Restoring Data From Previous Install of iTunes

I had a hardware problem with my previous laptop, yet I had been doing weekly backups of data on the laptop. I now have a new laptop and want to restore iTunes and the associated music I currently have on my iPod Shuffle. Is there a way to do this? I have restored data into My Music folder and continue to get the error:
the original file could not be found...
Is there additional data I need to restore?

When you use BlackBerry Link to transfer data from an old device to a new one the software should prompt you to connect your old device. That's when you connect the Z10 (as long as you didn't delete everything from the Z10). It copies and then it prompts you to connect the new device.
To make sure BB Link connects to the new device, go into that device's Settings > Storage and Access and make sure you have USB Connection set for "Connect to PC" and not to "Autodetect." You can try toggling to Mac and back to PC if it doesn't recoginize the connection.

  • Restoring data from previous device not working

    QUESTION:
My question is, am I able to transfer data from my previous Blackberry 10 device and onto my new Blackberry 10 device if I do not have my old device anymore? (Keeping in mind that I have the previous device data backed up).
    Problem:
    Ok so:
    1. I purchased the Z10 and started adding contacts, apps etc.
    2. I purchased the Q10 and transfered data using the switch device system
    3. The Q10 I had purchased was faulty so before I handed it in to get a new Q10 I backed it up so I could restore its data on the new Q10.
    4. Once I received the new Q10 I handed the old one in and went home and attempted to do the same method of transferring my data across
Turns out that you need your previous bbry for this action to be able to work so I thought I would just connect the new Q10 into Link and just click on restore data and using the backup on my previous Q10 (the faulty one).
    5. I get an error every time saying that the restore could not be completed because; did not recognise device, try unplugging and replugging etc etc.
Attempted Resolution from reading the forums:
    > Restarted PC
    > Took bbry battery and sim card out
    > Restoring data via Applications > Media > Settings
    > Removed device from Link
    > Restarted bbry
    > Full security wipe and tried again

  • Restore Data from Previous Day

I have my SQL Database Web Edition hosted on Azure, some stupid user deleted his data, how can I restore from previous day data?
    TIA

    Hi vai,
According to your description, as Mekh’s post, Microsoft Azure SQL Database service has built-in backups to support self-service Point in Time Restore ,Geo-Restore, Point in Time Restore and Geo-Restore are enabled for Basic, Standard, and
    Premium service tiers.
In a SQL Azure Web database, you need to create a backup, then it will restore and protect your data from application or users errors.
There is an article about how to setup a backup and restore strategy for a Windows Azure SQL Database. You can review it.

  • Lost iPhone - How do I restore data from previous phone to new one?

I recently lost, then replaced my iPhone. Does anyone kknow how I can access the previous data stored for the old, now lost phone?

iTunes maintains a backup for the iPhone that is updated as the first step during the iTunes sync process. This link provides the data included with the iPhone's backup.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
When you connect a new iPhone to iTunes the first time, you should be prompted to transfer the backup for a previous iPhone to the new iPhone. This must be followed by a sync with iTunes.
If you weren't prompted to transfer the backup for your previous iPhone to your new iPhone or you declined this prompt, you can restore your new iPhone with iTunes from the backup for your previous iPhone.

Circle and cross through iTunes icon: had the seagate hard drive replaced and restored data from time machine backup. Why does the iTunes icon have a circle and cross through it? As though incomplete? tried everything and still Circle and cross through iTunes icon.

No it isn't something you'd find on the computer, it has to be custom installed from the 10.6 installer disc or Software Update if it wasn't before.  It allows you to use older PowerPC applications on your Mac.   On the other hand double check the version of iTunes you have does not require 10.7 minimum either.

  • A message saying I had to restore my iPad to factory settings came up, can I recover data from previous back-ups?

Tonight, a message came up on iTunes came up saying I need to restore my iPad to factory settings came up. Is there any way I can avoid doing a factory restoration? If not, can I recover data from previous backups?

If you got the message that you need to connect to iTunes, there is no choice now but to restore the iOS software. Yes, you can restore from a backup after you restore the iOS software.
You can only restore now by connecting to your computer and using iTunes, and at the end of the restore process, you will be asked if you want to restore from your iTunes backup to which you will say yes and then sync your iPad as well. Syncing will transfer all of your apps, music, movie, books, photos etc, back to the device. If you do not backup and sync with iTunes, you can still restore from an iCloud backup after you restore the software in iTunes.

I cannot get help from Apple support because i am being asked to supply the serial number which is stored on the phone and I cannot restore my data in the first place. I am reluctant to "Set up as a new Iphone" since I don't know whether if I do I  may not then be able to access my data from Itunes...
Please advise what to do. I did not see any tutorials on Youtube to help me with this.
I look forward to an early response.

    Hey joshuafromisr,
If you resintall iTunes, it should fix the issue. The following document will go over how to remove iTunes fully and then reinstall. Depending on what version of Windows you're running you'll either follow the directions here:

    Hello everybody,
I need help to restore data from my iCloud account on an unused iPhone 5c because my iPhone 5 with a newer iOS update was stolen. When I try I get a message that I cannot retore my data because the iOS on my iPhone 5c is an older version than on the stolen iPhone 5.
There must be a way to do this. I hope to hear from you
    thanks!

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You cannot. However, you can solve this problem by setting the iPhone as a new device and upgrading iOS in Settings -> Software Update.
After upgrading iOS, open Settings -> General -> Reset -> Erase All Content and Settings. Finally, Setup Assistant will let you restore the backup.

  • How can I restore data from iCloud

My iPad locked up last night and I had to restore to factory settings to make it operable.  During the process it asked me if I wanted to restore my data and it told me that the latest and only backup was from a few minutes before that time which was AFTER all my stuff got wiped out.  I was able to resync some apps and all my music from iTunes, but I lost a ton of pictures and other files that I thought were SUPPOSED to be safe on iCloud.
So I start reading about restoring data from iCloud and apparently Apple only does this on a NEW device.  What a load of crap!
Does anyone have any idea how I can get my data from the stupid iCloud to my stupid iPad?

The "Apple data" such as contacts, calendars, notes, etc. are not backed up to an iCloud backup, since they reside in the special databases on iCloud.  If you delete some data from a device (e.g. one contact), it is deleted from that device, from iCloud's database and thus from all other devices connected to that iCloud account.
Hence performing a restore from an iCloud backup will not help.
However, if that data was ever on a computer (assuming the computer also synced data from iCloud) and if you consistently perform backups using something like Time Machine on a mac or any number of backup programs on Windows, then you should be able to restore the data from that backup.  For example, on a mac, invoke the contacts app then choose Enter Time Machine from the Time Machine icon on the main toolbar.  That will allow you to go back in time and choose an older backup to restore.
If you have an iTunes backup on the computer, I'm not really sure that also includes the Apple data stored on iCloud.  It should have the local data.  For example, Contacts can be under "iCloud" or "On My Mac" (or whatever computer you use).  An iTunes restore should restore the data on your computer.
The whole idea regarding an iCloud backup is that if your device ever fails and must be replaced or reset, the backup will restore all the data as it was at the time of the last backup.   The restore will return all the device's settings such as iCloud login, on/off states of data to connect to (like contacts).  Once that's done, the device will connect to iCloud and download the current data.
    IMPORTANT...
Photos should be regularly synced to a computer (like you store photos from a digital camera) using either USB via iTunes (on a mac use iPhoto or Aperture to move them to an album) or using photo stream.  If you have been doing that, then you can sync those photos back to your device.
If you haven't been saving photos except relying on iCloud to store them in a backup, then that is risky, as many users have discovered.  I'm afraid I have no advice in this case - there is no "cure".

  • Restore data from iCloud without resetting?

Let me get this straight. If I want to restore data from iCloud, then I will need to reset everything before I can do that? I have some photos that I need to restore, I can not do this in mac (asking for aperture or iphoto, which I refuse to buy, as Apple tries to nickel & dime). If this is correct,  then this is the dumbest idea, and iCloud qualifies to be the worst thing in the history of computers ever!

I have a MacBook Pro. I connect my iPad to the Mac with the USB cable and launch Image Capture. My iPad appears under the Devices heading with the option to import all of the photos - or any combination of them - to any folder on my Mac that I choose.
Did you try connecting the iPad to your Mac and launch Image Capture?
iCloud and iTunes both create full backups of the data and photos that are on your iOS device. The backups are to be used in emergency or troubleshooting situations. These backups are not like having external storage where you can selectively restore content. If your iPad software were to go bad and you needed to restore it, you could restore from the current backup in order to get all of the files and app data back onto the device.
Backups are not the same thing as storage drives where you can drag files onto and off of the drive.

  • Even though iOS cannot restore backups of newer devices, can it restore data from an older device using 7.1.2 to a newer device using iOS8

iPhone 4s 16GB running iOS 7.1.2. Even though iOS cannot restore backups of newer devices, can it restore data from an older device using 7.1.2 to a newer device using iOS8

    Hi ,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you cannot use your Wi-Fi after the latest update to your iPhone 4s. I know you have already done some great troubleshooting by restoring with iTunes but the Wi-Fi becomes unavailable very quickly after you set it up. Go ahead and set up the iPhone so you can get into the Setting and then follow the steps provided in the attached article.
iOS: Wi-Fi settings grayed out or dim
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1559
         Resolution
Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
    Restart your iOS device.
Make sure that airplane mode is off by tapping Settings > Airplane Mode.
Reset the network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
This will reset all network settings, including Bluetooth pairing records, Wi-Fi passwords, VPN, and APN settings.
Make sure that your device is using the latest software. To do so, connect your device to your computer and check for updates in iTunes.
If you complete all of these steps and still are not able to access the Wi-Fi, it may be necessary to follow the link at the bottom of the page and contact Apple Support.
    Have a great day,
    -Joe

How do I restore data from my iphone 4 to my iphone 5 that was initially set up as new iphone?

You can use iCloud or you can Restore From Back Up using iTunes. Your iPhone 4 data can now be placed in iCloud or you can Sync your iPhone 4 to iTunes. Once Sync is in iTunes, connect iPhone 5 to iTunes if it does not ask if you want to Restore from Back Up, right click PC or Control click Mac the iPhone 5 name in left column of iTunes. In the drop down menu select Restore From Back Up, in the menu in the center of iTunes select the back up you want on your iPhone 5.
