Okay, so me and my friends were messing around with my other frien's ipad and we locked the ipad too many times to the point where it said "connect to itunes." we eventually figured out how to get it back to factory settings but now all his apps and EVERYTHING is lost. He never backed his ipad up into itunes, which is another problem. Now we don't know how to get the apps back restore all his games and high scores.
PLEASE HELP!!!!

Can't install itunes on XP after factory recovery

hi everybody,
This is a bizarre issue that became a problem. on a t500 after a xp factory recovery, update OS, install normal app, office, qbooks, etc.. I download iTunes 8 last version, double click to install and the first weird sign was a message to run but said “unknown publisher “ after click run, nothing happens. It won’t do anything. It won’t log anything on system or app logs. User has admin local priv, I tried install on local comp, safe mode, different local user, domain admin. Nothing. Last thing I tried was download iTunes version 7 and it did install, but I need the 8 because prior library setup.
Does anybody have a clue?? Is driving me crazy.

Have you tried the in place upgrade functionality of itunes?Make sure that you select only itunes from the "available updates " list.
Otherwise it will also install safari

After factory recovery HDD is only partly recognized

Hi,
Could someone please help?
After a full factory recovery my Pavilion dv7 netbook does not recognizes its HDD well. It shows the hdd's size is only 92GB instead of 931GB. Check shows everything is Ok. Attached a screenshot below. Any idea why is that and how to fix it?

it might be worth checking to see if the ipoddriver.kext has gone skunky on your Mac. for some more info about the symptoms of that, see:

Windows Update 80072EE2 after Factory recovery

Hello everyone!
I just did a complete factory recovery on a Lenovo 3000 K100, with Windows Vista Home Premium 32bits.
The recovery was successeful. (I used the Recovery partition that came from the Lenovo)
The device manager has nothing wrong.
But when I try to do a Windows Update, I have the error 80072EE2
Installed Microsoft Security Essentials, and when triyng to update it, the update fail, telling me that the connection timed out. (please note that I was able to download it online)
I can surf on the web, go on different websites, but when I go to Microsoft website, it takes time before the webpage loads sometime!
Some people said that I should remove the UseWUServer (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU) from my registery, but this key is missing in my registery. I cannot find it.
So, tried other fixes suggested in forums, like reset my internet settings (but it's a fresh windows install)
Tried in cmd "net stop wuauserv" and then "start" ... the service is running normally...
In services, Windows Update is on Automatic (Delayed) Running. (I even changed it to Automatic)
I renamed the Hosts file, and flushed the DNS. The Hosts file should be generated automatically after being removed.
There is no Third party Firewall. The only antivirus installed, is Microsoft Security Essentials.
There is no softwares installed after the Factory Recovery.
I tried to ping www.google.com, and there is 25% loss, with a connection timed out, after two responses.
There is a 100% loss when I ping microsoft.com, with a connection timed out.
I tried to disable WIndows FIrewall, but doesn't solve the problem.
I reset Internet explorer settings again... Nothing is solved.
There is no PROXY in the LAN Settings, of Internet explorer...
Uninstalled the Network drivers (in device manager), and reinstalled them... problem not solved...
So, does anyone have an idea? I'm out of solutions...
What's weird is that it's a Fresh Factory recovery, it should be free of issues... ??

Local disk disappeared after factory recovery running

Hi! I was trying to run Factory Recovery utility on my W510, and after getting a message that no more than one copy of recovery set can be created (which is true - i already created one set a while ago), one of my local disks "disappeared". I still can see my System disk (C, but can't see or open my local disk (D. Did anyone had such problem before? Thank you!

Restoring Apps after restoring iPod Touch

I recently restored my wife's iPod Touch and when I hooked it back up to her laptop iTunes kept asking me to purchase the January update. I kept telling it no seeing as we had already purchased the update along with the apps back in January. I read on the forum how it should be restored using the computer that the Touch was first synched to. This solved the problem seeing as how I was using the newest laptop to do the restore. The problem is that her original laptop is close to failing which means at some point I won't be able to restore the apps if the need arises again. Is there some way to transfer the January update files and apps over to her new computer so that next time I should be able to do a restore without having to use the original laptop?

The iPod touch January Software Upgrade can only be synced to iPod touch from the primary iTunes library. If the user is manually managing music and video on iPod, this is the computer where they first set up the iPod or first set it up after restoring the iPod. The "iPod touch App Pack 4A93.ipa" file can be copied from the computer where you purchased it to your primary iTunes library computer, and sync the iPod from there.

Once you have copied the "iPod touch App Pack 4A93.ipa" file to the computer with your home library, make a new folder named Mobile Applications in the correct location, and place the "iPod touch App Pack 4A93.ipa" file there. Open iTunes and sync your iPod touch.

Satellite M105 Won't load Windows desktop after factory recovery

Sorry this is a long post but I have to explain my situation. I have a Satellite M105 that I purchased in the exchange on a US Military base in Germany in August 2008. The laptop was an open box system that the store employee said had been sent in for repair. I was told it came with the full factory warranty. I had the sales person start the laptop just to make sure it worked and the laptop booted to the Windows XP initial setup screen. I took the laptop home and put it away as I wanted to save it as a gift for a family member. A few days before I was going to pack the gift laptop up to mail it, I decided to try it out. I powered the laptop up and went through the Windows XP setup sequence to agree to the EULA and set up automatic updates. When the setup was completed the laptop restarted and started to load XP. Before the desktop loaded a BSOD flashed momentarily and the computer restarted. Now every time I attempt to start the laptop I get a Windows message "The system was not fully installed. Please run setup again." I returned the laptop to the store and they sent it in for repair under warranty in April 2009. I got the laptop back on Oct 5 2009 with a letter that stated the laptop was not under warranty and the hard drive was defective and the repair cost would be 140Euro (approx $210). When I purchased the laptop I was told the laptop had been sent in for a "start up " problem but it had been repaired and fully tested. I replaced the hard drive today and used the recovery disks to restore the system but guess what. I got the same error message with the new hard drive. I suspect the laptop had a defective motherboard all along but the Toshiba Authorized Repair Center doesn't want to admit they never fixed it correctly the first time. Anyone here have any suggestions?

Your story is pretty confusing. It is full of different information but we dont know which operating system do you use and has your notebook factory settings or not.
Is there some reason why your notebook acts so strange? Have you done anything that can be responsible for this? Can you start OS or not.

Sorry but I dont know how to understand all this and start with discussion.
Missing F8 option is also very confusing.
Try please to set BIOS to default settings and try to start OS again.

Pavilion dv6 wont start after factory recovery.

I made factory reset using HP recovery manager ( try both: clean copy or factory default copy with software), and the process finish ok. But after restart windows cant start and stuck on windows logo, if I try safe mode, it stops at message: "You cannot finish the instalation in safe mode restart the PC and finish the installation" . It seems that the "first time use" installation process is corrupted. The HDD and memory tests finish without error. Also tried the Hard reset (Unplug the AC remove the battery and hold power on for 30 sec.) but did not help.

I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion dv6-6155ec Entertainment Notebook PC and issues getting past the HP Logo screen and then going into a loop.
Please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices, as these could cause some issues.
Here is a link on computer does not start, which has a section for the HP Logo screen.
You could reset the BIOS with this document selecting the reloading the BIOS default settings.

Restore iTunes after data recovery

I accidentally partitioned my external HD that contained all of my iTunes content (songs, movies, etc.). I was able to recover all the data fortunately using VirtualLabs Recovery. I didn't lose my library.xml file, either.
How do now I restore my library so that iTunes knows where to find the music again (I updated that setting in Preferences), and actually find the music? Right now all of my iTunes items have the exclamation mark next to them because it thinks they are missing. I have tried locating individual items to see what happens. Some stuff I'm able to find, others I'm not even when I use Spotlight.
Is there a script or tool I can use that will revise the locations of all my files? If some of the files truly bit the dust, at least I'll know which ones they were and can manually restore them from other sources.
Can do I a mass find-and-replace in the library.xml file to update the path for where all the songs are? The folder structure of the recovered iTunes database remains the same. That is, I have the "Keep iTunes Media folder organized" option turned on (checked).

But it only works with Operating System: Windows Vista / XP / 2003 / 2000 / 9X and this is the iTunes for Mac Forum

OK, sounds like none of your apps are in iTunes yet. What you need to do is go to the iTunes store in the left hand column then go to the App store at the top of the page under the little apple icon, then go to the right hand side of this page and look for the link called "purchased". Click this link and then choose the button in the lower right hand corner called "downlad all". After you have all your apps downloaded to iTunes, you should be able to sync them to your phone again.

I have an IPad2 with 4.3.5 and due to some of the newer apps I was forced to upgrade to the newer 6.1.3
before i updated the IOS i backed up with the itune to my laptop.
i than installed the new ISO, when it is finished it acted as it is a new IPad there were none of my old apps. my pics did move over.
I than clicked on restore under the backups and it took about 8mins and when it finished I still had nothing on my Ipad??
is there is a way to restore my old apps or i have to redownload everything due to the newer IOS?

Is this how you restore from iTune Backup?
1. Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings
2. You'll be asked twice to confirm
3. You'll see Apple logo and progress bar
4. You'll see a big iPad logo on screen
5. Configuration start
6. Set language
7. Set country
8. Select Network and input Password>Join
9. Enable Location Service>Next
10. You'll be given 3 options (a) Setup as New iPad (b) Restore from iCloud Backup (c) Restore from iTune Backup
11. Select Restore from iTune Backup
12. You will see picture of USB cable pointing towards iPad
13. Connect iPad to iTune (make sure iTune is on standby)
14. Tap Continue (computer)
15. Restore iPad from Backup (computer)
16. See progress bar with estimated time (computer)
17. See Restore in Progress on iPad
18. See Apple logo
19. See Apple and Progress Bar
20. Slide to Unlock
21. Copying Apps back to iPad (computer)
22. You'll see Loading/Installing/Waiting below the Apps (iPad)
23. Sync Music/Podcast/Movies to iPad (computer)

Pretty sure this thread was about text messaging and picture messaging.
I'd try deleting the email account and re-adding again, if that doesn't work try restoring from a backup.

Hummmm, if that's the case then it kinda sucks! I think Symbian documentation should clarify the operation more clearly and developers should have the backup capability encoded in their apps as well .... but again maybe they think .... Na! who cares?! people are changing phones, mem. cards, and apps. every couple/few months/weeks/days anyway.
