Restoring Computer-Can I re-install CS4?

I need to restore my computer to factory settings. I don't have my disk for CS4 anymore, but I do have the serial number. Is there a way to download it after my computer has restored? Or is there a way to save it somehow?

Well, that DOES seem to be the scripted mantra of Adobe TS in some out of the way country. According to most reports, that cures everything from trying to Capture over a USB cable to working with footage from your cellphone camera. In most cases, it has cured very little, though maybe the Debug Event error IS something that will be fixed by this.

I recently bought a new PowerBook Pro. I have the full version of PS CS2 and just bought CS4 Design Standard (upgrade). Do I need to install CS2 first and then CS4, or can I just install CS4?

I just had a major virus problem which has apparently wiped a lot of my C:\ drive, the upshot being some of my Adobe software is no longer working. I have my serial number but can't find the original CDs. Everything is now CS5 and 5.5 on the Adobe site. Can I still download and re-install CS4 creative suite?

You know I wish people wouldn't bother replying with smart arse comments. If you don't actually have anything useful to say ith regards to my problem, then don't bother. The CDs exist. They are at work locked in a drawer to which I don;t have the key. The College is closed for the bank holiday until Tuesday and I want to work on some stuff in Flash over the weekend.Other software (e.g. guitar Pro) allows people to download and re-install older versions but apparently with Adobe it's the latest expensive rip-off or nothing!

No problems to report on the instalation there.
I am wanting to install CS4 on my laptop that has CS3 on it.
I'm having troubles finding info on what I need to do (if anything) to aid in a smooth transition.

Can I safely install CS4 alongside CS3

Hi all
We have a couple of jobs out on proof at the moment that were done in IDCS3. We are moving to CS4 and I want to know if it is safe to install CS4 on a Mac that has CS3 - will we still be able to run CS3 when the CS3 jobs come back? I know we could open up the CS3 docs in CS4 but I'd rather take time to check the documents (and the scripts used) to make sure they're right in CS4 rather than do it in a rush when the job comes in (and it will be in a rush!).

Well, I've done it and they both seem to work okay. Was slightly worried as when I ran the updater after installing CS4 it updated the Adobe Updater and I thought that if it made it a CS4 version it would no longer update CS3 programs (Indesign and Acrobat 8 Pro). But it does, so I'll sleep easier tonight.

Restored Computer, can I save my applications?

I recently had to totally reinstall Snow Leopard, and was able to restore most of my files, but unfortunately my backup did not include several recently purchased applications that are present on my iPhone (I don't sync too often).
Now that I've restored my computer, it naturally doesn't recognize my iPhone as a device with which it is familiar, and therefore wants to erase all of its contents before syncing. Is there any way I can save these applications? Almost all of the data is already on my computer but I'd rather not lose the money I spent on these apps.

Can't re install CS4 and before it was a licence problem

I had a problem with my licence so i asked help to Adobe chat. A person told me to uninstall the Creative Suite 4. I did it and he gave me a direct download link on the web to re install the product.
(I don't have the CD's because they are in France and i'm living in Canada).
So now, i have no Adobe apps and when i'm trying to install the CS4, it's truly slow and it doesn't work. It's just saying "installation in preparation" that's all.

Computer shuts down when installing CS4

I upgraded my OS from Windows Vista to Windows 8.1, Prior to doing so, I ran a Windows compatability assistant and found no problems ind upgrading windows.
when I try to reinstal my CS4, the computer shuts down doing installation. It has happened 4 times, and looks to be in the same place during the installation process. There is no error messages. The computer just shuts down.
Any ideas how to solve this?

uninstall any cs4 files you can, run the cleaner and then reinstall.

Re-formatted computer, can't re-install songs

I recently re-formatted my computer. I had backed up all of my itunes songs to disc and thought that simply by copying them back into my new itunes folder that I could once again access the songs. However, Itunes is making me find the songs manually, one at a time in order to play them. We're talking hundreds of songs here. How do I once again access all of the songs in that folder without doing it one-by-one?

If you don't mind losing your meta data and play lists, the simplest thing to do is:
Close iTunes then drag iTunes Library.itl and iTunes Music Library.xml from the iTunes folder to your desk top.
Restart iTunes and you will have an empty library. Now use File>>Add folder to library... to add your iTunes Music folder.
If you really care about you play lists and ratings etc, it MAY be possible to do something but it is much more complicated. We would need to look in detail at exactly what you folders have backed up and how you attemted to restore the files. Was the backup to an external HD?

yes, they're all installed by default in totally seperate folders. just don't mix them up (like copying plugins from one to another).

Instal CS4

Premiere Pro CS4 was working perfectly well with Windows 7 until my 2nd hard drive went wrong and the computer went berserk. Now I can't re-instal CS4 from my discs. The first time I tried it asked me what my password is and I entered it, and it went through both discs then said Thankyou. But there was no icon on the desktop and I can't find any trace of it in the computer. Re-installing CS4 Design Premium

I have the Windows XP operating system. I've had CS4 installed for several years and had no problem until recently. I primarily use Photoshop. Recently, it began not saving photos as .jpegs. I completely uninstalled it and have been trying to re-install it. I've tried installing the entire Suite, then Photoshop, In Design and Illustrator and, finally, just Photoshop. All came up with the message "Installation Failed". There is no information on why the installation failed or how to resolve it. I've turned off all my anti-virus and firewall protection (also disconnected my Ethernet) every time. Why is this happening and how can I re-install CS4?

It turns out that I have Windows 7 64-bit as my operating system instead of Windows XP. My apologies for that misinformation. I've run the Creative Suite Cleaner Suite tool and it doesn't solve the problem. I ran the Support Advisor and it keeps coming up with this as the problem:
I clicked on details and corrective actions, found Solutions and followed the instructions for removing the current Adobe color profiles. It still didn't re-install.
I don't have to install the entire CS Suite. Just Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
Is there anything else I might try?

Install CS4 upgrade without CS3 installed?

I'm moving all my production software from XP pro SP3 to a new Vista Untimate SP1 machine. Nothing is installed on the Vista yet, I just received my CS4 production prem upgrade suite, can I just install CS4 on the Vista machine without installing CS3 first since this is an upgrade version?

I have installed the cs4 upgrade but it requested for my cs3 serial #. Now I don't know if the cs3 is still useful or I can' t install it on another coputer again . Or will I still need it in the future parhaps my coputer crached and I want to reinstall all the soft ware. Will I need cs3 again before I can install cs4 upgrade.
