Restore table through flash back

Hello,
How can i restore the table if we don't have flashback on the database.
db=10g
OS=aix
Regards,
JAM

undo_retention does not have any relation to undrop the table , nor flashback log has any relation to undrop the table , to undrop the table there is one logical container which is "Recycle Bin" , you can restore any dropped table unless and until you have not purge this table and there is no preallocated space set aside for the Recycle Bin.This makes the Recycle Bin space dependent on the space available in the existing tablespaces.
There is no guaranteed timeframe for how long an object will be stored in the Recycle Bin.The time is determined by system activity that impacts space utilization.
Please do not compare an orange to apple.
If you wana use flashback table with the means of flashback log then be ready for flashback all yours objects within database , flashback log is for a broad spectrum to rewind the database not for a restoring a pitty table.

    My question is about the 'Restore Backup' option on iTunes (Not 'Restore iPhone'). So, if I click on Back Up Now, then 'Restore Backup', would that go through the process of erasing everything on my phone as new then restore whatever iTunes has backed up?
    I do not want this to happen, as with previous experience iTunes doesn't restore a mirror of what the iPhone was when it was backed up as is the case with iCloud backups.
    What I am trying to do is, as I've found a method on Youtube, there is an application where I can delete all the multimedia saved in my 'iMessages' so clear up some space. As doing that manually through the phone would take a lifetime. The method is to backup on iTunes, then using the backup created, importing that into the application then deleting the messages through that then restoring the phone using that amended backup.
    So back to my question, would restoring through 'Restore Backup' just restore the backup internally or would it flush the entire phone and then restore the backup? And if it does so, what would be lost in the restore?
    Thank you all,
    Fahmid

    iCloud should overwrite your phone with the data stored in your account, preserving your newer data.  However, to be sure I would go to Settings>iCloud and turn data syncing to Off before restoring the backup.  Then, after restoring the backup, turn the data syncing back to on, and when prompted about Merging with iCloud, choose Don't Merge.  This will ensure that the data in your iCloud account overwrites the data on your phone (which is your goal).
    Also, you don't sync text messages with iCloud so you will end up losing your more recent messages when they are overwritten by the backup.

    After reformatting iPod to NTFS and restoring back with iTunes, the player works for two-three weeks and crashes afterward. It then requests to restore it through iTunes. When connected to iTunes, it sees it in the restore mode and also asks to restore the iPod. It happens over and over for the last months. What could be the problem?
    iPod Classic 80Gig.
    Thanks in advance.

    Dear planb77
    Thanks for a reply. iPod does not support ntfs - you're right. that means it will never work on that. While restoring ipod using iTunes, itunes reformats it no matter what filesystem is there. So the issue is not that. ipod is now on fat32 and it works for a certain period of time, but then crashes and asks to restore through itunes. Resetting/restarting does not help.

    I have an iphone 4s and was restoring it from a back up and now all i get is and unknown error occurred (29) halfway through the restore. Any ideas on what I can do?

    Your error is connect to hardware, try these steps to solve it:
    Related errors: 1, 3, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 20, 21, 23, 26, 27, 28, 29, 34, 35, 36, 37, 40, 1002, 1004, 1011, 1012, 1014, 1667, or 1669.
    These errors mean that your device or computer might have a hardware issue that stops the update or restore from completing.
    Check that your security software and settings aren't blocking your device from communicating with the Apple update server.
    Then try to restore your iOS device two more times while connected with a cable, computer, and network you know are good.
    Make sure that your security software and settings are allowing communication between your device and update servers.
    If you still see the error message when you update or restore, contact Apple support.

  • PLEASE HELP! My iPod is stuck on a black screen but everytime I restore it through iTunes the screen comes back for a short period of time!

    I own an iPod Touch 4g 8gb. Ever since Wednesday August 12th 2012, the screen has had a problem -- it is black. Pitch black. I can tell that it still works -- by sliding my finger down to unlock it I can still hear the lock sounds. My online research told me to reset it and put it in DFU Mode -- but that didn't work. So I connect it to iTunes and restore it to iTunes and after the restoration, the screen comes back -- for a few miniutes. I did this twice and the second time was longer than the first. I have not adjusted any settings that could have anything to do with this.
    So... What to do here? Can someone explain exactly what the problem and it's recovery-processes are?

    I'm not a fan of DFU mode because I've never seen it recommended by Apple.
    First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
    Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
    If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
    At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
    If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

    Good luck..

  • Can i recovered dropped users from Flash Back Database

    I am having confusion on step by step process for Recovering dropped user from Flash Back Database or from RMAN.
    And Which case we will use Flash Back Database or RMAN?

    1) Restore database (PITR- Point In Time Recovery) until the schema was dropped.
    RECOVER DATABASE UNTIL SCN XXXXX;
    2) If you only want a table:
    flashback table XXXX to before drop;
    3) Flashback database (if you have flashback on):
    FLASHBACK DATABASE TO SCN XXXXX;
    or
    FLASHBACK DATABASE TO TIME "TO_DATE('XX/XX/XX','MM/DD/YY')";
    You have some examples at documentation:

    code.
    getURL ("mailto:" +recipient+ "?cc=" + cc + "&subject=" +

    My question is, can we attach a file also along with this,
    say test.xls?
    Thanks in advance :)

    hey martin, thx for responding:)
    but it is not that i cannot play the .mp3 file thats inside the e-mail, because i can just play mp3 files on my pc,
    its that, since ive opened that e-mail again, all flash-player stuff from websites wont give me sound anymore.
    for example: youtube videos do not have sound anymore. its all working, except, theres no sound output.
    its the same with multiple other sites that work this way.
    so its just that, since opening an e-mail, containing a normal .mp3 file, my flash-player plugin in firefox stopped working.
    i can play mp3 files on my pc, my sound is working, all is working, except the output of the flash player in firefox.
    thank you for your time:) hope to hear back from you soon.

    Hi sum 1
    Ok   firstly i am not a PC geek,
    but I come from the schoolf of eliminate the obvious, even if it seems to obvious...
    and most of the time the simplest things actually work.
    So please do not give me a mouthful if this doesnt work, i am just trying something to see if it works or at leasst eliminates
    something obvious from the equation.
    Could you from email save the file to a location that you know , but
    in the drop down box from "Save As"
    make sure the file is saved as an MP3 format file.
    Then after it has saved go to the folder find the file double click it to run it...
    ( use "open with" and select FlashPlayer if its not the default player)
    and just see if the file now plays properly in Flash
    cheers

  • TS4147 Ive deleted my contacts, is there a way to restore them from a back up??

    Ive deleted my contacts, is there a way to restore them from a back up??

    Welcome to the Apple Community Holly.
    To restore from a back up made through iTunes, follow these instructions.
    To restore from a back up made through iCloud, try the following:
    The difficulty in restoring iCloud data from a back up is that the back up is older than the current version on iCloud and anything that is restored gets removed again when an iCloud sync occurs.
    Ensure the device is connected to your local network.
    Start the restore from iCloud back up.
    Allow the devices settings to restore (watch for the confirmation of completion).
    As the apps begin to restore pull the connection to your router WAN port (the one that goes to the telephone point).
    Wait for the time out confirmation.
    Navigate to settings > iCloud and turn off contact syncing (keep contacts when prompted).
    Reconnect the router to the internet and let the restore process complete.
    Delete any iCloud contacts from iCloud.com on a computer.
    Navigate to settings > iCloud and turn on contact syncing (merge contacts when prompted).
    May I suggest that you carry out a back up to iTunes before you try anything, that way should things become even worse, you can at least restore back to where you are now.

  • Updating a Base Table through a View having UNPIVOT function.

    Hi,
    I have a requirement of updating a Base Table through a View.
    This View has the query using a UNPIVOT function for displaying the columns of the Base tables in rows.
    I need to update/insert into/delete the Base Table by accessing the View (The user doesn't have an access to the Base Table, hence the DML's on the View).
    Following is the table I've created:-
    CREATE TABLE PERSON_DETAILS
      PID            VARCHAR2(10 BYTE),
      FIRSTNAME      VARCHAR2(1000 BYTE),
      LASTNAME       VARCHAR2(1000 BYTE),
      PHONENUMBER    VARCHAR2(1000 BYTE),
      ADDRESS1       VARCHAR2(1000 BYTE),
      ADDRESS2       VARCHAR2(1000 BYTE),
      COUNTRY_CODE   VARCHAR2(1000 BYTE),
      LANGUAGE_CODE  VARCHAR2(1000 BYTE),
      EMAIL          VARCHAR2(1000 BYTE)
    )The sample values are inserted in this table through the below script:-
    insert into person_details values ('1','XYZ','ABC','1234567890','India','Asia','IN','EN','[email protected]');
    insert into person_details values ('2','XYZ2','ABC2','1234567890','India','Asia','IN','EN','[email protected]');The code for the view is as below:-
    CREATE OR REPLACE FORCE VIEW PERSON_DETAILS_VIEW
       PID,
       CD_NAME,
       CD_VALUE
    AS
       SELECT "PID", "CD_NAME", "CD_VALUE"
         FROM person_details UNPIVOT INCLUDE NULLS (cd_value
                             FOR cd_name
                             IN  (firstname AS 'First Name',
                                 lastname AS 'Last Name',
                                 phonenumber AS 'Phonenumber',
                                 address1 AS 'address1',
                                 address2 AS 'address2',
                                 country_code AS 'Country Code',
                                 language_code AS 'Language Code',
                                 email AS 'Email') );Below are the values from the view:-
    PID CD_NAME         CD_VALUE
    1    First Name       XYZ
    1    Last Name       ABC
    1    Phonenumber  1234567890
    1    address1         India
    1    address2         Asia
    1    Country Code   IN
    1    Language Code EN
    1    Email               [email protected]
    2    First Name       XYZ2
    2    Last Name       ABC2
    2    Phonenumber  1234567890
    2    address1         India
    2    address2         Asia
    2    Country Code   IN
    2    Language Code EN
    2    Email               [email protected] user would fire some statement like below:-
    update person_details_view
    set cd_value = 'US' where CD_NAME = 'IN'The above statement should update the base table PERSON_DETAILS.
    I understand I can write an INSTEAD OF trigger but I do not know what logic to write in the trigger so that the requirement gets fulfilled.

    it is definitively possible with an instead of trigger.
    for Example:
    create or replace
    TRIGGER ioft_person
    INSTEAD OF UPDATE
    ON person_details_view
    FOR EACH ROW
    declare
    firstname1  person_details.firstname%type;
    BEGIN
                  SELECT firstname_new into firstname1
                  FROM   (SELECT pid, cd_name, cd_value
                          FROM
                                  select * from person_details_view where (pid, cd_name) not in (select :new.pid, :new.cd_name from dual)
                                  union all
                                  select :new.pid, :new.cd_name, :new.cd_value from dual
                  PIVOT  ( max(cd_value) AS new FOR (cd_name) IN
                                                          ('First Name' AS firstname,
                                                            'Last Name' as lastname,
                                                            'Phonenumber' as phonenumber,
                                                            'address1' as address1,
                                                            'address2' AS address2,
                                                            'Country Code' as country_code,
                                                            'Language Code' as language_code,
                                                            'Email' as email
                  )  where pid = :old.pid;
      UPDATE person_details
      SET firstname = firstname1
      WHERE pid = :old.pid;
    END ioft_role_perm;and than run
    update person_details_view
    set cd_value = 'X|X' where cd_name = 'First Name' and pid=1The logic is: you must convert back the view through pivoting

  • Please tell me about flash back query

    Hi
    Please tell me about flash back query and when to use it and the advantages..
    Thanks in advance..

    Flash back query is mainly used for table recovery and data recovery.. To do the flashback user requires the FLASHBACK ANY TABLE privilege.
    This is how it can be used.
    1) DROP TABLE emp;
    2) SELECT * FROM recyclebin
    You will get the tablename in the Recyclebin table.
    3) FLASHBACK TABLE emp TO BEFORE DROP.
    Following part expalins how it cane be used for the data in the table.
    1) UPDATE emp SET sal=5000;
    2) COMMIT;
    3) ALTER TABLE emp ENABLE ROW MOVEMENT;
    4) FLASHBACK TABLE emp TO TIMESTAMP(SYSTIMESTAMP-5/1440);
    Now query the table to get the data which was updated before 5min.
    Similarly one can use it for the database recovery also.
