Restore photos from older backup?

I recently found some older iphone 3gs backup folders on my computer that had been saved underneath another user. I had never restored from these backups because i did not know they existed. Is there a way i can get this backup onto my iphone 4s without erasing my current data? Im mainly interested in having the old photos back in my camera roll, preferably in the right order. (So that they appear before my recently taken photos)

no way to erase you current data from the old folders  by using sync up
but you can copy the photos to your new folders ,  restore this folder using itunes
ps:the new folder must have all the photos you like so much , which means you just collect your photos into the new folder, and sync up with your iPhone

  • Restoring photos from iTunes backup

    I have an iPhone 5c and I just accidentally deleted 400 photos after iPhoto failed to correctly import them and I chose to delete them off the phone.
    After this happened, I disconnected the phone. I did some research and saw people saying that I could get them back by restoring from a backup in iTunes. Seemed like it should work, since I had just backed it up 10 minutes earlier, before the failed import into iPhoto. However, when I plugged my phone back in, it automatically started backing up again and syncing, and before I could cancel the process, it replaced my earlier backup (before the photos were deleted) with a new backup (after the photos were deleted). When I choose "restore from backup," the only recent backup it will allow me to choose is the later one, after the photos are deleted.
    Is there any way to access the previous backup and recover my photos?
    Before you ask, I do not back up my phone to iCloud, so that is not an option.

    If the device had been used as designed, pictures taken with the device would be regularly copied off the device to a computer for safekeeping.  As such, there would be no need to recover them from a backup.

  • Restore iPad from older backup

    I had my iPad wiped while on vacation because the wrong access code was entered too many times. (lesson #1: unpair bluetooth keyboard from iPad before throwing them in a bag). So my only option was to wipe everything and restore as new. Now being back home, I wanted to restore from the backup I had made on iTunes just before I left. Unfortunately, I did not check the "Prevent iPods etc from syncing automatically" in iTunes prior to plugging my iPad (lesson #2), so iTunes did a backup before I could realize what was happening. So now, I have only one backup available: the one just made, which is useless.
    I do regular backups of my mac with Time Machine, so I'm hoping there's a way to get the older backup by accessing the files on TM. Only I have no clue where to look or what to look for. Help please?
    Thanks!

    If you find the backup, you should be able to restore it To the iPad.
    iTunes: About iOS backups
    Where are iTunes backups stored on your computer
    The folder where your backup data is stored depends on your computer's operating system. Make sure the backup folder is included in your data-backup routine. iTunes places the backup files in these places:
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
    The "~" represents your Home folder. If you don't see Library in your Home folder, hold Option and click the Go menu.
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
    To quickly access the Application Data folder, click Start, and choose Run. Type %appdata% and click OK.
    Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
    To quickly access the AppData folder, click Start. In the search bar, type %appdata% and press Return.

  • HT1414 How do I selectively restore photos from a backup to an iphone?

    I need to recover some space on an iphone to upgrade to ios7. Photos now occupy that space. I want to do an itunes backup (sync) to my PC, download ios7, then selectively restore some of the photos to the phone, leaving the rest in the backup file until I can archive them in another file. I don't want to destroy the photos left behind, just not reload them on an iphone. Any ideas?

    You can't do that. The restore from backup process is all or nothing. There is no supported way to selectively restore data. Why don't you just import the photos from your camera roll, then sync what you want on the phone back to the phone?
    You should be importing camera roll photos anyway.

  • HT4859 I want to be able to restore items from older backups, NOT a restor to a new device.

    I want to see all my backups and restore specific items.....how?

    Hi,
    I lost my session about two days ago, with a lot of important tabs that just vanished as I upgraded my Firefox.
    Now I don't know if it is possile to restore that session. I didn't have the session-manager extension installed..
    I also found in:
    C:\Documents and Settings\xxx\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxx.default
    some files that I think they might be useful, that are called "sessionstore" (JScript script file).
    Can somebody help me?
    Thanks a lot!

  • Iphone4 would not restore Error -50. I have tried to restore and it restored it to the point that it created after 5.0 was installed. How can I get it an older restore point from my backups and restore it on another computer? The phone has been wiped out.

    Iphone would not restore---- Error -50. I have tried to restore, and it restored it to the new point that it created after 5.0 was installed. How can I get it an older restore point from my backups and restore it on another computer? The phone has been wiped out. I can see earlier backups in my C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup folder. There are four subfolders in this address. I need my contacts, photos, and messages back. I know this is a common error but I can not figure it out. I have ran the other troublshoot items in the error steps for 13 and 14 like apple says. Is there a way to call apple and get a step by step of how to restore from another restore point? Does anybody have a solution????

    It tells you to go to Error 13 and 14 if you receive error (-50).
    Here is what I have tried...
    Error 13 and 14: These errors are typically resolved by performing one or more of the steps listed below:
    Perform USB isolation troubleshooting, including trying a different USB port directly on the computer. See the advanced steps below for USB troubleshooting. I have moved it around to different ports.
    Put a USB 2.0 hub between the device and the computer. Didn't change anything.
    Try a different USB 30-pin dock-connector cable.
    Eliminate third-party security software conflicts. Removed all virus protection and firewall.
    There may be third-party software installed that modifies your default packet size in Windows by inserting one or more TcpWindowSize entries into your registry. Your default packet size being set incorrectly can cause this error. Contact the manufacturer of the software that installed the packet-size modification for assistance. Or, follow this article by Microsoft: How to reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) to reset the packet size back to the default for Windows.Used the Microsoft fix it.
    Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, bypassing any routers, hubs, or switches. You may need to restart your computer and modem to get online. Doesn't matter.
    Try to restore from another known-good computer and network. I do not know how to do this or how to find the correct/full/complete restore point. There should be more information for this.

  • Is it possible to restore just photos from a backup and specify backup?

    Hello,
    A friend of mine said she restored her iPAD but then set it up as a new iPAD and therefore nothing was actually restored and she lost the photos that were on the iPAD before the rebuild.  She would now like to get these photos back somehow if possible.
    She believes that she backed up her iPAD to her computer instead of iCLOUD so I was wondering two things:
    is it possible to restore just the photos from a backup she would have done to her computer - did not backup via iCLOUD
    if she can do the above is it possible to specify which backup to restore from - only ask because she might have done a backup since the rebuild and will want to restore to a backup done before this rebuild
    My initial thought is that the only way she'll be able to get these photos back is to perhaps do a restore from backup - to an older backup if she can specify that - again because newer backup done will no longer include photos.  Then she has her photos and can make a backup of them before rebuilding the iPAD again.  A bit time consuming but if the photos are that important to her it will be worth it.
    Thanks so much!

    is it possible to restore just the photos from a backup she would have done to her computer - did not backup via iCLOUD
    No. A restore from backup is from the entire backup or none. If there is more than one backup available, you can select which backup you want to restore the device from.
    Photos in the Camera Roll, which are included with the backup, can and should be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera.
    There are some 3rd party paid utilities that can extract select data such as photos from an iOS backup on your computer.

  • How do I restore from older backups on iCloud

    How do I restore from older backups on iCloud?

    Go to Settings>General>Reset, tap Erase All Content and Settings (which will erase the phone), then go through the setup screens on the phone and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud backup.  Sign into your iCloud account, agree to the terms and conditions and you will then be asked what backup you want to restore from.  (Apple states that it maintains your three most recent backups.)

  • How do i copy photos from a backup onto a new iMac?

    Long story short, I have had a lot of issues with and older iMac and iPhoto.  The geniuses were not able to get to root cause but I have a new iMac and I want to copy my photos from a backup into iPhoto.  In my backup I go into the backup and into User -> me -> Pictures -> iPhoto Library.  If I double click on iPhoto Library it wants me to hold the option key to create a new library.  What I want to do is copy folders not launch the application.  How do I find the image folders to copy them?

    How was the backup made? What format it the  drive it is n?
    If it was made with TimeMachine then follow the TM directions for restoring
    If it was made with other software then follow the instructions for restoring with that software
    If it is just a direct coli then drag the iPhoto library to the pictures folder of the new system and launch iPhoto (unless the library was made with iPhoto '08 (version 7.x.x) or earlier in which case you first need to download and run the iPhoto library upgrader
    In any case the iPhoto library s a single entity and you can not move it in pieces - you must move it as a single entity
    Or you can start over with a new library and import the photos losing all organization and edits that you did

  • How can I find a photo from the backup file in my pc?

    How can I find a photo from the backup file in my pc?
    I have accidentally erased a photo. It happened after the backup.

    I am not aware you can extract a single photo or a single app's content from the backup, you can either restore the whole backup to your phone or not restore. If you restore your last backup to your phone then any content that is currently on your phone will be replaced with what was on it at the time that the backup was made - so if you do decide to restore, first copy off any purchases to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases, and copy any documents/files that you've udpated on the phone since the backup.

    Sorry, don't know what you are asking. You have an old iPad Mini 3 and a new iPad Mini 3?  How did you set up the new iPad? Did you restore it from a backup of the old iPad? What photos are you not seeing?

    How do I restore photos from iPhone 5 to iPhoto. I erased all my events in iPhoto by mistake so need to sync them phone upstream to lions 10.7....not even apple support could help?? I plug my phone into iPhoto and it sees the camera roll but none of my event so I can move them back into iPhoto

    Your photos are gone.  When you synch your phone with iPhoto, the actual picture file does not synch, rather is is a very small thumbnail file suitable for viewing on the phone, but of such small resolution that it's useless for anything other than viewing on the phone.  In any case, Apple makes no way for you to retrieve these thumbnail file.
    If you deleted photos from iPhoto, your only hope is if you have Time Machine or another backup that might have had those photos.  Are they perhaps still in the "Trash" within the iPhoto app?

  • Help Restoring iPhone from iTunes Backup

    My daughter was having problems with her iPhone 5. It was just acting strange, locking up and being weird. So I backed it up to iTunes and did a complete reset.
    When I tried to restore from the backup, nothing. The restore seems to run fine for about 3-4 minutes, then the restore progress window just closes and the phone is disconnected from my iMac. No error messages are displayed anywhere - neither on the phone nor in iTunes.
    I have tried this with 2 different OEM Apple cables, in 2 different USB ports, and even ensured that I had the latest iTunes (11.04, I did)... rebooted the iMac... tried the restore again.
    The next step was to put the phone in DFU mode and do a new restore. Same results.
    Anyone with any idea what is wrong? I would expect some sort of error message in the very least, but I’m getting nothing.
    nothing works. She has lost photos, text messages, contacts (no iCloud backup) and game progress. And I am in deep doo-doo with my daughter.
    Anyone with any idea what is wrong? I would expect some sort of error message in the very least, but I’m getting nothing.

    If you have a backup on iCloud, wipe your device and when you activate it you will have the opportunity to restore again from that backup.
    better yet, if you have a backup in iTunes it will go a LOT faster to restore from there.
    Verizon cxl'd the iCloud restore because it can take hours and they certainly don't want you to wait around in their store.

  • Is it possible to restore DB from Obsolete backup?

    Hi,
    Is it possible to restore DB from Obsolete backup? If yes. How?
    Thanks
    Rajesh

    Catalog your backup again to restore it. Please read the below paragraph.
    Cataloging Older Files in the Recovery Catalog
    If you have datafile copies, backup pieces or archive logs on disk, you can catalog them in the recovery catalog using the CATALOG command. When using a recovery catalog, cataloging older backups that have aged out of the control file lets RMAN use the older backups during restore operations. For example:
    RMAN> CATALOG DATAFILECOPY '/disk1/old_datafiles/01_01_2003/users01.dbf';
    RMAN> CATALOG ARCHIVELOG '/disk1/arch_logs/archive1_731.dbf',
    '/disk1/arch_logs/archive1_732.dbf';
    RMAN> CATALOG BACKUPPIECE '/disk1/backups/backup_820.bkp';
    You can also catalog multiple backup files in a directory at once, using the CATALOG START WITH command, as shown in this example:
    RMAN> CATALOG START WITH '/disk1/backups/';
    RMAN lists the files to be added to the RMAN repository and prompts for confirmation before adding the backups.
    Be careful when creating your prefix for CATALOG START WITH. RMAN scans all paths for all files on disk which begin with your specified prefix. The wrong prefix may include more files than you intend. For example, a group of directories /disk1/backups , /disk1/backups-year2003, /disk1/backupsets, and /disk1/backupsets/test and so on, all contain backup files. The command
    RMAN> CATALOG START WITH '/disk1/backups';
    catalogs all files in all of these directories, because /disk1/backups is a prefix for the paths for all of these directories. In order to catalog only backups in the /disk1/backups directory, the correct command would be:
    RMAN> CATALOG START WITH '/disk1/backups/';

    You cannot.
    Why are you opposed to paying for some software to help do what you want?
    You can restore the backup to your iPhone then sync the photos to your computer.
