Restoring an IPod in itunes 6.05
Unfortunately I have a really old computer hooked up to the internet right now, so I can't download the newest version of itunes because I don't have service pack 2 installed. My laptop can handle the newest itunes but it's not connected to the internet so I can't restore my 5th gen 30GB on there either. Does anyone have any suggestions? I've been trying to find the restore function in itunes 6 for a while and still haven't found it. Does anyone know which was the last version of itunes that didn't need service pack 2?
Thanks everybody!
Got any friends running itunes? Just restore it on a friend's PC.
The itunes wiki doesn't mention XP service packs

Everytime I try and restore my ipod on itunes it says error 2003, what do i do?
everytim i try and restore my ipod on itunes, it tells me error 2003, ive had this ipod for over a year now ad this has ever happen.
i have no clue how to fix it
any suggestions?Error 2000-2009 (2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2009, and so on): If you experience this issue on a Mac, disconnect third-party devices, hubs, spare cables, displays, reset the SMC, and then try to restore. If you are using a Windows computer, remove all USB devices and spare cables other than your keyboard, mouse, and the device, restart the computer, and try to restore. If that does not resolve the issue, try the USB issue-resolution steps and articles listed for Error 1604 above. If the issue persists, it may be related to conflicting security software.

Is there any way to restore my iPod if iTunes won't recognize it?
I bought my husband a 30 gig ipod for Christmas and gave it to him early. Last night I bought and installed a video converter so that he could watch movies on the ipod. This morning when he updated the device with a new video and tried to play it, the screen turned green with little black squares. Itunes does not recognize that the ipod is connected to the computer and I can't turn the ipod off. Is there any way to restore the ipod if Itunes won't recognize it?
Try this, hold the middle button and the menu button for 10 seconds while it is plugged into the computer. See if it will come back to life. You may have to try this several times. Give it a try.

Public DNS — Google Developers
OpenDNS IP Addresses

I've tryied to restore my iPod using iTunes 7
Hi everyone!
I've been experiencing some troubles with my 4th generation Ipod for last week. So i desided restore it.
I installed the last version of iTunes(7.02), clicked Restore, and after all I saw a message, that I shoud disconect Ipod and connect it again. I did it. But there is no response. There is a picture on my Ipod screen where a power adapter is drawn. But I haven't any adapter. I just have got an USB cable and that all!!!!
What I should do????
As I undertood my Ipod needs an external power adapter. But it's 4th generation, it's doesn't need nothing except an usb cable and a computer... Am I wrong????When updating or restoring some iPods via a usb connection, it needs to be plugged into power via the charger to complete the process, and this is why you see that icon displayed. It's also why older iPods that required this step were supplied with a power adaptor as standard. My 4th gen came with a power adaptor.
You may be able to complete the process via a car charger, or via a powered firewire port on the computer (with the required 6 pin cable of course) if you have access to either of those. Or maybe visit an Apple store if one is nearby.
Or you can try this.

Other than that, your iPod cannot be used until you complete this process. -
How can I restore my iPod when iTunes fails?
Ok, so based on my previous question, I bought an iPod and put a new account on it. Then, it went into recovery mode, and I have tried restoring it, but every time I use iTunes, it gets an error saying it lost connection to the host. It's done this about 30 times, and I am getting extremely close to just breaking the thing. Any help?
PLEASE HELP ME I NEED HELP!!!!! UGGGHHH

How do i restore my ipod if iTunes wont register that i have my iPod plugged in?
im trying to get my ipod to actually work and someone recommended that I restore.
Did you try to put it in recovery mode as explained in the article? You may have to try a couple of times until the "connect to iTunes screen" shows up and your device shows up in iTunes.

iPod shuffle 3rd generation is corrupt can not restore through itunes
What does the error message say, precisely? Are you saying doing the Restore causes the error message, or are you attempting the Restore BECAUSE of an "it is corrupted" error message when the shuffle is connected?
After attempting the Restore, does the shuffle still appear in iTunes? -
heeeeeellllp
First make sure your iTunes is updated to the latest version.
If still no luck, see the section below from this Apple support document. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3694#error3194
This device is not eligible for the requested build: Also sometimes displayed as an error 3194. If you receive this error, update to the latest version of iTunes. 3rd party security software or router security settings can also cause this issue, to resolve please follow Troubleshooting security software issues. Downgrading to a previous version of iOS is not supported. If you have installed software to perform unauthorized modifications to your iOS device, that software may have redirected connections to the update server (gs.apple.com) within the Hosts file. For steps to edit the Hosts file and allow iTunes to communicate with the update server, see iTunes: Troubleshooting iTunes Store on your computer, iPhone, iPad, or iPod; follow steps under the heading Blocked by configuration (Mac OS X / Windows) > Rebuild network information > The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store. Also, using an older or modified .ipsw file can cause this error. Try restoring moving the current .ipsw file aside, or try restoring in a new user to ensure that iTunes downloads a new .ipsw.

Problem restoring my ipod. Itunes does not recognize ipod in recovery mode
The other day i decided to update the software of my Ipod touch to the latest version. The download went smoothly, later on while installing the new software an error message appear and the instalation was not completed.
Now my ipod is like a NEW ipod with the USB cable and the ITUNES logo on the screen. I tried restoring it but an error message appear 'error 1601'.
RIGHT NOW my computer and my itunes does not recognize my ipod. I think the ipod is in recovery mode.
PS: I already uninstall and install itunes.
Thanks in advance. I'm freaking out!!Already done that. The USB port is 2.0 and is on the back of my computer and i am not using any dock or external hubs. The cable i am using is the one that came with my ipod when i bought it.
I connected the cable to ALL the USB ports just in case the one i was using was not working properly but the error continued. I also check that the USB ports are not protected (meaning the USB port is blocked and recognizes the ipod as a virus). I also deactivated the firewall just in case it was blocking itunes or the apple mobile device support.
I've done everything and i am freaking out!! Please help meeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!! thanks anyway lllaass -
TS1717 Restore my ipod? ITUNES WON'T EVEN LET ME SEE THE SUMMARY.
I have been going over my ipod touch for the past 5 hours: it was quite simple, i needed to reset my ipod to factory settings so connected my ipod, reset the settings and plugged it back into itunes.
Now for the past 3 hours, everytime i connect my ipod, itunes recognises that it is in, but only lets me see the 'Sync with itunes so you can listen to music, add apps and other media' whilst showing pointless arrows and texts telling me how to do so - my problem? EVERYTIME I CLICK ON A ******* BUTTON INCLUDING SUMMARY NOTHING HAPPENS.
I've tried everything but without even being able to look at the summary of my ipod, i can't even restore it back!
PLEASE SOMEONE HEP ME BEFORE I CAUSE A ******* RIOT.Do you see any button that allows you to 'agree' or ' get started' or something?
Keep calm and reboot your computer. If that doesn't help, remove itunes and its components using

I cant restore my ipod with itunes, is there any other way?
help
Are you using a iPod Touch?
What iOS are you using on your iPod?
If you are using an iPod touch and iOS 5.0 or later you can restore from an iCloud backup
Hopefully you have been backing up to iCloud
You can restore with your iPod by going to settings>general>reset>erase all content and settings and if connected to wi-fi can restore from a iCloud backup
