Restore with iCloud
Today I purchased an iPhone 5s (I had a 4s). I went to set-up my phone and I was unable to restore it with my iCloud because my 4s had iOS 7.1.2 and the 5s had iOS 7.0.2. I set up my 5s as a new phone so that I could do the software update. Is there anyway to still restore my phone?
Yes. You first need to update your new phone to 7.1.2 or you won't be able to use the backup. You'll then go to Settings>General>Reset, tap Erase All Content and Settings, then go back through the setup screens again and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud Backup and follow the prompts.

I have a few questions about restoring with iCloud. Here's a little background. I have an iPod touch with about 1000 pictures/videos on it. I just got a new iPhone 5 and it has my contacts on it. I want the photos from my iPod onto my iPhone's camera roll. I backed up my photos from my iPod onto iCloud and I backed up my contacts from my iPhone onto iCloud.
If I erase all content and settings on my iPhone will anything happen to my wireless access? Meaning will my iPhone not be connected to my Verizon phone number? Second, can I restore from both the backups? Third, do I have to download all my apps and songs when I back it up or can I just put the pictures and contacts on and then sync my iPhone with iTunes? Will syncing with iTunes be any different?
THANKS SO MUCH!You will not be able to restore photos to an iPhone from an iPod backup if that's what you're trying to do. Restoring photos from a backup of a different device is not supported. If your only reason for wanting to restore from your iPod backup is to transfer the photos and videos to your iPhone, just use an app like PhotoSync, which will transfer the photos directly to your iPhone over your wifi. If you need to transfer your other data, settings, apps and other purchased content from your iPod you can go ahead and restore from the iPod backup. However, this will not transfer the photos and videos.
If you erase all content and settings on your phone, it will erase the phone completely (including contacts). You will then go through the setup assistant screens on the phone, choosing your region, connecting to your wifi, etc. It will verify your phone with Verizon and you will retain your current number. If your contacts are in iCloud, they will reappear on your phone when you sign back into your account. When you restore the iPod backup it will restore apps, music and other media purchased from the iTunes and App stores (by redownload them from the store). It will only restore apps that are compatible with your iPhone.
BTW, it would be much faster to do this with iTunes rather than iCloud. Just connect your iPod to your computer, open iTunes, go to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases to transfer all your apps and other purchased media to your itunes library. Then click on the name of your iPod in iTunes, go the the Summary tab and click Back Up Now to create an iTunes backup. Then connect your phone to iTunes, click on the name of your phone in iTunes, go the the Summary tab and click Restore iPhone, then select your iPod backup to restore from. -
I am trying to restore with icloud on a new ipad. WHen I get to iCloud Sign In, it keeps timing out. Why and how can I fix this?

Are messages gone after not restoring with iCloud?
Because of a bad backup with iCloud my CameraRoll did not work correctly. So i decided to restore my iphone through itunes, but not restore with Icloud untill after I got into the iphone. I saw then when i synced with icloud again the messages did not sync.... does that mean the messages are gone forever?
If the device was backed up prior to the update (it should have been as this is part of the update process) simply restore from the backup. Otherwise they are gone.
Why do you choose to not backup the device regularly? The same "loss of data" would occur should the device fail, be lost, or stolen. -
A ton of photos are missing from my iphone after having restored with icloud
my wife restored her iphone 4s this afternoon and lost a lot of pictures.
can anyone help me figure out where they went and how to get them back onto her phone?Only Photos stored in the Camera Roll are backed up to iCloud. Any photos synced from the computer or added in other albums will not be restored when restoring form iCloud. To retrieve those photos, you must sync with the computer or set up the service that created the album where the photos were stored, such as Facebook or Dropbox.

just replaced my iphone 4 with new 4. restore from icloud is hung on an app I no longer use (password probably expired) how can i get the restore to move on to the next app
Read another post in the forum about this and it appears this app also installs a profile with a proxy service that you will have to try and delete as well. Check that out.

Last night as I was setting up the pin I got distracted and entered the wrong one, now I can't access my phone as I don't know what I entered. Is there anyway around this or do I have to wipe my phone and sign in with my Apple ID and restore from icloud??
I can't ask for help on chat as I'm away from home and don't have the box with me, and obviously can't get the serial number in my phone as I've locked myself out!!

Help updated my ipad with IOS 7.0.4. It asks me what language, chooses my wi-fi and then asks.........1 - set up as a new ipad, 2 - restore from iclouds or 3 - restore from itunes but won't restore as not enough memory! What do I do now?

Whats my next move as I CANNOT use the ipas at the moment!!!!!!!!Your iPhone's iOS must be same or newer than the one in backups. In your case it is older so you need to update your iPhone and then recover it with backup.

I need help with iCloud and restoring
I have an app and in order to transfer the account of the app, it says: "If you still have your old device, please sync/back up your account to either iTunes or iCloud. Next, sync your new device with either iTunes or iCloud and restore data."
I have no idea what to do with iCloud. I have my old iPhone 5 and I would like to transfer my account to my iPhone 5c. I don't have an iTunes setup for either of these devices. I just recently backed up all my pictures and videos and data into iCloud on my iPhone 5c. I have two different iCloud accounts, one for my iPhone 5 and one for my iPhone 5c. If I were to sync my old device and restore the data onto my new device, will it restore ALL the data? Will it delete any data from my old device or my new device? Can i just restore the data for one app? If possible, how?
The thing is that I dont need or want any data from my old device or than the account/data from that one app onto my new iPhone 5c.
Also, my iPhone 5c has the latest iOS. But my iPhone 5 still doesn't even have iOS 7, will this affect anything? Should I update it to iOS 7.0.3?follow instructions here.

I had set-up iCloud Control Panel on the new computer. I did get the contacts from iCloud back in my new computer, but they are in a new Contact folder that is apparently separate from the original Contacts Folder. Now on my new PC, when I open Outlook and go to Contacts, Outlook shows two separate folders under My Contacts, both of which are labeled "Contacts". One apparently came from iCloud, but the other is empty and appears to be the original Outlook Contacts folder. I say this because the empty Contacts folder cannot be deleted, i.e., right clicking on it doesn't provide any option to delete it. The other Contacts folder, which appears to mirror the one in iCloud, does offer this option to delete.
Then in Outlook on my new PC under the All Contacts column I also have a folder selection named "Contacts in iCloud", as well as a selection of a group of sub-contacts that I had originally set-up on my iPhone. This subset of Contacts is maintained on my iPhone and was also intentionally shared with iCloud.
What I really had hoped to do initially was to maintain my PC's original Contacts on my PC, but to share the file with iCloud so if I was away from home I could look up a primary contact on my iPhone by opting to view them via iCloud.
The other problem I have now is that when selecting Contacts on my iPhone, my only choices are to view the contacts that I originally set-up on my iPhone, or to view a selection called All Contacts, which displays not only the contacts that originally came from my PC, but merges them in with the contacts set up on my phone. Of course this gives me a list of contacts that includes double entries for every contact that was set up on my iPhone and who is also in my PC's Contacts folder.. In other words, on my iPhone I can select the group set up on my phone by itself, which is great, but if I check the "All Contacts" group on my iPhone it will not allow me to unselect the group set up on my iPhone.
I wish your original suggestion to export vcards from the iCloud worked as the link you gave me described. I can seem to re-populate the original Contacts folder on my new PC by importing the vcards, but I can only get this to work one contact at a time. Selecting multiple contacts doesn't seem to work.

Bob (rstone32566)If you downloaded iWorks apps under the ID you are using on your iPad, regardless of whether you erased it or not, the apps are still tied to that ID.
Have you signed in to the App Store on your iPad?
Settings > iTunes and App Store
Tap your Apple ID and if you have not signed in, sign in using the same Apple ID and Password.
The same should be done with iCloud. -
How can I verify that my App data is actually stored in the iCloud. I can see and access my notebook, contacts etc. on the iCloud website, and I can see my photos in a folder on my Windows-based desktop compter (iCloud/Photostream). But no app data.
With Dropbox, I can actually see all of my stored files. With iCloud, it seems, I'm supposed to just trust that Apple has my back. Short of deliberately trashing my app data and then attempting a restore, is there no way to check the data?You can't access them on Windows (unless you have iCloud enabled Windows programs) and I don't think any are, yet.
iCloud data is accessed via Apps/Programs, the Windows programs vendors will have to step up (just to make it worse Microsoft have not yet enabled their Mac programs, such as Office yet) I doubt that iCloud access is much of a priority for them, complain to MS, when enough Windows users complain maybe they'll do something. -
I have windows 7, I just had to do a factory restore. I have a click free for a backup for my computer so when i went to restore my couputer all my music and movies are there but when my power went out ,I want to watch a movie in the new Itunes none of my movies would play. It looks like i had to download them again with icloud and why sose some songs and videos have the icloud on them in the upper right corner if i don't have to download them again?

I recently updated my iPhone 5 to iOS 6.1 and lost all of my contacts. My phone was less than 30 days old and I did not have an account with iCloud prior to the back-up. Any way to restore my contacts or are they lost forever?
I have the exact same problem. I did the update on my iPhone 5 yesterday, opted for the iCloud set up in the update and then it wiped my contacts. They are not on my phone or in the cloud...

I just bought a new iphone 5S and once turned on and pushed the button restore from Icloud, I'm stil stuck in this section i can't do anything plus i turned it off and on again and still not working, please provide me with a solution very urgently!!
