Restoring I POD touch after forgetting the access code

I want to restore my I Pod touch  because my son forget the access code but after the loading process on I tunes it says that it took too long and I should check my network settings. I don't know where to look for it? Please help

Hi, thank you very much for your advice. It worked and my son and I are very happy that he can finally use his I POD again. I should have asked earlier and I would have saved a lot of time. Thanks again.

Error 2000-2009 (2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2009, and so on): If you experience this issue on a Mac, disconnect third-party devices, hubs, spare cables, displays, reset the SMC, and then try to restore. If you are using a Windows computer, remove all USB devices and spare cables other than your keyboard, mouse, and the device, restart the computer, and try to restore. If that does not resolve the issue, try the USB issue-resolution steps and articles listed for Error 1604 above. If the issue persists, it may be related to conflicting security software.

After forgetting the password for my iPhone, I am trying to restore it through iTunes, however, during the process, the phone keeps turning on and asking for the password, thus canceling the process. Any advice?

Yes, you will still get the prompt.
I meant reset then try the recovery mode restore again.
You can also try DFU Mode.
DFU (Device Firmware Update) Mode is different than Recovery Mode.
DFU Mode is a special mode where the device can still interface with iTunes, yet it does not load the iBoot bootloader.
    DFU Mode:
Plug your device into your computer.
    Turn off the device.
Hold the Power button for 3 seconds
Hold the Home button without releasing the Power button for 10 seconds
Release the Power Button but keep holding the Home button
Keep holding the Home button until you are alerted by iTunes saying that it has detected a device in Recovery Mode
NOTE: Make sure the device screen is blank and no logos are present. Be patient, it make take several trys.

Has the phone been officially unlocked by the provider before? Only the provider can unlock the phone, if the phone has been jailbroken to unlock it, restoring will lock it again.

  • Back up cannot be used to restore I pod touch

I tried to download latest software for my I Pod Touch after prompt that new software was available but an error must have occurred during the process as the "connect to I Tunes" screen appeared. I did a restore to factory settings and then tried to use the last back up to restore all my things like notes, calendar, etc but although it started to restore it, it stopped during it and a message came up to say that it cannot be completed as an error occurred - now what can I do? I really want my notes back and don't want to have to download the music again manually - any suggestions?

I would retry the restore. Also, music (and some other things) are not stored in the backup. Instead they are "added" to the iPod by syncing which occurs after restoring from backup.

  • I forget the lock code and now I can not access the iphone. What I can do?

I forget the lock code and now I can not access the iphone. I try to restore it, but ask me to go to iphone settings to which I have no access and I can not download the latest version of iOS to do it.
    Thanks!

If you have a passcode to the screen lock that you've forgotten, restore the device from the computer to which the device is synced. For information and instructions, see:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1212
If that will not work, you'll need to put the device into Recovery Mode and then try the Restore again:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808
If that still doesn't work, as a last resort try DFU mode:
    http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=1034
If your device is running iOS 7 and you set up Find My iPhone (iPad/iPod),  however, then it has the Activation Lock on it and you'll need to enter in your Apple ID and password to activate the device after restoring:

How do I sync my 3rd gen ipod touch after installing the latest version of itunes?

Correction: Thank you FoxFifth for the good information. I did find this information earlier before landing here in the support community. I have come to the end and I am uncertain about trying to reset my I-pod touch to the factory settings. I was satisfied with the older version of i-tunes. Can someone direct me how to downgrade i-tunes perhaps?

  • Forgot passcode need to restore I pod touch

I go into to restore my I pod touch, I get the restore screen hit ok and then it takes me to restore and update I click ok it tells me i need to update the Iso so I click next starts do download everything looks good but instead of staying on the summary page where the restore is it takes me to the place where my music is listed and the passcode lock is still on the i pod help me please.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

  • I have just restored my ipod touch after being disabled.  Now it is asking for pasword, can I cancel this so I don't have to use a password?

I have just restored my ipod touch after being disabled. Now it is asking for the passcode?  I still cant remember the passcode.  How do I go past this?

You'll have connect in recovery mode and set it up "as new ipod" http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone and iPod touch software.
If the issue continues after updating and restoring your device, refer to this document.

I just updated my iPhone 4 to iOS6.  In the process, I ran into a problem and had to restore factory settings.  After syncing the phone, I see that 218 apps need to be updated. When selecting "update all," it says "Cannot Download.  There is not enough available local storage to download these items.  You can manage your local device storage usage in Settings."
How can this be the case when I haven't changed any apps from before updrading to iOS6, and I don't have any music yet on the phone?  Why is it telling me there is not enough local space?

    Hi RileyAvaCadenRiver,
If you recently updated your iPhone to iOS7, you will need to update iTunes on your computer to iTunes 11.1 or newer for it to correctly recognize the iPhone. You may find the following link helpful:
