Restoring iCloud's iPhone Backup to an iPod Touch

Hi there.
My last birthday wasn't precisely the best, as I got my iPhone 4 stolen.
Had to deal with an Android device which isn't nearly as good as what I was used to have, so I decided to buy this fancy iPod Touch 4G 64 gb until the new iPhone arrives and see how it fares. My idea is to leave the Android phone only to make/answer calls and tether internet to the iTouch.
Problem is, I was thinking about restoring the stolen iPhone's iCloud backup to the iPod Touch so I didn't have to fiddle around with settings and stuff (and to not loose all my Chrono Trigger's advance ), but can't seem to be able to do that. I'm aware that those two are different devices and some things wouldn't work (like whatsapp without a proper mobile number), but it seems like a nonsense to me if you can't transfer the backup between two devices that are more or less the same.
I hope someone knows if there's a way to restore my iPhone's backup to the iTouch.
Thanks in advance.

Well, I finally managed to do that, weird thing is I had to wipe and restore the iPod Touch's and sync it with iCloud at the very beggining of the setup, obviously whatsapp doesn't work with the iTouch so it got automatically deleted, but for everything is Ok, I find the iTouch to be a tad slower than the iPhone though and miss the flash, but that's how it goes by now.

  • Can I restore Notes from my iPhone backup to my iPod Touch?

    Hi folks
I regularly backed up my company iPhone contents to iCloud (wifi), including Notes. I have now given up my company phone but had some personal Notes on it. Is there any way that I might be able to get specifically at the iCloud backup of Notes and restore it my personal iPod?
I don't have the laptop any more which I was manually backing up the iPhone too - new job!
No point doing backups that you can't get at to restore, huh? Lesson learnt!
When I log in to iCloud, it shows the standard apps but there is nothing there - no data at all. I'm assuming that's ebcause I never used the iCloud versions of those apps (if that is actually different!).
When I try to enable iCloud on my iPod, it asks me to create an @icloud.com email address, even while Settings knows the normal email associated with my Apple id, which it shows under Settings>>iCloud>>Account.
I would really be grateful for help; I'm looking to retrieve interview notes that I had made on the iPhone .
    Thanks in advance!

If you kept notes in iCloud, you should be able to access them at iCloud.com > notes on any computer.
If however those notes aren't there and you wish to try restoring from an old back up, you may find results are hit and miss and the process of trying isn't all that straight forward.
The difficulty in restoring iCloud data from a back up is that the back up is older than the current version on iCloud and anything that is restored gets removed again when an iCloud sync occurs. I have previously suggested ways to recover contacts, calendars etc, and other users have confirmed that they work, as such I am making the following suggestions to recover lost notes, but please note, as yet success is unconfirmed.
Recovering your notes is quite time consuming, you may wish not to save all your notes to save some time, if they are not of importance.
Ensure the device is connected to your local network.
Start the restore from iCloud back up.
Allow the devices settings to restore (watch for the confirmation of completion).
As the apps begin to restore pull the connection to your router WAN port (the one that goes to the telephone point).
Wait for the time out confirmation.
Open the 'Notes' app, and open your first note (assuming your deleted notes have now been restored).
Select the share option at the foot of the screen (rectangle with arrow) and choose mail.
Send the email to yourself (If they won't send, save them to draft)
Repeat steps 7 & 8, until you have copied all the notes you wish to save to email.
Reconnect the router to the internet and let the restore process complete.
Navigate to settings > iCloud and make sure 'Notes' syncing is enabled.
Open the 'Notes' app, check that iCloud notes have reverted to how they were before starting the restore.
Open the 'Mail' app and open the first email you sent yourself and copy the text you want in the note.
Open the 'Notes' app and create a new note in the iCloud, paste the text you copied.
Go to iCloud.com on a computer and check that the note has synced to iCloud.
Repeat steps 12, 13 & 14 until you have recovered all your notes.
May I suggest that you carry out a back up to iTunes before you try anything, that way should things become even worse, you can at least restore back to where you are now.

  • How do I get content from my old iPod Touch to my new iPhone 5?  My iPod Touch is too old to use iCloud

How do I get content from my old iPod Touch to my new iPhone 5?  My iPod Touch is too old to use iCloud. I have activated the phone but am stick at the point of the set-up where my 3 choices are:
    1. Set up as new phone
    2.  Restore from icloud Backup
    3.  Restore from iTunes Backup
    thanks!

If your iPod touch music is in your iTunes library, you just need to sync the new iPod nano with iTunes, the songs will be transfer to your new iPod. If not, you can follow this guide to transfer the songs from iPod touch to iTunes first, and then re-sync them to your new iPod. Hope it helps. Feel free to email me if you need further help.

  • I did a backup on my iPod touch and it said it worked...but now it won't let me access anything and says "iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode.  You must restore this IPod before it can be used."  I will lose all my videos and pics if I do that

I did a backup on my iPod touch last night and it said it worked...I wanted to make sure my 1100 pictures and videos, mostly of my son, were safe since we rarely use the iPod touch anymore since we bought an iPad...I can't find them or I have no idea how to access them...I do not have a MAC...I have an HP computer with windows...
Now when I try to use my iTunes a message comes up that says my iPod is on recovery mode and has to do a restore to use my iTunes again...so when u click on that it states that pushing that button will restore my iPod touch to its factory settings...which means I will lose all my data...which I CANNOT do bc the videos of my son are some of his first words, first giggles, etc.
Now my iPod is stuck on a screen with a picture of a USB cord and an iTunes icon... and holding the power and push buttons down at the same time does nothing except bring up the apple icon for a moment and then it goes right back to the USB and iTunes icon
When I called Apple they said in order to talk to tech support I had to pay a fee of 19 dollars...which I think is kind of crap...I paid over 300 dollars for this and all I want is somebody to help me access my pics...I have done nothing wrong...this iPod was never dropped and never broke...I did the backup like I was supposed to and now I have an IPod touch that does nothing, and if my library of pics and videos are on my computer, I have no clue where or how to view them or back them up onto DVD....
I'm very upset and frustrated...please help!!!

You should really read the manual.
"How do you restore from backup? "
Restore.  When given the choice, choose to use backup.
"And how can I check to see if the pics and videos are on my computer somewhere first??"
They would only be where you put them.  What program did you use to import them?  Pics/vids taken with ipod are not part of the sync process at all.  You should be importing them just as you would with any digital camera.
If you did not import them, then they are not on your computer.

  • How do I restore my iPhone? It has iPod touch information on it (pictures, keyboard is different - no more special symbols, etc.)

How do I restore my iPhone? It has iPod touch information on it, like old pictures that I had on my iPod touch (which I don't use anymore), and the keyboard has changed. Before I could use special icons and symbols, and now it's just basic (no shapes or anything). Is there any way to restore my iPhone to the condition that I bought it in? I don't want to have to buy another one, since I just got it.
I also recently changed my Apple ID and password...could this have anything to do with getting my iPhone messed up?

Setting up your phone "as new device" is described here: How to set up your iPhone or iPod touch as a new device
Apps and other media from iTunes can only be used with the iTunes account they were bought with.

  • Does iCloud sync videos taken on my iPod touch?

Can anyone please tell me if iCloud syncs videos taken on my iPod touch and if so, where do I find them?  Thank you.

Videos and photos in your camera roll are backed up when you back up to iCloud. However back up is for restoring your iOS device, you cannot selectively access or restore individual files in the iCloud backup.

  • When I try to delete my account from my iPod it says "If you delete your account, all documents and Photo Stream photos stored in Icloud will be deleted from this iPod touch"  Will I lose my pictures on my iPod?

I changed my email on my computer for my itunes and icloud.  It made me manually change it on my ipod even after I synced.  It won't change my email for my icloud and I have to delete it manually.  "If you delete your account, all documents and Photo Stream photos stored in Icloud will be deleted from this iPod touch" comes up. Will I lose all my data stored on my iPod?

You will only lose your iCloud data, That includes iCloud backup, iCloud Contacts and Calendar, Reminders, Notes, everything listed in Settings>iCloud

  • Can i delete songs from ipod touch once i upload them to icloud, can i delete songs from ipod touch once i upload them to icloud

once you upload songs, photos or documents fron ipod touch to icloud, can you delete them from ipod touch to free up memory from ipod touch and can you access them from icloud without downloading to ipod?

You can't upload music to iCloud unless you are an iTunes Match subscriber, and if you are the songs are uploaded or matched from the iTunes library on your computer, not your device.  Photos are only uploaded to Photo Stream temporarily (30 days), for up to 1000 photos so it's not meant to be a permanent storage option.  The uploaded photos are also generally of lower quality than the originals on your device.  Also, only photos taken on your device after turning on Photo Stream are uploaded.  Finally, when you turn Photo Stream on, uploaded photos will be streamed back to your device in a Photo Stream album (so it actually uses some of your memory rather than saving it).  As for documents, only iWork documents are uploaded.
If you really want to free up storage on your device consider more permanent cloud storage services such as DropBox (which will handle photos and all documents).
