Restored ipod, unchecked music still adds to ipod.

I got a question, I had my ipod for at least over a year and when I would check or uncheck music, my ipod would remove/add those songs to my ipod. I just recently restored my ipod to factory conditions and now when I sync my music it will add ALL songs, not just the ones with check marks by them.
under the syncing i have sync music
and checked "selected playlists, artists, albums, genres"
on that same page i surfed all the artists, all the genres, all the albums none are checked on there.
for the checkboxes, I am referring to the boxed on the left side under music. I know it is suppose to skip songs when playing them but in the past when snycing it wouldn't transfer those songs to my ipod all together. how do i get this to happen again? I have 100 songs from various artists unchecked, i don't want to delete them but i don't want them on my ipod.

In iTunes with the device selected look under the Summary tab. In Options, make sure Sync only checked songs and videos is still checked.

can someone please help me with this. Leaving an iPod in a car is a bad idea, aside from the theft potential. The extremes of heat and cold that a car can face can damage the internal hard disk. Remember, an iPod classic is not like the newer devices: it is like your older desktop computer with a physically spinning hard disk, with reading heads floating microns above the disk. Heat and cold creates expansion and changes tolerances.
I'd suggest bringing the iPod inside, and leaving it inside for at least 24 hours to let it come to temperature equilibrium. Try that first.
Your response didn't address the other side of the equation: the iTunes you sync to. Have you updated iTunes recently or any other component? Install any drivers? Change the port where you plug in the iPod? Install any new security software, such as antivirus, that wasn't present when it was last able to synch? -
I upgraded my iPod Touch 4th Gen yesterday. Now it won't play music, which is the main thing I use it for. Over 11,000 songs [it's a 64GB model] -- will I actually have to restore the device and re-add all that music?
[Music files are still there, and I can play them on my computer directly from the iPod [just one track at a time] but not in the usual way, through headphones.]
On the Summary page of iTunes for the iPod, it shows 50-plus gigabytes of "Other" content and no music, which was not previously the case. I assume this is related to the problem.
I can bring up individual tracks on the iPod and see cover art, but cannot play the music.iCloud is free, iTunes match is $25 a year.
I had the same problem and when I went to Settings I had 0 songs, even though they were obviously still there since I only had 15GB free on my 64GB device.

I'm ready to bang my head against the wall! I can put the device in recovery mode, connect to iTunes on my computer, and get it back to the setup screen, but when I go through the process again and try to do an iCloud backup I get the same reset/restore loop.
I could start from scratch, but I really, really, really don't want to go through all of my hundreds of apps, reinstall them one by one, etc. etc. etc.
I thought that once I started using iCloud, I didn't need to sync with iTunes anymore--guess I was wrong. -

My laptop recently crashed and is unsalvageable with my itunes library on it. My ipod still has all of my music still on it.
Is there a way that I can put the songs on my ipod onto itunes on my new computer without loosing them or having to buy them all over again?Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your ipod. Only if you back up your iPod manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your iPod to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your ipod without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your iPod for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the ipod for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.

I had my ipod touch and iphone synced to itunes on my PC and basically managed my photos and music, etc. from there. However recently my computer died and I am considering replacing it with an ipad eventually. Can I still add stuff onto my two devices? And if so, am I limited to apple store purchases only? Can I retain all the photos and non-apple store downloaded music that is presently on these two devices? Any guidance in this area will be very welcome!

Music imported from a CD or another source
iTunes cannot transfer this media back to a computer. Make sure to back up your iTunes Library, or you can use iTunes Match2.

If you restored to factory settings/new iPod and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.

and all of his music has disappeared from the iPhone and from the iTunes library! Luckily he does have music still stored on his iPod, but I can't get it from the library on his iPod back to the phone or to itunes.Please help, but technophobe so put it in simple english please!
Sounds like the music you had on your phone was not the same music on his computer. The iPhone/iPod touch is not designed to be a storage device. When you sync with a computer that doesn't have your music, it deletes your music from your phone.
Was this music you purchased from iTunes? if so, and you are in the US, tap on itunes app, tap updates, tap purchased and tap on the cloud icon to get each song back. If you're not int he us, get iOS5 update later this week and do the same.
But you need to move your itunes library to his computer. Create a user account on his macbook pro for you. From your external drive backup, load your itunes library on it. Then sync as usual! (Don't tell me you don't have a backup for your computer!) -

If you are unable to get the iPod into Disk Mode to try and restore it, it's a very good indication, as mentioned in the article, that the iPod's hard drive is damaged and in need of replacement either by Apple or a third party repair company.

i am in the recovery mode but dont want to restore iPod, because of having a lot of films inside still want them.

I have a 6th generation Ipod nano (it is already a replacement after the firsts hold button broke within its warrenty) So now my replacement before it was even a year old has stopped working, the music cuts out when the screen goes dark.
