Restoring data back after upgrade

Hi I am planning to sell my 4s & buy a iPhone 5,I want all my data including photos and music to be restored back in my new phone.
I have iTunes back up in my computer.can any one tell me the procedure?
Will I loose any data during this upgrade.my phone runs in ios6 now

Backup up your current phone, the restore your new phone to this backup when you set it up, as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2109.  The backup won't contain your music and other iTunes media; you'll need to sync your new phone with iTunes to transfer this.  Be sure to sync your contacts with iCloud (Settings>iCloud>Contacs>On) as they aren't always recovered when restoring to your backup.

  • How can I get my data back after upgrading my iphone 3gs to ios 4?

Surely Apple isn't just standing on the sidelines after people have lost their data by upgrading to IOS 4.2?

There is no reason to have lost data by upgrading to 4.2.  We are on 4.3.3 now, by the way. Are you regularly syncing and thereby backing up?

thanks - thought as much my own fault then - should have backed up before upgrading, you just dont expect it to affect the files stored, rather just the OS itself (bit like a PC if the same happened)

Unless you uploaded data to Dropbox or some other cloud based storage app or you created a back up, there is no way to retrieve the data. Sorry!

  • Why has my ipad lost connectivity to the AT&T cellular data network after upgrading to iOS 8.1.2?  My iPad is model #MD367LL/A, 32 GB WIFI + Cellular, about 2-1/2 years old.

Why has my ipad lost connectivity to the AT&T cellular data network after upgrading to iOS 8.1.2?  My iPad is model #MD367LL/A, 32 GB WIFI + Cellular, about 2-1/2 years old. It;s been working perfectly up until now.  I have no problem on my home WIFI, or through personal hotspot working through my iPhone 5.
I have worked with AT&T, replaced the SIM card with a new one, and done a backup/restore to factory settings, all with the same result that when I turn Cellular
Data on, with or without Enable LTE, it goes into "searching" mode, or reports "no service".  My iPhone 5 works perfectly on iOS 8.1.2, on Cellular.  I've browsed the blogs and have tried Apple's suggested fix, all to no result.
Oddly enough, every once in a while I do get connected to the network for a short ime (minutes), but it always returns to "searching".
I've filed a report with Apple, along with a request that they contact me, but no results yet.
    Help? (and thank you).

Hello razmee209.  Thank you for your response.  I spent the better part of yesterday working with Apple Support.  They tried their best, to include backing up photos to my HP laptop, backing up the iPad to iCloud, then resetting the iPad in total.  Same problem.  I restored from the cloud to recover my apps, same problem.
AT&T installed a new sim card - same problem.  I spent time with AT&T Support yesterday, too.  In both cases, (Apple and AT&T) the support techs who worked with me were extremely polite, courteous and helpful to the best of their abilities, but I think the problem lies deeper, and nobody at Apple is admitting they have a problem with iOS 8, that I'm aware of.
I didn't have this issue before I upgraded to iOS 8.1.2.
Everything else with the iPad works fine:  WIFI, Personal Hotspot, email, all my apps, etc.
In browsing the web for this issue I see that many other folks have the same problem.  I filed a report with Apple this morning, requesting that they contact me, but no word yet.  I was going to go to iPhone 6, and had been considering the iPad Air 2, but I see reports of this problem with those units as well.
At this point I don't think I'll be spending any more money with Apple, at least not till this issue is resolved.
Thanks again for your response and suggestions.

May i know how can i get all data back after update ios 6 and all my data lost ?

You can restore the phone and when prompted to restore choose from icloud account. BUT MAKE SURE there is 1.) an icloud backup for your phone. 2.) you are using the same apple id.

tried on a different mac. The same problem exists.
If that is the case, its extremely unlikely you have a bad USB cable on the seagate, rather as I mentioned earlier a bad SATA bridge card.
If the Seagate 1TB USB external wont open on either Mac and youve verified same (try a diff. USB cable if you have one however this is nearly never the case),....then to get the data off that HD (unless it is dead which is also extremely unlikely),......then you would need to extract the HD from its case and insert same into either a HD dock or USB HD enclosure.
8 out of 10  seemingly dead inopperable 1-3+ year old external HD are perfectly fine, rather the cheap 50 cent SATA bridge card fries and dies (alas)
reply back if you need help in extracting same.

  • Meta dates in AlbumData.xml (date problems after upgrade)

    HI folk,
Further to my post earlier today about the date mashup after upgrading, I was wondering if a [careful!] edit of the AlbumData.xml file might help.
If I knew what these fields meant I might be able to work out what to do...
    <key>DateAsTimerInterval</key>
    <real>9850139.000000</real>
    <key>ModDateAsTimerInterval</key>
    <real>206299947.507982</real>
    <key>MetaModDateAsTimerInterval</key>
    <real>206299831.664670</real>
Which one (if any of these) does iPhoto use when deciding what order to display the photos in? And what are the numbers? Seconds since 1984? Picoseconds since the Woz left the company? Curious minds want to know.
And yes, I'd use a backup for experimentation.
    Rob

    Rob,
That timestamp is probably based on the [Unix Epoch|http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unix_time], the basis for almost all time stamps in programs based on Unix and/or the C programming language. If those dates are in fact based on the Unix epoch, they are based on the number of seconds since Jan1, 1970.
Sometimes such dates are represented as integers (like DateAsTimerInterval seems to be) and sometimes they are represented as floating point numbers (like the other two) in an attempt to circumvent the Year 2038 problem.
You may find this useful: [http://www.unixtimestamp.com>
Personally, I would love to find out how your experimentation goes - what fails and what works; if you have to go through any hoops to get iPhoto to recognize your changes; if exporting a photo changes its EXIF timestamps after you play with the XML file, etc.

  • E7: Is restoring data easy after updating to Belle...

Is restoring data easy after updating to Belle from Anna?
    Ideas for restoration strategies?
    Dave
Former Psion 3a-5-5mx & Psion netbook (Symbian) user who had an E63, E71
Now an E7 casualty remembering the 8 replacement Nokia Orange (or was that Lemon?) 2140's I had in 1996...

If you update using Nokia Suite then it will take care of the restoration for you and will restore everything it possibly can (messages, photos etc..), but note that all your settings and widgets and homescreens will not be restored.
Do not try to use anyother restore method as it will break the Belle installation.
You should still take a backup, but in the event that you needed to do a reset and restore in future, you should not restore any settings, only restore user files.
read the update FAQ first, then you'll know what you are getting and there won't be any surprises.

  • Data extraction after upgradation

    Hello All,
iam suppose to do testing data flow after upgradation and iam new to this please experts correct me i am  wrong  what i understand is there some R/3 programm's which need to be triggered manually which in schedule the job and event collector in BW collects the data .Before that we need to intialize the delta process from infopackage and after job is triggered by programe i need to run delta process.iam not sure whether this is way it works.please confirm and suggest me if iam wrong.
    Thanks & Regards
      Priya

    Hi Priya,
You have to clear all the delta queues and unschedule all the process chains before starting the upgradation to BI7 .
And after upgradation reschedule the process chains and pull the deltas and full loads. Initialize the delta before loading the deltas also check the same in RSA7 in source system. Also execute all the reports required.

  • BACK UP DATA MISSING AFTER UPGRADE

    Hello again
I am posting again my problem , maybe this time I can get some more help..
I was using an older Itunes and 4.1 os on Iphone. I backed up iphone and restored it (TWICE) to check for data and eveything was there, after upgrading Itunes and OS to 5.0.1 , I tried to restore from the Previous Backup but lots of data was missing (contacts, pix, videos, songs, passwords) . What happened here ?
    I found 4 backup folders with dates :  20/jan/2012 (1 folder )  , 23/jan/2012 (2 folders)  and   26/jan/2012 (1folder) <---date of upgrade.
(I forgot to mention that when i was upgrading the OS , I wasn't prompted to do anything by Itunes, Itunes upgraded and backed up the phone automatically.)
I  looked inside those folders and found out that the folders from 20/jan and 23/jan contain identical info. but the one from 26/jan is different !!!!!
1)does that mean that the original backed up info is still there but not ported over to the new OS ?!!!
2)Is there anything in particular that I should look for in the backup folders ?
3)assuming the original backed up data is still there , how do we make sure it is completely transfered to the new OS ?
    Regards

That sounds like a more complicated problem within PC Suite...Maybe you should contact Nokia directly to see if they can come up with a solution for this.

  • Can't read data CDs after upgrading to 5.0

After upgrading to 5.0, I can't read data CDs I've already made from any other programs. When I try to open one, Windows Explorer shows D: drive with no folders or files at all, and 0 bytes used/0 bytes available. I can still play DVDs and audio CDs. iTunes 5.0 opens fine on pc, and I can access/play music, but doesn't recognize my iPod or iPod mini. I'm afraid to download anything else until I get this problem fixed. HELP - please
I've used System Restore to go back to earlier version, and that lets me view/use CDs, but I can't open iTunes - message says some files missing, reinstall iTunes. I've tried to uninstall iTunes through add/remove, but the install shield disappears after starting.

    hi Jeanne!
Problem is obviously a software conflict, but I'm lost on how to fix it. And it's getting tiring installing upgrade to use iTunes, then going back to System Restore in order to back up data from other programs - plus I can't believe that's the best thing to do for the pc.
gaah. okay, the fact that a Syetem Restore gets your CD drives back suggests it's a registry issue, and also that we're either getting a conflict with other installed non-MS burning/ripping software
    b or
(unfortunately), there is a problem showing up related to such software that you've
    b previously uninstalled,
but which has left behind some peculiar registry entries.
so let's try attacking both the ghosts of software present and past.
    (1) what other burning/ripping software do you currently have on your PC? can you go into your "about" screens in the packages to let us know the precise version name and number? (the decimal points do make a difference, i'm afraid.)
    (2) here are the standard MS troubleshooting documents on CD drive problems. it might be best to start with the
    b burning
KB doc, because that has probably the best information/links on the conflict issues:
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;324129
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/321641/
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314096/EN-US/
    keep us posted.

  • All Data Lost after upgrade

Was wondering if someone could help out...
So I get a call late last night from my mom, she's upgraded her boyfriend's phone on her Windows Vista PC using iTunes. Although, it's upgraded, but deleted ALL data from the phone.
The phone doesn't appear in 'My Devices', nor does it appear in the option to 'restore from'... however, there DOES appear to be a file in the backup location (after a LONG time trying to find it on Vista) that appears to have been last modified at the time of data loss - I am presuming this will be the backup file from the boyfriends phone.
So - how can she go about restoring all the data back to the iPhone?
I hope this makes sense, any help is appreciated.
    Thanks

I have the same problem. Tried to update, but phone got stuck in the "syncing" phase after backing up and updating the OS (it never went past the first of three steps to sync). Restoring the phone to its factory condition gives me a shiny new, fully-functional phone with absolutely nothing in it. No photos, no text messages, no contacts, no calendar. Some of these items can be restored because they live in the .mac cloud, but the photos and text messages cannot.
Before the software updated, iTunes made a backup of the current state of the phone. I've tried everything under the sun to restore the phone to this particular backup, but it doesn't finish the process. This backup lives in the ~/Library/Application Support /MobileSync/Backup/ folder.
Now, your post provides a solution, but I'm afraid I don't understand what it means. Should I move the backup to ~/Library/iTunes/Mobile Backups/Structured and try again? Or should I move something from ~/Library/iTunes/Mobile Backups/Structured into ~/Library/Application Support /MobileSync/Backup/? As of now, the only thing within that Structured folder is a status.plist file.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
    thanks,

  • How do i get all my contacts back after upgrading to ios5?

After upgrading to ios5, I lost all my contacts, notes, pictures, videos, EVERYTHING ! All my apps were back, but not in the folders I had set up. I lost all my notes from school, my homework, my passwords for everything too...this really *****.

You can look at this document about a restore, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414, but it will show you that after you restore, it takes you to the Setup assistant which is what  you encounter with a new device. From there, you select to restore to a backup and select the iCloud backup.
