Restoring contacts.dat (Help please, urgent)
Hello.
I installed Mail for Exchange, and did a mistake so all my contacts got wiped from the phone.
Its and Nokia N80, and I've got a backup on my computer that I'd like to restore.
The files I've got is:
Contacts.dat
Contacts.xml
sms.dat
sms.xml
and a .db file with a lot of numbers. (IMEI number?)
How can I restore these files? Please help!
Thanks for the info - I was able to use Norton Utilities to go to mark those files as not deleted, and got them back!

Apple will be "pulsing" the release of iOS 7 to users in staggered waves according to their time zone. Thus evenly distributing the server load and ensuring that everyone that wants it can get it in a reasonable amount of time. -
I connected my iPhone 4 to my PC to sync all my new info to iTunes/PC, but it said it was not able to recognize it and needs to do a complete restore! How do I retrieve photos from my iPhone 4 before a complete restore! It'stuck on a "connect to iTunes" to restore screen and won't do anything else! I tried rebooting the phone (holding the top button and the home button and the SAME "connect to iTunes" screen comes up. If I restore, I will lose ALL my unsynced photos, apps, and data from the past week (INCLUDING pics from a concert WITH band members!) Help please! MAYDAY! My prior backup does NOT contain these photos/apps/data! Ahh!!!!
I am having the same problems as this person. I see that someone said there is no way to retrieve the pictures once it gets stuck in recovery mode.
Then further along someone said that there are data retrieval methods except they have something to do with jail breaking a phone.
My phone is already jail broken. It was kind of a gift from the company I work for- it was a fellow employees before. He jail broke it and then it was given to me. After I got it I activated the 4 and tried to back up everything. It didn't work and "Springboard" forced the phone into safety mode. So I could use it with the old dude's apps and my contacts. I made the mistake of using the phone for wedding dress shopping with a friend. I took tons of pictures.
After this I found out the messages I was seeing meant it was jail broken. At&t said to force restore the phone - iTunes wouldn't recognize it in safety mode. I'm an idiot and didn't realize what this meant for my pictures. It didn't work (error 1611) - thankfully. Now it is stuck in recovery mode (iTunes icon and USB cable picture).
Can I access that media in any way? It never suceeded restoring itself so is it still there? The phone is jail broken already so is there a method I can use? -

Most likely because the phone was jailbroken or hacked to unlock it.

If she wants to restore it back, she must have a backup before. On iTunes, click Restore iPhone and choose her backup.
If she doesn't, she has to start fresh. -

Sony pc companion back up and restore can you help please?
Right, I have a sony xperia U and I have spent 8 hours!! Yes 8 HOURS! trying to restore contacts and call logs etc,.on pc companion using the facilities of which I thought was trust worthy and reliable to use. Basically using PC Companion I backed up all I wanted onto my computer from my phone and it is not restoring back onto my phone. I am not getting any futher than clicking restore phone. Nothing. I have lost EVERYTHING. How can it be retrived?
Is there anything that I can download onto the computer that reads dbk files and I can retrieve my contacts at least. NOT ARMAK phoneminder- I have tried that.
Before anyone refers me to other threads on this site I have read them.I have tried repairing-installing-shutting down-NOTHING works. Even blaming my computer-firwall and anti virus off!!! And to be honest the explainations have not been entirely clear. And telling people that they should have used the back up app on their phone is not useful when people that have already used the Sony service and have failed. The problem has occured on this software and it's not working, could someone clearly and consise- a step by step- 1,2,3 list to help in resolving this reoccuring problem. Maybe I might actually mark the enquiry as solved!!! So it will not have to be asked again.

I myself also experienced this problem when i tried to restore my backup files from my xperia ion to my new xperia z. Whenever i try to click migrate,i always a get a "sony pc companion not responding" prompt. What i did was i created a backup file from my new xperia z and since it was just new,the backup file came with a size of only 110mb. I then tried to restore it and again came up with another "sony pc companion not responding" prompt. I was so frustrated but instead of closing the program,i chose the "wait for the program to respond" option that windows asked. After several minutes,the selection for which files to restore came up. That moment i realized that the problem is that windows is stating that the sony pc companion is not responding which is actually false. It's just that when you're trying to restore a backup file that is too big in size,the program will take a long time to start the restoring process. After that,i attempted to once again restore the backup files from my xperia ion to my new xperia z which is quite big due to a large compilation of videos amounting to a total of 5.9GB. As expected,windows stated that the program is not responding but i decided to wait. It took around 10 minutes before the restoring process started. I was really after my important contacts that's why i never gave up till i finally solve this issue. I'm actually waiting for the restoring process to finish as i am typing this reply. Don't believe what mr. johan said that you're backup file may have gone corrupt,you just need to be patient. Always remember that perseverance is the key to success.

You have to put the phone into recovery mode before you can restore it. First, turn the phone off. Second, while holding down the home button, connect the phone to the computer, and keep holding down the home button until you see the iTunes logo on the face of the phone (this is recovery mode). Next you should see a message on iTunes on your computer say something like "in order to use this phone you have to restore it from recovery mode.." This will allow you to access your phone! When my dad got a new phone he got all of my contacts because we have the same apple ID so how do i get my contacts off of his phone and also if he deletes one of my contacts off of his phone it gets deleted off of my phone. Can someone help me? Thank you
To fix this, one of you needs to migrate to a new, separate, iCloud account. To do this, start by saving any photo stream photos you wish to keep to your camera roll (unless already there) by opening your my photo stream album, tapping Select, tapping the photos, tap the share icon (box with upward facing arrow, then tapping Save to Camera Roll. If you are syncing notes with iCloud, you'll need to open each of your notes and email them to yourself so you can later copy and paste the text into new notes created in your new account. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account (which only deletes it from this device, not from iCloud), choose Keep on My iDevice and provide the password to turn off Find My iPhone. Then sign back in with a different Apple ID to create your new account and choose Merge to upload your data.
Once you are on separate accounts, you can each go to icloud.com from your computer and delete the other person's data from your account. -
I bought my iPhone 4s in the Uk and then brought to Cyprus where I live. I used Siri to call my husband 2 days ago without problem but now when I try to use Siri it won't call any local Cypriot number but will call my Uk contacts. I can call the same numbers manually so it's not my network. Any help would be appreciated.
This sounds like an international issue? Although I can not see why? I brought my phone in Australia and operating it in Indonesia, I have the same issues.... Otherwise Siri works fine, even texting (SMS) to local numbers siri works well, but dialing local number it just wont work...! I will try using my Australian SIM card and see if that is the reason.. I tried changing the number in the contacts and took out the international prefix, I turned the international assist on and off still nothing.. How frustrating. I called apple, the technican had know idea and we to his supervisor, had to wait fro 40 miuntes and then I hung up..

My ipod has suddenly stopped me putting songs onto it, it keeps coming up with the errors (-53)

There is no support contact information (at least i couldnt find one), there is no german support forum and the support pages are obviously wrong. I cant understand why i cant restore my ipod without itunes connecting to apple-server. And as stated above i cant get a working connection (always timeout error) - all my other software which updates per internet works fine (for example antivirus software). Thats really annoying.

after extending that VO in jdeveloper......Please FTP all the 3 (VO.xml, Voimpl and VORowImpl)
into to $JAVA_TOP/<custom directory>/oracle/apps/ap/oie/server/ProjectsLovVO
this thing looks very silly but important......
Please Substitute the Seeded VO to the Extended VO in the Jdeveloper......then check in the .jpx file whether the substituion has taken place
in .jpx file

Hi,
I need to read text character by character in a TextArea. Further, if the text is boldm italic etc. I also need to display it that way. I have done this with JTextArea. But, it does not allow me to use the features like bold, italic etc. I also need to have scrolling with the text area. I know that this can be done by JTextPane or JEditorPane. I tried to use JtextPAne, but the text does not get displayed.
I have used setText and getText methods and added textPane to scrollPane but no use.
Can someone please help with this? It is kind of urgent.

sjlYou must use sone default action on JTextPane component assign it to a menu item or toolbar button and after can add some style to text inserted...remember that must add a StyledEditorKit() to your component in such way that can add some default functionality.

The above code show how to get some default functionality of the JTextPane particularly to StyledEditorKit associated to JTextPane. You can get all default action and after put them as an Action directly to element of JToolBar or JButton...and so you have styled text.

Cannot restore iphone 4 - help please

as with many people on here i think, i have reached a milestone frustration at apple and the way in which it is just not possible to tell whether something has hung and should be killed, or is just worked slowly. anyhoo... any help at all with this would be much appreciated. thanks for reading.
just got back from holiday and after a week have big iphone 4 problems....

uk O2 subscriber, not unlocked
since getting back from vacation windows 7 HP has been updated to SP1 with some auto updates which i didn't much notice but may be at the root of this problem (and, if they are, then i am mad as **** with microsoft, naturally).
after this, i found that my phone worked fine but it had lost access to all of its itunes content i.e. no music, no videos. my contacts, photos, apps all seemed to be ok.
in the iphone window in itunes, and also in the iphone settings app, it showed that all of my music / videos were still there, i just could not access it / play it / see it through ipod app.
so, i tried few options from the web, basic stuff, to try to help the iphone remember its loaded content. no luck.
so, i decided to hit restore. first time it got stuck on 'restoring iphone software", no more than 10% of the way through.
i had to unplug it.
i turned the iphone off, shut-down and restarted the PC and tried again. same thing. i am now on my third attempt at this, but nothing is making any difference. when i plug it in it does recognise it and goes through steps like "verifying restore with iphone update server", "extracting software", etc, so it does know it is connected. it just cannot get past this point.
any suggestions on how to fix this would be very much welcome.
