Restore Preview Button in Acrobat 9

Using Acrobat 9 on Mac OS 10.6.8.
     Previously when I opened a file in Acrobat and chose Add or Edit Fields it opened in the edit mode and at the top I had a button "Preview" to switch between Preview and Edit mode.
     Now that Preview button has been replaced with a question mark (?).
     So in order to see the preview I have to close form editing.
     Does anyone know how to restore that Preview button?
     Any help would be appreciated.

I don't use the distribution feature. Is it in Designer? You may have to ask in the LiveCycle forum (the one for Designer).

Can you guys please stop ruining ACR????!! First you ruined the crop tool, now it's the preview button. Used to be you could just toggle the preview with a button on the top left that showed you the WHOLE image, before and after. Now it's some useless split view pane in the lower right that only gives you the partial image preview.
As was the case with the crop tool, you're supposed to ADD functionality, not remove it completely.
More prosumer BS, knock it off already and PLEASE, this time, RESTORE THE FUNCTIONALITY. Don't bother giving us workarounds for months on end in a discussion forum and end up not doing a thing to fix the problem.
And no, I don't want to downgrade to a lesser, older version of your product. Kind of defeats the purpose, no?

Visual Studio 2008 Crashes when I click on the [Main Report Preview] button

I started with Crystal Reports Basic that is bundled with Visual Studio, and then downloaded and installed the free trial of Crystal Reports Developer 2008, and the Visual Studio Integration Manager, the issue has not been affected.
After adding a crystal report to the project and using the wizard to set it up, and adding a Crystal Reports Viewer to a form I encountered these two (perhaps related) problems.
1)      When I click on the [Main Report Preview] button at the bottom of the report editor for Visual Studio crashes without any error message and needs to be restarted.
2)      When I set the viewer Report Source property to the report via the drop down the following error occurs:
a.       u201CUnable to find the report in the manifest resources. Please build the project and try again.u201D
b.      Building the project has no affect and the same error reoccurs repeatedly.

The original version of CR 2008 did not work with .NET 2008. If your version is 12.0.0.549, you need to apply SP0:

Restoring Preview from Time Machine

Preview has become unusable for me over the last week. Preview froze when trying to open a pdf and I forced it to quit. Now, every time I open preview it uses all available RAM and freezes.
I've tried shift clicking to open preview "fresh", but this didn't solve the problem. I've tried restoring preview from a previous time machine backup before the problem started, but this didn't help either. I'm guessing that preview settings (like which documents to open at start up) are stored outside of the preview.app container.
Where are the system files for preview stored outside of the preview.app container? I'm hoping I can restore these files from a previous time machine backup. Alternatively, any other method of restoring preview would be much appreciated.

For anyone else that has this problem the folder to delete is Library > Containers > com.apple.Preview

Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type of copy paste the following:
/Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Click Go. If you see this file: AdobePDFViewer.plugin
Drag it to the Trash, empty the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari.

Problem using the e-mail button in Acrobat Pro 7.1.0 with Outlook 2013

I just switched my e-mail application from Mozilla Thunderbird to Outlook 2013.
I have always been able to click the e-mail button in Acrobat 7.1.0 to open a blank e-mail message with the PDF file attached.
I keep getting an error now that I have Outlook 2013.
It says "You need to create a Microsoft Outlook profile. In Microsoft Windows, go to the Control Panel and open Mail. Click Show Profiles, and then click Add"
Then, when I click on the OK button it says "Acrobat is unable to log in to your email application. Please check your account settings and try again."
I have checked and I have one profile in Control Panel called Outlook. Outlook is set as my default e-mail program.
I tried using a 3rd party PDF reader (Foxit Reader) and the e-mail button works as expected (opens a new message with the PDF attached).
I am running Windows 7 Professional, 64-bit with Outlook 2013 32-bit (this was what was recommended by Microsoft on the Office download site).
I would appreciate help anyone can provide to fix this problem.

It may be a similar issue, but not the same issue. This is not the Reader forum, but if you are worried about the compatibility it is a simple matter to upgrade your Reader to AR XI. The original post had to do with a cost product, not the free Reader.
For AA7, the PDF Maker of AA7 is not compatible with Outlook 2013 as suggested. You should still be able to open most PDFs, but to create a PDF from Outlook you will have to print to the Adobe PDF printer or upgrade to AA XI.

Lack of a print preview button on the toolbar

Like several users, I miss the availability of a Print Preview button on the toolbar. The reason: Many, many, many web sites configure their web page outputs so that they ignore the size and limitations of the user's printer. For instance, a web page will ignore the page size defined by the user and will just send out data without any regard to what the user can and will be able to print. This results in print lines that are truncated; lines that are wrapped for one word or so; or other types of output that are, at best, difficult to read and interpret. I have tried to load several add-ons which include a Print Preview button, but receive a message that because I have the most up-to-date version of Firefox (5.0.1), I CANNOT USE THEM. HELP!!!!!
Second issue: Size of the icons on the toolbars. I understand that this size is chosen to be the best for the AVERAGE user. But I find that I dislike having to place my nose on the screen in order to discern what icon I'm hovering over (Yes I'm an older individual, wear glasses and am somewhat near-sighted). It would be beneficial if the choice of toolbar icon size was larger than the default as well as the only current choice of smaller than the default.

Is there not a 'Print Preview' and 'Print' command from the '''File''' menu?
You can add an icon for Print commands by right clicking on one of the menu bars, select customize then drag and drop the icon where you want it.

I know there will probably be a simple fix for this. Just about all the options in the file menu etc. are grayed out. The usual minimise, restore, close buttons diplayed in microsoft windows applications are not displaying. Would anyone be able to help me find out how to access these please?

I'm doing the exact same thing. Iphone 2g won't connect to the itunes store. I get an error message saying the network connection timed out, but all diagnostics are OK. I've turned off antivirus, firewall, check ie settings, uninstalled/reinstalled itunes... nothing has worked. Have you had any luck? And if so, what did you do?

Using the preview button in camera raw

Im learning to use camera raw via an online tutorial.
The tutorial explains that the preview button can be toggled on and off to show before and after of changes made in each adjustment panel, and then by going to the presets or snapshots panel I can toggle the preview button to show before and after of all adjustments made to the image.
However, while this is working for adjustments in the right hand panels - e.g. basic/detail/grayscale etc, when i make an adjustment in the top left and panels e.g. adjustment brush/gradient filter etc and return to to the presets panel and switch the preview P key on and off, these adjustments remain. I would like to be able to preview before and after all changes made to the image - which is what the tutorial is telling me should happen.
Any suggestions please?!

Add Button in Acrobat 9 Pro to Livecycle Document.

I have a problem that I am beating my head up against. In my company we have some pdf documents that have been created using LiveCycle for our "go green paperless movement" but we have hit a snag. We have some "virtual printers" in use with our document management software that work just as normal networked printers but instead capture an image of the document being printed and run OCR on our documents for record keeping. Each pdf document has its own virtual printer to recognize appropriate OCR templates to use. Therefor we have many virutal pritners for our many documents. We love our LiveCycle documents but, when attempting to use javascript to print to a particular network printer we have found our complication. We do not want to map the printers using windows or train our employees on adding network printers to their profile as there are so many and each document is assigned to a virtual OCR printer, we want the document to have an embedded button that automatically prints to it's assigned virtual printer.
If I open a document and edit it with Acrobat 9 Pro, I can simply place a button field and add this java code:

and the system prints to the network printer perfectly. Yet if I use that same javascript in LiveCycle we get nothing. Further reading I found some details specifying that I cannot use this same scripting to print to the network printer using LiveCycle and such am at a loss.
I have tried open the form in Acrobat 9 Pro to edit it and just add the button using Acrobat Pro, but each time I edit the document it opens LiveCycle as the designer.
I was not sure which forum to use as this problem has been found between working with both programs. Can someone help me to either modify the code for LiveCycle, or to at least find a way to open the document in Acrobat 9 Pro to just add the print button to the LiveCycle form. Any and all assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I can't open the Form Tools though is what I'm saying. When I open the document in Acrobat 9 Pro I have no form tools.
I have to go to [Forms] -> [Edit Forms in Designer] in order to open the form tools.
Only when I select to open in designer I do not get the Acrobat Pro Designer, it automatically opens the document in LiveCycle and I have no option or ability to change the document designer to Acrobat Pro.
Is there some way I can "Force" the docement to open in Acrobat 9 Pro designer JUST so I can add the print button?

Not able to expand tool button in Acrobat 9.0

I have implemented a plugin which contain two Tool buttons using Acrobat SDK 7.0.
I created a "Flyout" using function AVToolBarNewFlyout(). I am adding those two tool buttons into this Flyout using function
AVToolBarAddButton() and at last I am doing AVToolButtonSetFlyout().
When I load this Plugin into Acrobat version 7 and 8 the flyout is working fine (where I can expand tool button) with or without opening any document in Acrobat window.
The problem is when I load the same Plugin into Acrobat version 9 the Flyout is working fine (where I can expand tool button) only when the document is opened in Acrobat window.
I am not able to expand tool button if active document is not present.
Please help me..

With the above Source code I am creating a Plugin.When I added this Plugin into Acrobat 7 and 8 I am able to expand the ToolButton( i.e flyout ) with or without active document.
But when I load the same Plugin into Acrobat 9 I am able to expand Toolbutton( i.e Flyout ) only when the active document is Present.If active document is not present in Acrobat window I am not able to expand the Tool Button( i.e Flyout ).

I use Firefox 6.0.1 on Windows 7.
I installed '''Free Desktop Clock 2.37''' from Drive Software, and then Firefox was hi-jacked, though I carefully chose the custom installaion.
Edit: Free Desktop Clock itself does not hi-jack Firefox. It's another program (name forgotten) bundled with Free Desktop Clock that did it, adding a toolbar, changing the homepage, changing the default search engine, etc. Actually, those forced alterations can be changed back easily, such as a resetting of the "keyword.url" pref. So, "hi-jack" may be a description that's too strong.
Anyway, I have managed to clean it up -- unsolicited toolbar, forced homepage, forced default search engine, etc.
But there is still one problem.
In the dialogue window of '''Manage Search Engine List''', which appears when you click the drop arrow on the left of the Search Bar and then click Manage Search Engines, the '''Restore Defaults''' button is disabled (grayed out).
How can that button be re-enabled?

Is Free Desktop Clock still listed? If not this may be because the listed search engines are the defaults, so there may be nothing to restore. If you manually added other search engines, you may have to reinstall those separately. How do i Restore Preview as my default viewer when using Safari,seems adobe has hi jacked Safari,if i uninstall adobe safari will not open any pdf files.

Preview still works fine to view existing downloaded files.

What kind of files? PDFs? or Others as well?
If you want Preview to open all PDFs, then find a PDF on your HD.
Highlight it, and then press the Apple/Comand key along with th letter " i " key.
When the window comes up, look down to the "Open with" line, and change it from Adobe to Preview.
Then look slightly below, and select "Change All."
Now, all PDFs should open with Preview.

Where's my Page Thumbnails button? Acrobat 8 Std

A few weeks ago I was able to click on the Page Thumbnails button in Acrobat 8 Std, some how it is no longer visible so can't use page thumbnails option. How can I fix this problem?

Right-click the left panel and select Reset Toolbars (or something similar
to that).
