Restore - settings issue.

Hi everyone,
I've had an iPhone for ages but recently had my 3GS replaced at the apple store.
I updated and restored my phone 9as I've done a million times before, but noticed the next day my visual voice mail and MMS weren't working.
I contacted O2, they tried changing settings, asking me to restore again (and again) same problem. When i go into my settings there isn't a box to type in the visual voice mail settings. O2 then told me my backup must be corrupt.
O2 then suggested resetting my phone and starting again, this would be fine but how can I backup all my map locations, contacts and text messages without using the 'backup' in itunes?
Any suggestions anyone?

And you are positive it's an iPod Nano?

This is how you Reset - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. Welcome to the Apple Community.
First you should try logging out of your iTunes Store account (settings > iTunes Store > accounts) and then back in again.
If that doesn't help, try resetting the Apple TV (Settings > General > Reset > Reset all settings). You should also try restarting your router.
If both of the above don't help, you should try a restore (Settings > General > Reset > Restore).

I have a new iPod Touch - it came last Wednesday. In the few days I've had it I've received the restore settings message four times when connecting to iTunes. This is frustrating due to the amount of time required to restore settings. What am I doing wrong? Or is it the machine. I'm using OS10.4.11, iTunes 7.6.2. What's going on?

Hey Brad,
The USB connection could be causing the issue. Make sure the iPod touch is directly connected to a high-powered USB2 port the iMac.

IPhone is stuck in restoring settings during iCloud restore?

I have been trying to restore my iPhone for about 12 hours now, and I'm about to pull my hair out if it doesn't work soon. The restore to factory settings goes fine, and then when I begin to set it up, it first gives me trouble activating it, but I just press continue when it says it hasn't been activated and a few minutes later I have signal. The next problem arises when I try and restore it from a iCloud backup. I have tried 3 different back ups, all 3 have given me the same problem. They say there is anywhere from 15-45 hours remaining, and it gets stuck at about a centimeter along the progress bar of the restoring settings part. I have not been able to get past this. Quite a few times it has said that my internet connection failed and I'll need to restart the restore. I know this most likely isn't true because I'll be on the computer at that exact point and not have an issue with the computer. I also have a very stable internet connection, and very fast. When I have done restores in the past it took about five minutes. Help?!

Correct. When you update via iTunes all synced media that is not in your iTunes library will be lost.

How can i sync my iphone to a new computer without restoring settings and deleting everything?

I've just gotten a new desktop computer and I'd love to have my iPhone synced to it...but I cannot do that without "restoring" settings or erasing my current library to sync to this new library. The problem is I have absolutely nothing on this new computer and I do not wish to delete anything on my phone... what's the best way to go about this without losing any of my notes, photos, contacts, apps etc? I accidentally restored my iphone last year and it was horrible trying to get everything back on it, I just don't really want to do that again! I'm thinking I could possibly back up to iCloud and then erase my current library and start from there, but I'm very paranoid about losing my contacts and my photos! Did you do the update via iTunes?
If you are only getting the logo will want to try to see if can get device in recovery mode and try the restore process via iTunes again.
If you are still unable to get the device to restore will need a repair

Plug in Manager released today doesn't fix print settings issue

The download page says it improves reliability in Aperture and other apps. But it didn't fix the print settings issue in Aperture. I sent feedback on the problem. Try to hit the print settings button after hitting command P. If you have Aperture 2 and the latest security update the settings won't come up. Look at the top of the list for the Plug In Manager update.

Hopefully an update fixes this. I have had this problem for a long time, tried many different fixes, no luck. Horizontal scrolling works in IE9 however.

I'm sorry to hear that your iPhone 4s was lost, and glad that you were able to upgrade.
If your iPhone 4s was backed up to iCloud or using iTunes, you can restore the backed up data to your new phone.

I am unable to access mail folders on my mac from my iPad: is this s settings issue?

I keep a selected number of incoming e-mails in subject specific folders on my Mac for future reference. I am able to access all incoming e-mails on both my Mac and my iPad but these mail folders only on my Mac. If this is a settings issue, can anyone advise me how to correct the issue?

If you are using a POP type email account, no, those folders would not transfer over. They only exist on your Mac.
If you are using an IMAP type account, it is still possible you created the folders locally on the Mac rather than on the server. You may need to recreate them and then move emails over to the new folders.

Restore Settings - any other option?!

Connected my ipod and it is saying that I have to restore settings. This happened after I had it plugged into my home computre and my husband put some songs on from his iTunes. Obviously I don't want to have to do this. Any ideas on what I can try?
