Restoring Deleted Sections of Video In Quicktime Pro 7

Does anyone know if you can restore the deleted sections of video in quicktime pro. I selected in & out points on a video then clicked save, instead of save as,(did not mean to do that) and it deleted most of my video, when i did not want to delete, just pull out the section where my in & out points were.
So I'm trying to restore the orig. video and that was the only copy, so I have no where else to go and retrieve it. If anyone would know if it is possible to restore the video you have cut but forgot to save orig. file. I would appreicate any help on this.. Thx....

IF I use system restore to a restore point before I cut video would that possibly get original video file back? Reply from quicktimekirk says it's gone for good, but not sure if he has ever tried the system restore to get back to a time before video was cut. Any help greatly appreicated,I only had 1 original file copy of video file I'm trying to restore. I did back it up on dvd when first recorded,so I still have that, but I'm trying to restore the original .mov video file. Thanks and I'll remember from now on to back up any file I'm working on. Thanks again..........

  • Can not encode / export videos in quicktime Pro

I have been unable to ever sucessfuly export a video with quicktime pro on my new laptop I got this past July right from the start.
When ever I start exporting a video into the h.264 or other formats the progress will start off at 8% and about 5 minutes later will on average get as far as 21%. But that is as far as I can get. At that time quicktime terminates. I get a Message from the Visual C++ Library saying that QuickTimePlayer.exe has encountered a buffer overun and its internal state has become currupted and must be terminated. When you click OK quicktime Is closed out, and the file you were attempting to create is left on your disk with a file size of 0 bytes.
This is with the latest version of quicktime.
    My system spects are
    CPU: AMD Athlon X2 4800+
    Memory: 2 GB
    OS: Windows XP Professional SP2
Does anyone know what is causing the buffer overrun and how I can fix it or get past this problem. Uninstalling and Reinstalling quicktime does not fix the issue and it has been happening since day one like I said.
I typed out the whole buffer overrun error when It occured about 10 minutes ago here trying to post this thread, however I should of known better then leaving the buffer overrun errors open and quicktime ideling with the termination message. Windows Decided to BSOD on my just as I was getting ready to post this message=\

QuickTime is not supported on the 64-bit version of Windows (look here for the official statement), so if that's what you have (as I presume you do from the processor description), it may well not work correctly. Some people have managed to get it working (at least tolerably), but from what I've read, a recent security update from Microsoft has caused a lot of problems. You might try rolling back recent Windows updates and see if you can get things working, but it may just not work for you.

  • Deleted Sections of Video Remain In .MOV File

Hi I am new to this forum and wonder if I may ask a question regarding QuickTime Pro v7.5.5.
I have recently taken a video clip using my Kodak DX7440 digital camera and have used QuickTime Pro v7.5.5 to delete a few seconds from the start and end of it.
This works fine within QuickTime itself, and the deleted clips are absent as desired, but when I go to Nero Vision (v7) to burn the video clip to a DVD, the deleted sections are still there, and I find this quite annoying, as I then have to perform the edit all over again before burning.
It seems the deleted sections are still within the .MOV file. Is there any way to get rid of them completely ?
Many thanks in advance for advice.

Thanks for reply - but the Undo is greyed out, and doesn't affect it. I also tried Export but when playing the exported file I got a green colored still video picture displaying (but with sound OK). I suspect there is a bug of some kind causing my problem.

  • Error when trying to save still image from video with Quicktime Pro

I just purchased Quicktime Pro so that I can use it with my new Nano (the one that shoots video). I want to grab a frame from the video and create a still image (in jpeg format). I should be able to do it, but when I try, I get an error 11005 (or something like that). Anyone know any way to fix this? Thanks!

I also tried the alt/ctrl/shift buttons when clicking Editor in the Photoshop welcome screen. It did ask if I wanted to reset the preferences. I chose yes. I still get the same error message when trying to save for web.
Below....showing I don't have a "save for web" folder on my C drive.
And below, showing the same error after pressing alt/shift/ctrl when clicking on editor and clearing the preferences.
I don't have a 'Save for Web' folder anywhere on my C: drive. I searched and came up with no folder with the text "save for web" in it.
I did find a "save for web" folder on my D: drive and deleted that.. but now when I start up Photoshop, the option for Save for Web is grayed out...not able to select it.

  • Can I cut & past MOV videos with QuickTime Pro ?

I have a couple of DigiCam Quicktime MOV videos which I want to cut & paste.
Is this possible with a QuickTime Pro installation (under WinXP) ?
Is there any other alternative software which let me do such simple tasks with Quicktime MOV videos?
    Peter

    Yes.
QuickTime Player Pro allows editing of nearly any format it can "play". MPEG-1 can be viewed but not edited.

  • Saving Videos With QuickTime Pro

I recently brought QuickTime Pro so I could save videos I wanted, and put them on my iPod. I'm having troubles doing this. Can someone please help?!?

Sometimes when you tap the download link in Safari yu can download and save the video. The GoodReader app allows you to download via entering the download URL. You can copy the URL from Safri and paste in GoodReader.

  • Extracting Audio from Video With QuickTime Pro?

I read on another discussion board that QuickTime Pro could record/extract audio only from a video file. So I purchased the QuickTime Pro upgrade today (for Windows XP) but can't seem to find out how to do it, assumimg that post was correct and it can be done at all.
The Nero video editing software I use can get the video file in MPEG-2, MPEG-1, AVI and other formats. I tried MPEG-1, but even the conversion to QuickTime's .mov format came up with no audio at all. I noticed a post here saying that was a limitation of the software. I could purchase the QuickTime MPEG-2 add-on but that seems to only allow playback and doesn't look like it will help any.
Another post on the other discussion board said that virtualdub.org has a software program that could do this extraction, but silly me I went with Apple and was delighted to read about the no refund policy just now. :-/
I'm guessing another possible approach is some kind of hardware solution -- a recording device of some sort?

In order to extract a track (video or audio) the file first must have those as independent tracks.
MPEG 1 and 2 are "muxed" (video and audio in the same track) so QuickTime Pro has nothing to extract.
MPEG Streamclip (free) can convert .mpg and .mpeg files to QuickTime formats.
If you export from Nero as .avi you can also use QuickTime Pro to extract tracks as it will have at least two.
MPEG 1 and 2 are playback formats and are not intended to be edited.

  • Importing sony video to quicktime pro 7

I am trying to import videos from my Sony Handycam into Quicktime Pro 7 for editing and submission via the internet to a third party. Quicktime doesn't want to open the files due to an error code 2048. How can I convert the files to MP4 to see and edit them?

The files found on the camera are MPEG-2 format and QuickTime Player Pro can't even open them without additional software:
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/extending/components.html
But QuickTime Player Pro isn't the tool for editing MPEG-2. It will not even extract the audio track during export.

  • How do I Capture Streaming video with Quicktime Pro?

In Lamonts post about converting video for the iPod, it was pointed out that one can capture streaming video (Steve Jobs Keynote speech for instance), with Quicktime Pro. I have QT7.04 Pro, but don't know how to do this simple thing. Can someone please tell me?
    Smartmart

it's possible. i did it myself, after a few tryouts.
i still can't get the best result, but i got something.
first of all you have to save the streaming file(thru the save as qt movie, from CTRL-click). when you get a stream it gets cached on your computer. you might playback it even when offline. so if all that you need is a simple playback, that's ok. but it's a cache, sometime the system will erase it from your HD.
if you want to keep it as a qt file(or any other format) thats this is the deal. when you save the stream file, it saves a reference file(4kb) that reads the cache. you cannot recover them from the cache, not even by changing the termination, because the qt player won't recognize the .qtch files transformed into .mov.
open the file(reference you saved before), choose export from the file menu, and choose the setting that you want. i still don't get a good quality(i know it's incredible that a stream file has a better quality...) and i still have to export the video separated from the audio. but if you need only the moving image to edit a homevideo, and your only source is a stream, it's a start.
so if anyone feel like growing the knowledge tree, let's go ahead.

  • How do i delete sections of video and audio at the same time

hello, i made a video with sound and overlapping voiceover i want to know how do i delete a section of the video and the voice over without having to resynch everything again?

In Final Cut Pro X, this is easy. You drag to select all these clips. Then use the Blade Tool.
However, in iMovie, it is not as straightforward. You can edit the camcorder clip and its audio, but any music tracks, voiceover tracks, etc. will not be edited with it.
A workaround is to use the SHARE menu to SHARE/EXPORT TO QUICKTIME using Apple Intermediate Codec to retain as much quality as possible. Then import this new movie into an Event. New all the audio is married to the video and you can edit everything together.

  • Deleting sections of Video

So I highlight a section of my .mov file in QT pro 7 with the arrows and delete, but it deletes a large chunk after the right arrow.  How do I delete JUST the section that I highlighted?
    Thanks!

So I highlight a section of my .mov file in QT pro 7 with the arrows and delete, but it deletes a large chunk after the right arrow.  How do I delete JUST the section that I highlighted?
What kind of files are you editing? This could also be a GOP issue. QT normally marks/edits/processes GOP (Group of Picture) content on the nearest I-frame. If this is the problem, then depending on your goals and/or required workflow, you have two options:
    1) The first option would be to convert the GOP content to an all intra-frame or more modern compression format in which can mark/edit/process any frame individually, or
    2) Use a GOP edit compatible application for marking/editing/processing the GOP content. Normally, I would recommend trying MPEG Streamclip (free).

  • Can't save videos with Quicktime Pro

Hi, I was trying to watch the new iPhone 3.0 OS presentation, but it couldn't stream properly. So I wanted to download it so I could watch it later without buffering etc. But when I save it 'as a qt movie' or 'a qt source' it saves as a maximally 3kb .mov file. And when I play it, it streams again. So I don't understand how it isn't downloaded fully.
    Can anyone help?
    Thank you very much!

True "streaming media" files in QuickTime format can't be saved to a local machine. All you can save is a "link" (your 3KB file) to the source.
Many of those Apple presentation files (Keynotes, for an example) are available for download at the iTunes Store.

  • QuickTime Pro Video Capture

I cant seem to figure out how to capture video from a USB capture card to QuickTime Pro. I know I installed it correctly, but no video that is supposed to pop up ever did when i finished appling QuikTime Pro settings. I can barily tell a diference, and i need to know how to capture video to QuickTime Pro. Please let me know if a wasted my money.

Even the Mac version of QuickTime Pro can't capture "on screen" events. We use third party software for those tasks just like Windows users.
QuickTime Pro "Record" (New Video Recording - Mac only or New Audio Recording - Mac or PC) works with the built in devices found on a Mac (iSight camera) or external devices meeting the requirements (usually Firewire connection).
I use SnapzProX on my Mac (about $70) to record on screen events. Similar products for Windows sell for as little as $20.
