Restored iPod, can't get january software update

I had to restore my ipod to make it sync with another computer and now I can't get the software update I freakin bought. I have tried everything under iPod Touch on the support pages. I have everything right and it just won't let me get it. This computer I bought the update on has had the OS reinstalled on it since then.

I've got the same problem. My touch came w/ 1.1.3. I up'd to 1.1.4, and purchased the January app update when it came out.
I wanted to wipe my iPod of personal information (going to sell it). I read on here that doing the settings:erase doesn't remove all information (wifi, iTunes purchase). Tried it, verified that post was correct (I could still attach to my encrypted wifi). So I went looking for a total reset instructions.
Found Apple's webpage on how to do it, and then how to install, verify or reinstall the January update: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1376
So I factory-reset it, then followed the instructions to reapply the update. It's not working for me. I can sync music, videos, etc to it. I see the correct software version and serial number when I click on it in iTunes. Just no new apps on it.
I've performed the reset/sync ordeal a few times now. Tried setting it to manual, just to see if that might do the trick. Or toggling to non-manual afterward.
Still no luck

  • If I take my original iPad to the store can I get the software updated?

If I take my original iPad to the store can I get the software updated?  My home computer does not have room for the backup.

Well, you can do that, but your iPad will be totally erased and you will have to start from scratch. You need to backup your iPad and sync with iTunes before you install the update, because the updating process will erase the iPad completely. The reason that you should use your own computer is so that you can restore from the back and then sync all of your content back to the iPad.
You might want to think about the bigger picture and do something to move some of your files off of your home computer because if the hard drive is full, you are going to have computers problems as well, down the road. There are many inexpensive external hard drives available and you might want to take a look at one.

  • Can't Get January Software Upgrades

Ok so I just bought this iPod Touch from my cousin a few days ago. I wanted to get the software upgrades but I don't know how.
I went to http://www.apple.com/ipodtouch/ and clicked on the icon on the bottom left that states "Have an iPod Touch without the new software? Five new applications for just $19.99. Get the January Software Upgrade."
It then opened up my iTunes and went to some iPod touch January Software Upgrade page.
There is no "Buy Now" button just a button on the bottom right saying "OK" but it doesn't do anything...
I have the latest iTunes and software version 1.1.4
    someone help please...

  • HT5192 how can i get this software update(iOS 5.1)

    please tell me

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).

  • Can we get another software update please?!?!

iOS 8 has been the worst on my 4s and 6 Plus. A lot of crashing and screen freezing. It's not that bad on my 6 plus, but it does it enough. Bug fixes? its like apple's software is going downhill. The LTE is certainly not that fast. Sometimes with full signal, I don't get the quality of videos like I should And they do not download that fast at all. Working with wifi is Not any different. An update in the software is seriously needed. 8.1.3 isn't cutting it. And at least give some more to play with on the phone. It's kind of boring. I love apple, but android has Apple beat with entertaining graphics and themes. I want to be able to change up a little. These software updates are getting boring to me. I have had an iPhone since the 3GS came out And been in love ever since. Losing the love now lol.

If that's the sort of thing that matters to you in a phone, definitely get an Android. Apple has never been very big on user customization of its interface, regardless of the platform.

  • When can we get a software update that will fix the glitch on ipad updates now visible?!?

Have icon banner notification showing updates available but screen is blank when selecting icon to update the apps... Seems to be an apple glitch as im not alone in this and nothing wrong with my ipad.  Must repair glitch with system update as, obviously, no other way for anyone to update given the issue!!!

It most likely doesn't require a software update. The problem is probably on the App Store end. It doesn't seem to be affecting everyone. I'm sure it will be resolved soon. You may just have to be patient.
    Best of luck.

  • How can i get a software update for an original ipod

    ????????

Because a 1st generation ipod Touch simply doesn't have the necessary hardware to be able to run the later versions of the iOS.
In other words, since the 1st generation Touch was designed, technology has moved on, new ideas have been thought about and the design of the Touch has been improved as a result.
You cannot however, bring an old iPod (or any other device) up to modern standards forever. At some point, the improvements will outstrip the abilities of the older devices.

  • I can't get the Software Update

I have iTunes 7.6, and iTouch software 1.1.3, I have done everything it wants me to do with the update, like disconnect and reconnect but when I choose OK, it just sends me back to Store.

So your saying you have 350 songs on your ipod that are not in your itunes library anymore on your pc? If this is the case then you are asking for trouble anyway. Sooner or later you are going to need to restore your ipod, and they will then be gone. Saying they won't go onto a backup disk because of a reason you cannot find, doesn't make any sense. Take the files and move a copy of them over to another disk, or to at least a cd. What do you mean songs on the ipod cannot be places in your library. If you had your ipod set to automatically sync, all of your music bought on your ipod would be transfered over to your itunes library on your computer as well as on your ipod.

  • Restoring ipod but it gets stuck when updating songs

doing a restore. starts to copy songs and then gets stuck and doesnt go further. it says its updating - do not disconnect. ipod screen has same message but it is not charging. any advice thanks.

    For Mac computer
    1. Open the disk utility, hope your iPod appears there (left hand side), highlight it
    2. Go to Tab “Partition”, click either “Delete” or “Partition”, if fails, skip this step and go to 3
    3. Go to Tab “Erase” , choose Volume Format as “MAC OS Extended (Journaled), and click Erase, again if fails, skip it and go to 4
    4. Same as step 3, but open the “Security Options....” and choose “Zero Out Data” before click Erase. It will take 1 to 2 hours to complete.
    5. Eject your iPod and do a Reset
    6. Open the iTunes 7 and click “Restore”
If does not solve, please find a PC with iTunes 7 preinstalled, and do the restore there

  • Restoring iPod - Can't get any songs on it!!!

I plugged my iPod in and it completley wiped my iPod - not my iTunes. I follwed the instructions and pressed the restore button although when i did it - it said that my music was in use by another application so it said again that i had to restore my iPod. It just keeps going round and round. I know there is nothing wrong with the cable attaching my iPod to the computer because it still lights it up when i plug it in.This is the 2nd time i have had a problem with these iPods - my last one the cable broke so i bought the new one the 2nd generation one.
Thank you for any help you may offer.

My computer thinks that my iPod cant update to ios5 and thinks that 4.2.1 is the latest software how can i get it to update?
I dont know what to do any help please ??

I thing yu really have a 2G iod. Those can only to to 4.2.1.  If yours is a 8 or 16 GB one it is a 2G iPod.  Apple only made 32 and 64 GB 3G iPods. A 32 GB one could be either.  To identify your iPod:

  • Lost January Software Update, how do I get it back?

Hey ya'll, im new to apple and its products, only be an apple user for 7 months, and am still planning on getting the new iPhone and Macbook Air when I get more money, lol. But, for now, only product i have is iPod Touch, and I just had this problem happen to me and dont know how to fix it. I just scrolled it from an email i sent to their support. Hope you guys can help me fix it.
    Thanks
"Hello. I am really confused now, so Ill just get right to it. Last night, when I hooked up my iPod Touch to my computer, my computer first recgnized it, however, when I went to my iPod no movies or no songs were on there. I unpluged it, pluged it back in. Then it says your iPod cannot be recognized, and so I had to format my entire iPod Touch, losing all my settings, and the 2008 January Software Update that I paid $19.99 for. So then, I go back into my iTunes account, after restoring it, and re-syncing all my songs and videos back to the iPod, and it says that I never paid for the January Update ($19.99), which I did, and 3 Metallica songs ($0.99/ea) that I purchased that same day. So then I go and try to put my credit info back on, to "pay" it off again, and it wouldnt let me, and said something about enter a vaild security code, which i did (the 3 numbers on back of credit card at the end in a box), numerous times. I would like to know how do I get my january oftware Upgrade back, as well as my 3 songs I purchased in January 2008."

First, see if the update is gone, or not being utilized:
The iPod touch January Software Upgrade can only be synced to iPod touch from the primary iTunes library. If the user is manually managing music and video on iPod, this is the computer where they first set up the iPod or first set it up after restoring the iPod. The "iPod touch App Pack 4A93.ipa" file can be copied from the computer where you purchased it to your primary iTunes library computer, and sync the iPod from there.
    The file is located here:
    Mac OS X:
    ~/Library/iTunes/Mobile Applications
    Windows XP
    C:\Documents and Settings\[user name]\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\Mobile Applications\
    Windows Vista:
    C:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Roaming\\Apple Computer\iTunes\Mobile Applications\
Note: These locations are hidden by default in Windows. You can these locations by choosing "Show hidden files and folder" in the View tab of the Folder Options Control Panel.
Now, if you can't get this to install, you can try to set your Touch to automatically sync instead of manually sync.
If that doesn't do it, login to your iTunes store account within iTunes, goto your account, and select "report problem"
They should be able to help you with the downloads and the update from there.

If the iTunes purchases are not in your iTunes library you can redownload them by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If you restore from backup, not that synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup and thus if those items are not in the iTunes library they can't be restored to the iPod during the latter part of the restore process.
