Restore only saved wifi passwords after Network Settings reset

Hi, I did a Networks Settings reset without realising it would wipe my wifi passwords. I know they're in the backup on my iTunes, but I don't want to do a full backup and lose some recent data from other apps that's on my phone.  How can I restore the wifi passwords without restoring the whole backup and reverting the phone back to a previous state?  Thank you!

I know - as I said, they are in the backup.
And, how do you know that? Did you encrypt your backup? No where in anything you've posted so far have you stated such.
Regardless, the restore from backup process is all or nothing, & I'm not aware of any software that can extract data from an encrypted iPhone backup. So, if in fact your backup is encrypted, then your only option is to restore from that backup.

  • I phone 4 completely crashed after network settings reset?

    hello
i recently experienced difficulty in connecting to wifi on my iphone 4, i tryed a new wifi receiver in the phone but it still did not work. so i tried
to reset the network settings on the phone, and ever since i have done that the phone just crashes every 2/3 minutes and it wont charge....but says it is charging. i tried to do a hardware reset and also tried rebooting it through itunes, but due to it crashing it wouldnt work properly. the battery has now gone dead and the phone wont even turn on.....although when i plug the charger in the screen lights up and i see the apple icon.. but then nothing happens?? im completly confussed, does anyone have any ideas whats wrong with it????

It doesn't matter how competent you are or how many screens you've replaced.
There are NO legitimate sources for iPhone parts. Apple doesn't sell iPhone parts. The only possible sources are counterfeit parts, stolen parts, salvaged parts, or just plain cheap knockoffs.
Your forfeited your ability to get service or support from Apple the minute you opened the phone.
Obviously, something is broken. Find a competent 3rd party repair shop, ask your question someplace like ifixit.com, or buy a new phone.
You can't get advice here on how to fix it.

  • How can I restore auto-saved firefox profile after a troubleshooting reset?

Tried to find a problem opening webpage; went to firefox help>troubleshooting; clicked on "reset"; determined there _is_ a problem with some add-on; tried to restore original profile saved as "Old Firefox Data"; tried to use "Profile Manager" via "Terminal," (per instructions on Mozilla webpage "...profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles") but "Terminal" says "no such file." Re-booted system, re-tried "Terminal," no help. Profile at ~Lib>app>support>firefox>profiles remains as "xxx.default". Can't determine how to restore "Old Firefox Data" without "Profile Manager." (I have a screenshot of "Terminal" response, but can't determine how to send it to you. Firefox v. 18.0.1, Mac OS X 10.6.8, Intel Core 2 Duo.
The "educated guesses" details (below) appears to know I have "LastPass" plugin, but it's not visible on the menu bar, even with View>"Add on bar" checked.
    *&^%^$ computers!!!

Thanks, jscher. The problem - I believe - is that the "profile" folder name is "xxx.default." I think if I were to simply copy/paste the old data contents into the .default folder, the next time I tried the "reset to default" button - well, who knows what would happen?! I've already tried deleting the "xxx.default" file and just leaving the "Old Firefox Date" folder in the "Profiles," but on restart, the "xxx.default" makes its appearance again, ignoring the other folder. A "pointer" has been set somewhere! I suspect that's why Terminal needs to be used, to reset/rename that "pointer." Unfortunately, Terminal seems not to be able to "find" the "profiles" memory, and I don't know enough about Terminal to bash around looking for it! Aaaarrrrrggggggghhhhhhh!

My iPad won't recognize my wifi password after 7.0.2 update.  The password IS correct, but I continue to get the message that the password is incorrect.  Any ideas how to fix this?

I have the same problem too on my iPad 3. One thing that sometimes works is if you go to the App Store and put your password in there after a few tries it may work.

Where they are stored on a C3, and how to recover them to a PC?

    @borga
If you are the Administrator of PC you could always get information from router or via Windows itself, but you are not going to be able to access passwords of all previously visited "hotspots".

I updated my 4S phone to IOS 7.1.2 and lost my wi-fi.   The wi-fi is on, but can't find ANY networks.   I have been through all the steps, from turning the phone on and off, resetting the network settings, resetting the whole phone, redownloading 7.1.2 and lastly going to the Apple store for help.   They tried all the exact same steps I did, took the phone apart and looked at and said it is in "pristine" condition.   They have no idea why it isn't working, but they could offer to sell me another phone.    This is extremely annoying!    They claim it has nothing to do with the update to 7.1.2, but that is when I lost the wi-fi, so it has to be related!

My 4s i-phone which is 2 years old cannot find any wi-fi networks not even my home network... I had the same problem two months ago but i turned off the i-phone for 8 hours and then it was okay... Now it happened again.... I tried to restart the modem but whilst my laptop is connected regularly, my phone still cannot find any wi-fi networks... I restart the i-phone, i reset it, i chose reset network settings, reset all settings, i turned it off for a whole day in case it was overloaded, i turned on the airplane mode and turned it off again, i put it into the freezer for 10 minutes within a zipped bag but 3 days now and i still cannot be connected to my home wifi... I went to the technician today and he told me that it means that wi-fi is broken and that i need to change it with a charge of 70 euro but i have to give my phone for 10 working days so as to be fixed... I am so frustrated and i don't know if i want to give 70 euro for wifi since i don't know if it would make the same problems again...

Hi, I have iphone 4s and since yesterday my personal hotspot will not work. It's always worked fine in the past and I have a plan with three uk which includes tethering. I've tried everything I can think of including resetting network settings, resetting the phone as a new phone but nothing works. When connected to the pc it shows on the iphone screen '1 connection' but the pc says 'no internet connection' I've spoken to three who say it must be a phone fault. Any help appreciated. :-)

If you have restored as new that pretty well covers software issues

May e consider an upgrade with the money ?

  • Any way to retain secure WiFi passwords after a restore from a different backup?

My work's IT dept. loaded on some secure WiFi passwords onto my new work-issued iPad 4 -- when I'm at a site with WiFi, it should connect even though I don't know the passwords.
I have an older iPad that is configured just how I like it.  I know that I can restore from old iPad to new iPad and duplicate those apps and configurations.  However, I believe I will lose the private passwords that IT entered for me.  I have read that I can maintain the passwords if I do an encrypted backup, but that will only help with what I've got now.  The new iPad is just at the stock config.  If I do an encrypted backup of it, then restore from old iPad, I'll still lose my passwords.  If I restore from the new iPad with the encrypted passwords, I'll be back to my stock setup.  I can't have both, right?
    Thanks in advance.

I'm pretty sure they will only enter them on work-issued devices.  The only issue on the config is that I basically wanted to put a clone of the old one on the new one.  Lots of apps and tweaks that I'd rather not have to do all over again.  I think I'm stuck.

  • View saved WiFi passwords?

I have dozens of WiFi passwords stored on my iPod touch. To my knowledge, these passwords are hidden in a network settings database file. *Is there a way to properly view these without exhaustive hacking or jailbreaking?* Any help is much appreciated.

    In a word, no.

  • Help saving proxy information in network settings

    Hi,
I'm hooked up to my school wireless network and everything works but I have to religiously enter my login details. In the network settings > airport > proxies there is a checkbox to enter login details and password under server information but after typing in my details and select "apply now" the boxes uncheck and the information is forgotten.
Oddly it remembers my info for ftp but nothing else (ironic as ftp is blocked on my school, so pritty useless!)
    Thanks!

The other thing I wonder is if your school blocks auto-logins for security reasons. Might want to talk to someone familiar with or in the tech department.

  • Iphone4s no longer connecting to wifi and missing network settings

Earlier today I was using Wi-Fi at work then I went outside and the Wi-Fi went off. I was using the Wi-Fi on my iPhone 4s. When I came back inside it did not automatically go to the Wi-Fi I had to sign in and use the password it kept spinning and spinning and spinning it would never sign it at that time. I tried to forget the network reset the phone do all these things it never would sign into the network again I could never get back on Wi-Fi at work.  Then I came home and my phone used to automatically attach to my home network so it did not and I had to use my home password and it gave the message unable to join network.  So I tried to sign in manually and renew the lease but there was no renew the lease button. So then I was going to try to forget the network and start over but there was no forget the network button. So I tried to reset the network settings and that did not change anything there was still no renew the lease button nor forget this network butto I still cannot sign into my home Wi-Fi

Reboot your router by unplugging it for 30-60 seconds, then try again.

  • How can I see saved wifi passwords iPhone iOS5?

On the iPhone, is there a way to view stored wireless passwords?
A friend of mine forgets his wifi password and it would be far easier for me to look it up than for him to try and find the right menu in the router!
When I was there last I looked it up for him and added it to my phone to test it.

    Drat!
I was hoping there was a secret menu for "Keychain access".
How about a 3rd party app?
Or maybe a way to dig it out of the backup file(s) on my MAC?

  • Continual warning - network settings reset by another app

I noticed when going onto my network settings i was getting a continual message pop up warning of this but by clicking ok the message appeared to reload so continually trying to work in the network profile became impossible. There does not appear to be any application running that could do this . The mac is connected to the internet over a wifi connection though an airport express.
this message sonetimes used to arise when i was having internet connection problems and using the network connection wizard to fix might change the settings i have never seen anything else do it. I eventually was able t ostop the pop up only be managing to click on the lock preventing further change.
I am however concerned that maybe an external source had been able to access and control this preference pane. and that this might be a hostile rather than benign attack. I am running appavhe and rely on port forwarding from the airport express to control access which was hwo various apple technical notes explained how i should set this network up as the integrated firewall would be of little use given i am also running an internal network with 3 macs using wifi

It's not an outside attack. hpr3's help/link is great, just to add...
To stop the pop-up, Go to System Preferences: Security. Check the box next to "Require password to unlock each secure system preference." Then lock Security.
Try this cure for Security update...

  • IPhone Network Settings Reset - Exchange Account Settings

I have an iphone 4 and cannot connect to my wi-fi networks.
I would like to reset network settings but do not want to have my exchange settings deleted.
Can anyone tell me if my exchange account settings will be deleted if I reset network settings?
    thank you,

OK - after the first answers I set up the Mail App of the iPhone new:
    - deleting all mail accounts
    - reseting all the iPhone settings
    - restarting the iPhone
    - set up the Exchange Mail Account new
Because I need my contacts and the calendar today, I set up the mail account as follows:
    - 50 eMails (instead of 200)
    - calendar sync 1 month ago (instead of 6 months)
    - Exchange eMails: yes
    - Exchange contacts: yes
    - Exchange calendar: yes
    - mails to sync: 3 days (instead of 1 month)
These settings I set up today morning at 10 o'clock.
At 14 o'clock all still works fine. But when I look at the Mail App at 15:15 o'clock it hangs again!
    Best regards ...
