Restore Satelite A105/S2712

My cd-rom drive is apparently not working and I am trying to run the system restore cd.  Is there anyway to run this without the cd to completely restore the computer back to factory/out of the box settings?  Please help

Hello,
The sound card in your laptop is not actually a card. It is built on the mother board.  It could just be that your drivers have been removed or accidently erased. (Or defective part on the motherboard) If it is only the drivers you need you can try to get the drivers from the Toshiba Support site.  www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/home.jsp?nav=Download . From here you can navigate to the correct laptop you have and find the download for the drivers for the sound.  I hope this helps.

  • Satellite A105 S2712 DVD Drive

I am running xp home, sp3, have a matsu**bleep**a uj-841s dvd drive, driver 5.1.2535.0, I have tried everything I have found in forums to try to get this drive to burn dvd's on dvd-r disc's to no avail, i see that the sonic dla does not support this media, I was wondering if anyone has had success with a different dla or driver to burn dvd's with this media

I've never had any trouble with Nero burned DVDs.  They have an option for burning video DVDs that produces a DVD that works with my Panasonic player.  However, I should say that I don't burn video DVDs very often.  I'm more likely to extract tracks from music DVDs to play on my iPod.  There are too many format converters out there to make a recommendation.  Google would be a good way to do research.  For example, HERE is an article on making DVDs using free software.  Browse around some of the other how-to articles on Maximum PC's website for additional information.

    Help!

    Hi
If you are using Windows XP.
Try to uninstall the d: drive from device manager then restart your PC.
After it restart, open my computer and right click on your D drive-
Look for advanced and look for the option - Enable CD Recording and check it - this should work

  • Kernel-2.6.31.6-1 on Toshiba satelite

For owners of Toshiba satelite: kernel-2.6.31.6-1 does not work on Toshiba satelite A105 S2141. Bad things begin right at booting time after frase Loading ACPI modules.

I have the same problem with my Toshiba Satellite L505D with the latest install release. I get 'a lot' of acpi errors. The only way to get a successful boot is acpi=off or acpi=ht, so luckily it can see both cores. I thought it was because of a buggy DSDT table, but I can't actually boot the computer and copy the DSDT table to recompile it and try to fix the issues; it only loads the DSDT table if acpi is enabled, and I can't boot if acpi is enabled.
I'm basically stuck using Windows 7, which has actually been a really nice OS, since I can't have any sort of power management in Arch. Not being able to have power management means not being able to use Arch, what good is a laptop if the battery wont last.

  • SD Card reader leads to system freezes

I recently had a hard drive failure on my A105-S2712.  I put a fresh install of XP on the new hard drive, did all the Windows Update installs, and installed every driver I could find on the Toshiba website that looked pertinent to my computer.  Things were working very well until I tried transferring 8-12 photos from an SD card to the laptop.  I slid the card into the reader.  The dialog box asking if I wanted to open Picasa, folder to view files, etc. pops up ok.  I make a selection (i.e., folder to view files).  When I open the folder that contains the photos, thumbnails of the photos on the drive appear but the system completely freezes.  The fifth little light on the front of the computer lights up, the mouse no longer moves the pointer, keystrokes have no effect.  One time I let the system try to think it out but when the condition lasted over half an hour I assumed that it will persist indefinitely.  When this happens, I am forced to hold the power button down to reboot the machine and I then pull the card out of the reader.  Any ideas as to what may be the problem?  The reader seems to see the card and understand that there is data on the card, it's just that when it tries to access the data the system totally freezes.  Thank you for any help you can provide.

I'm sure you fooled around uninstalling and reinstalling the driver.

Two things to consider: (1) the order of installing drivers/utilities may matter and (2) you may have a hardware malfunction.
The only way to learn about both is to restore the hard drive to its original factory-new contents using Toshiba's recovery media. You can order replacement media by calling Toshiba Customer Service at 800-457-7777. They will want the computer's serial number and a credit card number.

  • Factory settings

Hi, I have a Toshiba Satellite A105-S2712 and I installed the Toshiba Recovery and Applications DVD (and yes it's the correct version) to put my laptop back to its factory mode. After the process was complete, the laptop restarted, but the screen remained black. I shut it off, turned it back on, and it gave the the error that something happened, so I opened it in safe mode. When safe mode was clicked, all these lines popped up and then nothing happened. I don't know what's wrong. It seems to load linux, and utunbo (or something that has a similar name) and works fine. When I put in a copy of just windows xp, it loads fine (I think this version might be boot-leg), but for whatever reason, it won't read the Toshiba Recovery and Applications DVD. Can someone help me?
Correction: It loads the Toshiba Recovery and Applications DVD, but it does nothing afterwards, just a blank screen when normally upload, and then all lines when loaded in the other modes.

You could try making a disk copy of your Toshiba Recovery & Applications CD and see if the copy will install properly. If this does not work, Toshiba no longer supplies disks for systems made prior to 2006, yours is from 2005.
You could also try these third party recovery media suppliers. But, we have no information on them so use caution.

I have a A205-S4617 Satelite that I bought just over a year ago from Circuit City and I am having alot of problems with it . I think it would be easier and faster just to return it back to the way it was when I first bought it . I want it to be the way it was when it was new . It also seems not to be able to read a DVD oand it will not burn anything to a DVD . But i can use a CD in it just fine . I seems like either its not able to see a DVD and is not configured correctly or its broken . I have never tried to use the DVD until now so either way it was like this when it was new . I have the 2 Recovery and Applications /Drivers Satelite A200/A205 Home Premium disks and have tried to use the the way it says to ( hold down the C key when it boots up ) when i turn it on but this doesnt do anything . It deoesnt seem to see the DVD . And when I put a DVD in the drive it always says please insert a dick into the drive , it doesnt see the DVD . So how do I restore my laptop to the way it was when it was new .    Randall

The DVD 'side' of the CD/DVD drive has probably failed, since you cannot boot from the recovery DVD nor read any DVD at all.
Since the recovery DVD must be run from the internal drive, your only option is to have the drive replaced.

  • Satellite A105-S2716 found in a charity/thrift store needs Restore Discs...

    Hello,
I paid $24 for a Toshiba Satellite A105-S2716 (PSAA0U-01Q002) (Windows XP Home) in a charity/thrift store on Long Island, NY.  I did not get any Recovery Media with it. I want/need to restore this machine back to factory because somebody's entire life is on it.  I was even able to find and call the previous owner...  I wanted to make sure the machine wasn't stolen...  it wasn't stolen, but the lady was unhappy to find out that a machine that she thought had been "disposed of" (i.e. smashed with a really big hammer) wound up in a thrift store.
As of this writing, the machine is not turned on and not in the same room.  Does this machine have the ability to create Restore Media?  Will the "C:\Program Files\TOSHIBA\TOSHIBA Recovery Media Creator\TRMCLcher.exe" trick I read about in another posting, work on this machine?
Thank you very much for your, time, effort and consideration in this matter.
    Regards,
    Uncle Billy

  • My satelite L455-S5975 will not restore using restore discs Help please

I have a L455 that I tied to restore to the out of box state using the internal restore partition.
After starting the process mid way I received a fatal error message and the computer now doesn't reboot past the windows 7 icon before displaying another error message and only allowing me to shut the system back down.
I called the help line and they said it sounded like my hard drive crashed.  I then ordered the restore discs from Acclaim and was told that after installing a new hard drive these discs would get the system back up and running and back to factory out of box status.
I ran the discs and towards the end of using the second recovery disk I received another error.
this was using the new hard drive.
I tried this twice and it didn't take.
I then put the old hard drive back in and started the restore process again.
I received this error mid way through the second disk.
    10-FC12-0241
after selecting the o.k button to shut down I received this error
    F3-F200-0002
again I selected the o.k. button to shut down and it did but still will not start up past the windows 7 logo.
Any idea what the issue is or what the error codes mean so that I can get the computer back up and running.
    Thanks
    Jason

Assuming your install media isnt damaged and your hard drives are good, in order of most problematic to least, you could have an issue with your motherboard, CPU, RAM, or optical drive.
Optical drive: attatch an external optical drive (USB) and try to install from there.
RAM: If you have multiple DIMMs, pull all but one and see if it goes. If it still doesnt work, try the other one.
If you only have one DIMM module then you can either swap it out or run a full memory test using MEMTEST86.
CPU: Obtain a replacement CPU and replace it.
Motherboard: time to buy another computer.

  • DVD drive died - l need to reinstall XP Satellite A105

    Hi everyone,
My wife went on vacation to Hawaii, and while she was gone, her Satellite A105 (no longer under warranty with a dead DVD drive) started malfunctioning to the point where XP where freeze on boot.
I tried everything I could but it wouldn't boot.
So finally I took a USB DVD drive formatted the hard drive with killdisk and tried to use the recovery disc to at least get the unit operational. Problem is the unit will not complete the installation I get the following error:
    Windows cannot find c:/bin/errordialog.exe
I thought it was the disc so I cleaned it, and still the same thing, since I'm a student, I had access to XP pro from the msdn network so I got a copy, and still the same error.
I don't have a large enough USB flash drive, and the laptop doesn't have a floppy so I'm stuck with no way to restore the OS... needless to say the wife is not pleased with me!
I managed to get Linux installed without problem, but my wife wants her laptop back to xp and will probably hate me until I can fix what I have done. PLEASE help!
    TIA

    >feilks, your grammar and sarcasm are as bad as the design of this laptop
:) you are right about my grammar but notebook design is not so bad.
Maybe my grammar is bad but you understood me very well. Thats make me happy.
    So let be serious now.
You have notebook with defective optical disc drive.
You don't have floppy disc drive.
If you want to start OS installation from second partition you must somehow start notebook in DOS mode.
The question is how to do this. Usually you can do this using start disc (FDD) or you can create bootable start CD. The funny thing is: you cannot use any of them.
The whole time you are writing about USB. Ok I can understand what you want. Probably you want to use external USB connected CD/DVD drive. Right?
Idea is not bad but this drive will not be recognized for boot-up. Why? You must load DOS driver for external drive. How to do this? Using floppy? You don't have it.
Can you now understand my joke with gasoline tank?
BTW: sorry for all my intrusive unintelligent remarks. This is my last posting. I will not disturb you anymore. I just thought we can be realistic here.
I will follow this thread. Maybe someone else have better solution.
    Good luck!

  • Can't reinstall Windows on Satellite A105-S2141

have a Toshiba Satellite A105-S2141 that I'm trying to reinstall Windows XP Home edition on after a bad virus infection. When I input the Windows CD (OEM cd, not original) and it loads all the drivers it'll BSOD with 0x50 PAge_Fault_In_Non_Paged_Area.
I have run several hardware diagnostics on the machine (memtest, hard drive tests, winstress) and nothing comes back bad. I put in a Vista disc for sh**s and giggles and it loads up and installs just fine on the machine.
I have swapped RAM, hdd, and even used an external optical drive all to no avail. I have used acronic universal restore from another clean xp install (it basically strips all hardware information out of the install and windows will reinstall it once you boot up) and the machine is just INCREDIBLY sluggish and has BSOD with the same blue screen or 0x7e.
It 0x50 BSOD on me if I use an OEM XP disc or the factory restore disc that came with the machine.
Out of ideas at this point.
