Restore previous purchases

Before I synced my phone with iOS5, itunes said that my phone was being backed up. However, when iOS5 was done downloading, all my previous purchases were gone. Only my contacts and pictures were kept, how do I get all the music and videos back?

You can download previously purchased apps and music using iTunes in the cloud.
On your computer you would go to the iTunes Store, then Purchased and from there you can download them again free of charge.
On your iOS device just go to the iTunes store, and then Purchased for music and the App Store>Updates>Purchased for apps.

Can anyone tell me how to find and restore previously purchased OS updates to my iMac?

Please go to the Apple (upper left corner) and click on About this Mac. In the resulting window, click on the numbers underneath until they display the OS version.
Snow Leopard, Lion, and Mountain Lion are all OS X - they are 10.6, 10.7, and 10.8 respectively. After you get the OS version, click until you get the "Build" number and post that as well.
If your Mac is from 2010, it most likely came with Snow Leopard. If you purchased Lion, then you should be able to see it under your Purchases in the App Store (not iTunes). But, first, we need to figure out what was installed on your machine after the hard drive replacement.
Not sure about iPhoto at this point - may have to do with whaever OS version is installed. Check in Applications folder in column view and post back which version of iPhoto you have installed.

  • How do I restore previously purchased version of OS?

Inadvertentently restored wrong version of OS from Time Capsule (as a fix to file damage). Now cannot access previously purchased apps on iMac. Need to rstore current OS and apps compatible with Lion Suggestions?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Open the Mac App Store, log in with your Apple ID, go to Purchases and download OS X Lion. When the download finishes, the OS X Lion installer will appear, so follow the steps.
After upgrading, you will be able to install the applications compatible with OS X Lion

  • Cant restore previous purchase of OS X Mountain Lion

I had to completely wipe my hard drive today due to my MacBook Pro going to the gray loading screen after a standard restart. This is the second time in a week this has happened to me. I have no idea why or what is causing it. The first time I went to an Apple store and the genius bar was extremely helpful. Although I lost some things due to not having a proper backup because of lack of an external hard drive. This time I decided to fix it myself and I tried to repair the disk but there were way to many problems and it wouldn't repair. The only way I could get my computer to turn on was to erase my hard drive, so that is what I did. After I did that it gave me the only option to download OS X Lion and so I went ahead and did that. Now that my computer is back on and running, thankfully, I want to put OS X Mountain Lion back on my computer. But for some reason the app store is not recognizing the fact that I have already purchased OS X Mountain Lion so the only option it gives me is the $19.99 option. I really don't want to have to buy it again and don't feel like I should have to since I already bought it once. So my question to all this is there any way for me to restore my purchase and download OS X Mountain Lion again but not have to pay again. If anybody can help I would really appreciate it. Also if anybody has any idea why my MacBook Pro is messing up like that twice in only one week? It is extremely frustrating for me. I feel like I seriously got a bad MacBook with all the ridiculous problems I've had in not even two years. Thanks a lot.

Possibly the hard drive is bad. While rare, they sometimes do fail right out of the box.
After erasing and reinstalling, did you add back any third-party software. If so, what software and versions?

  • TS1702 Unable to restore previously purchased app edits (Pixlromatic App)

I restored my iphone and synced my apps from Itunes but one of my apps (Pixlromatic) will not allow me to restore the purchased edits. Will I have to purchase them again?

Double-clicking the home button opens the taskbar at the bottom of the screen which shows active and 'recently used' apps - you can't move them from there, you can only tap on them to switch into them, or with them shaking you can tap the '-' on their top corner in order to close them and remove them from the taskbar.
The app itself will be one of your homescreens above the taskbar - you've checked all of them and your app folders ? If you can't find it then how many homescreens have you got on the iPad ? There is a limit of 11 after which you can only access apps via the spotlight search screen (swipe your first homescreen to the right) and potentially via the taksbar (if they've been recently used). You should also be able to locate downloaded apps by connecting the iPad to your computer and selecting it on the left-hand sidebar of your computer's iTunes (on iTunes 11 you can enable the taskbar via option-command-S on a Mac, control-S on a PC), and then on the right-hand side on the Apps tab double-click the app in the listbox of apps - that should then you show which screen/folder that the app is on via the screen mock-ups on that tab.

  • HT201272 How do you restore previously purchased apps in version ios 4.3.1?

I restored the iPad from backup via iTunes and got my bookmarks back but not my apps
I learned that as of 4.3.4 you can just go to the purchased button in the app store. But how to do this in 4.3.1?
    Please help

Thank you, but that does not work in 4.3.1
    Any other suggestions?
Of course it does not work with 4.3.1.
I showed you wher it says " iOS 4.3.3 or later,"
    Do you not see that?
4.3.1 is NOT 4.3.3 or later

  • HT201272 Can't restore previous purchase from old iPhone to new iPhone. It says all purchases are downloaded when it's not. No download icon on the screen, can't re-download as it says "purchased". Help pls!

I've never really had problems on syncing one device to another. However, this time time I can't seem to restore it to the 5s. When I check iTunes it says that all purchases has been downloaded, but of course it's not. When I try to find it so maybe I can re-download it, it reflects as purchased so I can't download it anymore. Help pls...

And you are looking in the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app on them ? On that tab you've selected Music at the top of it, then 'Not on this iPad' and 'all songs' ?
Is that what you are seeing in the Purchased tab, or is there not a Music button at the top of it or are you not seeing anything listed there ?

  • HT201272 I had to download and pay for the upgraded version of Song Pop TWICE !! I don't like having to do that... I could not find anywhere on the phone where it gives you the option to restore previous purchase...

I would like to get a credit to my account for the 1.99 I have had to spend twice to purchase the Song Pop version that is upgraded. I am sure you can check my account and see that I have purchased it twice.

We are all itunes users just like you.  no one here can check your account.
Here is how you redownload past purchases:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

I have tried several times to download 12 but once I download it, I cant get it to install and run.
Can you elaborate? We can point you to the download but sounds like you've already done that.
What happens when you try to run the installer?

  • Can iCloud restore a purchased app if it's no longer in the store? (Which makes it pretty unreliable / useless as a true backup)

The info I've found on iCloud backup of apps, says only the "purchase history" is backed up (not purchased apps themselves).
Previously purchased apps aren't available for restore if the store no longer lists the app.   This makes iCloud pretty useless (IMHO)
as a "backup", since at any time you can lose your "backup", and become totally vulnerable to loss, if the app is discontinued in the store
(no longer available).   This means that (in order to have a reliable backup) I must BACKUP BY HAND EVERY SINGLE APP (TO ITUNES)!
This makes iCloud "backup" pretty meaningless (except maybe as a slight convenience for apps that are still available - admittedly most,
but your favorite app may "disappear from the store" at any time).
Am I correct in my understanding?  Is backing up to my iTunes app library the only reliable alternative?
NOTE TO APPLE:  why can't you archive apps that have EVER been listed on the store, so app purchases can
be restored easily, even when the store no longer carries them?
    Thanks!

Thanks for the clarification.  I sort of understood how to do that.  My complaint is that HAVING to do that makes iCloud pretty meaningless.  Even worse is the possibility that users will RELY ON ICLOUD, and perhaps find someday that they can't get an app restored from iCloud because it's no longer in the store.
If you work for Apple, could you please pass along my suggestion to enable iCloud to restore previous purchases even when they are no longer available on the store -- this doesn't seem that difficult, and it would make the iCloud app backup a lot more meaningful (IMHO).  Thanks!

  • Unable to update apps on iPad mini. I have even restored the iPad and now I can't download any of my previously purchased apps.

Can someone help me. I am using an iPad mini with iOS 7.0.4 with wifi connection. Have had no problems until recently when I was unable to update apps and then noticed that some apps would open but no data would be available in apps like intelicast and Pinterest. I have restored the iPad and now I am unable to download any of my previously purchased apps.

    1. Make sure iPad is using the latest software
    2. Settings>General>Date and Time>Set Automatically>On
    3. Make sure Time Zone is correct
    4. Reset iPad. Hold the Sleep and Home button down until you see the Apple Logo.

  • Why can't i see my movies in "Previous Purchases"  I bought the movie 6 months ago and just recently watched it- i had to restore my ipod and my computer becasue the both broke. now i can't see any movies, only apps, songs, books, and tv shows.

OK i will explain my whol situation.
My computers hard drive broke, so i had to get a new one.
My itunes from the hard drive is gone now.
MY ipod was disable to the point where you must plug it into the same itunes on the same computer it was last synced on.
i had to restore my ipod.
    i re downloaded itunes.
    i got into my account.
i re downloaded all songs, apps, books, tv shows, and pod casts.
IT WON"T SHOW ME MY MOVIES.
i looked in my purchase history so i know i bought it.
i went back to "Previous Purchases"
it still doesn't give me a category for movies.
i really need to get that movie back because it was 9.99 and i refuse to let my money go to waste!
    Please Help!

Films can currently only be downloaded once from the store, which I think is a requirement from the film distributors, so they won't show in the Purchased section for re-downloading. Have you not got a backup of it on, for example, an external drive or CD/DVD ?

  • Restoring applications previously purchased on another country's AppStore

    Hi,
Just purchased another iOS device (iPad mini), I am wondering why apps previously purchased on AppStore are not available for download
Please note I purchased them from France's AppStore, but now, my iCloud account is setup for the US (since I moved and changed my credit card)
    Thanks in advance

Removed payment details and tried to re-buy Dictionnaire Larousse, following the security checks, I received a message telling me "this update is free because you own a previous version of this item"
However, it was unsuccessful with all EA apps

  • Previous purchases and outstanding credit restoral?

During the IOS5 and iTunes 10.5 upgrades, I was forced to create a new iTunes ID because my old one was only my nickname.  How do I reassociate all my previous purchases (3  years worth!) with my new ID?  Not to mention the ~$21.00 credit I had! Each time I tried to update my old ID, I was told that I couldn't because it had to be in the form of an email address!

Went down to the local Apple store and resolved my issues.  I was told that they had never had anyone come in yet with the nickname issue before.
    The fix:
They had me go to the iforgot.apple.com page (a very familiar page by this point).  Under the box where you would enter your Apple ID, there is a link "Forgot Your Apple ID?".  They had me click on it.
On the next screen, they had me enter my first name, last name and the email address that I thought was associated with my iTunes account.  I then clicked on 'Next'
On the next screen, I opted for the 'Anser Security Questions Authentication Method.
Answering the required questions allowed me to then enter my email address as my Apple ID and the new password that I had chosen.
After doing so, everything was as it should be!  I was able to update my apps that needed updating...AND... my $21.34 credit was back!
