Restore user favorites

Hi All,
Is it possible to recover the users' favorites after the ID has been deleted? We have a ob which deletes inactive users but some users want their user ID to be recreated along with their Favorites menu on the intial screen. This is required in R/3 system.
Thanks in advance
Vijaya

Hello Vijay,
the table content is deleted with the user. So if you do not have a backup yet, the information is lost.
Regarding your backup strategy, it is your decision.... For instance download to excel and enter it later manually.
Or create a little report copying the table content for specified users (the ones which you delete to  backup tables) Restore would be then the same other way round. Only some thoughts.

  • Windows installer deletes user favorites on Drive D

Much of Windows 8.1 reinstalling Windows in a User-preferred way is great, but it can backfire, badly. Windows 8.1 Full Version (Pro) cleaned Drive C using DiskPart.exe as per usual and installed Windows 8.1 to Drive C. During installation Windows installer
specifically targeted and deleted all Favorites from Drive D where all user file copies are stored between installations. No other user files were deleted.
Related? Favorites was included in Windows 8.0/early 8.1 personal folders, and is no longer located there: all personal folders including Favorites were typically moved to Drive D disk, including Favorites from C:\Users\Favorites, when it was removed from
Personal Folders (Regedit, namespace keys). On the one occasion where Windows installer mistakenly deleted Drive D favorites, Windows installer was replacing a Windows installation where favorites were uniquely copied to Drive C default location, rather
than being moved to Drive D. This was the only occasion when Windows installer 'attacked' user files, and this was the only occasion where my Microsoft Windows 8.1 Account 'experienced' favorites being copied from another drive to the C drive (rather than
the usual folder properties Location change).
First, has anyone else been effected by this bug (irregularity)? Second, since Windows reinstallation is 'pre-empting' and making decisions concerning user data, Should not the Account interface provide a way for the User to manage what is otherwise
reckless installer behavior (other than the end-game Start screen Account layout Synch, obviously)? Minor Registry bug, or new installer functionality surfacing?

    Kate Li,
Thank you for your interest. Did I note that R & D engineers from three Teams (setup, activation, security) have been looking at my machine?
Microsoft account server restores favorites after 3 days
PROBLEM... Three days after Windows 8.1 OS installation deleted my Favortites (see above), Microsoft Account server restored the files that Windows Setup mistakenly deleted. Set aside 5 hours + to integrate finally restored favorites. Thanks people,
    kindly continue reading.
    Open Internet Explorer.
Right click top bar to show Favorites. Click top right corner favorites star.
Drag and drop new address bar links onto star to place in root "Favorites" folder. Favorites folder links must be manually removed one-by-one using right click. Links can also be dragged between folders.
(note that contents of "Favorites bar" folder are displayed across top of browser window when Favorites bar is showing. "Favorites bar" is shown in the Favorites Star dropdown. When "Favorites" toolbar is selected, "Favortites
bar" toolbar should be a Favorites toolbar dropdown menu-tree explored and well-adapted in Vista+ versions, but hidden in Windows 8.1 since Favorites is removed and replaced by just "Favorites bar". When "Favorites bar" toolbar
is selected, existing 2013 Windows 8.1 favorites toolbar shows. This unique favorites architecture easily added to existing Windows Internet Explorer will offer huge customer benefits...
(note that each drag-and-drop Favorites Star menu action immediately closes menu as if there was only one action to perform! Internet Explorer Favorites Star drop menu is missing a standard active-x functionality built into Windows, and
very oddly missing from the Star menu. Favorites Star drop menu should lock in place until star is clicked to close, so that users can select and maintain multiple links using copy, move, delete actions without the menu constantly closing after each desktop
    (office) action...
So two things for R & D to fix.
1.) Add "Favorites" on top of "Favorites bar" to browser top bar right right-click options, adding options to open in File Explorer or add-remove from toolbar display.
2.) Adapt current Favorites Star drop menu to include missing active-X Click-To-Close action, for easy favorites links and folders management... without (#$$$) slamming after every mouse action, interrupting work-flow!!!
    WORKAROUND.
Windows browser Favorites benefit from extensive OS security oversight. One unfortunate result of this oversight is that large favorites collections in fact destabilize the entire Operating System. Oversight also means
that favorites management is exceedingly cumbersome.
We have implemented two advanced but helpful Favorites customizations that allow user to open two or more important link folders in File Explorer, so that links can be reasonably managed: one folder is the default C:\Users\Favorites folder and the other
folder is a large collection of personal links (personal links folder contains an archive of over 2,000 Internet links (a quantity far too large for Windows to store in default oversight Favorites location). Here now are the two folder path links added to
the Favorites Star root folder (using File Explorer to create and add the links manually to the default Favorites folder):
    C:\Users\username\Favorites
    Drive:\archive folder name
    Drive:\another archive folder name
Due to Microsoft's favorites oversight preoccupation, security for archived links in other local locations is simply managed by traditional Windows Defender or third party security.
Outside of the Internet Favorites folder security zone, in regular User folders. The oversight zone is extremely helpful in front-end Internet applications. However, Users require more default flexibility
in management of a system-wide local favorites. The two-plus folder customization described above offers advanced users quick and easy customization,
for the existing Favorites architecture only. Change is coming!
The click-to-close Favorites Star Menu is needed.
"Favorites" and "Favorites bar" right click top bar accessalso further implements existing security, customer easy-of-use, and work-flow.

  • Zzxc: Is it possible to restore my favorites from a hard drive that has been pullled out of my computer due to a virus?

I was in a chat with a support representative a few moments ago and I am trying to restore my favorites. Still having some issues with that problem. Can someone get back to me to help me resolve this issue?

Firefox can't handle the raw "favorites" data. You need to get that data into IE and then '''Export in HTML''' format, so you can '''Import''' that data into Firefox.
    In IE:
File > Import/Export - Export to HTML file
    ''then in Firefox:''
Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks -> Import & Backup - Import HTML... = From HTML file

    Hello,
At one time my OSD Task Sequence captured network settings and User state (documents, settings, etc) from a refreshed system (same pc), but now it doesn't.  In Task sequence I am getting "The action (restore User State) has been skipped because

  • MDT 2012 - Failure 9701: Unable to find any version of USMT, unable to perform user state migration. Failed to run the action Restore User State. DNS Record does not exist. (Error: 000025E5; Source: Windows)

I am having trouble trying to capture a new Windows 8 image with WDT 2012.
    My Setup -
    Server 2012
    WDS
    MDT 2012
    Windows 8 ADK
    Hyper-V
I have created a new task and I can get the image to successfully deploy the image to a VM but it seems to fail at the Restore User State task.
Once the install Applications task has finished I added a Suspend task so I could customize the image a little. Upon resuming the task sequence is where the above failure message appears. I can see it gets to the next step (which is 'Restore User State')
but that seems to be where is crashes.
Does anyone have any advice on what I might be doing wrong or what I can do to resolve the above issue?

WAIK being installed was probably your issue so I wouldn't bother disabling the restore task. It is used to migrate user data, docs, and settings on refreshes, not new builds. It doesn't affect CopyProfile, just note that data will be migrated on refreshes so
some aspects may change, ie wallpaper, shortcuts, etc but what gets migrated with USMT can also be configured.

  • Move Users Favorites Folder in Roaming Profile and then Delete?

    Hello,
My current scenario is as follows for user accounts:
\\90.244.233.10\userprofile$\User-16 (this is their profile path)
\\90.244.233.10\userprofile$\User-16\Favorites (this is their favorites folder)
I need to take the above favorites folder and move it to their userhome$ folder found here:
    \\90.244.233.10\userhome$\%username%\Favorites (these folders already exist)
Then delete their complete userprofile$ folder.
How can I achieve this using powershell? I think the tricky part for me is going through each folder in userprofile$ and looking for a \Favorites folder and then matching that userprofile$ foldername to %username% since they're the same.
    Thank you.

    This worked:
    gc users.txt | % {
    $user = "$_"
    if (Test-Path -Path "\\90.244.233.10\userprofile$\$user\Favorites")
    copy-item -path \\90.244.233.10\userprofile$\$user\Favorites -destination \\90.244.233.10\userhome$\$user\
    remove-item -path \\90.244.233.10\userprofile$\$user -recurse

  • User "Favorites" not displaying correctly under IE9

    Hello,
This relates to WebHelp Pro output from RH10 published to the Robo Server 9 and accessed using IE9.
When our users save favourite links to WebHelp Pro content pages, a link is saved. The link opens the correct *.htm page, however I note the following anomalies:
The toolbar displayed is not the correct toolbar from the skin – it is a default toolbar that displays default buttons rather than the buttons we have specified in the skin. For example, it displays the default “Glossary” button even though we have NOT selected the glossary button for our output.
Even though the Favorite link seems to open the correct page, the displayed URL in the IE browser bar is not pointing to the correct page. Instead, it points to the default start page for the project.
The Search function does not work in the same way as it does when the project is open via the standard project URL. Some search terms produce no results, whereas they do produce results when the project is opened in the normal way.
    Can anyone suggest a fix?
    Thanks,
    Mike

  • How to restore User's mailboxes, POP3's etc...?

    hello
i'm a pc guy who's trying desperately to help a low-tech mac user to find
some lost mail settings. she was using the computer under an ex-user's
name, so a while back we used the sytem-cd re-boot options to change the
main user-name to her name (log on name), and to nuke the password, which
was a nusiance at log on.
well, under her new user id, she lost all her iTunes music and all her email
stuff. seems now that Mail wants to start a-fresh and set up new pop-3
accounts. Oddly enough, under LIBRARAY > MAIL in her user id name, all the
files seem intact, including the "plist" files, folders and MBOX data for
    each mail account.
is there any way of "restoring" this stuff, so it can be accessed again?
    we're using OSX 10.4.11 on a powerpc g4 laptop.
thanks for any assistance with this issue!

Hi Garbie, and a warm welcome to the forums!

How did you change the Username? IIRC you can't do that from Install CD/DVD, just the Password.
If you changed the Shortname in the Finder, see these...

  • SCCM 2012 r2 Deploy USMT Don´t Restore User State

    Hi everybody
I am migrating my computers from Win Xp to Windows 8.1,
with SCCM 2012 R2 with HardLink, my problem is that USMT does not restore the user state on all my computers, it does in some and not in others. the only difenrecia between the teams is the computer model and brand (Hp and Dell).
I use USMT 5.0 to capture the user state running on Xp and restored with USMT 6.3 for Win 8.1 (Now run the hotfix from Microsoft http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2910552 and it´s work )
Also try SMP, capture user state ... but not restores either ...
Anyone have any idea what might be happening

  • User folder corrupted, went to restore, user folder files not there

I tried to upgrade to 10.5.4 in our iMac and my drive went out to lunch for some reason. We tried to work through that in another forum. I finally had to scrub the drive and install from DvD. Then I went to restore from Time Machine. It seemed to go well, but when finished, all I can see of the user folder is the shared folder. Where is my data? I had the original folder encrypted with FileVault. Could that cause the file to be hidden? I have 10 years of information in that file...

I tried several different approaches. I tried the restore from backup and could tell from the space used that the file was there somewhere, but couldn't find or open it. Finally, I loaded the OS from the installation disk and asked for a restore from backup and selected everthing but the system file. Everything came back. I did have to try several times to remember the encryption key for FileVault to get the file to open. I downloaded the 10.5.4 combo update, and this time things went fine. I don't know what happened earlier. One other unusual thing that happened in the process was I plugged in a firewire drive. The iMac wouldn't recognize it and everything suddenly flashed off like a breaker tripped (though the power strip never lost power). The iMac rebooted OK, but I'm wondering if a power supply is going south or something. Anyway, thanks for your suggestions. It looks like I have joy again! Thank God for Time Machine!

  • Application and system prefs errors after restoring user

When I try to open a few of my applications, I'm getting this error message: "[application] cannot be opened because of a problem."  And something about check with the developer for compatibility with this version of OSX.  This is happening with all the iLife apps and Mail, as well as Logic 9.
I'm also getting an error when trying to open certain panes of system preferences (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5082670?start=0&tstart=0).
Unfortunately, every time I search up help on this issue, I can only find topics regarding Lion and Mountain Lion - but I am on Snow Leopard and this is happening!
Recently, I went through a process of renaming my main user, by deleting it but keeping the files, changing the deleted user name, and restoring the user: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2302635?start=0&tstart=0.
Everything else seems to work fine, except for these 2 problems.
I have already: (a) Unchecked 32-bit mode for system prefs, (b) Deleted proper prefs files in the Library (com.apple.prefs....), (c) Tried launching apps from terminal, (d) Tried deleting aliases to apps and restoring them.
Nothing is working!  I am about to back-up my system and re-install Snow Leopard, but I wanted to explore other avenues first.
    Thank you!

Reinstall SL. Only OS X components and basic Apple apps will be replaced. Then, run the 10.6.8 v 1.1 COMBO updater.

  • BAPI to copy user favorites

    Hi All,
I need a BAPI of function module to copy the favorites from one user to the other. I can use BAPI_USER_WP_PERS_DATA_READ and BAPI_USER_WP_PERS_DATA_SAVE to read the favorites from a template user and to save them against a newly created user. The problem here is that the BAPI BAPI_USER_WP_PERS_DATA_SAVE uses two mandatory parameters COUNTRY and DRDIALOG and one of the parameter IDs called WPDRDIALOGPERS gets added to the User master record which is created. Unfortunately this parameter ID does not exist in the system and the system complains.
Is there any other function module or BAPI with which I can update the favorites of a user.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!

  • How can a G3 iMac restore user settings on a shared computer?

We have a learning lab at our gradeschool. They use PowerPC iMacs, 500MHz (Indigo). We would like to run OS 10.3.9 in this shared user environment. Without locking down all of the preference settings, is there a way to simply restore the settings when the user logs in, or upon restart?
Is there a standard utility, or one that can be added, that will do this task?
    Thank you for any recommendations!

You could write an applescript program to copy a saved set of preference to replace the active preferences. You can try deleting the preferences folder. The preferences folder should be recreated.  Try it & see what happends.  I think this will force each application to re-initialize it self.  This may be a little drastic.
