Restoring an ical backup from 10.4 in Leopard

Hi there,
I just migrated to 10.5. Before the installation, I made created an image of my Macintosh HD on an external harddrive.
Now im trying to restore my ical events. I figured out that Leopards ical uses a different structure to save this data, so a simple copy from User/Library/Application Support/ical to User/Library/Calenders does not work.
I found this article
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306482
wich did not bring me any further..
I would be very thankful for any ideas!
Thanks in advance and greetings from germany!

Niencovich,
Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Look for folders named something like 4A1DC586-14EC-4D42-B659-BEBA31968385.calendar in the Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Application Support/iCal/Sources Folder of your external hard drive. There will be a folder like this for each one of your calendars, but they will have different alpha numeric names on your computer than the example which I just gave you.
Open these folders and you will find the corestorage.ics files containing your calendars. Each of these folders will have an info.plist file which when opened with a text editor application will reveal which calendar (corestorage.ics) is represented by that folder.
Use iCal to import the appropriate corestorage.ics file by using the iCal>File>Import... menu command to navigate to and import the corestorage.ics file for each desired calendar.

Most likely you have Office 2004 which are PPC-only applications and will not work in Lion. Upgrade to Office 2011. Other alternatives are:
Apple's iWork suite (Pages, Numbers, and Keynote.)
Open Office (Office 2007-like suite compatible with OS X.)
    NeoOffice (similar to Open Office.)
LibreOffice (a new direction for the Open Office suite.)

  • HOW CAN I RESTORE MY ITUNES BACKUP FROM MY MAC BOOK TO MY DESKTOP MAC?

HOW CAN I RESTORE MY ITUNES IPHONE BACKUP FROM MY MAC BOOK TO MY DESKTOP MAC? THE REASON IS BECAUSE I HAVE TEXTFREE TEXT MESSAGES THAT I NEED FOR MY ATTORNEY AND WHEN I RESTORE IT FROM MY MACBOOK IT DOESNT INSTALL THE TEXTFREE BECAUSE I HAD DELETED ALL MY APPS IN ITUNES FROM IT. I HAVE ALL THE APPS ON MY DESKTOP MAC BUT I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO EXTRACT ONLY THE BACKUPS FROM THE MACBOOK AND IMPORT TO MY MAC DESKTOP. THE DESKTOP MAC IS THE ONE THAT HAS ALL OF MY LATEST BACKUPS. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP IF YOU KNOW THE ANSWER. THANKYOU

Easy. Copy it from the old Mac to the new one.
There are a variety of techniques including Setup Assistant (as soon as you get your new MacBook Air, it will ask you if you want to transfer information from another computer), Migration Assistant (if you elect to transfer information later), enabling file sharing between the two computers, or copying your music to a flash drive or other storage device followed by importing it to iTunes.
iTunes: How to move your music from one computer to another
Once your music library and everything else you want to transfer from the MacBook Pro resides on the new MBA, sync your iPod to the MBA. Sync the iPhone too when you get it, and they will both have identical iTunes music libraries.

  • How can I restore an old backup from iTunes?

I would like to restore a backup from yesterday. The most current backup was today because it is set on auto backup. When I select 'Restore Backup', the only option I get is the file from this morning.
I have already located the file I want to restore and saved it to my desktop. How do I select that file in iTunes when I try to back up?
    Thanks.
    Deborah

Open iTunes then click on iTunes (in the upper left corner) > Preferences... > Devices

  • Restoring iPhone 6 backup from iTunes - 12.1.2.27, 64-bit

Yesterday I backed up my iPhone to iTunes.  Because I had restored from Verizon Cloud only 8 of my Contacts were showing!
Today I restored the iTunes backup and my full Contacts were visible...  for SECONDS!  They all showed then the screen blinked and the previous 8 were back!
How can I stop this from happening???

Sounds like the contacts were deleted after that backup.
    Restore from the same backup.
    As fast as you can
Use the control center, swipe up from the bottom of the screen,
    Turn on Airplane mode
    Next
    Settings > iCloud,
Turn off contacts, save them to the iPhone, if asked.
    Turn off Airplane mode
Turn on the contacts, if asked Merge them.
    Best of Luck

  • Can I restore an iPhone backup from a Mac in a Windows PC?

I have copied the files from Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup from my Mac to a USB stick and I have to use these backup files on a Windows PC.
Will these files from an iTunes for Mac work on an iTunes for Windows?
    Thanks,
    Rafael

You can restore the backups to a device running the same or a newer iOS version, but not an older one. For example, if a backup was made from iOS 8.2, it can be restored to a device running 8.2 or 8.3, but not 8.1.3 or earlier.

  • I accidentally restored the wrong backup (from a year ago as opposed to a day ago) how do I restore the correct one?

So I had my macbook fixed and when I restored from my time machine there were two options and I accidentally clicked the wrong one which restored it to my settings from a year ago. I know I have the backup from a few days ago on my external hard drive but when I go into time machine and click restore it says there is not enough free space available. I think that is because it is trying to restore the new backup on top of the old settings. Is there a way to erase my computer and restore the new backup? I know you can do that with the CD but I don't have it and I'd prefer not to have to go back all the way to the apple store to get them to do it there. Any help would be appreciated!

  • Can I restore time machine backup from Panther 10.3.9 to Lion 10.7?

    Hi,
I would like to upgrade my old mac running Panther 10.3.9 to a new Mac running Lion before it fails on me.
Can I simply restore a Time Machine backup from Panther to Lion? Will my applications come across and function normally?
Let me know if you need any specific names of apps.

No your applications will not run on an Intel Mac running Lion.  Macs running Panther 10.3.9 were PPC processors.  Lion has no support for these old Applications  Leopard and Snow Leopard supported some old PPC Applications using Rosetta

  • Restoring Time Machine backup from different computer

Last night my iMac hard drive crashed. I couldn't retreive any data as the Hard Disk was just not reading anything. I have since then reformatted the disk and have reloaded the OS.
Since the iMac is used primarily for home I don't backup the files on it. Most of my work is on my Macbook pro and I would like to keep the iMac like a mirror image of the Macbook.  I am trying to restore a backup from my Mackbook Pro but there seems to be some problem.
I tried 'Browse other Time Machine' last night but after leaving the machine to restore the files overnight I have woken to find that nothing has been restored. Now I am trying to restore just the 'Users" and it's been 1 hour or so and all I am getting is 'Zero KB of 81.5gb - Estimating time remaining'.
What am I doing wrong? Why isn't any data transfering to my iMac? I ran the disk utility to check my disk and it was fine.

  • Can I restore an iCloud backup from a different iOs version?

I have like all these backups from previous iPhones. My question is: Can I restore a backup of these on any iOS version or do I need to have the same iOS version that i had on those iPhones?

You can restore the backups to a device running the same or a newer iOS version, but not an older one. For example, if a backup was made from iOS 8.2, it can be restored to a device running 8.2 or 8.3, but not 8.1.3 or earlier.

  • HT1766 How long should it take to restore new iPhone backup from iCloud?

How long should it take to restore new 4s iPhone backup from iCloud?

That depends mostly on your Internet connection download speed, and how much data you have on the phone. It could take anything from a few minutes to several days. There is no "one size fits all" answer.

  • Restoring a CSACS Backup from ACS SE to ACS Windows

It is possible to take a backup from CSACS running on a Solution Engine (FTP'd off-box by the backup process) and restore it to a CSACS on Windows (assuming the ACS software, build, and patch level is same?

    Hi,
Yes, if the version is the same you can import the .dmp file into the ACS Windows machine.
Of course, some menus will not exist (the ones specific to SE).

  • My new iPad has the wrong iCloud account (restored an old backup from previous iPad). It's pointing to an account that no longer exists and now I can't delete it because I can't log into it. Find my iPhone wants me to log in before deleting the account.

I have an old iPad2, and received a new iPad Air. When I set up the iPad Air, I started as a backup from the iPad2, instead of treating it as a new iPad setup. It also asked if I wanted to set up Find My iPhone and I said yes. Problem is that I also (previously) changed the primary email address on my iCloud account, but never changed the iCloud setup on my iPad. So now the iPad Air has iCloud pointing to the email address as the account name. I want to just delete this account and enter the new email, but Find My iPhone won't let me - it asks for my password first. Problem is, it won't accept the correct password because the primary email has changed.

If the old ID is yours, and if your current ID was created by editing the details of this old ID (rather than being an entirely new ID), go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.
