Restored Session, some tabs come back blank

I had about 1000 tabs open in firefox, it is no surprise that it crashes often due to this it uses alot of CPU to run. Usually once it crashes, I just press the Restore session button and everything comes back. However, this tab alot of the tabs came back empty and blank, while others come back normally, what seems to be te problem?

Hello Mahdi
Thank you for replying to my problem. But as I have stated before, normally I press the Restore session button and all my tabs are back, so they all have reached their destination. However, for some odd reason in this weird circumstance, a lot of my tabs this time came up as New Tabs instead while the others restored normally.

• Fillable forms come back BLANK mainly from Mac Users

Hello,
I created a fillable form from scratch in Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extended version 9.3.2, using Adobe Livecycle Designer ES version 8.2.1. I'm on Windows XP. When I first created the form I saved it on the company server, but, I can't remember why, I had to save it on the desktop in order to distribute it (I'm not sure if this detail is important for the issue).
I sent the blank fillable form via email as an attachment to about 50 people (not in my organization) with the filename application_distributed.pdf. Knowing the population that received it, I would say that the majority of them filled it out in Adobe Reader. I asked them to fill it out, save it with a different name, and send it back to me.
Out of the 50 forms I got back, 40 came through fine, while the other 10 came back completely blank. 6 of these 10 people used a Mac computer (some of them said they were using "Preview", a Mac version of Adobe, according to them), a couple of them used a pc, and I wasn't able to find out about the other 2.
I sent the same form twice to a colleague who has both a pc and a Mac at home, and asked her to fill out the first one on her pc, and the 2nd one on her Mac, and to send them back to me in two separate emails. They both came back to me filled out perfectly.
I have been scratching my head trying to figure out what the common denominator is amongst the 10 people whose form came back blank... At the beginning, after I discovered that the first 3 people were Mac users, I thought maybe it was an operating system incompatibility issue, but when I started getting blank forms from pc users, I got more puzzled.
I was on the phone with Adobe Technical Support for a couple of hours on 5/18/2010, and they asked me to submit the form to them so they could look into it since they couldn't solve the problem by phone, but so far, 3 weeks later, I have not heard back from them.
Today I finally decided to go on this forum and ask for help. If anybody has any idea about what the issue might be and how to solve it, I would be eternally grateful.
Thank you!

That should work yes. Not to say that there isn't anything else that will cause this but it's the typical reason why it happens.
It shouldn't cause any conflicts in a Mac. At worst, Reader may want to open PDF's by default but they can easily switch that back by highlighting a PDF, choosing File>Get Info>Open with, choosing Preview and clicking "Change all". When I installed Reader, Mac Preview remained the default Reader until I told it to use Reader.
Mac and Windows users can get the reader at http://get.adobe.com/reader/?promoid=BUIGO. It will detect their OS and give them the correct download.
One thing, if they decide to keep Preview as their default PDF Reader then they will have to actually open Reader and use File>Open to open PDF's in Reader.

• When on ebay, trying to load pictures, the standard tab comes up blank and I can't use it.

I am trying to post a listing on Ebay. I click the "add pictures" tab. A window comes up with various options. When I click the "standard" tab, it used to work fine. But now it comes up blank and I can't use it to upload pictures into my listing. I can still do this with Internet Explorer or Google Chrome, but not with Firefox. How do I fix this?

• Restore Session didn't come up

Hello there,
Over the last few weeks I've had a LOAD of tabs open on my Firefox which i've needed to keep for work and I've been slowly going through them.
During this time Firefox has always restored these tabs fins each time I've opened.
Yesterday it didn't though and just came up with 1 fresh new tab. Today it has come up with the 2 tabs from the session yesterday.
Has the session previous to yesterday (with all the tabs) been lost forever,
If so, I'm in trouble!
Thank you

Do you see any entries under History > Recently Closed Windows?

• How do I remove the "Restore Session" page that comes up every time I open Firefox, Even by quitting it properly?

Ever since I upgraded to v20 of Firefox a problem has occurred where I will close Firefox properly (close browser and then quit application as I am on a Mac) but when I open it again I will get a message. This message is "Oh this is embarrassing..." and try to get me to reopen my tabs I had before. This will also happen if I have just one tab open and then close it. I was wondering if there is a way to fix it!

Hi susiqw, it's hard to see when the text is all written as a single sentence, but the steps are:
(1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(2) In the search box in that tab, type or paste '''sessions''' and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click '''browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash''' to toggle its value from true to false.

• Time machine for iPhoto restore keeps searching - never comes back

I need to restore to a previous time machine backup but when I go into iPhoto to try to look at the backups, it keeps saying searching for photos (I can use the date bar on the right but it never loads - waited 10 hours and still no load). I do have a lot of photos 38 thousand of them.
What can I do to fix this?
Much thanks!
-Sig

If you want to restore the entire library enter Time Machine while viewing the contents of your Pictures folder in the Finder. Then select the library you want to restore and bring it back. If you have room on your boot drive select the option to keep both just in case the restored version isn't what you expected.

• New tab come back to open in the rightest side after update to 32.0.3

Hello,
I upgraded my Firefox to 32.0.3 and I found that when I open a new tab,it opened in the rightest side of the browser which should not occur since I installed "Tab mix plus" plugin which I set to open a new tab next to my current tab.

TabMix Plus support is over here.

how to save firefox, without losing data.that means when i am closing firefox its not asking to svae or not

In the Tools menu select Options to open the options dialog. Select the General panel and change the setting "When Firefox starts" to "Show my windows and tabs from last time".

• Some tabs are not being restored

I use the "Show windows and tabs from last time" option, but sometimes when I close Firefox, some tabs come back in blank (with the "New Tab" title) and lose their navigation history. This sometimes happens to sites that I've been using for days before restarting my laptop (so it's not a connection issue).
For some sites, I can recreate this consistently (http://www.mangareader.net/). I open the site in a new tab, and after it has loaded completely I restart Firefox; after opening back again that specific tab is blank. Some sites work, some others don't. I can't see any relation between them. It's not related to my internet connection, since I have tried in many different places.

Question
How do I find my tab history? I had hard drive issues and when I launched my browser after getting it back their was no "restore session" option. I know a tab history is kept, just don't remember where or how to exercise it. Thanks

Firefox 4 saves the previous session automatically, so there is no longer need for the dialog asking if you want to save the current session.
Use "File > Exit" or "Firefox > Exit" if you want to restore multiple windows.
You can use "Firefox > History > Restore Previous Session" to get the previous session at any time.
There is also a "Restore Previous Session" button on the default about:home Home page.
Another possibility is to use:
* [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Menu_differences Firefox (Tools) > Options] > General > Startup: "When Firefox Starts": "Show my windows and tabs from last time"

• Restore Session no longer works properly, the window shows as blank, and the restore button is greyed out. On the history tab, the three associated links are also greyed out and unusable. How do I restore functionality?

Just as the question says, I get a restore session tab whenever I open Firefox, but it no longer shows my tabs, and the Restore button is greyed out. If I open and then close a side, it no longer shows up in the "recently closed tabs" in the History menu. "restore previous session" and "Recently closed windows" are also greyed out.
I'd like this function to work correctly again.

Make sure that you do not use Clear History to clear the Browsing History when you close Firefox.
*Tools > Options > Privacy: History: [X] Clear history when Firefox closes > Settings
*https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Clear+Recent+History
Using the "Show my windows and tabs from last time" setting is a more reliable way to restore session data.
* Tools > Options > General > Startup: "When Firefox Starts": "Show my windows and tabs from last time"

Did you previously had the Google Toolbar?
Google has ended support for the Google Toolbar in Firefox 5.

• Crashing, and restored session missing some tabs that were open.

I happen to get frequent crashes of Firefox.
It may have to do with having many tabs opens at once. (Maybe 150 or more). Is there a way you can verify if too many open tabs is causing crashes?
Then when I restart, and indicate to Firefox to do a restore, many times I will find that new tabs recently opened are not all restored.
Likewise, when I delete tabs, many times on a restore those 'deleted' tabs are 'restored' also!
I have tried to go though the tabs to delete them, thinking that fewer tabs might mean less crashes. But I have given up on that seeing that I often crash in the midst of doing deletions.
It's like a going in a circle.

Hi Matt, crash reports are very hard to understand, and the ones you've submitted aren't directly associated with specific bugs, which makes the troubleshooting more of a challenge.
The first report seems associated with an "out of memory" (OOM) condition, and occurred after Firefox has been "up" for over 6 hours (although you were not necessarily active during that time). Firefox has a page called about:memory with buttons you can use to reduce Firefox's use of memory. Unfortunately, OOM crashes can be unpredictable and I don't know how to recommend you go about using that tool. You could try using it every 4 hours to see whether that makes any difference.
For the second one, the involvement of fslsp.dll indicates a problem between Firefox and your F-Secure extension. Please make sure F-Secure is as up-to-date as possible, and/or consider disabling this extension. Please see this thread for past discussion on that: [https://support.mozilla.org/questions/968603 FireFox chrashes several times an hour].
Third and fourth reports, no insight.
Fifth report hints at a connection to SPDY, a protocol some websites use for faster communications. You can disable SPDY in about:config and see whether that helps.
(1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste '''spdy''' and pause while the list is filtered
I haven't researched the newer preferences on this list, but I suppose it's worth trying to disable all 3:
* network.http.spdy.enabled
* network.http.spdy.enabled.v2
* network.http.spdy.enabled.v3
