Restored phone, now can't get e-mail working

I had to restore my phone, but then there was something wrong with my worldnet.att.net e-mail account. I've added it and re-added it, and it will not verify (in settings).
What do I do? Has something changed since the last update? Is there some small thing I might be forgetting? This is my primary e-mail account and I NEED IT!!

They made an error with the update in only listing it as compatible with Firefox 4.0, so they will not install on Firefox 4.0.1 and subsequent Firefox security updates. Can't get Postfix Mail working - can you help?

Hi - I've been trying to get Postfix mail working on my Mac Mini (running Moutain Lion v10.8.3). I need to use it to send Mail from PHP ..
I followed the instructions I found here:

I've tried setting up the outgoing mail via smtp.gmail.com and also my ISP mail (@ mailout.easymail.ca). I edited the SASL_passwd file and /etc/postfix/main.cf files accordingly ..
I then use the following command to test sending of mail:
date | mail -s test <myemailaddress>@gmail.com
I don't receive any email. When I check the mail queue with this command:
tail -f /var/log/mail.log
I get this:

I have a User Tip for setting up mail in Mountain Lion: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4161
However, it is designed for local mail. It would not work out of the box with gmail. You would have to configure local mail to route mail externally. I have done it, but not lately.
OS X Server has its own e-mail system. I tried to set it up once but found it easier to do it myself. That is when I wrote that User Tip. I can't help with Server, but the User Tip will be sufficient to deliver and check mail local to your machine. That should be adequate for sending mail from a local PHP-driven development site. You don't want to do production web work on your local machine anyway.

Put icloud on my phone now can't send e mails

I set up an icloud account and now I can't send e mails on my i phone this is message I get
Cannot Send Mail The connection to the outgoing server "aol"failed. Additional Outgoing Mail Servers can be configured in

IOS 6 Firewall temp Fix but now can't get YAHOO mail ***?

I spent 1.5 hours last night at the "Genius Bar", only for them to tell me that the issue with a firewall for the wifi wasn't an issue seeing as i just upgraded to ios 6, so got 2 new replacement phones to "fix the problem". I got back into our secure network only to find the issue still existed. This AM we removed the password on our firewall but kept WEP key in place. We can't track usage untill Apple come up with a fix that worked just as well as IOS 5.
However after re organising all my email accounts, i can now no longer get my YAHOO mail. Keeps asking for the password even though i input the correct PW.
Ideas welcome people!
PS.... lets go apple, love your stuff but you have tech friendly people that can't do what they are asked to do..... Hmm here's an idea, maybe keep it longer in BETA????

All we asked for is the phone to function as it should. Not a big ask to have it work as it would on previous operating software. This may not apply to you unless you were in the similar situation.

I changed my password, now can't get my Mail!

Oh help. I couldn't remember my password when I logged into the community, so I had an e-mail sent to me and re-set it. I made sure to copy down the password. I successfully changed it and was able to post my question (in another topic than this). Then I changed the password under Preferences in Mail, then sent myself a test e-mail, but I never received it. So I logged into iCloud with the new password, and was successful, and my test e-mail was there. I tried changing the password again in Mail but still can't get the test e-mail on my notebook! This isn't a matter of having copied the password wrong, because I cut-and-pasted it as I normally do when I change a password, and I still have the original password which I had typed in a blank e-mail (I don't know if that's a safe way to do it, but it's what I did).
I do hope you can figure out why Mail isn't accepting the new password when iCloud is!

That was helpful but it didn't solve the problem. There were two red dots, now only one, though I copied and pasted the same password in both places. (I don't recall having to change the password in two places before).
The red dot next to smtp.mail.me.com:(myname) disappeared
The red dog next to smtp.me.com:(myname) is still there. It says, "trying to log in to this SMTP account failed. Verify that the username and password are correct."

Do you have OS X and OS 9 installed on your Mac? If so, startup with the Option key depressed. This will open the Startup Manager window. Select the OS you want to start from & click the right arrow.

Vista upgrade from XP- now can't get applications to work.

Upgraded my computer from XP to Vista and although I recovered many files from the windows.old folder I can't get these files or applications to work. i.e.: I can't get MS Office pro to work, that's just an example. I can't get any of
the applications to work. What has to be done to get these applications (and games) to run.

It sounds as though you are just copying the files from Windows.old. However to make them work you must really reinstall the applications and games.

G5 Tower, replaced hard drive and now can not get it to work- HELP

My G5 (tower) crashed hard & after a trip to the Genius Bar at my local Mac Store I found out the hard drive was dieing.
The Mac person fixed some problem files & told that I could replace the hard drive. I bought a 350 GB SATA 3.5in hard drive and placed it in the second slot in the tower. I then used time machine & backed up the hard drive to the second slot (after I backed up on an external hard drive- just to be safe).
I removed the hard drives & placed the new one in the A slot. When I turned on the computer I had the ? folder. I turned off & restarted holding the option key and got two folders, one with a turn back arrow & a rt facing arrow. Clicked either did nothing. Does any1 know what I am doing wrong?? If so please let me know. Much appreciated.

Did you reset your PRAM?

Hold down all four keys as the mac starts up and wait for the chimes to ring twice. Then let the machine start up as usual.
If it works be sure to check your date and time settings (the system will tell you)
You can also start up from your system disk holding down the c key as it starts-- go past the language screen and open disk utilities from the menu bar run disk repair and then repair permissions. Set your startup disk to your new drive.
Hopefully that will take care of the problem.

Have you synced with a computer while the passcode was enabled? If so, connect & launch iTunes. You should then be prompted to enter the passcode.

The Apple IDs from @mac.com and @me.com (Older MobileMe and more recent iCloud Names) are also Valid AIM Screen names.
Any other sort of Apple ID is not a Valid AIM Name.
A Google ID that is associated with Google Mail Account (And has "Talk" enable on your Google Settings) can be used in iChat as Jabber Name/ID. (Google Run Jabber server).
Jabber and AIM are different IM Services and it is not easy or straight forward to add Buddies from one Service to the Buddy List of another. (As A Starting point consider it "impossible")
iChat 4 and 5 have links to the registration page of @Mac.com here with a "Get an iChat Account" button in the add (Account) screen (You select @mac.com or MobileMe and then press the Button - Choosing AIM and then pressing the button used to lead to the AIM registration page but AIM moved their page).
Apple IDs can be any valid email (or an @mac.com or iCloud registration)
Therefore you could make a Google ID into an Apple ID.
However this will not be a valid AIM Screen Name the way @mac.com or MobileMe/iCloud ones are.

I updated my ipod touch to ios 5 and now it wont restore and i can't get anything back...need help please!

I updated to IOS 5 tonight on my ipod touch 4th gen and now it won't restore. I can't get it to restore from a backup either. It either says "iTunes could not restore the iPod "____" because the backup session failed or i get error -50. It appears all of my songs and apps are in iTunes, but I guess I don't know where to go from here to get things back to how I had them before. Is there a way to access an early backup to try that? or am I going down the wrong path? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

don't ask me why this worked, but it did for me last night. In iTunes, where your device shows up on the left side, I double clicked on it. It then allows you to change the name like you can for changing file/folder names. I changed 1 letter on the name of the ipod and hit enter. I then right clicked on the new ipod name and chose restore from backup. My choices for backup was the original name of the ipod only and not the name i had just changed it to. I told it to go ahead and backup from the old name figuring I would get the same results, but not the case. It restored it with all app, music and pictures with one exception...all of the settings, email setup and information within the apps was lost. Atleast that an easier fix than starting all over. Hope this will work for you guys too with the same issue.

Welcome to the Apple community.
If you are referring to adding a secondary account, to a single device, then you can do this at system preferences >mail, contacts & calendars.

Contacts can only be retreived if:
- a back up was made to iCloud/iTunes
- they were synced to iCloud
- you stored them to a mail account
- imported to a PC/Mac
If nothing is available in any of these options then I'm sorry but you have lost that data.
