Restore/Recovery Help

The other night my iPod just would not turn on although it had been charging all day. When I connect it to my computer the screen flashes white then goes back to black. On iTunes it says that it detects an iPod in recovery mode and that I need to restore it. When I try to restore it I get nothing. Once the progress bar gets to "Restoring iPod firmware" it just stays that way. I had it going for an entire day and that was all it did. It wont finish and I cannot get my iPod to turn on! Ive tried to press the home and power key but the screen stays black, I have tried downloading iBricker... What do I do?!?!?!?! Please help me I have been doing this since Wendesday and I am very frustrated!!!!

    Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

    If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

    Hard Drive Failure on HP DV 6000 Pavilion laptop - Need Data Recovery Help
    HP Pavilion DV 6108 NR, RG365UA, purchased in late 2006 at Best Buy, with Windows XP, upgraded to Service Pack 3. It has a Fujitsu hard disk, 60 gigabyte, partitioned into C: and a Recovery D:.
    Windows tries to boot up, but goes to blue screen with the message: "Unmountable Boot Volume" for one second, then just keeps recycling until I force a shutdown.
    BIOS Phoenix, hard drive test result: " #1-08 Fail "
    I ran a disk analysis/recovery program on the Cdrive and it seemed to show the directory structure intact, and it was able to recover some files. I was using the free one from Seagate (which only recovers small files). The second pass didn't run so well, and during the third run the program said I should not proceed further, and I should contact a professional disk recovery company.
    However, the D drive seems to be intact, so, I wonder if the disk is corrupted or just some aspect of the logical C drive is bad.
    How can I get the D: to run the recovery software on it? The recovery disks, made by Best Buy, only proceed to the R / F / Q option screen, and when I press R, I get a blue screen every time.
    Tapping the F10 key during startup gets me nowhere. Ditto the F11 key.
    I dont care about the hard disk; it is the data (files, docs, images, etc)  that I want.
    I contacted HP to order recovery disks but they are no longer available for my computer.
    Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    Update...
    I found a website that offers the following:
    http://www.computersurgeons.com/p-13442-recovery-kit-435422-001-for-hp-model-number-dv6108nr.aspx
    Recovery Kit 435422-001 For HP Model Number dv6108nr
    Price: $27.00
    Recovery Kit Set (An Entire Image of the Computer hard drive when the computer was new)
    But I wonder how useful it would be. Early XP , no doubt. And if my hard disk problem is a mechanical fault, would any recovery disk even work? The disks made by Best Buy when I bought mine new in 2006 don't do anything more than go to the R /F/ Q screen and then goes to a blue screen when I press R (to recover the OS and apps and data files). And, as I wrote, it is the data that I want, not the disk drive.

    Forgot password and wanted to do a recovery. I followed the recommended steps but download of restore/recovery stops before completion,saying it is password protected.

    Recovery Mode
    1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
    2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
    3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
    Note: Data will be lost. You may have to repeat the above many times.

  • Database restore/recovery questions...

    HI I am somewhat new to the recovery process and I have just installed a new 2 node cluster on linux itanium and I have created a testdb in ASM. I have backup up the new testdb using rman with a full online backup and including control file. We are not using a recovery catalog and all of the rman backup data is only stored in the control file.
    I was planning to use the drop database command to drop the datafiles and then resore the database so that I can test my restore/recovery procedure.
    If i use the drop database command it will reove the control file and parameter file so I was wondering how I can get my database back if that is the case because all of the backup data is stored in the control file?
    Can someone steer me in the right direction here? How can I recover if the control file is gone?

    controlfile backup is crucial to be backed up for this scenario,if yours alls backup stuff exist while controlfile backup (repositry of yours database files as well backup stuff) gone then recovery would be more tricky and complex.

  • Restore recovery area

    Hi,
    In 10g, there is a command "backup recovery area" to backup files in recovery area.
    But I could not find the corresponding restore command to restore the recovery area files.
    Anyone how can I restore the recovery area files from tape to disk?
    Thanks
    Vincent Pek

    Hi,
    Pending how you've run your backups, Oracle should implicitly know where the backups are located and restore them as appropriate (providing you integrate RMAN with your media management software). If backups were done to disk using standard channels, that's where the backuppieces would be read from for restore / recovery purposes.
    Alternatively, if the FRA (for example) has been backed up from disk to tape (allocating the necessary SBT channels) using the correct MML API (e.g. Netbackup, Networker or Omniback), RMAN will read from the tape and restore as appropriate.
    RMAN for 8i / 9i would typically back up either straight to tape OR disk explicitly as per the channel allocation (i.e. either to disk or SBT_TAPE). 10G+ introduced the FRA, which would be used as a "staging area" for backups before these are moved to tape, also via the RMAN process.
    See RMAN documentation:
    Oracle Documentation / Book / Backup and Recovery Advanced Users Guide / Advanced Topics

  • Restore & recovery test

    I have the full offline backup of my development system now I want to perform a restore & recovery test as our golive is very nearer . Can anybody shed the light to perform it from SQL management studio with steps.

    You can script it like this:
    RESTORE DATABASE QAS
    FROM Tape0, Tape1, Tape2
    WITH NORECOVERY,
    FILE = 4,
         MOVE 'PRDDATA1' TO 'H:\DATA1\QASDATA1.MDF',
         MOVE 'PRDDATA2' TO 'H:\DATA2\QASDATA2.NDF',
         MOVE 'PRDDATA3' TO 'H:\DATA3\QASDATA3.NDF',
         MOVE 'PRDDATA4' TO 'H:\DATA4\QASDATA4.NDF'
    RESTORE LOG TS2 FROM DISK = 'Q:\FROM_PRD\PRD_tlog_200801251240.TRN' WITH NORECOVERY;
    RESTORE LOG TS2 FROM DISK = 'Q:\FROM_PRD\PRD_tlog_200801251410.TRN' WITH NORECOVERY;
    RESTORE LOG TS2 FROM DISK = 'Q:\FROM_PRD\PRD_tlog_200801251425.TRN' WITH NORECOVERY;
    RESTORE LOG TS2 FROM DISK = 'Q:\FROM_PRD\PRD_tlog_200801251440.TRN' WITH NORECOVERY;
    RESTORE LOG TS2 FROM DISK = 'Q:\FROM_PRD\PRD_tlog_200801251455.TRN' WITH NORECOVERY;
    RESTORE LOG TS2 FROM DISK = 'Q:\FROM_PRD\PRD_tlog_200801251510.TRN' WITH NORECOVERY;
    RESTORE LOG TS2 FROM DISK = 'Q:\FROM_PRD\PRD_tlog_200801251525.TRN' WITH RECOVERY;
    "Tape0, Tape1, Tape2" is the device that the backup is being restored from. In this case, three tape drives in parallel.
    The MOVE statements tell SQL Server where the original DB files from PRD will now be located on the QAS server.
    The Q:\ drive here is a location that contains the transaction logs copied over from the PRD system.
    Always make sure you use the NORECOVERY option in every step before you are finished applying logs, and use the RECOVERY option with the last log you want to apply. Once you use the RECOVERY option, no more logs can be applied and a new CHECKPOINT is set in the DB, so make sure you get it right the first time.

  • UNINTENDED "Restoration & Recovery" to XP not Vista

    After 18 months hard use of my ThinkPad 7668-CTO I decided it was time to 'start over.'
    So despite this kind of thing making me nervous, and the hours wasted copying the important stuff,
    I embarked on a full restore & recovery to my original factory-set Vista Business by using the 7 CDs provided.
    It went fine - neither a glitch, nor complication, nor any heart-stopping moments.
    Until the process finished, that is,  when I saw my ThinkPad now sported XP,  not the original, factory-set Vista Business.
    I'd like to know why Lenovo
    1. Included only CDs to restore XP on my ThinkPad but not the original, factory-set Vista Business?
    2. Did not label the CDs to show clearly they would install XP
    I want Vista Business back.
    What can I do?
    Message Edited by aldo on 06-16-2009 02:00 PM

    Many thanks for the advice guys,  it's illuminating but leaves me annoyed and unhappy.
    I ordered a ThinkPad X61s  factory loaded with Vista Business.
    It was delivered together with one Rescue & Recovery CD, and six Product Recovery CDs.
    The Product was Vista Business.
    There was nothing stating the CDs would "downgrade" the Product to XP.
    Why would I think to burn an additional set of recovery discs since Lenovo appeared to supply them?
    It defies logic that Lenovo should consider those who order Vista but later wish to downgrade to XP,  yet does not make clear the recovery discs are for that downgrade and not for Product Recovery which is what it says on the tin labels!
    The problem was caused by the inclusion and mislabelling of the CDs as recovery discs  -  if they had not been supplied,  or been clearly labelled as the downgrade to XP, then I would have burned the correct ones.
    At least some colleagues with HP notebooks are supplied with TWO sets of recovery CDs, one for Vista, the other for XP.

    I have forgotten my password of itunes, i have taken backup of contacts but is unable to restore . pls help i have my important data in back up.

    Encrypted backup?
    Read here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5162
    If the backup you're trying to restore from is encrypted, you will not be able to use that backup if you can't remember the encrypted backup passcode.
    If on a Mac, & you elected to save the passcode to your Keychain, you can recover the passcode from your Keychain. Otherwise, your backup data is unrecoverable.
    While you can continue to sync/backup, if you can't remember it & want to remove it, you'll have to delete your existing backups, & restore your phone as a new device.
    You delete your existing backups here: iTunes>Preferences>Devices.

    You will find that bookmarking a page (clicking the star next to the address, or going into ''Bookmarks > Bookmark this page'' is precisely what you need to remember pages. It is a very widespread function in web browsers, and it is very ''very'' helpful in many situations, including remembering the location of pages you want to see later, providing easy access to pages you use frequently and other stuff too.
    If you want to know about session restore, there's an helpful support article [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Session+Restore here] which I believe also has information on version 3.0. However, I do urge you, once again, to update, because older versions (including 3.0) are no longer maintained and have known security vulnerabilities. Besides, you will not loose any functionality at all (unless you are using add-ons that are no longer usable by newer versions, in which case you need to contact the add-ons' authors for support and ask them to update their software), it's free, and very easy to do.
    If you need any further help at all, whatever it is, tips, troubleshooting, walkthroughs, feel free to ask here.

    itunes showing 'backup is corrupt or not compatible with the firmware you restored'.Please help.

    Hi Ckuan,
    Thanks a lot for your advice.
    Deleting the correupted back up means to delete the information of one month since the last back up I made is one month ago.....right?
    This back up I made right before I restored my iphone.  During the restore however my OS was upgraded to 5.1.1. and reading the comments on the internet it seems I am not the only one whom experience this problem.
    Can it be that if I downgrade my OS back to 5.1. the back up will not be considered as corrupted?  If so, how do I downgrade the iphone?
    Thanks in advance.
