Restoring book marks from a different drive

i had to delete Firefox 3.6 do to a conflict with searchtempest. so i copied the favorites from Firefox to my flash drive and now i need to put them back so Firefox will see them. just where are the favorites in Firefox so i can use them again?

thanks for these answers but they are after the fact. i just copied the bookmarks folder to the flash drive then i deleted Firefox then i downloaded a new copied of the program and then installed it. then i went to locate the bookmarks data and i did not see the folder. so i just imported the bookmarks from internet explorer and rearranged them to my taste. thanks for the help.
i suppose i should have used the backup link and that may have worked better.
i would rather use a newer version of Firefox but the spellbound program fails in the newer versions and i like that little program. no one seems to have updated spellbound to work with the new versions of Firefox. when version 3.6 fails and i can't get it to go again i will go back the internet explorer or to chrome they have nice spell checker programs that i like but I'm use the fire fox so i just keep using it.

    Hi,disc wiped ,OSX10.9 back on ,how do I restore my data from external hard drive ?Any help welcome .

    There's Setup Assistant and Migration Assistant. The cleanest way to do it is Setup Assistant, but you only get that option once when you fire up a fresh install of OSX. If you're past that, you could reinstall OSX by booting with Command-R, or you could use Migration Assistant.

    Hi macbookprowilliam, I have the SAME problem, that grey lock just appeared trolling me. I dunno the password and I wan't to sell this macbook! I need the password. Maybe it's a new malware! I don't even know how to set a firmware password and I am the only user on this computer too! I have a thread about that too: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3926399?start=0&tstart=0

  • I can't restore my bookmarks from portable hard drive, why not?

    I backed up my bookmarks through "import and Backup" yesterday as my hard drive had a failure and was being replaced. I now have a new hard drive installed and am trying to restore the bookmarks from my portable drive, but I get "unable to process the backup file". It is a JSON file, bookmarks-2015-02-08.json. Have I now lost every single one of my bookmarks by trying to use the backup procedure? I no longer have access to the failed drive.

    Hi, I did try that unsuccessfully, but was able to get them restored by following the link from a previous ask (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/927611). Thanks for the reply.

    hold c boot from the 10.6 disk, Erase the drive with Security option > Zero: Partition Option: GUID Format: OS X extended J, quit install 10.6, reboot

    Next you'll be in setup assistant,
    If the external drive is a TimeMachine drive you can restore, your done.
    If TM is corrupt your screwed and need to perform data recovery options. Stop.
    If the external drive is a clone, hold the option key and boot from it, setup the internal drive and reverse clone.
    or
    If the external drive a clone then set the new machine up with either the same or a different user name depending if the clone is good or bad.
    Use the same name if the clone is bad, install your programs from fresh sources on the new drive, transfer files manually from the bad clone.
    Use a setup different name if the clone is good, use Utilities > Migration Assistant program on the clone drive to transfer everything over.
    You can use a same name with a good clone and chose to reinstall programs fresh and just transfer files you want from the good clone.
    If the external drive a storage drive (just files) then set the machine up with the same user name as before and transfer files manually.

  • Restoring a W540 from USB Recovery Drive

    I've tried to restore from a USB drive, as per the instructions:
    http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=HT076024
    The thing is that it doesn't work with a brand new blank SSD. I get a message about 'no system device' instead. Has anybody had any joy with swapping to a new drive with this guide & tool?

    You should be able to enable that option in the BIOS.

  • Restoring Time Machine from non-fusion drive to a Fusion Drive

    I have a mid 2010 iMac (1TB HDD—before they had fusion drives) that I'm thinking of upgrading to the new iMac w/Fusion Drive because it's having hardware issues. I do a lot of development and have installed numerous packages and server configurations, of which I've been terrible at cataloging, so I'm hoping to simply do a full restore of the system from my Time Machine backup.
    I've done Time Machine restores before, but I'm not sure if it will work properly. I think I remember reading (back when fusion drives came out) that time machine restores that originated on non-fusion drives can't be restored onto fusion drives. After doing a few searches I can't find reference to that, but I have this nagging memory of reading that at some point. Is this true? If I get a fusion drive will I need to start the system new? If so, will I be able to at least restore my home directory files?
    Thanks!

    A Fusion Drive won't behave any differently than you expect.

  • How to  restore ITunes Library from Backup hard drive?

    My computer crashed. I restored it -- but ITunes was wiped clean. I have all my music files and ITunes Library backed up on an external hard drive. How do I get the library from the external drive back to the computer with playlists, artwork and all intact? I guess it is more complex than just dragging the file labled library into ITunes becuase the computer won't let me do that. When I go to the original songs they are all individually in folders accorging to the artist and album -- that will take days to copy each album 1 by 1 -- I have 3,700 songs.

    What you first need to do is Place the music it the Location they was in before you restored. If you had songs on the C drive in My Music folder, place them there. If iTunes was reading the music from the external, not much you have to do sincve there already there.
    Now with the Library file you have to make iTUnes take the file and recreate it, this is explained here http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93313

  • How do i move book marks from Winxp to Windows 7 Firefox V5.0 ?

    I'm trying to move my bookmarks from my old Windows XP system with Firefox 5.0 to my new Windows 7 system with Firefox 5.0. How do I move my book marks ? I have quite a few of them.
    Thanks,
    Joe

    You need to export the Camino bookmarks to an HTML file, and then import that file into Firefox.
    # In Camino, on the '''File '''menu select '''Export Bookmarks'''
    # In the '''Format''' dropdown menu select '''HTML''' then click on the '''Export''' button
    # Import the HTML file into Firefox using the procedure in the [[importing Bookmarks from an HTML File]] article

  • Restoring a database from a different database

    I want to restore database new2db from newdb. both dbs are on different sql server instances.
    I have backup of newdb called newdb_july.bkup.
    I ran the below command :
    restore database new2db from disk = 'c:\mssql\backup\newdb_july.bkup' with file=1,
    move 'newdb' to 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\DATA\new2db.mdf',
    move 'newdb_log' to 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQLServer\MSSQL10.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\DATA\new2db_log.ldf',
    replace,norecovery,stats=10
    the restore completed successfully but the database is still in 'Restoring' status.
    how do I get the database in active accessible status?
    appreciate the feedback.

    Yes norecovery if you want to restore more tlog or diff backup files... If you use recovery then you cant further restore any more tlog or diff backup's..
    WITH RECOVERY includes both the redo and undo phases and recovers the database; additional backups cannot be restored. This is the default.
    If the roll forward set has not been rolled forward far enough to be consistent with the database, the undo phase cannot occur. The Database Engine issues an error and recovery stops.
    If the whole roll forward set is consistent with the database, recovery is performed, and the database can be brought online.
    WITH NORECOVERY omits the undo phase to preserve uncommitted transactions. Omitting the undo phase allows for restoring other backups to roll the database further forward in time. Occasionally, RESTORE WITH NORECOVERY rolls forward data
    to where it is consistent with the database. In these cases, the Database Engine issues an informational message stating that the roll forward set can now be recovered by using the RECOVERY option.
    With the REPLACE option, restore allows you to overwrite an existing database with whatever database is in the backup set, even if the specified database name differs from the database name recorded in the backup set. This can result in
    accidentally overwriting a database by a different database.

  • Final Cut X reading from 2 different drives

    I am currently sitting at my work desk and our workflow is set up that we have all our projects on the scratch disk to work from, and the back up drive updates every night backing up the computer and hard drive. Because of this, FCPX is reading the events from the main drive and the events from the back up. Every time i open final cut the events are on a different drive.  So the first time I saw this i tried to get all the events back onto the main drive, thus duplicating the events.  Then i noticed that all the duplicated events went onto the backup drive and off the projects drive, i restarted FCPX and it reversed again! Mind you, the events and projects are still in tact on the drives in finder but I don't know for certain that I am working from an event on the actual scratch disk or from the backup drive which could create problems.
    I understand that FCPX has it's own heirarchy within the software and i havent moved any files around within finder only from within fcpx
    these 2 pictures were taken 2 minutes from each other to show what happens.
    I am also getting this prompt every time I start FCPX
    I'm scared to delete any of the events becuase at this point I have worked on diferent projcts and i'm not sure which event those projcts were pulling from.
    I want to know a couple things
    1.) why is this happening and how do i stop it?
    2.) in the future how do i stop FCPX from reading from the backup drive?
    3.) If I do decide to delete the duplicates and in the event a projct i was working on was pulling from that particular duplicate, will it be easy to re-link the media I used?
    Thanks in advance for the responses. this has become very frustrating.
    Steve

    Thanks so much for this help.  It definitely gave me a starting point and a workaround.  However, I really want to know why FCPX is reading from the backup drive, is there anyway to just tell it to ignore the drive without mounting it?  I could just remount the drive before i leave for the day but thats something that i could forget to do. as in yesterday when i got 20 minutes into my drive home and realized i forgot to reconnect.
    I know this seems like a "laziness" question but it really does worry me that final cut gets confused as to what projects are on what drives when both are connected.  It wouldn't worry me as much if both drives showed an identical projects list, that would make sense and i would have ignored it from the start.  But the fact that every time i restart final cut the projects are randomly visible or not visible on either drive really makes me worrisome.

  • Rman restore to windows server with different drive layout

    I'm restoring to a server with a different drive layout. I'm using the set newname for the datafiles and it's working fine. However. My redo logs show that they are on the f: drive and the f: drive doesn't exist on the new server (recovery). so when I'm all done I get an error saying that it cant find the redo02.log. Any ideas?
    TIA
    Dave

    no problem, thanks for the reply.
    Here's what I tried in the init.ora
    LOG_FILE_NAME_CONVERT=('F:\ORADATA\ORCQA08','D:\ORADATA\ORCQA08')
    I didn't even create the spfile I figured I could do that later.
    The datafiles alll go to the correct drive, here's my restore statement:
    run
    allocate channel disk_channel1 type disk;
    allocate channel disk_channel2 type disk;
    SET NEWNAME for datafile 1 to 'd:\ORADATA\ORCQA08\SYSTEM01.DBF';
    SET NEWNAME for datafile 2 to 'd:\ORADATA\ORCQA08\SYSAUX01.DBF';
    SET NEWNAME for datafile 3 to 'e:\ORADATA\ORCQA08\UNDOTBS01.DBF';
    SET NEWNAME for datafile 4 to 'd:\ORADATA\ORCQA08\USERS01.DBF';
    SET NEWNAME for datafile 5 to 'e:\ORADATA\ORCQA08\PLATDATA.DBF';
    SET NEWNAME for datafile 6 to 'd:\ORADATA\ORCQA08\PLATHISTDATA.DBF';
    SET NEWNAME for datafile 7 to 'd:\ORADATA\ORCQA08\TS_MV.DBF';
    SET NEWNAME for datafile 8 to 'e:\ORADATA\ORCQA08\PLATNDX.DBF';
    SET NEWNAME for datafile 9 to 'd:\ORADATA\ORCQA08\POADATA.DBF';
    SET NEWNAME for datafile 10 to 'd:\ORADATA\ORCQA08\POABDATA.DBF';
    SET NEWNAME for datafile 11 to 'd:\ORADATA\ORCQA08\POANDX.DBF';
    SET NEWNAME for datafile 12 to 'd:\ORADATA\ORCQA08\TS_REPORT_DATA.DBF';
    restore database;
    release channel disk_channel1;
    release channel disk_channel2;
    i then do a switch database to copy and this registers the datafiles under the correct drive BUT when I try to open the database this is what i get:
    ORA-00280: change 15613734 for thread 1 is in sequence #861
    ORA-00278: log file
    'D:\oracle\flash_recovery_area\ORCQA08\ARCHIVELOG\2012_08_03\ARC0000000860_07815
    80447.0001' no longer needed for this recovery
    Specify log: {<RET>=suggested | filename | AUTO | CANCEL}
    cancel
    Media recovery cancelled.
    SQL> alter database open resetlogs;
    alter database open resetlogs
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-00344: unable to re-create online log 'F:\ORADATA\ORCQA08\REDO01.LOG'
    ORA-27040: file create error, unable to create file
    OSD-04002: unable to open file
    O/S-Error: (OS 3) The system cannot find the path specified.
    You can see that it's still looking on the f: drive for the redo log. Is my syntax correct?? - - LOG_FILE_NAME_CONVERT=('F:\ORADATA\ORCQA08','D:\ORADATA\ORCQA08')
    I can get rid of the other redo logs by dropping them and recreating under the proper drive but 01 is the active log.
    any other ideas?

  • [SOLVED] How to Restore Folders/Files from a Hard Drive

    I broke my system today; it won't boot into any run level. Rather than try to fix it, I'd like to just pull off the 4 or 5 MB of files that are on the hard drive. The partition they are in was formatted XFS. I have the 2008.06 ArchLive CD - is it possible to access files from the hard drive after booting with an ArchLive CD? If so, I could just scp them to an external server. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    You should be able to mount the partition once you've loaded up the live CD. Just figure out which one it is by using
    fdisk -l
    then mount it to /mnt or wherever you want it.
    As for moving/saving them, I'm not entirely sure how to get them onto an external server. You might have to mount another partition in order to install any apps that you need to connect to an external server, but wait for someone who really knows to answer before you try it. If you're only talking about 4 or 5 MB, I would just mount a USB stick and dump them on there.

    If I want to import a different drive, e.g. my class that is doing the importing is on drive D and the package I need is on class C, what do I type after import?

    import has nothing to do with actual drives.. Just ensure the classfiles / archive is on classpatha and import those as you would any classfile

  • Possible to Restore iTunes Library from Back-Up Drive?

    Hi --
    I just want to clarify what I've read on another thread about restoring my library from a backup.
    I have a machine running XP Pro and I find myself in the unfortunate position of having to reinstall the OS. I regularly back-up my machine to an external hardrive so my iTunes library is safe. After I reinstall XP if I copy the back-up of my library back to my machine will iTunes recongnize everything? All I have to do is copy it back?
    Thanks,
    John

    Your plan should work. One thing you need to do is deauthorize the computer prior to the reinstall. If you have purchased music & don't deauthorize, iTunes will view the system as new & will require another authorization.
