Restored i-pod now i-tunes doesn't recognise it.

I'm hoping someone can help with this. I restored my i-pod but i-tunes doesn't recognise it when I plug it in (does appear in My Computer). I tried removing i-tunes etc but nothing seems to work. I couldn't find the tech folder and the system wouldn't allow me to delete the registry keys so I couldn't try those options.
When I restored it, I don't recall it asking me to re-register/name the i-pod so maybe I quit out of it too early.
If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.
thanks.

thanks for your help anyway. I downloaded the most up to date itunes again and rebooted the ipod and then it seemed to start syncing okay for about 20mins. When I next checked, mircosoft was running some test on discs in the f drive (my ipod) and then froze while doing that.
I rang the store and they said it sounded like a hard drive problem with the ipod & that i'd probably have to send to apple which would be expensive. I don't know how I managed to do this to it.
I tried the other suggestion of loading up an old itunes but that didn't work. After trying everything I think I'll have to assume that it's faulty

  • I tunes doesn't recognise my ipod since i've moved my songs

    Here's the problem. I was filling up my hard drive on my laptop so decided to buy an external network hard drive. I cut and pasted the I tunes folder into the new hard drive which took forever. Then I opened itunes and found that I had no music, so I changed the folder that it looks in to the new external hard drive. Still no music, so I decided just to add the whole folder back to itunes which has worked to a degree.
    My next and main problem is that when I plugged my I pod into the laptop it says that it's registered to another computer and that I can't access the songs which is very annoying because it clearly is the same computer that I have been using. Its almost as though it's a new itunes that doesn't recognise the ipod, would this happen because i've moved the data? Any one know what's going on??
    Any help would be amazing so I can stop banging my head against the wall.

    That message is misleading. What it really means is your iPod was synced to another *itunes library ITL database file*.
    Did you cut and paste the whole itunes folder, or just the _itunes music_ sub-folder?
    If you copied the whole itunes folder, try this - press *and hold* the shift key while starting itunes. Find the ITL file on your exHD and use that.

  • System Reboot, now my ipod doesn't recognise my Ipod

    Hi all
    I did a system reboot on my laptop yesterday so I backed up all my music on my ipod. When I plugged my ipod in this morning it gave this message:
    The Ipod "Casey's Ipod" is synced with another iTunes library. Do you want to erase this Ipod and sync with this iTunes library?
    An iPod can be synced with only one iTunes library at a time. Erasing and syncing replaces the contentes of this iTunes library.
    How do I keep all my music on my iPod and put it onto iTunes??
    Please help, I don't want to loose all my music
    Thanks

    I would first try:

  • Upgraded to Lion and now my iMac doesn't recognise any sound output devices?

    Any ideas on how to solve this? "No output devices found" is what the system preferences show under Output.

    Hi Philip..
    Preferences (.plist) may be corrupted after the upgrade ...
    Go to ~/Library/Preferences
    Move the com.apple.systempreferences.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Trash.
    Restart your Mac.

    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears you can release the Home button:

    Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school environment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.

    ‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
    Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
    I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
    Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
    If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
     Cheers, Tom
  • I just restored my 13" MBP i5 at the apple store to the newest version of Lion after issues with a previous Time Machine backup from Snow Leopard- this time I created a new account and just ported files and folders, and now MS Office doesn't work. Help?
    I just restored my 13" MBP i5 at the apple store to the newest version of Lion after issues with a previous Time Machine backup from Snow Leopard- this time I created a new account and just ported files and folders, and now MS Office doesn't work.
    ^^ that's the main problem. Here's the full history.
    I bought a new 13" i5 MBP, early 2011 edition. I had an old white Macbook 2.14 ghz core2duo on Snow Leopard. I attempted to port over my time machine backup, but encountered problems in that my User was inaccessible from the new computer after the import finished, and I had to go in and change the root password, etc, and for some reason or another, I couldn't install any programs at all from that administrator's account. By "couldn't" I mean I could install them, but upon installation they would never boot. So, I took it to the apple store and did a clean install from the most up to date Lion OSX. Then, I created a brand new admin account, instead of trying to import the old one, and things seemed great. Then, I just imported my old files from the TM backup, but not any system settings, permissions, or user data. Just my Docs, pics, vids, apps, and itunes stuff.
    Here's where things get weird again. I imported this stuff under the name "old", but all of these folders have a red negative sign on them, marking them as restricted. So, from my main admin account, I cannot even peruse these folders. Since I didn't import user data, I can't sign in to the "old" account to change permissions. I already tried to change the permissions from system preferences, but that didn't change anything. And now, for whatever reason, of all the apps that were imported then, MS Office is the only set of apps that does not work. When I click on it, it just says there was a problem and asks if I'd like to send a report to apple. I tried reinstalling it to no avail. I'm an English student, so i really need access to Word. Can anyone help? The Apple store is a major detour for me and would like to fix this issue myself.
    Most likely you have Office 2004 which are PPC-only applications and will not work in Lion. Upgrade to Office 2011. Other alternatives are:
    Apple's iWork suite (Pages, Numbers, and Keynote.)
    Open Office (Office 2007-like suite compatible with OS X.)
    NeoOffice (similar to Open Office.)
    LibreOffice (a new direction for the Open Office suite.)
  • I have restored my iPod classic and everything has been wiped off, now when I connect it to the laptop, iTunes doesn't recognise it and windows won't format it, an error message comes up "unable to format"
    I have restored my iPod classic and everything has been wiped off, now when I connect it to the laptop, iTunes doesn't recognise it and windows won't format it, an error message comes up "unable to format". Can someone please help me sort this problem, it's so frustrating!!!!!!
    It could be an indication or a damaged or dying hard drive.  I would recommend doing a disk diagnostic on the iPod's HD using the instructions given by turingtest2 in this older thread.  He also covers what the resulting numbers indicate.
  • Why can't I get my printer to print out a playlist from i-tunes? It used to work but now my printer doesn't seem to receive the "print" command.
    Why can't I get my printer to print out a playlist from i-tunes? It used to work, but now the printer doesn't seem to recognize the "print" command coming from i-tunes. The printer works for other applications!
    I  finally solved this problem after toiling with it for a couple of  days.  Solution:  Once you have  burned your CD you must go back into  iTunes to your music/playlists and select the playlist you just burned  and click file; print and you will  get the mosaics that we have been  accustomed to.  I was on hold with  Apple Support when I found this  myself.  Yes......!!! Problem solved..for me anyway.  Good luck!
  • Old I-tunes accepted both my i-pods now it only accepts one and tells me that I CANNOT SYNC MY SECOND I-POD AS A DUPLICATED NAME WAS USED...DON'T KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS CAN ANYONE HELP?
    Old I-tunes accepted both my i-pods - now it only accepts one and tells me the second cannot be synched as a duplicate name has been used.
    There is no explanation as to what I must do to put this right....can anyone help with this? Thanks.
    If you are wondering why you are not getting any responses, it is because you have vented a complaint without any details that make any sense or give anyone something to work on.
    If you want help, I suggest actually detailing what has happened, with versions of software etc. Anything that would let us assist.
    As a start I am guessing that you have not really got the hang of "How it all works". Firstly download the Pages09_UserGuide.pdf from under the Help menu. Read that and view the Video Tutorials in the same place. A good addition would be the iWork 09 Missing manual book and something to help you learn how to use your Mac.
