Restoring / Find My iPhone / Forgotten Parental Controls' Passcode Problem

Hi, I was wondering, how do I restore my iphone when I cannot disable Find My iPhone because the Parental Controls' passcode has been forgotten, which cannot be disabled because I would need to restore my iPhone, which obviously I cannot do?

You can disable Find My iPhone by going to iCloud.com and signing in with the Apple ID and password, then clicking Find My iPhone and choosing to "remove this device". Your Apple ID password is almost certainly different from your Restrictions Passcode. If you also do not remember your Apple ID Password, then do not restore the iPhone, as that would leave you with an Activation Locked iPhone. Your best bet would be to take steps to reset or recover the Apple ID password before proceeding. AppleID.apple.com is where you can go to reset the Apple ID password if that is the case.

- Restore from a backup that was make before you added the Restrictions passcode. If you restore from a backup made with the Restrictions passcode the Restrictions passcode is also restored.

Thanks all. Yes, the actual solution was quite simple. I can't believe Google can't find ANYTHING on it. And so, I made a YouTube vid showing how easy it is. Glad I didn't wipe everything and start over And yes, all I could find were people who'd forgotten the passcode.

HT201304 I forgot my parental control passcode how do I recover it.

I need to get into my daughter's ipod to adjust parental controls....however I cannot remember the passcode it asks for under restrictions...four digit passsode how do I either reset it or retrieve it?
Also need to remove my credit card from I tunes account so there is no charging of apps without my knowledge.

Pam,
Forgotten passcodes cannot be recovered...you have to restore the iPod to remove the passcode entirely. Start iTunes on your computer, attach the USB end of the iPod cable, then while holding the home button on the iPod connect the 30-pin connector end of the cable to the iPod...you will enter recovery mode, then you have to restore and then restore from backup.
Forgetting passcodes is a very painful experience.
You cannot remove a credit card reference from an account and keep the account open...you should now be asked to identify and answer three security questions...only you will know what the questions are and the answers. That prevents anyone else from using your account.

IPhone 4S parental controls

Looking to change wireless providers and buy myself and 2 kids the iphone 4s.
Please correct me if I am wrong but here is how I believe the parental controls will work.
1) Usage Controls
               Verizon network - Content, usage allowances, time restriction, block/trusted numbers all work
                Wireless network - Content, usage allowances, time restriction, block/trusted numbers do not work
2) Family Locator
               Verizon network - Does not work
                Wireless network - Does not work
3) Content Filters
                Verizon network - works
                Wireless network - does not work

How do I restore Find My iPhone (version 3.0) after resetting an iPhone 4 (OS 7.1.2)?

I have an older iPhone 4 which can't be upgraded to the new OS 8, and had to reset it. Everything was restored from back-up except the Find My iPhone app which is now version 4.0 and requires OS 8 or greater. Is there a way to revert the Find My iPhone app to 3.0 - or is there a download site that supports 3.0?

hey danbi, thanks for the reply. I went to icloud, but there was nothing new there, went through that whole process when I updated to iSO 5.1. I can't find how to get it started on my PC. I have no working icon anywhere. The icon only appears in my apps folder, but doesn't do anything when I click on it except get a blue ring around it. When I right click, I have the following options, get info; show in windows explorer; and delete. Any other suggestions?

I was panic and accidentally I use erase account from find my iphone rather than use lost mode. after that I cannot located my ipad but I don't know (not sure) this is because i erase the account or because the founder of my ipad turn off the Ipad..?

Safari + Parental Controls Enabled = Problem

Not sure whether to post this in Safari or Snow Leopard. Just wondering if anyone has run into the infamous (for me at least) Parental Controls bug that was present in 10.5 and now it seems it's found a way into 10.6.2. I tried to checkout today at the Apple Store online and also at Wal-Mart to get a black friday deal, neither of the processes would go past the "Check Out Now" button where you would enter your address information. I switched to my Guest user account and magically it worked. Remembering that i could not connect to the iTunes store in 10.5 with parental controls enabled i tried disabling the parental controls for my user and voila! It works. Has anyone else come across this? Nothing big just annoying to have to switch users.
Additional info: I only use it so i won't delete dock icons no internet access is limited and nothing else is set except for cannot change password. I tried it with FireFox (don't use it regularly just downloaded it) and got the same result, would not go past to the checkout.

Since you went to the trouble to ask here, I'd think that not being able to use some of the sites you mentioned would be more important - do you need instructions on how to initiate/replace dock icons?

When I try to open a restricted application on my iMac, it says you aren't allowed to open it, but it keeps on bouncing. Can someone tell me why?

Have you checked your account in System Preferences > Users And Groups and checked that the Parental Controls box isn't ticked for your account?

My son has an iPhone 4S. Can I disable his ability to text? Use data (You Tube, Safari, etc.)? The "restrictions" capability on the phone does not seem to be very robust. Thank you...

You cant turn off texting from the restrictions from the phone (just like calling). You can possibly turn it off by contacting your wireless provider (ATT, Sprint, Verizon).
On a side note, why would you give your kid a $600 phone, and then turn off basic features the phone comes with?

TS4006 I located my remote locked my sons ipod via find my iphone app with the passcode "1234" and now it says passcode invalid? I have no computer to sync it to either?

ugh- My son left his ipod in a friends car. I remote locked it with another ipod. I entered "1234" as the passcode (stupid me?) and when we got it back it says invalid and keeps locking us out. I was never sent an email that the password would be changed if I did this. My problem is that I never synced it and the usb ports do not work anyhow on the laptop. He has only had it since March-this is beyond frustrating. I dont know what to do. Help?? Thank you

IPhone - Safari parent window focus problem

I am having a peculiar problem with a website i am developing. The problem *only* happens on the iPhone(safari).
My setup is as follows.
1) I have a CLIENT page - shows an initial page, and has a login button.
2) User clicks on the LOGIN button, and is shown a LOGIN popup/new-window (this is created by posting a form using jquery 'submit' function with target='_blank')

I use the above after authenticating with google and getting a token back in this case tok and this needs passing back to the original app. I would prefer not to launch a new window and have this mess but becasue the google API wont accept a proper route url for angular I cant get that to work. This way was the closest that I got.

Parental controls: whitelist problem

I'm trying to create whitelist of sites for children, because automatic filtering just doesn't work. I would like to add wikipedia.org to the list.
According to the article here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2900, adding http://wikipedia.org/ should be sufficient (Quote: "Note: For most websites, the Internet content filter considers the domain name and not the path. For example, if http://www.example.com is added to the list, then http://pictures.example.com will be allowed, as will http://www.example.com/movies.")
However, children cannot access wikipedia pages other than start page. I.e. searching for kangaroo in english takes to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kangaroo, which while being on the same domain is considered blocked.
