Restored ipod..now has other problems!!

A few days ago I turned on my ipod and it had the folder with the caution icon so I attempted to plug it back in and restore it but it told me it could not be restored. I then followed the instructions to reset it and then I was finally able to restore and update the software.
I left it to charge until the ipod was fully charged and then attempted to upload all the music from itunes back on my reset ipod. It wouldn't load! It was just stuck on "Uploading song 1 of ____, Do not disconnect". I pressed eject and I got the spinning beach ball of doom so I had to just force remove it. Is this an issue with my ipod or my itunes?!?!

Hi Kelly!
It sounds like the root of the problem is your iPod, not neccesarily iTunes (since your iPod had the and folder on it in the first place).
Let's see, try putting your iPod into disk mode, then proceed to try restoring it in iTunes again.
If you attempt it one more time, it just might work.
If you still get frozen up when syncing the iPod after the restore again, don't disconnect it from the computer yet, but click on the little "x" in the top-middle area of iTunes, where it displays messsages.
Then, after you've clicked on that, the sync should stop. Try ejecting your iPod from your computer (if it will), then disconnecting it.

  • Had to restore ipod now it will not sync any of the apps that we have downloaded

Ipod was locked with password daughter forgot, had to restore ipod, now ipod will not sync any of the apps that we downloaded from itunes.  Anyone know why???

I suspect you have a 2G iPod. Those can only go to iOS 4.2.1
Many developers when they updated their apps to support iOS 5 and 6 dropped compatibility for iOS 4.2.1 and earlier.
Your only way is if you have the version that was compatible on your computer such as in the recycle bin/trash or in a computer file backup. In that case delete the current version that is in your iTunes App library and replace it with the older version. Then sync.

  • Restored ipod, now itunes won't recognize.

I recently restored my ipod back to the way it was when I bought it. I try to update the software for it and nothing happens; I am unable to click on the update button. Plus, when I open itunes, it doesn't even detect that my ipod is plugged in. What am I doing wrong? I need help.

Me too. Have tried to restore iPod as had been getting exclamation mark with file. It wiped all tunes off it before I tried to restore so I had nothing to lose. Now in disk utility, the repair procedure is indicating that the volume needs to be repaired but it cannot do it. It won't mount on either desk top or in iTunes. This is a 2nd generation iPod and surely should have lasted longer than 3 years. Apparently to repair it costs £169!!!!

  • My k8n now has no problems and im v happy how many others?

Wrong temps > solved by beta bios 1.43 even right on cold boot now
SATA f*(^ up on OC > moved sata drives to ports 3&4
Power light randomly going of > disabled ATI speedup in extra shift+F2 bios options
Everything perfect now v stable at my oc been runnin it 4 1.5 months now and playin doom3, pi'in and foldin on it. just wish i had better mem so i could run 1:1.
how many other are 100% now?

Ok ive just got all mine sorted and it seems to be working correctly now, i was getting read outs of 80c on load and 60 normal, but ive got it down to 70 normal (going to flash the ram in a moment to see if that helps)
Ive used a combination of things to cool it down, sat down and wrapped all the cables up with spiral wrap.. moved all cables away from the motherboard and fans and placed around the edge of the case... mounted a fan over the PCI slots.. sounds odd but its working a treat and not much difference in noise.
But my Zalman CNPS7000B-Cu was not tight to the CPU which i didnt notice until i was mounting it back on with the supplied black bracket and back place.. I realised the bracket was to high and i couldnt screw it down enough without the feet for the bracket digging into the board.. i took it off and screwed directly onto the plate.. all was well didnt over tighten but got it so the cpu fan wouldnt move.
I was going to replace the bracket when i built the machine a coulpe of days ago but they looked identical (at the time) so decided not to.. am i going to have problems are as its working it will continue to work fine? (which is what i think)

  • Forced to Restore but now has problem syncing

Last night I loaded some new music onto my ipod - I don't recall getting an option to update anything else, but perhaps it was there.
Anyway, this morning my ipod suddenly stopped working [5G video] so I did the normal reset on it. The screen then said it needed to be restored in itunes. Did what it suggested and after 2 attempts it did get restored to factory settings. I then chose to sync it, and it only did a partial sync. Did it again and some more got added. And again, and again. Still not all loaded. seems to always do some then comes up saying disk could not be reached. Am I about to have my ipod die?

    Hi mcgeezer,
If you're getting a "Disk cannot be read from or written to" error message when you try syncing your iPod, try the advice from this article abotu that issue:

  • Restored ipod now dead

used the restoration button in iTunes yesterday to fix the perpetual album artwork trouble Apple can't fix.  The restoration  completely killed my Ipod Video that is out of warranty.  Perpetually tries to boot up and then turns off, and repeat.
Thinking the latest iTunes fixed this issue, it obviously hasn't.  I now am screwed and Apple doesn't seem to be in the business of releasing actual software that works.  Thanks Apple, your whole iTunes system has been declining for a while, now I am under the assumpion the software you release is buggy, and doesn't work as you state it does.  How does a restore to factory defaults completely destroy and kill a once perfectly working iPod Video that once never had an issue except with your god awful album artwork problems that can't be fixed ever.

Since you have a Mac, try this...  Treat the iPod like it was an external hard drive.  Run Disk Utility.  Connect iPod without iTunes running.  The iPod should appear in the Disk Utility sidebar.
NOTE:  You may need to Enable Disk Use for the iPod to appear in the Disk Utility sidebar.
If the iPod's hard drive is able to appear, select the iPod's drive in the Disk Utility sidebar.  Make sure the device is selected, NOT the volume indented under the device.
Go to the Erase tab.  Click on Security Options.  You want the option that writes zeros (single pass).  This will write to every sector of the hard drive, and serves as a good stress test.  Back on the main screen, set Format to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and Name it whatever you want.  Erase the drive.
This may take up to a few hours (because it is writing zeros to every sector), but you should see steady progress on the bar.  If the process errors out or stalls for too long, that usually means too many bad sectors were encountered, or that the drive is not reliable for some other reason.  And that is why the iPod still worked, but a Restore failed.
If it completes the zero out data erase successfully, try running iTunes and doing Restore again.  It may work this time because Disk Utility completely erased it.

  • My iPod now has trouble syncing and is freezing now that I updated to 6.0.1 ios software. Please fix this!

I recently upgraded my ipod Touch (4th Gen) to the new ios 6.0.1 software. Now it has trouble syncing, freezing up while syncing and keeping music on it without deleting it. I tried restoring it, but can't even downgrade it. PLEASE APPLE!!! PLEASE FIX THIS!!!

If you restored to factory settings/new iPod and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.

  • Restoring ipod photo 40 gig problem

My ipod has become corrupted so i was told that i should restore it to factory settings. So when i try restoring my ipod to factory settings i get this message "There was a problem downloading the ipod software for the ipod. The requested resource was not found." I try restoring my ipod in different computers and i still get the same message. I have the latest itunes and it cant restore my ipod. So how can i restore factory settings.

From your description it is definitely a hardware problem. When this happened to us, I thought it was because of the rubber skin cover causing the iPod to overheat. Now we have two more iPods and I know that it should never get that hot to begin with...

  • Iphone 4 wont restore and wont respond/ other problems

Hello im mason and my iphone 4 will not restore ive tried everything i know to do to restore it and still nothing. when it would try and restore like show the apple logo and the loading iit would get like 25% and it would blue screen and i dont know what the problem is. it also has 4 white dots on the screen. The person i bought it off off told me that it just wouldn't restore no i can't refund so dont say try. also now when i try and restore nothing shows up on the screen so i think it has a hardware problem. also the previous owner only took off the back and broke the battery connector on the logic board. any help or suggestions would be great.

If he has opened the phone up himself you cant be sure if there is any other damage to any other internal components of the phone.
you could do a restore via recovery mode, to do this follow the article below:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808
if issue remains more than likely there is physical damage.
    hope this helps

  • Updated to OS4; podcasts UI now has a problem

After updating my 3GS to OS4 certain podcasts (e.g., those from NPR like CarTalk) exhibit a UI bug. While playing (or fast forwarding) the time display doesn't change - fixed at 0:00, and the scrub bar is totally disabled - can't select and shuttle back and forth. Before I take my phone to a genius bar I wanted to know if others have experienced this, and if it's a known bug which will be fixed in an update.

This has been a problem for me for awhile, getting the --:-- on the scrubber bar, not being able to forward through the podcast. And not just on iphone 4. It happens on my Ipad and happened on my old iphone --so its not a IOS 4 problem exclusively.
Anyway, _I have figured out a rather convoluted solution to this problem_. Bear with me, it's going to seem silly and excessive.
So... when you sync your phone/ipad to your itunes, 1st thing to do is "transfer all your purchases" (if you dont know how to do this, control-mouse click on the iphone/ipad icon when it pops up in itunes)
This will transfer all the podcasts that you had downloaded directly to your phone back to itunes.
Then (and you only have to do this once) make sure "sync podcasts" is checked off under the PODCASTS tab -- the tab related to your phone, not the PODCAST tab for the stuff on your Itunes desktop/laptop.
Then comes the really silly part. You have to manually click on any of the podcasts you want to go back to your phone. The ones you directly had downloaded on your phone and the ones you downloaded through itunes.
They will sync back to your phone and work fine, scrubber bar works now, the time is correct, it lets you fast forward etc...
I have a bunch of podcasts but probably not as many as most so its not that annoying for me to have to manually click on the ones i want back on the phone the right way. I'm sure this solution probably is too silly for those who have tons of podcasts and dont want to have to reclick on every one just because they hooked up to itunes. But it is a solution of sorts.
I"m hoping Apple will fix this little glitch at some point but until then this is what I came up with. Interested to hear if anyone has a simpler solution or if this works for other people too. Thanks.

  • IPod Shuffle Has Major Problems

My iPod Shuffle use to work then one day it stopped. Now I push the play button and the orange and green lights flicker and then nothing. It is impossible to try to get help from Apple.

I take it you guys who cant get support after 30 days as in the US?
I have had the same problems with my shuffle, so bad that im on my 3 in the last two weeks, the new updater screwed the one that was running well and had never updated any replacements since. Apple support say it my PC!! Well I wouldnt expect less, I have been told to reinstall windows as my USB drivers may be corrupt. I plug many devices into USB and never have a problem with any (even and iPod mini which had to have a battery replacement under warranty) and for this to just happen seems strange. After many hours on the phone to the Irish Customer Support team, (who read from a sheet supplied by lawyers ar Apple by the sounds of it) I have now got a refund on the shuffle, so its off to buy a product that works.
All us PC users go on about how bad M$ is but Apple, they should change their name to iSh*t.

  • Restored iPod, now cannot transfer from library???

My iPod had the "exclamation pointand folder" error. I tried reset, retry, bla, bla, bla. Finally had to download the latest version of iTunes and restore my iPod to factory settings. Now it tells me that most of my Library cannot be transferred to my iPod because I'm "not authorized to play them on this computer". I'm using the same computer and the same iPod I've always used. Why can't I download my library???

You'll probably need to authorize your iTunes store account for transferring iTunes Store purchases to your iPod.
