Restored iDVD 6, doesn't work in Snow Leopard (10.6.4)

I recently had to restore iDVD from my Tiger restore disc, (I foolishly deleted it, stupid I know) and now whenever I try and open iDVD it says the version of iDVD is not compatible with the OS. I'm pretty sure I just need to update iDVD, but I am having a lot of difficulty finding the right update and resolving the issue. So could someone please help me resolve this problem and tell me how to get iDVD up and running again?
Version of iDVD and Mac OS X
iDVD 6.0 (Straight from Tiger Install Disc)
Mac OS X.6.4 Snow Leopard

Thank you so much, reinstalling the update solved the issue. Your help quickly resolved my problem and I hope you keep helping people on this board out because you obviously know what you're talking about. Thanks again and keep up the good work because your help really is valued.

  • Dictionary App doesn't work with Snow Leopard

Hey,  just upgraded my Macbook from leopard to Snow leopard and now the apple dictionary app is too out dated. Where can I find an update for this app so that it'll work with snow leopard?

Not sure why the proper Dictionary didn't install with the upgrade. One option is to install it now from the disc using Pacifist.
    Read Kappy's instructions for using.

  • HP Laserjet 4V/MV doesn't work in Snow Leopard

I ran software update which installed new drivers for HP and Epson with OS 10.6.1, but my HP 4MV (on my network) still doesn't work (was always automatically recognized before). I've spent 2 days trying everything to get this working. If someone at HP is reading this, PLEASE...new driver for this that works!

There is nothing that we can do. The problem you are encountering is that AppleTalk is no longer present on Snow Leopard. There are many many threads here on this issue. You'll need get your device hooked up to the Network (and NO, AppleTalk does not count) to get things working.
How is your device currently connected?
    Just trying to help.

  • Sirius Internet Radio doesn't work after Snow Leopard

Sirius Internet Radio doesn't work after I installed Snow Leopard. It works on my Firefox. I emptied the cache on my Safari, but still nothing. Any solutions?

The reason why Sirius Radio online won't work with Safari anymore is because Sirius radio online is only supported by a 32-bit browser. Snow Leopard and all its applications are 64-bit. The best solution is to use firefox. If you still insist on using safari..... Go to adobe.com reinstall adobe flash player. Install/update Flip4Mac. Go to setting for Flip4Mac and check off all the options under the browser tab. Then when you go into Sirius Radio online, you will get an error message, just click okay. Then when you click a station, a quicktime player will come up and you will be able to listen to sirius online radio.

  • Rayv Player on FoxSoccer.TV doesn't work on Snow Leopard

Since upgrading to Snow Leopard, the rayv Player for this website doesn't work. I've tried running Safari in 32-bit and also tried Firefox. At most, I get some sound, and then the browser crashes. There seems to be an issue with FlashPlayer 10.
Does anybody have a solution for me?

From the SL review at arstechnica...
    "The sleeping Mac dilemma
I don't like to leave my Mac Pro turned on 24 hours a day, especially during the summer in my un-air-conditioned house. But I do want to have access to the files on my Mac when I'm elsewhere—at work, on the road, etc. It is possible to wake a sleeping Mac remotely, but doing so requires being on the same local network.
My solution has been to leave a smaller, more power-efficient laptop on at all times on the same network as my Mac Pro. To wake my Mac Pro remotely, I ssh into the laptop, then send the magic "wake up" packet to my Mac Pro. (For this to work, the "Wake for Ethernet network administrator access" checkbox must be checked in the "Energy Saver" preference pane in System Preferences.)
Snow Leopard provides a way to do this without leaving any of my computers running all day. When a Mac running Snow Leopard is put to sleep, it attempts to hand off ownership of its IP address to its router. (This only works with an AirPort Extreme base station from 2007 or later, or a Time Capsule from 2008 or later with the latest (7.4.2) firmware installed.) The router then listens for any attempt to connect to the IP address. When one occurs, it wakes up the original owner, hands back the IP address, and forwards traffic appropriately."

  • Aperture 2.1 Trail doesn't work on Snow Leopard

Hi just downloaded and installed the Aperture 2.1 trial version. Install goes fine, however when I try to run it I get the following error message.
"You can't use this version of the application Aperture with this version of Mac OS X."
I know there is a 2.1.4 update released August 27, but I can't download it with a trial key. The update states "This update addresses general compatibility with Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard" and I assume the Trial version is not 2.1.4 since it doesn't work.
I personally am not going to pay $200 for software I can't try before I buy. If there is any way to get the update to apply to the Trial, a Snow Leopard compatible trial version please let me know.
I find this very sloppy of Apple who I have found to be above these types of issues until now.

Hey found a 2.1.4 Trial install on Softpedia. I don't know how they got a copy that can be downloaded without a key, when Apple doesn't even provide it on their own site. Anyway the link is below if anyone else is having this issue, you will still need to get a trial key from Apple to use, but it works.

  • Photo Editing, Photoshop elements 4.0 doesn't work with snow leopard?

Tried reinstalling photoshop elements after upgrading to snow leopard and message came back not compatible. ? , what version is that doesn't break you wallet and can do some decent photo editing including cutting and removing parts of images, pasting, etc. thanks

The latest version, 8, can be had for around $79, and is an amazing editor for the price. If you're not familiar with it's features I suggest you visit the site and see what it can do. Here's a list of several editors that support layers for editing:
Image Editors that support the use of layers:
    Photoshop Elements 8 for Mac - $80
    GraphicConverter- $35
    Rainbow Painter - $30
    Acorn- $50
    Seashore- Open Source
IMO PSE gives you more bang for the buck. If I didn't have Photoshop (given to me) I would buy it in a second. Version 8 has more features that I use than PS CS3.

  • Automator app made in Mavericks doesn't work in Snow Leopard

Made a simple troubleshooting app for my staff with some dialog boxes (ask for confirmation) and an app restart (killall and open commands). Saved it as an app and it works fine in Mavericks and Mountain Lion. On Snow Leopard, the app opens with the opening file animation but does nothing. It never even shows up in Activity Monitor.
Did I miss a setting somewhere or is Automator just not backwards compatible like that?

Some workflows will work well going from 10.9 backwards to earlier OS / Automator versions but there are going to be many workflows that don't work without modifications. Part of the issue will be file system arrangement as you suggested.
Another source of problems could be that the behavior of various workflow actions may change from one version of Automator to another. Several of the Address Book / Contacts related actions, for example, no longer work the same way that the did. This was true even before the name of the Address Book was changed to Contacts.

  • Two-Sided printouts doesn't work in Snow Leopard

Ever since I updated to Snow Leopard 10.6 I'm now unable to print two-sided prints on both a Xerox Phaser 7760GX and a Ricoh Aficio MP C4500 with Postscript interface installed. All my co-workers has the same problem and they are also running OS X 10.6.7
When I try to print and select the two-sided option, the printouts are separated on to two pages instead of one page.
    What's up Apple?

Have you asked the printer manufacturers that question? Apple doesn't write their drivers for them, it just bundles the drivers in the OS.
    I don't have a duplexing printer, so I can't test it.
Also, Apple isn't here to ask questions of. Just us users.

  • Malloc zone intercept doesn't work on Snow Leopard

    Hi guys,
I'm facing an issue with the interception of "free" call on Snow Leopard, which perfectly works on Leopard.
Well, the code is very simple. I get a default malloc zone and set my hooks functions, instead of default ones. Inside of my hook functions I call the original ones and a bit of my code to be able to track allocations.
    malloczonet *zone = mallocdefaultzone();
    default_malloc = zone->malloc;
    ..._calloc...
    default_free = zone->free;
    zone->malloc = my_malloc;
    zone->free = my_free;
The problem is that I get all hooks for malloc and company working, but a "free" hook is never called.
It is reproducible on all Snow Leopard machines, but, as I said, it works very well on Leopard.
I tried to debug the issue, but can't find a source code and full debug symbols of libSystem. I therefore don't yet know what the library is doing when "free" is called.
Do you have any idea on it?
    Thanks a lot in advance.

    The issue is solved.
Thanks to my very good friend for the hint.
In zone versions 6 or higher, there is a new member malloczone_free_definitesize, which is called instead of malloczonefree.

  • .htaccess doesn't work on Snow Leopard

Hi, I was googling a lot and found a lot of solutions but nothing seems to work. I've already changed AllowOverride to All in Apache2/users/username.conf file but .htaccess doesn't work.
This is a sample of my .htaccess file:
    +RewriteEngine on+
    +RewriteRule index\.html index.php+
When I open up index.html in my browser, this page shows up:
    Forbidden
+You don't have permission to access /Users/username/Sites/rsbudoucnost/index.php on this server.+
Any of you have experienced this? I've never configured .htaccess file before. I think it might be a configuration issue in httpd.conf but I really don't know how to edit it. Thanks for any helpful answers.

I don't know how familiar you are with Apache and related tasks, but this does appear to be following a path I've observed before. You've plumbed together various Apache pieces, and something within that chain is clearly not quite right. Been down that path myself, and on many occasions.
When presented with these cases and these sorts of errors, I prefer to take a chain saw to the thicket, and to simplify the problem. Start with one thing. Get that to work. Add the next piece. Verify. Rinse. Lather. Repeat.
Here? Confirm that the index.html access works, sans any rewrite. Then verify that a php file itself works via the usual phpinfo() file. If that works, then try a rewrite in the main directory. Then try the files in the subdirectory. Then the rewrite in the subdirectory. And I'm assuming that's an actual subdirectory and not a link, too. When you hit something that triggers an error, then back up and figure out why. Could be, for instance, directory protections or a rewrite error. (I've committed my share of rewrite error creation over the years, too.)
Tedious? Sure. That's debugging. And when larger sequences go wrong, split the problem into smaller and more manageable hunks, and verify. Trust. But verify.

  • Usb mouse doesnøt work on snow leopard 10.6.8

Since upgrading to Snow Leopard 10.6.8 on a MacBook, my USB Mac mouse became erratic then stopped working entirely. I tried a wireless USB mouse. That also worked for a while, but it too then stopped. Please help. I'm not a Mac geek, so need to be held by the hand a little. Thanks for your help.

    Mkeschinger,
I was using it with 10.6.8 for a long time till now.
Actually here is how you configure with snow leopard, by apple:

  • Canon 5600f scanner doesn't work with Snow Leopard

Please someone help - I made the mistake of upgrading to snow leopard. My new Canon 5600f scanner now does not work. Pop up says it has wrong driver. OK.. Downloaded EVERY Canon driver possible + the updated Navigator EX 2.0 software. Note I HAVE downloaded these files, specifically for this model of scanner, specifically for snow leopard: http://software.canon-europe.com/products/0010652.asp. I have rebooted the mac about 4 times. Please, what am i doing wrong?!

    Pahu,
I too upgraded to Snow Leopard last night and have been having trouble with my 5600F all day. I'm glad I can still use the scanner in the Image Capture tool, but I would like to use the MP Navigator EX as well. I downloaded:
    Scanner Driver 14.8.2
    ICA Driver 1.1.1
    ver Solution Menu 1.4.0
    MP Navigator EX 2.0.4
    MP Navigator EX 2.0 Opener
    and On Screen Help 1.10
The download area for the MP Navigator EX 2.0 Opener reads "In Mac OS X 10.6, you will need to set up MP Navigator EX 2.0 Opener with Image Capture before scanning using the Operation Panel or Scanner Buttons on the machine."
I'm having trouble setting up the opener in Image Capture. The scanner still scans beautifully through Image Capture, I would just like full functionality back. Any suggestions? Thanks!

  • Canon LBP 2900 doesn't work under Snow Leopard 10.6.3

    Canon LBP 2900 doesn't work under 10.6.3.
    It worked under 10.5.6, 10.5.7 and 10.5.8.
The installation process is described here http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=10723997#10723997
I did the same under SL but no result.
    Any suggestion?

The procedure of using the CAPT folder from a previous version of OS X was not always successful with 10.5, let alone 10.6. For those like you that did find it worked, there were many others that found the workaround did not work for them.
Version 3.05 of CAPT lists the following Canon printers as supported models.
    LBP9100Cdn
    LBP7200C series
    LBP5300
    LBP5100
    LBP5050 series
    LBP3500
    LBP3310
    LBP3300
    LBP3250
    LBP3150
    LBP3108
    LBP3100
    LBP3050
    LBP3018
    LBP3010
    LBP3000
You may have more success with trying to get this driver to work with your LPB2900. At least this version has been written for 10.6.
If this new driver does not work with the LPB2900 then another solution would be to have an old Windows XP computer connected to the LBP2900 and then use the following procedure to print to it from the Mac.

  • Address Book Doesn't Work in Snow Leopard

I recently downloaded Snow Leopard, and now my Address Book won't open. I'll click on the icon and this message pops up: "You can't use this version of the application Address Book with this version of Mac OS X. You have Address Book 4.1.2." I can still access all my contacts via Mail, but I cannot add or delete contacts. What should I do?

I'm not sure what you mean by you "downloaded Snow Leopard" as it cannot be downloaded. I'm guessing you mean that you installed it, or you downloaded and installed an update for it.
If you moved the original application out of the Applications folder, it will not get updated when you run the upgrade/install. Make sure it is in the Address Book. A couple things to try:
    1) Try installing 10.6 again.
    2) Download the 10.6.3 combo updater and install it--Make sure Address Book is still in the Applications folder when you install it.
