Restore, Refresh, reload Win 8.1 after hardrive in multiple similar Thinkpads

This is the deal...
Had a Thinkpad T-61 with partitioned Disk 0 into logical disks C: (System other stuff - no hidden partition), D: (disk images, data back up), E: reload programs and drivers. (WD SATA 320GB, 8 GB new RAM)
System was drowned in unknown "goo" and was essentially DOA - no power, no battery indicators.
Harddrive was swapped into my T-61p, and after doing a system enumeration, harddive proved to be uncorrupted (whew) - at least 12 hrs of config not blown, and data saved.
New T-61 base purchased (virtually identical to old one), LCD screen swapped, and after putting original harddrive, went through new enumeration as , of course, machine now "looked different" and did the Activation dance for both Win 8.1 and Office
2013.
The problem - looking in the registry it looks like I have 3 different "hardware profiles". However, "hardware profiles" with ditched starting with Vista. What I find is the wireless card is now Card #2 (not 3 as mine was
an Intel BGN, not a BG), Wireless devices at now Wi-Fi 3 (not Wi-Fi) as is appears machine thinks there are 3 different hardware profiles, although only one is real. Looking at the Registry, it is clear there are multiple entries, I assume each time
the harddrive was inserted for test purposes, and finally in the repaired machine with new mobo, etc.
Question - can these now "bogus" profiles be deleted or overwritten somehow to make this into a "clean machine". In XP, this would have been easy - get rid of the "obsolete" hardware profiles. In 8.1 can one
do this with a Restore, Refresh or, worst option (and I have done this) Reinstall 8.1 and everything else on the C: partition. (Good thing - this is someone else Thinkpad with Office 2013, and maybe 10 other programs including utils, AV, and all
data backed up; it's not mine, a T-61p used intensively as a development machine for Oracle, SQL-Server, MySQL, etc.)
Fortunately, the Thinkpads seem to be indestructible (T-61), and not like the old company Toshiba's that they had a stack of 15 in various stages of rebuilds/repairs for which I burned a series compatible XP disk image that just required a data reload.

System refresh would reserve user profile, it would be better to make system refresh to remove everything also contains User profile and settings, it equals to reinstall system.
Since your person data already backed up, it would be better to make a system reset to clear these old profiles.

How-To "Refresh a table of data after inserting or deleting"

I'd like to say a word on the how-to article "How to refresh a table of data after inserting or deleting a row using ADF".

I spent a lot of time on it because I needed help in implementing simple CRUD functionality on a table, using JSF-ADF-TopLink technologies.
While the the article does provide correct steps, it is in one important place not specific enough, so the reader may easily get stuck. In section "Refresh the data table", point 1: when you double click on the removeEntity() button, in Structure window, then you do not get the required dialog. You get CommandButton Properties dialog.
You must click on the removeEntity() button in Editor's Design view. But even there you may get the CommandButton Properties dialog, not managed beans dialog.
You may resolve that by going to JSF configuration file, faces-config.xml, and switch to Overview view. This will show you the managed beans that you have.
Then, you may already have a backing bean for the page. You can use that and avoid creating a new managed bean.
I could understand what the operations mean only after very careful reading of "Creating More Complex Pages", section "Overriding Declarative Methods" in JDeveloper Help (or in ADF Developer's Guide PDF document).
In general: I believe that "ADF bindings" need more conceptual explanation, maybe in form of an article. Grammatical form "bindings" may create a false understanding that "bindings" are just references. But they are not -- ADF bindings are active objects that handle traffic between UI components and Data Controls. It seems that "bindings" even communicate among themselves. Maybe it would be more understandable to differentiate strictly between "binding objects" (or "binders"?), binding object definitions and binding object references.
It would be very helpful to have a diagram showing grahically what specific binder objects are created in a small apllication (2-3 pages using 1-2 tables), with whom they communicate and what type of data is passed on.

My second question is, why when you use refresh button in IE (I know is not recommended as You said, but sometimes user do it, so I want prevent situations that I will describe here) so when I press refresh button in IE exactly after removing one row by clicking my button, refreshing by pressing IE button is doing the same --> is deleting next row. How to stop deleting row, when for example user would press IE refresh button after pressing remove button for table. If I change selection in table after deleting row, and press refresh button in IE, instead of deleting row, I got error message: JBO-29000: JBO-35007: and
JBO-35007. So where Im doing wrong. Maybe I should do sth with postback ? Could You help me? Thanks in advance

How can I restore up to the current day after restoring from a disk image??

I do two types of backups... Every night I connect my MB to TM and it backs up changes made throughout the day. On Saturdays I do the same. I bring up time machine and force to backup NOW. I then turn off time machine. I then perform an image backup of the full disk and keep that full weekly image offsite.
Well I upgraded to SL, and once again many of my drivers still don't work with SL particularly a Verizon Broadband card that I was provided drivers for that have a bug. So back to Leopard I go again.
I restored the full image backup using boot from DVD & Disk utility. This worked fast and quickly restored my MBP to exactly the point where I forced the backup to time-machine. I had done some work Sunday morning, and made changes to a bunch of files. I forced a TM backup later that night to ensure to catch these changes. After the failure of the SL load, I restored as I noted from an image which is much faster.
The question is... I am now at the same point of Sat morning. How can I restore to the point where I was Saturday night just before I did a test upgrade to SL if I touched a bunch of stuff. (Some work files, some personal files). So what I really need to restore is the files backed up after my full image from Saturday AM? Any way to do this without knowing the files I updated?
CLearly TM knows what files were changed and backed them up Saturday night before I performed the upgrade??

The easiest, most reliable way is to do a full system restore, as of the Saturday night Time Machine backup. See #14 in the Frequently Asked Questions *User Tip* at the top of this forum.
If for some reason you don't want to do that, you can get a list of the items that were actually backed-up, via +Time Tracker+ or +Backup Loupe.+ See #8 in the FAQ Tip.

L7580 net printer driver disappearing in Win 7-62 after connecting with Remote Desktop Connection

I have an Officejet Pro L7580 connected via ethernet. I've been using the driver released from Jan 2010, and whenever I connect to my Windows 7 Ultimate 64 computer via Remote Desktop Connection, the printer drivers for both the printer and the fax disappear. I have to constantly run the "add a device" window to add the printers back again.
Why do they disappear like that?

OK after updating the Server and clients I am still having this issue :(
and just today after no sound problems for 6 days the sound dropped out on a couple of RDP sessions, yet the sound on the client itself worked fine when tested (minimise the RDP session).
It took the RDP sessions to be restarted to restore the sound within the session.
I have found similar (old) thread regarding this problem:

I am unable to update/restore my iPhone on my MacBook after attempting to downgrade iTunes 10 to iTunes 9.2. I am currently running iTunes 10 on my MacBook right now because it was my only option to get iTunes back on my MacBook. Everything is fine with syncing my device but the only problem I keep encountering is the restoring and updating options. When I restore my device it tells me that It could not be restored at this time. When I update it, iTunes tells me that it cannot complete the current build. I know for a fact I am missing some files that were deleted when I attempted the downgrade. Anybody know what files I am currently missing that is causing this?

With the help of information from user, ptressel, in [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1032154#answer-673322 a post here about the existence of sessionstore.js when version 33 was released], I was able to easily recover my tabs and tab groups as follows:
# close Firefox and, perhaps, allow a few seconds (30s?) for any final closing of files;
# check to see if you have a sessionstore.js file in your profile folder, named like the one I documented in my original post above;
# if it is not timestamped prior to the discovery of your problem, open the sessionstore-backups folder;
# check if the recovery.js file is suitably timestamped and, if not, the recovery.bak.
# At this point, you are likely to find that none of them are prior to your problem occuring. If so, open your backups of this folder and go through steps 2-4 to find a file prior to your problem occuring.
# When you find a file, copy it to the root of your current profile folder and name it, "sessionstore.js"
# Open Firefox. Mine opened up as desired.
This is a Windows solution. Sorry I can't comment on other platforms, but I'd bet that as this is just a file copy and renaming, it is likely the same.
For Windows users, you may find you need to sign out and login as an administrator in order to access the backups. You need not logoff your standard account, but do have Firefox closed as described above.

10g How to Refresh / Reload records in table

I am extremely new to JDeveloper and I am just trying to get my head around a few of the more simple aspects. I have worked through a few tutorials and learnt the basics.
I have only one table involved as what I am trying to achieve is quite simple. I have a browse form (where I can see all records in the table and navigate my way through them), an edit form (where I can edit a record using an edit link associated with the table row) and a find form (where I can type in details to pull matching records). I have linked the find results form to the edit page so that once a record is found the user can edit this record. This bit works fine (surprised the hell out of me) but the problem is that when the edits are made and the confirm button is clicked the screen returns to the browse page (this is correct) but in the browse table there is only the record I just edited, I can't see all the others. I'm pretty sure there must be an easy way to fix this with some kind of refresh/reload data action in between the find/edit and browse page. Please can someone help.

I used the basic find mode for this. Executing the query finds the records that match but when I have finished with the 'finding' and just want to browse all records again, what code do I need and where do I put it?
Thanks you for you help, once I've got my head around this I should be able to fumble my way through the rest. But all the tutorials so far seem so high-level and I am so far away from the code I have no idea how to actually implement anything myself. If you could detail the sets for this I would be able to start to understand the workings of things.

I tried using Time Machine to restore iCal, tried doing disk repairs... nothing changes the outcome. No windows will open in the application.

Is the Wi-Fi button greyed out? Try this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1559
Also, make a backup to iTunes of the device. Then restore it as a new device. If you still have wi-fi greyed out, then contact Apple again, and explain that you believe you have a hardware issue. They may still ask for a $19 deposit, but if it is actually hardware related, then you won't be charged the $19. Only if it is software related do you get charged that $19.

I have exactly the same issue as described above : I installed the update 5.1.1 on my iphone 3GS and since then, I can not turn it on anymore. In Itunes, I get an error 37 when I am doing a restauration and it stops.
This error has nothing to do with firewall : I tried to restore the phone on several computers, including in an Apple reseller and it did not work anywhere.
I spent several hours on phone with the hotline from Apple which arrived to the conclusion that it is a hardware issue, but the phone was working perfectly fine until I installed this update!

Try to restore from another known-good computer and network.
