups

    I have R&R version 4.23 on a R61i running XPP. Two problems:
    1) It will not recognize older version backups on external HD. Any way to retrieve a few files only from old backup?
    2) How do I delete an older version backup on internal HD which is not accessible but taking up lot of space? It seems to be hidden but is there.
    Thanks!

    hey harryr,
could you provide a screenshot of any error that you're receiving when you tried to use the R&R ?
Curious to know, those backup that you have, was it done before upgrading to R&R v4.23 ? and if you copied the backup file from external to internal HDD, are you able to recover the backup ?
For number 2, is that backup located on the C:\ ? If it is, try changing the view to show all hidden files.
Also, do check if your system is updated too.

  • Any way to restore older version of software?

The lastest upgrade killed my ATV2. I tried restoring the device via a USB connection to iTunes, and got a message saying it cannot be restored. I followed suggestions and updateded iTunes, turned off all security software, removed extra USB devices; all to no avail. The unit was working fine before the upgrade. Is there any way to restore the older version which was working fine?
    iMacOSX 10.6 iTunes 11.1

The update went badly and AppleTV needs to be restored to current software via iTunes on a computer.
You need a USB to microUSB cable.
Try to restore the AppleTV software to current version software using instructions here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4367
Pay attention to differences in power connection depending on whether or not you have AppleTV2 or AppleTV 3.

  • 16 bit depth photo restoration, older version of Photoshop.

I use an older version of Photoshop.  It is able to import and read a 16 bit depth file.  Though it is limited in what it can do with this bit depth, it can do the levels and curves adjustments on an image. I want to have the best quality scan to start with for photo restoration in my older Photoshop. I won't be able to directly import the file with my older Photoshop from the scanner.  If I scan a photo as a 16 bit 600 ppi image, I'm afraid color information will be lost when I open it in the older Photoshop.  Is there any way I can open and save such a file without losing all that good color information? I know I would need to save it in a format that supports 16 bit depth like png versus jpeg.

Not exactly sure how Image Capture works on lion, but i belive i read that since os x 10.5 that it should scan in 16 bits/channel
Are you able to use the software that came with the scanner instead of Image Capture or maybe you need to update your scanner software or
possibly check the preference in the Image Capture scanner preferences to use Twain Software When Possible.
Or scanner software like VueScan which is much better than most software that ships with scanners.

Anyway if the scan is saved as a 16 bits/channel tif as output by the scanner to a place (folder) on your hard drive, then ps7 should open it as such.

  • Restore older version of apps

after an update I can't use some of my apps anymore, which I could use before.
is there any way to restore an older version of the apps so that they are compatible with ios 4.2.1 ?

Unless you still have the older versions or if the older versions are still available in the iTunes Store, then you are probably out of luck. Try contacting the developer to see if he can help you out.

  • Can I restore Older OS Backup (Umbrella Icon) Files on iDisc with TimeMach?

Here is my horror story ... my old G4 Laptop Hard Drive crashed. (It's not that bad ... cause my wife was forced to allow me to buy this new iMac.)
I faithfully backed up using the old backup on the older OS that had the umbrella icon. Problem is, we don't have another Mac with that particular program.
QUESTION: Is is possible to restore that information on my iDisc to my new iMac?

Click here and use the software to restore it. The Backup service included with MobileMe and Time Machine are separate products.

  • Restoring older phone backup to new phone

Please correct me if I'm wrong...
I've had blackberrys forever.  About 50% of the time i got the latest phone becasue i damaged the previous one.  I often did whole phone backups, but could never restore the backup to the new phone.  I rarely got the chance to do the phone "switch/transfer" method.  There's got to be a way to do this switch from the backup?  In general all my email and contacts were from a BES server - so not a problem.  -But media, apps, settings all had to be set or downloaded manually again.
Please tell me I've been missing something that exists.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

What does that mean? I have no idea how to help when all you tell me is "didn't work for me."
With that description the problem could be anything from the computer wouldn't boot up to I can't find my BlackBerry.

  • HT1766 How to restore older versions from those suggested from iCloud

    Hi,
I've deleted a contact from my 4S and thought I could restore it later from my iCloud account.
Some days later I tried the restore but realized it was just from 5 days earlier and I couldn´t go more in past to restore.
So basically, I need to restore a contact with plenty of information on it. How can I do that (I do daily backups).
    Thanks for help.
    Best Regards,
    Luís

Use Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings. This will empty your device and get it into setup state but it will not delete iOS 6.1. You can then do setup again and restore from your iCloud backup.

  • Restore older version

Is it possible to restore the previous version of PAGES?  This new one is terrible.  Thank-you

Are you calling this an improvement ? It's a travesty.

  • Restoring Older Versions of Safari

I am using OS 10.2.8 and it originally came with Safari. Before I had my 120 GB HD, I had to make room. I delete Safari and IE and kept only Netscape. Now that Netscape has turned out version 8 for Windoze but not the Mac, I want to switch back to Safari. However, I can't install it from the disks that came with my OS 10.2 installation, unless of course I do a clean install. HOW CAN I GET SAFARI BACK WITHOUT DOING THAT?

The most recent version of Safari for 10.2.8 can be downloaded from a link on Macupdate. For some reason, there is not a direct link from Apple's web site.

  • How can I restore lost bookmarks in older version of mozilla when I uninstalled mozilla? When I reinstalled mozilla (new version) the old bookmarks were missing

I've tried restoring to an earlier date and only the newer version of mozilla comes up without the bookmarks that I had in the older version of mozilla. I didn't do a backup of my bookmarks in the older version before uninstalling it. I thought mozilla would just keep them in my newer version of mozilla. I would like to get the bookmarks back that were in my older version of mozilla.

Did you chose to remove personal data when uninstalling?
Firefox will delete your profile folder in that case and you lose personal data like bookmarks.
Did Firefox create a new default profile?
Note that a System Restore can restore older versions of.ini and .js files like profiles.ini, so you need to be cautious when doing s System Restore and always first create a full backup of the Firefox profile folder.<br />
You can consider to 9temporarily) undo the restore and backup your personal data.

  • Older versions of iPhoto

    hi,
after updating my iphoto to 9.4.2, I lost a lot of stuff from my book projects...   it was working fine before I updated with version 9.1.2
I would like to restore version 9.1.2 and delete the update. I tried using Time machine.. it seems to install fine until I started iphoto and got the following message
iPhoto cannot be opened because of a problem.
Check with the developer to make sure iPhoto works with this version of OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and OS X.
Click Report to see more detailed information and send a report to Apple.
Does anybody know how to restore older versions?? or a suggestion on how I get the books back to the original format??
deeply grateful to anyone who can help...  its deperate!!

You will have to reinsatll the older version of iPhoto and restore the library to that same version from your backups, i.e. like from Time Machine.
Have you tried rebuilding/repairing your library as follows: make a temporary, backup copy of the library if you don't already have one (Control-click on the library and select Duplicate from the contextual menu) and try the following:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - Since only one option can be run at a time start with #3 followed by #4 and #1 as needed.

  • Restoring Time Machine backup to older version of OS X

    Hello all,
I'm fairly sure I know the answer to this, but I'm not finding anything definitive so I thought I'd turn to the experts here. I accidentally posted this to the Mac Pro forum and I'm not sure how to delete it there. Figured I'd post it to the correct place anyway.
I support a school district using MacBook Pro laptops. We are licensed for OS X 10.6 on these machines. A teacher upgraded on his own to 10.8, so I have to wipe his drive and start over with 10.6. He's doing a Time Machine backup to restore his files once he's back on the correct version of the OS, but I'm thinking that because the Time Machine backup was done on 10.8, it won't restore files to an older version of the OS. Is this correct? Thanks for the help.

A, why or where is the master system restore image?
    B, Wipe and install
    C. Clone the system once installed for future restore
D, support for 10.6.8 for some security updates continue but for how long
    E. 10.6.8 can be run in a Parallels or other VM under Lion or later (if it has the processing and RAM to handle a guest VM)
    F. TimeMachine - moving between versions and backward does have some challenges, and once it was updated for ML I assume no go
    G. Don't have just one backup drive - they could have pulled the old (and probably is old by now) and start fresh with a new backup set and drive.
http://www.apple.com/support/timemachine - best bet would be the FAQs there and the actual subforum for Mac OS. This forum? is for workstations rather than notebook line.

  • Can I restore a database from a backup that is of older version of SAP B1?

    Hi folks,
I had this backup done about two years ago as a template for any new database that I wanted to create. Recently, my SAP B1 had been upgraded to a newer version. As a result, when I was trying to restore from the backup file that was created two years ago, it does not allow me to do so. Any idea how to work around this or is there any alternative I can have? Please help.
    Thank you.
    Ken

    Hello,
SQL never block you ,you can restore backup with proper user authorization(You can not restore SQL 2008 backup in SQL 2005 ).
and whenever you want to login in SAP then first you upgrade the database then you will login.
in which version you want work in SAP ?
    Thanks
