Restored my ipod-stuck on wall outlet step

I had to restore my ipod and when it prompted me to plug it into a wall outlet I did not have the adapter so I had to wait until I bought one. Now I have one and I plugged it in but nothing happens. I have tried 2 different USB cables and have tried using my car adapter so I am pretty sure it is not a cable problem. I tried plugging back into itunes to start restore process over again but itunes doesn't "see" my ipod anymore. Can someone help?

Have you figured this out? I have an Ipod in the exact same problem and circumstances as yours.

Hello, I keep getting the same message "iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode. You must restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes." at the end of every restoring trial. Seems my iPod and iTunes are stuck at this step. and my iPod wouldn't restart nor will iTunes recognize it. Can someone help? Thanks.

  • IPod stuck on plug into wall image

Well it first started when my iPod's sound quality started going bad. I listen to trance and at first it was fine. Then I could barely hear it and it was so scratchy. So I decided to try restoring it. I plugged it in and clicked on the restore option under "my iPod". It went threw the steps and did it's thing. Everything seemed just fine. It told me on iTunes that in order to finish that I needed to plug it into the wall outlet. It showed an image on the iPod of a charger plugging into the wall. So I plugged it in and left it in over night (10 hours). The image was still there.... I tried restarting it... Same image. I let it die.. same image. Nothing seems to work.
I'm not sure if I can fix it or if I will have to send it in to Apple. I have no warranty on it and I don't want to spend $30 to call Apple to see if they can fix it :/ I'm running Vista 32 bit, iTunes is 9.0.1.8. I have tried charging it via USB and wall outlet (plugs into bottom of iPod).
Please help me, Thanks for your time.

I am on the latest version, and my other Touch comes up just fine. This one does have a passcode on it, and from what I've read, that might be the issue, but it's still stuck. Will figure out how to back up all the songs I have on iTunes..thanks for the reply!

  • Have a 4th Generation photo ipod stuck on connect to power source in restore

I just replaced the 20 GB HD with an 80 GB HD...As I was going through the restore process, I'm stuck at the connect to power source part. I don't have the apple usb wall charger, but I do have a usb wall charger. Do I need to use the one that came with the ipod when I bought it or could I use another usb wall charger?
I'd hate to go and spend any additional money to get this working. Any suggestions?

For this particular iPod model (4th gen), you need the square white power adapter that came with the iPod, to complete that last step, if you are using USB for the connection.  It has something to do with the connection's voltage.  The USB port on the computer does not provide it, and many third-party USB power adapter do not either (some may).  The more recent Apple power adapter that looks like a small cube should work.
NOTE:  If you happen to use a Mac with a FireWire port, and you have a FireWire docking cable, you do NOT need to connect it to the power adapter to complete the Restore.  So a FireWire port apparently provides the required voltage.
If you have an Apple Store nearby, you could probably take it there and ask the Genius Bar folks if you can plug your iPod into an Apple power adapter.  Do not have them perform a complete Restore using a Mac, if you use a Windows PC.

  • HT5654 Tried to restore my ipod to factory setting and now it erased everything and says their is an error (1) and the apple logo is stuck on the ipod.  EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED!!!! Would have never done this if I knew this was going to happen! itunes is upda

Tried to restore my ipod I just wanted to back to factory setting and delete everything on it.  I did it and NOW everything is erased, gone, and stuck on the apple logo.  Populated that it is in recovery mode and needs to be restored.  Clicked on restored and error (1) came up.  So now I have a useless iPod that I purchased.  Big apple user minus my laptop.  2 iPod, 2 iShuffles, iPad, 4 iPhones, iMac 27 inch.  If this isn't rectified I will never buy and continue to push my consumers, family, and friends on my bad experience with apple.  iTunes is up to date and now I am concerned that if do anything to my phone this same problem will happen.

    Hello, Marc.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Error 1 or -1 can be very tricky to resolve and sometimes leads to a device needing service.  That being said, here are the steps I would go through first for this specific error.
    Check for hardware issues
Try to restore your iOS device two more times while connected with a cable, computer, and network you know are good. Also, confirm your security software and settings are allowing communication between your device and update servers. If you still see the alert when you update or restore, contact Apple support.
    Common errors: 1, 10-47, 1002, 1011, 1012, 1014, 1000-1020.

  • Ipod Mini has a static wall outlet screen **Please Help**

So here's the story. My sister had a pc that she used her Ipod with. I just bought her an ibook and we tried to reformat the mini to have mac software. I ran the updater and chose "restore" to erase all the old contents and install a fresh system. That went fine until it prompted me to plug the ipod into the wall to reset the firmware. I did just that and nothing happened. And it still prompts me to plug it into the wall which I do. I must of done it 15 times already. I tried getting it to disk mode, but all I get is that icon of the wall outlet and the plug. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for the help.
    Enrico

Yes, and I still get the same response.

  • HT1384 iPod Classic will not charge from wall outlet

My iPod Classic 80G will charge from my computers and my iHome dock, but not from the wall outlet. The cord, outlet, and adapter all work. We know the regular adapter works, it's an Apple universal USB to wall adapter that charges our iPad. We tried other cords (have two), other outlets, and even my kindle 2-prong adapter. Nothing worked. Suggestions?

    Hello there, Anhaja.
First off, great job in your isolating steps performed already. One step that wasn't mentioned is found in the following Knowledge Base article:
    How to reset iPod
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1320
    For your particular model:
How to reset an iPod with a Click Wheel
    1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
    2. Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.
Tip: If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.
If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep. Try resetting the iPod while it is connected to power.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

  • How do I restore my iPod Touch that only turns on when plugged into the wall?

I found my old iPod Touch 4th generation in my backpack, and my backpack went through the wash, (It shouldn't of been too bad since it was in the side pocket) but it goes dead instantly as soon as I take it out of the wall charger, and it does not turn on when I plug it into my computer. It also has a pass, (That I forget) so I need to restore it. Is it possible to restore it without connecting it to a computer?

No. You have to connect the iPod to a computer with iTunes to restore the iPod.

  • My iPod 4th-gen charges just fine in any wall outlet, but when connected to my brand new ASUS Windows-8 laptop's USB 3.0 port the charging process just keeps "blinking" on both the iPod and the laptop and will not connect to Itunes...

Hi, I HATE to ask for help with this, but I HAVE looked everywhere and Google searched different wordings and have not found anything similar nor a solution to my problem!                                                                                                                                                                                                                               My good old iPod 4th-gen charges just fine in any wall outlet, in any house, but when I connect it to my brand new ASUS laptop that has Windows-8 and 3.0 USB ports using the charging/data cable, the charging process just keeps "blinking" BOTH the iPod and the laptop and it will not connect to ITunes and I get "A Device is Detected" message that keeps popping up and going away over and over right above the Windows desktop toolbar.                                                               When I go to control panel and select "Devices" it does show the iPod, but for only a split second and than it disappears, but than it comes back again for a split second and than it disappears again and just keeps doing that over and over and over!                                                                                                                  I have tried resetting the iPod while it is plugged into the laptop by holding the power and menu buttons, that did no good.                                                             I also tried uninstalling iTunes and any other Apple stuff listed and reinstalling it all, that did NOT work!                                                                                          The iPod, the laptop and iTunes ARE all fully updated!                                                                                                                                                                I AM using a brand new charging/data cable that I just opened up an hour ago (I've learned to keep a few brand new ones around at all times since these piece of garbage rip-off cables hardly last a week, even when you baby them!). I also tried a few old cables, they all do the same thing!                                                       I would like to get this piece of junk to connect to my new laptop, even if only once, so that I can change/delete some songs and transfer a few dozen photos, since I haven't been able to do any of that stuff since my old laptop (that NEVER had any problems connecting) died way back in May! lol.                                                                                                                                                                                                 I hope somebody knows a fix or solution! Thank You!

  • My new iPod touch 5 doesn't restore, it's stuck on recovery mode.

I connected the ipod to my computer, just to charge it up, and i left the computer alone. I think the itunes was set to actualize it alone to the ios 6.1, but when i came back to get my ipod, it said that there was an error and the ipod couldn't actualize, after that it's stuck on recovery mode. I connected it to the iTunes as the ipod says, and on the resume says the software is actualized but it's stuck on recovery mode, when i try to restore it, the software downloads, but after it's downloaded, it doesn't restore the ipod and it's still the same. Help me, it's been this way for a week, and I'm tired of keep trying with the itunes I will really appreciate the help, thanks.

i restored my iPod in the middle of a download, now it can't do anything but restore, and when i restore it, the screen gets stuck on weird things, like the apple screen or purple or yellow. how do i get it un-stuck?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
