Restoring Backed up mail settings, mails, & attachments.
Hi,
I've just bought my MBA to upgrade from my 5 year old MacBook.
I have copied the MAIL folders from my MB to an external HDD, and am trying to restore, have my MAIL read and recognize the folders as per my MAIL back in my MB.
What I mean is to have my MAIL app on my MBA to recognize and read all my old emails, folders, and attachments as with in my old MB.

If you copied the right folders from your Library / Mail folder, then I'd suggest you first set up Mail on your new MBA (if necessary look at screenshots of old account settings if you need to enter anything). Then quit Mail. Open the User/Library/Mail folder and see which new folders (empty) were created during setup. Open your copied old folders. If you have an inbox folder in both locations, delete the new one and replace it with the old one, etc, etc. If you have added your own folders (old), place the entire folder hierarchy into the new Mail folder. When done, open Mail - it should work.

Windows can not identify that an iOS device is in recovery mode. Only iTunes can identify that.

I plugged in my ipod to my computer and I had the option to sync the new software and I did. Just as it was done itunes couldn't recognize my ipod and my only choice would be to restore back to store settings but I would loose ALL my data
Yes, you probably will but then you simply load your backup.

To minimise loss... Connect to iTunes on the computer you Usually Sync with and Restore from the most recent Backup...

Brand new iPhone 4 (unlocked), got it activated yesterday, and speakers doesn't work, did restore back to factory settings, not luck, any suggestions. This iPhone was purchased in US, currently in India, will Apple support in India?
There are many threads on this forum regarding speaker not working issues. You might try searching them. Hopefully you'll find the answer you need.
BTW, the iPhone only has ONE speaker. -
Hi I keep getting error 4005 when I attemp to restore my Ipad. Had to restore back to factory settings as my daughter changed password, forgot and I did not back up my ipad to icloud. Help will be appreciated. Kevin

If you do "Erase All Content and Settings" then yes it would delete Photos.
If you do "Reset All Settings" it should not.
Having said that, I operate under the assumption that my photos and contacts (the two things I care about on my phone) can be lost at any time due to a variety of causes such as a lost phone or a hardware problem (things break) or a software glitch. I therefore insure that in addition to a backup to iCloud, photos are copied to a computer as described in http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4083 and that my contacts are synced to a computer via iCloud. -
IPod Mini won't restore back to factory settings
I have a iPod Mini and ever since I downloaded iTunes 7 I've had a few problems.
The new iTunes won't let me restore my settings. When I try to do it I get an error message that says the iPod couldn't be restored "An unknown error occurred (1428)."
Another problem is that I have no songs/podcasts on my Mini but it says I only have 16.1 MB of free space. I've already re-stalled iTunes and resetted the iPod itself.
Nothing seems to work.
Anybody know how to solve this problem?I bought my ipod mini off of ebay and it only came with the ipod, no software or connectors. I bought the connectors seperately. My issue is this: when connecting to my computer I cannot find the songs off of the mini. nor can i figure out what the itunes purpose is. I am unable to find the mini on the itunes layout anywhere.

What error do you receive when trying to activate?
Are you using the same Carrier as your friend, or a different one?
If different Carrier, are you certain the iPhone is unlocked? A locked device will of course prevent you from using SIM cards not from the Original Carrier that the device was locked too. -
Gone back to factory settings and now sim card not recognised

Sounds like you bought a hacked/jailbroken phone that was either re-locked to the original carrier or damaged to the point that it will no longer recognize any SIM when you restored it.

I cannot open mail attachments on my iPhone 4S. I have reset 3 times and actually lost Bluetooth once, but at least that's back on now.
Try to set it up as new device, explained here:

First without using the backup, in case it contains corrupt data.
If it works after that, use the backup to restore from. -

I updated my ipad3 to iOS 7 last month. First thing I noticed is I can't continuously open yahoo mail attachments in the form of PDFs like I used to do. Just recently I installed iOS 7.0.6 in the hope that it will resolve this issue. I also deleted the "attachments.me" app thinking this may solve the problem. But my problem worsened as I discovered that I cannot also open ".doc" or word files. I have tried restoring my ipad last night but an error occurred during installation.
I can open the .doc or PDF mail attachments from safari though.
Any suggestions.You need to download the Google Notifier and set it as the default email client. To restore the application, try running the applicable combo updater; if that doesn't work, you'll absolutely need the disks or a backup to get it back.
