Restoring iPhone 4S issue number 4005 and 4013

Help please?

From that support article:
"If you continue to see error 4005, 4013, or 4014 when you restore your device, contact Apple for support."
Did "all of that"  include contacting Apple as instructed?

  • I recently inherited a restored iPhone 5 from my uncle and its needs a sim to be activated, could i use my friends sim just to activate my iPhone and then give the sim back once its activated without affecting his contract and later on get a sim ?

I recently inherited a restored iPhone 5 from my uncle and its needs a sim to be activated, could i use my friends sim just to activate my iPhone and then give the sim back once its activated without affecting his contract and later on get a sim for myself and a contract for me and it all be normal??? Thanks

The phone MUST have a SIM present in order for activation to complete. The process will not finish otherwise.
    For the OP:
If the iPhone 5 is locked to a carrier, you must use a SIM from that same carrier. Otherwise I think you would be OK borrowing the SIM to activate the phone.

  • Errors 4005 and 4013

Downloaded new software. When itunes extracts the software and connects to iphone it tells me (on a number of occasions) it is error either erre 4005 or 4013, and the iphone cannot be restored. I've tried everything suggest to fix. Any other ideas?

Well you are in recovery mode with is a separate read only partition because you normal operations system (iOS) is not bootable.  You can get out of recovery mode by installing an bootable iOS, but you are errors when trying to install a bootable copy.  So, you are doing all that you can possibly do to fix this issue.
If you have tried all of those steps, then you may need to get you iPhone serviced.  Do a google search for DFU mode and see if that helps at all (doubt it, but its worth a shot).

  • Restore iphone 5 to factory settings and then restore my data from backup

I have an iphone 5 running ios 7.0.6 which was installed over the air. I want to replace that over the air installation with a usb installed version. It appears that to do this I have to 'restore' my iphone back to factory condition which as I understand it will install the new ios, but also erase all of my data/apps/etc. If I make a backup of my phone prior to 'restoring' it, will I be able to then use my backup to restore all my stuff?
    Thanks!
    Bob

I have done the backup and restore several times to an iPad and an iPhone. I have never had a failure. Make certain your device is fully charged before you start.
I have done this to remove excessive "other" storage on the devices.

  • Restored iphone 4s to reset password and still locked?

I have an iphone 4s and had made a new password using letters not numbers. As soon as I had turned my phone off and tried to reenter and try my new password it was invalid. After many attempts at the new or old password I decided to just resore the iphone using the computer I have a backup of the iphone. I have made two attempts and everytime it restores the phone it comes back asking for the same passcode. I am using the method of hold down home button and connecting to computer. Please can someone explain in simple steps how to recover my phone?

Is it asking for your phone's passcode, or your Apple ID passcode? When you Restore a phone with iOS 7 installed you need to enter the passcode for the Apple ID that Find my iPhone was registered with. This is generally not the same as the phone lock passcode.

  • IPhone - Sync issue with Calendar and Outlook 2003

I have been syncing with no problem up to yesterday - now I can't sync my Calendar with my PC. It doesn't make any difference whether I make an entry in iPhone or Outlook. I have reset sync history in iTunes - no change.
The only thing that I can think of that I did out of the ordinary was to copy and paste my contacts into another contacts group in Outlook.
It would appear to be a problem with Outlook as the iPhone syncs with iCal and Address book on my G4 laptop.
    Appreciate your help.
    Alani

Outlook is definately a problem. Ive been at it for a couple of days going through this thread and others. Still not syncing.
What Apple has to realize is that windows people have different microsoft offices, i use 2000 because the schedule is shared between everyone, this is an addon in newer copys of office.
When i make a call or recieve a call i would like to see an option to add the caller to the schedule .. When your on the phone with the caller you can just hit a button and it brings you right to the calendar and enters the caller in the schedule where ever you place them.
Anyway i will keep at the sync thing for a while and see what happens. Nothing so far. l8r

  • 2.0 update--now my phone hangs at "Restoring iPhone software..."

I've read posts with lots of other problems regarding the update from 1.1.4 to 2.0, but I didn't see anything relevant to what I'm experiencing (it also appears as the Apple iPhone support forum is having some problems).
This morning I updated my iTunes to 7.7, as prompted. Then I plugged in my iPhone to charge, and was prompted to update my software, which I did. 95 minutes later, iTunes still says "Restoring iPhone software..." and I have the apple on the black screen on my phone, with the circling "in process" going round and round. (No beach ball of death on my computer screen, however.)
What do I do? I really need my phone to make some calls.

    Hello,
After reading about 2 hours worth of posts, the one thing that kept coming up was the issue of having to use a USB 2.0 PC card (my PowerBook is as old as the hills and only has 1.1 ports).
I finally unplugged it from my Mac and plugged it directly into my PC (luckily, I have a company-provided computer as well). 10 minutes later, I was updated and ready to go. I plugged the phone back into my Mac to restore and all was well.
If you are connecting your phone to a 1.0 or 1.1 USB port, OR connecting to a 2.0 port via a hub or a PC card, I would highly recommend using a different computer with a direct 2.0 port, for the update.
I have no problem syncing right now with my USB 2.0 PC card, but going forward, I will only install updates using my PC with a direct 2.0 port (until I can afford a new PowerBook).
I do wonder if I would have problems syncing if I had more stuff on my phone. Right now I'm only using about 2G of my 8G. Time will tell.
Good luck--I hope this solution works for you. I know how frustrating it can be.

  • Restored iPhone and Phone Number Disappeared!!

We restored our iPhone software and the phone number disappeared, and now the phone will not make or get calls!!
    Help!!

    Having the same issue.
First tried returning "Home" after email got hung up (frozen) connecting - didn't work. Then tried a hard reset (power & home button), it appeared to reset, but now hung up on the boot screen (apple icon), that flashes every once in a while. Tried a hard reset again, to no avail. Any ideas?

  • Trying to restore the phone and I get error messages 4005, or 4013.

My phone spontaneously died and went to the white apple with black background screen.  I hooked it up to iTunes and it said it needed to be restored, which I then started to perform but the phone seemed unresponsive after a while and a few times I got the error # 4005 and once 4013.  I'm not sure what else I can do to get the phone back to working condition.

        Hello dontknownuttin,
Help is right here, front and center! Let's get your iPhone 5s working properly again. May I ask what's the last action done on the device before you received the error messages? Also, is there any physical or liquid damage on the phone? What version of iTunes do you have installed? As you share the details then we can get your device working again.
    Thank you…
