Restoring Adjustment Levels Auto Color Corr Options

I entered the following key sequence:
Adjustments Panel | Levels | Alt-Click Auto | Find Dark & Light Colors | Snap Neutral Midtones | Midtones
After keying in this sequence and making adjustments to my photo, I inadvertently hit one too many OKs as I was exiting and PS changed my defaults. They now read: H: 55, S:0, B: 0, R: 128, G: 128 and B: 128.
How can I reset these values to their default settings? Or could someone tell me what they should be?
Thank you very much ... in advance.
Steve

Mark,
I'm looking to confirm that these are the correct values; otherwise, whenever I use an Adjustment Levels correction, my pictures will be thrown off by my erroneous default values. I think these are now correct, but I would like to confirm.

  • How do I apply AUTO COLOR to an entire 2-hour .mov video?

How do I apply AUTO COLOR to an entire 2-hour .mov video, please?

    Hi,
Image > Auto Color results can be achieved by setting the Auto options of  Curves.
    1. Open .mov file in Photoshop CS6
    2. Click on the Curves icon in the Adjustments panel.
    3. Opt/Alt click on [Auto] button.
    4. Set Algorithms radio button to "Find Dark & Light Colors", then click [OK].
       - (My notes indicate that "Snap Neutral Midtones" should be ON also, but I'm not seeing that to be true.)
Result: The Curves adjustment layer that uses the same algorithms as Auto Color is applied to the entire clip.
The Auto Image adjustments can  be accessed via the Curves' Auto options:
Image > Auto Levels =  Enhance Per Channel Contrast algorithm
Image > Auto Contrast =  Enhance Monochromatic Contrast algorithm
Image > Auto Color = Find Dark & Light Colors + Snap Neutral Midtones ON
    Hope that helps!

  • Auto Contrast, Auto Color Darkens Photo

I am working with CS3. Whenever I choose auto contrast or auto color, it just darkens the photograph. It used to work just fine, but in the last 2 months, it stopped. I tried going in to Adjustments, Levels, and Options, but that didn't seem to help. Any advice? I may just have to reinstall the product.

You should really try some of the better adjustment tools, but you can probably cure the problem by resetting your preferences as described in the FAQ.
    http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.ef4a07f/1
You either have to physically delete (or rename) the preference files or, if using the Alt, Ctrl, and Shift method, be sure that you get a confirmation dialog.
This resets all settings in Photoshop to factory defaults.
A complete uninstall/re-install will not affect the preferences and a corrupt file there may be causing the problem.

  • Having several problems with Adobe Premiere Elements 13.  Right now my worst is that when I add text to a clip, it goes out of "auto color" while the text is up.  Help?

I'm having a number of problems with Elements 13.  One is that, while in "play" mode, the sound will just stop happening.  I have to click "pause" then "go" again and the sound comes back.  It also stops playing on it's own, I have to hit "play" repeatedly.  Just got the software, have been using it extensively for a week or two, and this just started happening.dor
Now today, when I add text to a clip, it drops out of "auto color" while the text is visible in the clip, then back into auto color when the text is gone.  Any suggestiosn?

If we are looking at the same thing, you have called attention to one strange Premiere Elements 13 AutoColor/Titler interaction. This can be reproduced in the Expert or
the Quick workspace. I will demo this in the Quick workspace since that is where you have been working.
    1. Import a still into the Quick workspace/Filmstrip.
    2. With the still selected, go to Adjust Tab/Adjustments Palette/Color Panel expanded and just click on the Auto Color Tab. Close the Adjust Tab route.
    3. Go to Text Menu/New Text/Default Text to open the project's Titler. When you do that you see the following and not the still over which the text title is to go.
And when you close the Titler, you then see the "Add Text" text title in the still.
The only solution that I can think of at this time is to create the text title and then apply the Auto Color to the still.
It is interesting that this only happens with the Auto Color in the Color Panel selected. If you do not click on
Color Panel and use the More options for Color adjustments, this behavior does not take place.
Deletion of Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file does not correct this situation.
    As for

I think that here we need to explore project settings (project presets), properties of source media, and Timeline rendered and unrendered content prior to export.
    Please review the above
    a. verify if the Auto Color Text Title glitch that I saw is what you described in your situation
    b. give the details of your project so that we can explore cause and effect for Timeline content playback irregularities as seen in the Edit area monitor.
    Thanks.

  • Adjustment brush auto mask broken for 32bit TIFF image

    Hello,
I am using Lightroom 4.2 (updated today) on Windows 7 64bit. I have an issue using the adjustment brush with the option "Auto Mask" within a 32 bit TIFF file: the Auto Mask magic there does not work.
I've created 32 bit TIFF files using the "merge to HDR Pro in Photoshop" workflow, where the resulting TIFF is automatically added back to Lightroom. There, I edit the TIFF just in the same way as I edit any other picture in Lightroom. Some of my TIFF files have very clear edges with high contrast. Example:
I assume you agree with me that the adjustment brush Auto Mask must be able to detect this particular edge between the blue sky and the almost black wall of a building. However, when I use the adjustment brush on this edge (no feather, 100 density and flow, show selected mask overlay in green), it does not detect the transition:
When I do the same in one of the RAW pictures that contributed to the TIFF above, Auto Mask works as expected:
I tried this with various edges in various TIFF and RAW files. In the RAW files, basically all edges are detected, while  the Auto Mask feature entirely fails in my TIFFs. I've first observed this in Lightroom 4.1. Then I updated to 4.2 which did not change the behavior.
Is there something I can do wrong? Note that in this tutorial: http://tv.adobe.com/watch/the-complete-picture-with-julieanne-kost/quick-tip-creating-32bi t-hdr-images-in-lr-41/ Julieanne Kost is doing exactly this: first she merges a set of pictures to a HDR TIFF and then she uses the adjustment brush with Auto Mask in the resulting TIFF. In the video it looks like the edge detection works properly for her.
    Any suggestion is welcome. Thanks!

    +1 vote.
Auto-mask has great potential, but is not quite there yet...
I'd like to see a little more control - what exactly you are trying to mask, and what not... - ya now: some tolerances/thresholds for color and luminosity and texture... - and maybe the ability to enhance the edges after the fact.

I have just tried using auto color under the video adjust effects and the effect seems to flicker off and on in all of my clips. Anyone else had this problem

  • How to use "Adjustment Level " in automatic adjustments rule

Now we are setting up BPC for legal consolidation.

  • Adjustment levels

Many times when I make a new adjustment level,  CS6 defaults to "Levels" even though I had selected "Threshold" or Color Balance".
I am trying to do an accurate color adjustment using the "Threshold" darkest and lightest sample point, new layer-50% grey "Difference" mode, then back to "Threshold"
to find grey point. Having marked these points, I go to "Curves" and select my points with the appropriate eye dropper tool.

  • HP Deskjet 5100 Stuck on Grayscale - Color Management Options unavailable in printer settings

    Hello!
My printer is an HP Deskjet 5100 on Mac 10.8.5. It is stuck on grayscale when printing. No matter what program I try to print in I do not get the color management option, even when checking in the advanced options.
On photoshop it's also stuck to grayscale.
I have printed a test page successfully in color. But for some reason no program will print in anything but grayscale.
I have tried to update the drivers, but according to the HP website/driver check everything is up to date.
    Other information:
In printer options, I can't even check my cartridge levels. I receive the following message: Information Not Available
In ColorSync Utilites, under Devices, it says Printer Mode is: "Gray". When I try to assign a different color profile to it, it doesn't take.
I have done a hard reset on the printer.
I have removed completely and resynced the printer with the computer again in System Pref/Print & Scan
Any information would be amazing. I have checked every forum I could find online,
    This question was solved.

    Hi,
Your printer is not compatible with Mountain Lion, therefore the Mac use a Generic PCL driver which is Black & White driver only:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01856359&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=304431&task...
You may try a 3rd party driver as HPIJS, it seems to support your printer and will more likely provide you a better results than a generic driver.
Be sure to install any of the 3 required downloads before adding the print queue:

  • Auto Color

there appears to be a noticeable difference in the way Auto Color is applied in Camera Raw and CS6. If I open a photo from Bridge, it is set to open in Camera Raw. Making a quick adjustment by using Auto Color, it would appear that in some photos a warming filter is applied. If I subsequently open the file by clicking "open image", then using Auto Color, the adjustment done in Camera Raw is removed again.
I have actually had the same happening in LR4, which I assume uses the same version of Camera Raw

The "Auto" button in camera raw is different from the Auto Color in Photoshop.
The Auto in Camera Raw is adjusting brightness, blacks, contrast, recovery,
The Auto Color in PS has had some revamping done to its algorithms and does a very nice job.
Both "Auto" types of adjustments are typically intended to be a starting point for further work on the image until the point you're ready for output.

  • Auto color balance

    Hello,
I'm using Photoshop CS2 on a work computer to edit and upload pictures of vehicles and I use the Auto Color Balance (Ctr+Alt+B) very often. I recently switched computers and installed the same version of Photoshop on my new one and it no longer auto adjusts the color balance, it just brings up the menu to manually adjust photos. Can anyone help me make it auto adjust again?

Yes it will use the last used settings if you use Ctrl+Alt+B, but as far as i know the color balance dialog will still open with the last used settings shown.
Ctrl+B opens the color balance dialog, but with the settings zeroed

  • How can I disable the loading of the Warp Stalibizer and Auto Color Plugins?

I'm having trouble with a project of mine.
My main project file refuses to load because Warp Stabilizer and Auto Color crash when invoked.
I believed it was a file IO problem, but when I removed the external drive where the footage was, it gave me the same errors.
So I'm hoping that disabling the plugin loadin at AFX startup will restore my ability to load the file and retrieve my comps.
    the exact error messages are:
'After Effects error: crash while invoking effects plu-gin "Warp Stabilizer".'
    and
'After Effects error: crash while invoking effects plu-gin "Auto Color".'
    and
'After Effects error: Crash in progress.Last logged message was <5540> <StateBinaryConverter> <5> solveCompleteB = 1'
Then it offers me to save a file and the resulting file has 0 KB...
Anyone can help me with this?
    thx in advance

I just moved the plugin files AutoColor.aex and Stabilizer.aex to another location temporalily.
I removed the effects references and replaced the .aex files in their previous location.
Now I can open my project just fine.

  • Auto Color – seeing exactly what it is doing?

    Hi Adobe Forum Readers,
Is there a way to see exactly what effects auto color is using to achieve its results?
If so I could manually go in and apply the effects and avoid some of the strobing etc. that auto color creates.
    Is this possible?
    Thanks,
    V.
PS I intend to try and learn some of the manual correctors better however I am color blind so auto color is helpful to me for quick fixes.

The "strobbing" in the Auto correction Effects, Color, Levels, Highlight & Shadow, seems to appear, whenever there is any change in lighting/exposure. They appear to work pretty well with a locked-down camera, with manual exposure, no change the WB and not change to lighting. However, if there is any change, then the strobbing occurs. It reminds me of the old days, with servo-apertures in early auto-exposure lenses, where when the lighting changed, even just a bit, the auto-exposure function would "seek," until it zeroed in on the aperture setting that satisfied its circuits. That "seeking" cause a strobbing, or pulsing, and was very off-putting. Auto-exposure is much better nowadays, and this is seldom seen, or at least noticed. Still, manual exposure is always better.
Not sure where one would get that "under the hood" look at Auto Color though.
Harm has a great idea in post 8, and that would be very helpful.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Auto Color Effect Issue

When I put the Auto Color effect onto a clip, it does an extremely good job of correcting colour but the movie clip (1080p from a Canon dSLR) then appears to flicker, even after rendering? Does anybody know what I need to do to correct this?
    Thanks.

Most of the "Auto" Effects suffer from what you describe. They really only work so long as everything, the exposure, the lighting, everything, is uniform for the whole Clip.
Most use one of the Color Correction Effects, and not Auto Color, Auto Levels, etc.
About the only way to get the Auto Color to function, when the Clip is not uniform, is to Razor the Clip, when there are change in lighting, or exposure, but that is tedious.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Auto Color Correction Question

Once you've used Auto Color Correction (Shft+Cntr+B) and then saved, is there any way you can undo this command to bring a photo back to its original state?  [I know ideally you should save the modified version with a different name/number, but I forgot to do this!]

If one has done a Save (and closed the Image File), instead of a Save_As, or Save_As_a_Copy, I know of no way to Undo.
One might be able to "deconstruct" the effects of the Auto Color Filter, by using other Filters/Adjustments, but it will require a lot of hand-work, time and experimentation.
I have a workflow, that keeps this from happening. Where possible, I use Adjustment Layers, so that the underlying Background Layer is not touched. In the cases, where I cannot apply the necessary adjustment/effect in an Adjustment Layer, I Duplicate (Ctrl+J)  that Background Layer, and apply the adjustment/effect to that. When done, I always Save the working PSD, with all Layers and Adjustment Layers. Actually, I always do a Save_As, so that my originals are never overwritten, but you acknowledge that you know that part now.
Maybe others will be able to help you get started with the "deconstruction," but I'd look into a Color Balance Adjustment Layer, and work with it for a bit.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
