Restoring album names to iPhoto from iPod along with photos

Ok, I know that I can restore photos to iPhoto from my iPod. The question is, will the album designations import with them? The iPod has a file called "Photo Database" which I think may contain these designations but iPhoto uses a different file type to store that data. Is there a way (perhaps a 3rd party solution) to extract the album designation info from that iPod file?

I used the autosych feature in iTunes. So, I don't have a complete backup of all the iPhoto library files but I did make sure to sych full res photos in addition to thumbnails. I don't mind losing stuff like keywords or titles as I didn't use either much at all. I'm not sure if auto-synching to the iPod updates photos that have been retouched in iPhoto since last sync, but if it doesn't it's no big deal since I only ever used red-eye redux and that was only now and then.
So, my iPod has all full-size photos in its "Full Resolution" sub-folder of the iPod's "Photos" folder along with the "Photo Database" file. Of course, the thumbnails are there in the "Thumbs" sub-folder but I doubt I need to bother with those since I have the full-size ones.

The reason i asked this question is because i have been wondering this a lot ever since i got an exchange on this ipod (and ive only had it for a few weeks now) because my last ipod had a lot of problems. so after i restored my ipod with my computer/itunes, i downloaded apps that i wanted, and then when i went to the storage to see how much storage was left, it said 0 bytes. i was freaking out because i didnt know how that could be, i mean, cause like, that is impossible when i just 'purchased' it, that the space was full but i looked and all my pictures were on this ipod and i already put them on my computer so i dont need them anymore thats why i wanna reset it now so there is nothing on it so i can have more space for stuff to do and download on it.
it is updated to iOS 8 but that happened when i purchased it, so i didnt have a choice to update it even though i didnt want to update to iOS 8...

Hey Sierra, You can do just what you have stated. My question, what is your "other"? If it is over 1.5 GB you most likely have corrupt files. Doing a Restore to New, Factory restore should correct it. Just make sure you make a full backup of all information on your iPod to your computer before you restore, so you don't lose your stuff, contacts, videos, pictures, non-iTunes music, etc, use the cable and connect with your computer. Then, via cable, connect to your computer, run the Restore to new, don't use your backup. Treat this iPod as if it was your first one ever. When restore is done, set up and add what info you wish to install on this iPod. The music apps etc you purchased should be on your computer, if not you should be able to retrieve purchased apps and music from iTunes. Any music, videos, apps not purchased from iTunes will be lost to you if you do not save them to your computer or the cloud first. When your done, make a current Backup and you should good to go. No, there is not yet a way to do that. Albums created on the iPhone cannot be synced back to the mac.
You might try other ways to send photos back to the mac in a structured way, depending on your IOS version:
You could use Journals instead of albums. If you share a Journal, you can see it on your Mac. http://support.apple.com/kb/PH3152

Find word in album name in iphoto

Is it possible to search / find an album that I created in iphoto - i.e. can I search by a word that I used in the album name?
I don't remember the date I took the photo but I remember what I called the album. I have 44,000+ photos and have organized them by albums.

That's what I have to do, except that I have about 25 folders, each with about 100 albums and it takes forever. I was just looking for an easy way to search by a word in an album title. I don't change the name of every photo so I can't search by photo name.
My albums are titled with the date then the name, so I don't think a sort would help (although I can't find how you can sort albums if you would pass that along that would be nice.)
You would think there would be a way to search for an album name?

There are separate sections for iphoto and itunes.
It has to be so complicated because Apple made TM to do too much and be too many things to too many people.. a horse designed by a committee. It has become flakey in later editions.
If you still have the iMac you can move the files directly from the source.. you don't need to use TM backups at all.

You can connect as many iPods (or iPhones and iPads) as you want to one iTunes library on one computer. They can be connected at the same time. In the iTunes sidebar, each iPod appears separately, under DEVICES. iTunes treats each one as a separate device, so you can set them up as desired.
Syncing of content generally goes one way, from computer to iPod. You cannot transfer song files from iPod to computer, except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store. However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer. If you do a Google search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.
Once the song files are on your current computer, you can add them to your iTunes library.

I wish to display an image which is stored in my database along with other contents on the page.
I am able to display the image on an entirely new page but I do not wish to display it on a new page. Neither frames etc fit on my current page design.

I have a byte stream in which i have stored the image from the database (the image is stored in databse as blob) in that jsp.When i use output stream object to display the image from the database (as suggested by many in this forum), the image is displayed in a new page. I am new to muse and may well be missing the obvious here, but I have a little problem, which until it is solved is a big road block to me.
I am trying to move a guide lower on the page and can not do that because the left ruler is moving along with the guide!
How do I lock the ruler itself, so the guide can be moved to a different position on the ruler?
Totally weird. I have tried searching "locking rulers" both in this site and in google, but got no results at all. I don't think the rulers are supposed to move in the first place, so am worried that nobody out there may have an answer to this.
So I am stuck for now & I can't finish my project unless this is solved.

I would need more details for this, as you have mentioned rulers move ? Are you referring to rulers on page in design ?
You can move a guide lower down the page , ruler marks will be displayed on ruler but that will not stop you moving the guides.
What happens if you uncheck rulers from top view options ?

Not sure if it will help but if you had registered it with Apple you could try unregistering it. To do this:
Go to: https://supportprofile.apple.com/MySupportProfile.do
Log in if not already logged in.
Click on ">" to the right of the device you want to unregister
Click "unregister"

First, try deleting the "iPod Photo Cache" folder off your computer.
Go to the "START" menu on your computer, and click on "Search". Select "All files and folders", and type "ipod photo cache" in the blank.
Delete any folder(s) that are named "iPod Photo Cache" off your computer.
After you've done that, disconnect your iPod from your computer, then reconnect it.
Do you still get that -48 error when syncing photos to your iPod, or not?

I have an iPod classic and had it connected to an HP laptop that was subsequently infected by a worm. I still have all of the music, unaffected by the worm, on the iPod. Can I easily upload files from my iPod to the empty itunes music library

Using 3rd party software there is a way (if you search on this forum you'll find it).
The point I was making about the back-up drive is that it's cheap (less than $100) to back up your entire iTunes library to an external drive just in case something like this happens.
A couple years ago I spent a lot of time importing my entire CD collection into iTunes (over 1400 CDs/24,000 songs) and my friend asked me how I was backing these up. I replied that I wasn't since I had all the original CDs. He was thinking about the lost time to restore rather than the lost songs and I realized he was right. I bought a bigger hard drive than was in my computer and now my entire iTunes library is backed up on that drive.
So, it's definitely worth it to buy an external drive for iTunes back up.
