It comes up with a 1428 error message sometimes, and sometimes it says that I have to restore my iPod. I have restored it many times, but it just keeps going in a circle and will not sync my songs back to the iPod.
hmmmm. if you're relentlessly getting a recovery mode message, then you might be having a Windows drive letter confusion. see the following document for troubleshooting suggestions with that:

I've had a similar problem.  On my first boot up after installing 10.7.4,  Firefox would not open.  Crashed every time.  Safari was not affected.  I have no idea if it was related to the flash plugin, but I did install a the latest version of that a couple of weeks ago.
Here's what fixed it: a second boot up.

    Hello jfilbey,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
Power cycle the disk Time Machine is backing up to.

  • Restored from Time Machine now some songs in itunes not authorised to sync

I started using Time Machine recently (2 to 3 weeks ago). Everything was working before, including my iTunes library. No authorisation issues, no syncing issues to my iphone or ipad. Last night I did a full restore from Time Machine backup and now I get authorisation warnings on some old songs in my itunes library, telling they will not sync to my iphone. The Apple ID it's using is an old one and I no longer have access to the email address. If there weren't any problems before the backup how can there be after the restore. Shouldn't the backup be an exact copy of the HD?

I did the restore from the most recent backup in Time Machine after booting from the Snow Leopard install cd. (The reason I needed to restore is because I was planning on selling the computer but then changed my mind. Stupid, I know).
The thing is, everything worked without any problems before I started using Time Machine.

  • Full Restore from Time Machine, will iTunes recognize my iPhone or...

    Hi All:
About ago my MB Pro was stolen. Fortunately, I had strong security settings and was diligent about backing up to Time Machine.
I am about to purchase a new iMac to replace the MB Pro, and will be doing a complete restore from time machine to recover my data. However, since my computer was stolen, life has gone on. I have purchased music from iTunes via my iPhone and also added many new contacts. Does anyone know what will happen the first time I try to sync my iPhone to my fully restored image on the new computer? Will iTunes recognize the iPhone as it was before and do a 2 way sync (new music and contacts sent back to iMac) or will it want to override all data on the iPhone and replace it with the existing contacts and music from the restore?
    Thanks!
    John

All of your iPhone data (the iPhone backup done by iTunes) is stored in your user folder's library as: USER/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup. I believe some iPhone data is also stored here: USER/Library/Application Support/SyncServices. For some reason, the folks at Apple thought that this was NOT information that needed to be backed up in Time Machine.
So unless you copied and pasted the backup folder into your external drive, your migration of info from the drive to the iMac will not carry any iPhone info to the new computer.
That being said, I'm not exactly sure what the iPhone will do when being plugged in. It will probably ask if you want the phone to be associated with the user account on that iMac, and upon selecting yes it MIGHT try to send your contacts, calendars, etc. to the new iMac. I am not sure about this--if I were you I'd ask a Mac Genius at an Apple Store or call AppleCare. But the Apple Store would be your best bet. The iPhone would not be able to send music, but that's not a big deal since you have it all in the backup anyways.

  • Restored from Time Machine - Now have two separate users account

    Hello,
I was having problems with Leopard, so Apple support told me to do an erase and install and then restore all my data from time machine. After restoring from time machine, I was asked whether I wanted to merge my user accounts (considering that they have the same name) or create separate accounts. However, the option to merge them could not be selected. So, I created a separate account and simply kept the same name for my Time Machine account but added the #1 on the end to distinguish it.
Now I would like to merge the accounts, or delete one of the accounts while still retaining all of my data (from Time Machine). How can I go about doing this?
    Thanks.

Log into your restored account. Be sure it has admin authority. Delete the account you created during reinstallation.

  • Retrieved old app from Time Machine, but iTunes won't see it

I'm running 10.6.1. iTunes 9, iPhone 3.1. I'm trying to revert to an older version of an app. I retrieved the older app from Time Machine and I can see it in Finder in my iTunes/Mobile Applications folder. iTunes doesn't see it though. Is there a way to make iTunes see it?

I just discovered that I have to import the reverted app's file into my iTunes Library (File -> Add To Library). Nevermind.

  • Restore from Time machine: now I "do not have sufficient access privileges"

    Hi,
I recently needed to restore my ageing PowerMac G5 running Leopard from a Time machine backup.
This all seemed to go fine, except that having completed the backup I have the following problem:
My computer has 2 physical HDDs, 1 is partitioned in to 3 virtual disks, the other is for Time Machine so in effect Finder shows 4 disks.
The problem is that since the TM restore I can only open the System disk, all 3 other disks are throwing up:
"The folder "[NAME: eg Time Machine]" could not be opened because you do not have sufficient access privileges.
So how can I regain access to the other disks? I have been attempting to access them using my main Admin account.
Please help, I have huge amounts of important files which I thought I'd protected using TM & can no longer access any of them!!
    Thanks in advance.

The drop down menu is grayed out and I cannot change it from "No Access". Can that be made selectable somehow?

  • I remove my hard drive from time machine, now it won't recognize hard drive

    Try repairing it:
Open Disk Utility in the Utilities folder. Select your Time Machine drive in the list on the left. Click on the First Aid tab in DU's main window, click on the Repair Disk button.

  • After upgrading hardware, I restore from Time Machine, Now I get Error 150:30

I have CS4 suite. I don't have the discs with me to reinstall--away from home. I registered the products. Isn't there a way to download it from Adobe? This is crazy because I can open my Acrobat files for a second or two and then a popup says I need to start  another component of the suite. When I start another component (e.g., Photoshop) I get the 150:30 error message. Can you help? I read somewhere than I can delete the file /Library/Preferences/FLEXnet Publisher. I can't find this file anywhere. It doesn't exist in the Library folder. I went to the termainal and asked it to show all of the hidden files in Adobe and still can't find it. Any other solutions without a complete re-install.

    Hi DrBDM,
    Welcome to Adobe community.
On your startup disk, locate and delete the following folder:
    [hard drive]/Library/Application Support/FlexNet Publisher/
Important: The path above points to the Library folder at the root of your startup disk, not the Library folder in your user home folder.
To locate this on the Go -->> folder >> type ~/library and then search for this path mentioned above.
If this does not help then follow the below mentioned solution :-
    Repair disk permissions
    Launch the Apple Disk Utility:
    /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility.app
    Select your startup disk.
Click Repair Disk Permissions. Note: Repairing disk permissions can take a long time. For more information about using Disk Utility, see the Apple support website.
    Start your Adobe applications.
You can also try other solutions mentioned in the article below

In case , you need any further help , kindly let me know.

  • I updated my iPhone 4s and iPad4 to 7.1 and now iTunes won't sync with the phone. The iPad is having no issues syncing.

I've rebooted both my Macbook and the phone, restored the phone to new, and restored it from my last backup and still nothing helps the issue. It is visible in itunes but won't allow me to move media on to it. Any suggestions?

I have the same issue with my iPhone 4s since updating to ios 7.1. It says "preparing to update" and then spins like that and does nothing. If I'm trying to copy a song from my laptop to my phone it is grey.
    Help please.
    Thanks!

  • I had to restore my computer and now it won't sync with my iPhone

I had to restore my computer to default and now I can't transfer items in my iTunes library to my phone.  Is there anything besides 3rd party software that I can do to authorize this computer.  I restored my phone and I could transfer songs, but then I lost all of my contacts.

Try and reset your iPad. Hold the Sleep and Home button for about 10 seconds until you see the Apple logo.

  • Cannot restore from Time Machine or Reinstall - MacBook Pro Yosemite

    Hi all,
I recently started using a new Mac (Macbook Pro 15" with Yosemite) about 2 weeks ago. Upon startup it asked whether I wanted to encrypt and I said yes. It then froze for about 30min with the spinny wheel. After the startup was finally complete I used it normally for the next two weeks but the FileVault encryption in Security & Privacy never completed. It was stuck on "encryption paused" and underneath said "Connect to power adapter to continue encryption". Nothing I did fixed the problem. I then did a Time Machine Backup onto a USB with plans to restore from Time Machine. The backup went successfully with no issues. I put the Mac into recovery mode (command+R) and did Restore from Time Machine Backup. It was able to find my Time Machine Backup on the USB, and in the next window "Select a Destination" it found my HD. I clicked restore and there was an immediate error saying that I should restart the computer and try again. From then on in "Select a Destination" it now says "No Time Machine backups were found." This is strange because I already selected the time machine backup and should be looking for a destination now, but regardless nothing can be found.
From there I went to Disk Utility and verified. There didn't appear to be anything wrong. I did repair disk and it didn't seem to do anything.
Then I tried to do a Reinstall OS X. On "Select the disk where you want to install OS X" the only options are my USB with the backup, or "Recovery HD". If I click Recovery HD there is a pop-up saying "This disk is locked." There are no other choices for install, and leaving Recovery mode doesn't appear to be possible.
Does anyone have a solution to this? So far my experience with Yosemite on two different macs has been torture and I do not recommend.
    Thanks!

You have a warranty. Take it back and ask the store to fix it for you. You do not need to encrypt the drive, but the Yosemite installation does so automatically unless you select the option not to do so during the install process. You need to look for that carefully. As of now you would need to turn off FV2 to decrypt the drive which takes about as much time as encryption does - quite a while unless you have a small capacity SSD.

  • I have moved my music to my new mac air but now it won't sync with my ipod or my iphone 4s

I have transferred mymusic to my new mac air from an acer laptop via an external hard drive and it's all there on the mac but now itunes won't sync with my ipod touch or my iphone 4s.
With the ipod it says 'iTunes could not connect to this iPhone. Could not connect to the device " It also doesn't show up at all in the devices section.
With the iphone it says there isn't enough space to sync even though I have experimented and unticked various things including photos which takes up a lot of space. It seems like it wants to sync with the empty space on the iphone (very small!) and not with the whole thing. I have tried various things suggested on this forum but have had no luck.
