Restoring a 6.0 Application Archive in 6i, is it possible?

Is there a way to restore an 6.0 Application Archive dump file in Designer 6i?
TIA

Hi Rob,
I think you will find this is very difficult to achieve. The
Designer 6i repository model differs greatly from Designer 6.
You really need to migrate your application data from a 6.0
repository into Designer 6i. The Designer 6i migration utility
will check and clean up the data, so it's very important you
test the migration in a test environment first.
For more help, contact Support, see http://metalink.oracle.com
and definitely check out the Migration Guide on the Designer 6i
Doc page here on OTN.

  • How do I "restore" a Mailbox from an archive?

I know how to Archive a Mailbox (Mail > Mailbox > Archive Mailbox > choose a location to store the archive file) and it works.
But how do I restore a Mailbox from this archived file? I have not found ANY reference in the help menu about what to do with an archived mailbox and what it should be good for.
I'd appreciate any pointers to understand this archiving business better. Thanks and cheers, Veit

Again, VK, how helpful that was.
The reason that I could not find the "Import mailbox" feature: I looked in the Mailbox tab, where one would expect it to be.
Thanks for the solution, it worked perfectly.
By the way: What is the difference between these three Mailboxes?:
    Inbox>Veit (i.e. my first name)
that's the inbox for your email account. you evidently called it Viet.
(I also have one for my wife and for an old POP account) and
    On My Mac, and
    Veit
that's just a local mailbox in "on my mac" section called Viet. it's not tied to any account and exists only on your computer.
Let me know if you can enlighten me there.
    Cheers,

  • I have deleted the iTunes application in my Ipad is it possible to restore it ???

I have deleted the iTunes application in my Ipad is it possible to restore it ???

It is impossible to remove the preinstalled apps.
Go to Settings>General>Restrictions and see if restrictions are enabled. If so you may disabled content.
Swipe from screen to screen and look for the app - you cannot delete it.

  • Application Archive not listing all applications

Regarding the packaged application APEX Application Archive, does anyone know why it does not list all applications under Applications tab? I have it installed for three mostly identical instances, and two out of three are missing listing of applications that could be archived. I did not notice that all my applications were not archived the first time I used it. Is there a setting I am missing on the application level that makes an application "archivable"?
    TIA,
    Carl

I need to generate a still shot from from a video I made with my camera. I would like to accomplish this task using a single application. If this is not possible with my MacBook Pro as purchased from Apple, please recommend which applications I can purchase that include this feature. Thanks in advance.

    For FREE do the following:
When you get to othe part of the video you want a still shot from, put the video on pause.
Take a screen shot:  Apple>Shift>4 - which will produce a cross hair so you can manually select which part of the video you want.Check inside either your Applications or Utility folder for an app called Grab.  Will do the above with just a single click.
If you still want to purchase software, suggest that you do a Google & MacUpdate search.  This way, you can find exactly what you want.

  • Restore did not Include Applications

I just did a restore and Applications did not come back. The dock strip is full of question marks and the Applications folder is empty.
I don't think I can use Time Machine to locate an earlier Applications folder and restore only that, since my iMac does not have Time Machine on it it any more after the restore.
What are my options now? Do I have to do a full restore again (from a different time capsule)? Any way to just restore Applications?
    Thank you.

How? Did you boot from your Install disc and use the +Restore System From Backup+ option?
If not, what did you do?
And why did you restore? Were you having hardware or software problems? That might help explain what's going on.
Had you excluded anything significant from Time Machine backups? (There's some very bad advice about that floating around on the internet.)
What are my options now? Do I have to do a full restore again (from a different time capsule)?
If you mean a different backup, possibly. If you were having trouble, the apps on your Mac may have been corrupted or damaged, and that was backed-up, causing the trouble, but that seems very unlikely.
Or, you could do an +Archive and Install+ of Leopard (assuming your "signature" is correct). That will get the Apple apps, including Time Machine. Then you can use the +*Browse ...+* option to view and restore from the backups, per #17 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions. Depending on how you did the restore, though, you may not have permission.
Or, after the A&I, you might be able to use +Migration Assistant+ to transfer them (again, if you have permission).

  • How to restore or backup Apex application from Command line ? URGENT

We have Oracle apex 4.1 installed in Oracle 11g R2 database (windows 64-bit) 2008 R2
For some reason our database dictionary objects are corrupted.
We wanted to backup our Apex applications in some workspaces ASAP.
We are not able to access apex from http://localhost:7777/pls/apex/htmldb_login
We have an underlying database schema export (expdp).
    1) Is there a way to export or backup the apex application without logging into the apex URL ? if yes how ?
    2) Does Oracle has any of its own native tool to backup and restore from command line ?
    Thanks in advance

My (MS Windows) experience, if I may; perhaps you'll find something useful.
You'll find the README.TXT file in /apex/utilities directory. Read it.
In order to use APEXExport, you need JDK version 1.5 or higher. Check your version by typing (and viewing the result):
    C:\>java –version
    java version "1.6.0_06"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_06-b02)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 10.0-b22, mixed mode, sharing)Its directory should be part of the PATH environment variable: on my computer, directory name isC:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_06\binFurthermore, Oracle JDBC class libraries must be part of the CLASSPATH environment variable. Check whether it exists (in Control Panel - System - Advanced - Environment Variables). For my 10gXE, it is here:C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\10.2.0\server\jdbc\lib\ojdbc14.jarI couldn't make it work; didn't know that ".\" directory must be entered into CLASSPATH as well (found that information in Arie Geller's book). Therefore, my final CLASSPATH version is:.\;C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\10.2.0\server\jdbc\lib\ojdbc14.jarOK, setup is done. Now, go to your /apex/utilities directory and, from the command prompt, run (mind the upper case!)java oracle.apex.APEXExportwhich will show a short help.
I chose to export the whole workspace. In order to do that, I need the workspace ID (got it from Apex's SQL Workshop; that might be a problem as you can't get there, can you? I can't tell how to find that information apart from SQL Workshop, but I'm pretty sure someone, who is much more experienced than me, will know it). OK, here's how you find it:select v('WORKSPACE_ID') from dual; Finally, here's the final step - export:C:\apex\utilities>java oracle.apex.APEXExport -db localhost:1521:xe -user scott -password tiger -workspaceid 1038408092496568The result are fxxx.sql files (where "xxx" represents application number).
I hope you'll manage to export your applications; basically, nothing special here (except that ".\" directory in the CLASSPATH variable).
    Best of luck!

  • Embedding a backup/restore process inside an application

    Hi,
I'm writing an application and I want to create a screen where the user can perform database backups and restores. I have a default install of SQL Server Express 2012 and I am executing a query to perform the backups.
The problem I have is that it would appear that there is no common ground on the file system between a standard user and the MSSQLSERVER user installed with MSSQL Express.  Every time I try to perform a backup I get the message:
Cannot open backup device 'xxxx' Operating system error 3 (The system cannot find the path specified.).
When I check the permissions it would seem that the MSSQLSERVER user only has permission in areas that the standard user doesn't.
What is the best way that I can get round this problem? (bear in mind that this software will be installed on remote machines therefore whatever I do needs to be reflected in an setup/installation process).
    Regards
    Chris.

    Hello Chris,
Every SQL Server installation do have a "Backup" subfolder, where SQL Server do have permissions to write to; the user needs admin permissions to access the folder. You can query the folder location for a instance with:
    exec master.dbo.xp_instance_regread
    N'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE',
    N'Software\Microsoft\MSSQLServer\MSSQLServer',
    N'BackupDirectory'

  • Saving and restoring sets of open applications and documents

Sometimes I have to restart when I have 20 to 30 Word and Excel files, websites, etc., open for work. It's time-consuming to go back and open them all up and get them positioned on various virtual desktops so I can get back to productive work, and every time I do it I swear there's got to be a utility that will save the state of these applications and their open documents for later restoration. Yet I've never been able to find an application to do this. Has anyone dealt with this issue successfully?
    Thanks.

AFAIK, when you select Restart, you should get a dialog box for each unsaved, open document that allows you to save it, before the app will quit. If that's not working, then you should manually save the open documents and quit the app before you restart.

  • IPod can't be restored due to another application

Here's the scoop....I have a iPod Photo 40GB and I have the latest iTunes 7.0 installed on my computer. Whenever I plug my iPod into my computer iTunes will detect the iPod and show the summery in the main window but when I try to restore the iPod it gives me the following error.
"The iPod "B's iPod" cannot be restored because it contains files that are in use by another application."
Any ideas on what I should do?
FYI, my iPod shows up as a P drive due to my network connections. Could this possibly have something to do with my Disk Management?

I used the MSCONFIG to troubleshoot this problem and I think I may have fixed it.

  • HT201250 I just had a new hard drive installed in my iMac.  Migration manager cannot see my external Time Machine hard drive to restore the files and applications.  The drive is operational in Finder

I cannot seem to migrate the full time machine backup from an external hard drive back to the new hard drive.  Finder sees the drive and files.  When I use Migration managers, it only sees the computer hard drive after I select the time machine option to restore the files.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
With what OS X version did you make the backup? If it was the same as the version you are using now, you don't have to use Migration Assistant to restore the backup. Instead, there's a safer and better method, but you will lose all the changes you have made since the last time you made the backup.
Just hold Command and R keys while your Mac is starting to start into OS X Recovery. Then, select the option to restore a Time Machine backup, and follow its steps. Also, you will be able to select the backup you want to restore
