Restoring And Recognition Trouble

So i have a fourth generation ipod on my hands. Now when i turn it on it shows the apple sign, then the stupid folder exclamation thing. the problem is, apple is stupid with its FAQ stuff and it doesnt help. It says to restore, but the problem is, when i connect to the computer, it doesnt recognize it as an ipod. Then when i go to the updater, it says "Ipod Internal Manager Error". Now i dont know what the f**k that means or what to do. If you could help, it would be great. Thanks
4th Generation iPod   Windows XP

you can tell what ipod updater version you have by the date in the name of the updater. the most recent version is 2006-06-28. it contains all the latest versions of software for the 4th generation models.
to check what version of itunes you have, go "help > about itunes" and wait for the version number to scroll up from the bottom of the screen. for example, mine says "itunes 6.0.5.20". (that's the latest version.)

  • Old 5th gen video restoring and recognition problem

Briefly - 5th gen video colour screen 80gb ipod got soaked, died. Tried reviving today (over a year later) and found I could get to disk mode (after whacking it one on it's side - who knew?). Okay, tried restoring it through itunes who then gave me 1429 error message.  I tried the various options for that error message until I got to  restart your computer...now, although I can get the ipod into disk mode it is not being recognised by itunes.  It appears in system information but nothing of any use is happening now, excepting it is 'alive' in disk mode and making a less clicky 'scratchy' sound and showing the battery being charged.  Any advice? Help?

No more thoughts from anyone on the above??

If no change after restoring the iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from the backup, there is a hardware problem.

  • Ipod dumps entire content and must be restored and synced each time.

Second Generation iPod Nano. iTunes on Dell XPS410, Windows Vista.
Battery depleted. Plugged Nano into computer. Got a "may be corrupted screen; try restoring"♦Computer recognizes Nano; I restore and screen confirms successful restoration and tells me to sync. Sync takes place and completes successfully however my Library for the Nano device shows in "graytone" and cannot be accessed. I eject the Nano; unplug it from the computer and it works fine. Once I again plug it into the computer, everything dumps out of the Nano and I have to start the Restore/Sync process all over again. Each time the Nano is unplugged and replugged to the computer iTunes it dumps its entire content!
    Would most appreciate any suggestions!

I have tried connecting the ipod via the front and back USb 2.0 jacks on my desktop. I have only one external drive connected to the computer. Doesn't matter whether I remove it or not, the same problem occurs. I do not have a network. My drive letter for the ipod is letter z so it is not disk recognition which is a problem. 1/3 of my music comes from I-tunes, the rest I rip from my Cd's (like Linkin Park, Slipknot, Dir en grey). I only used about 650 MB worth of the ipods 30 gig drive capacity. Doesn't matter which version of the itunes software I use, it gives me the same problem. The recovery loop occured after just after 2 weeks of purchasing it from the apple storeand I took it back with only 12 songs in it. The restored it and 10 days later, the same problem occured. Recently, the ipod has been entering the recovery mode much more frequently prompting me to believe the hard drive is malfunctioning.
I have scanned my computer and the Ipod with everything from Norton, AVG, McCafee, and trendmicro and found no viruses, bugs, worms, etc.
Any suggestions to help me resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Ice

  • IPHONE 3G STUCK ON RESTORE AND UPDATE AFTER 4.2 UPDATE FAILED HALFWAY THRU

I plugged my iPhone 3g in to iTunes and a new update was available for it (update version 4.2). So I downloaded it and started the update, and it got to the very last step and it quit and a pop out came saying "The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored or updated. An error occurred (37)." And now it the iPhone won't even turn on unless its plugged in and even when it's plugged in it only shows the screen that says to plug into to iTunes, which just keeps repeating "iPhone is in recovery mode, needs to be retored to be used". And I have already done EVERY SINGLE TROUBLE SHOOTING STEPS REPEATEDLY. Nothing seems to work, if there is anyone that can help I would appreciate more than anything, this is my sisters iPhone, I was just borrowing it, now I broke it haha, I could really use someones help.
I also have an iPod Touch 2g from a year or two back that had the same problem but it was completely black no matter what, holding the home and power button or anything wouldnt work. But it still says its connected but is doing the same thing as the iPhone, it won't restore, it quits right at the end and says the same error message.

Your antivirus or firewall is blocking the update.
"Error 20, 21, 34, 37: These errors typically occur when security software interferes with the restore and update process. If you are using a PC, follow this article to resolve this issue."

  • Photoshop Elements 10 hung up at Restoring people recognition 2%

    Hello
I just buy Photoshop Elements 10. after install, I could not open Organizer because it is hung up at "Restoring People Recognition 2%"
    Please help. Thank you

Hold down the shift button when you open Elements Organizer. Try to create a new catalog and see if it launches the organizer. If it does go to "edit" menu then preferences.Under preferences you have an option to select media-analysis, click it and uncheck the option for "analyze photos for people automatically". Click OK the close the organizer. Hold down the shift key again to launch the catalog manager then select the original catalog that could not be opened then click open. Hopefully you can open organizer now.

  • I've tried restoring and it still won't sync

I recently bought a used iPod nano. I've restored it to factory settings several times but I'm still having trouble with it. Sometimes it will sync to Itunes but only get 3 songs and then will give me an error message that says the file is corrupted. The last time I restored and tried to sync it I got a message that said it couldn't sync the iPod because it could find the file. HELP!!!!!

    Not Charge
    - See:

iPhone and iPod touch: Charging the battery
    - Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • Start up Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 - why does it stall at "restoring people recognition data" 42%

I just downloaded and installed Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 & Adobe Premiere Elements 11 (Windows,English). When it starts up it stalls at the dialogue box "restoring people recognition data" 42%.
I have to close the program then the whole thing happens again.
Pretty frustrating for $150............... to upgrade from Elements 8

This seens to be a problem of Media Analysis which generally arises if there are too many/too large assets in your catalog.
    Just try the following steps:-
    1. Go to Edit->Preferences->Media Analysis
2  Go to People Recognition options
    3. Uncheck the "Analyse Photo for People recognition".
    4. Press "OK"

    Hello Harrywahi,
Sorry to hear about the trouble you are having with your unresponsive iPod classic.  I found a resource that I think would help in a situation like this.
I recommend following the steps in this troubleshooting assistant:

  • Restoring People Recognition hangs PSE12

I upgraded my computer from XP to Windows 7 and installed all the updates for Windows 7 before installing PSE12.
After installing PSE12, I converted my PSE8 organizer catalog to PSE12.  I had to rename the catalog since the default name was already used.  The conversion worked fine and the photos showed up in the browser.
However, a process started called "restoring people recognition". I only used face matching a few times in PSE8 and don't really want to use it in PSE12.  Anyway  the process  showed 9% completion and stops and PSE12 organizer is unresponsive.  At this point I cannot use the organizer since it gets hung on the "restoring people ..." process even after rebooting.  Also, I looked for a process to kill in the task manager but was only able to kill the entire PSE12 organizer.  Any suggestions?

  • 'Restoring People Recognition Data' hung up

Have installed new Elements 9 and Premiere 9.
All works well, except can't get into organizer without hanging up on this
message, 'Restoring People Recognition Data'.  It shows 2% progress and just hangs there.
I have to close out of program to do anything.
    Please help.
    Thank you,
    Mark Choate

here I am one year later than others on this thread and I am having the same problem moving to PSE 11 after installing it on a new machine.  I backuped up the PSE 8 catalog on my old machine (onto a removable USB terabyte drive that includes both the photos and backup).  I moved the drive to the new machine.  I restored to new location  (also on the terabyte drive, but not the same place as the backup or the photos).
Hours later, it hungs up on "restoring people recognition".  The only difference is that my percent is 3% not 2%.  :-(
I killed it and tried to open PSE.  It stops at the same place.
    As it says on
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4083141
I tried open with shift to create a new catalog and after creating a small other empty catalog
I unchecked properties | Media-Analysis | Analyze Photos for People Automatically.
    I closed everything
Reopened with shift held down.  It asks to pick a catalog.  I switch to the big restored one and I get the same hang on restoring people recognition.
So, this did nothing to change the behavior, so I can not used PSE 11 yet.

  • Restoring People Recognition Data issue

upgraded from elements 8 to 11 and Organizer keeps hanging. says "Restoring people recognition data"  stays at 20% and never moves.  Tried several times.  Tried holding Shift, but not dice.

  • Adobe flash 11 is slowing pc and having trouble getting on ie9

I had to uninstall it to get back to normal...on the adobe flash forum many others are having the same issue...is anyone else here getting the same trouble?

Hello to all those who are having issues with Adobe readers/ flashplayers on any Internet Explorer versions. Especially after an update or upgraded aversion.  After an up grade or update you need to go and enable it again this also aplies to Real Player as well.   First thing is to do is check services. Go to All Programs search box type in Services open it. Now go down list and find Adobe Acrobat settings should be: Startup Type manually and Adobe Flash Playe...  Startup Type.  Real Player is not listed in Services .
Now open up your Internet Explorer right click on tools and then select Internet options then click on Advanced tab top row. Go down list and put a check mark Enable third - part browser extension  clock ok. Then right click tools then select Manage add-on. Then select  Toolbars and Extension  Adobe PDF Link enable it undre status For Real Player enable it also. For early version of Internet Explorer 8 and below Adobe Flash player will be listed as well enable it. For some reason when they are updated or upgraded they will not enable them selves. You must do it manually . Or do a back restore  and never update it again. These direction have resolved this issue before in previous forum post. Please click on Kudos if this resolves your issue. Thank you frrw.
