Restoring iPhone backup to iPod touch?

Hi guys!
Due to hardware issues, I'm replacing my first generation iPhone with a used 1st generation iPod touch. Is it possible to save my progress in the applications I've used on my iPhone? I tried restoring my iPod touch from the iPhone's backup, but that didn't seem to bring the applications over--maybe I'm doing something wrong? Any suggestions?
Thanks!
~Lyssa

Restore your new iPod from the old device's backup.
If any application's progress or settings don't transfer, this is most likely the fault of the developer and you'll need to contact him/her for what to do.
In my case, the 4 apps that didn't transfer were all from the same developer, who cannot be reached!

  • Is it better to register iPhone on iTunes or restore backup from iPod Touch

I just got an iPhone 3gs. When I plug it into computer USB and iTunes is open, iTunes asks me if I want to register it as new iPhone or if I want to restore from my last iPod Touch backup. I'm not sure which one I should do, because I actually do want to transfer all the apps from my iPod Touch to my phone as well. So if I choose restore from backup, all the apps would be placed on the phone, correct? But I'm not sure if iTunes will or will not recognize my phone as a phone afterwards. Will it recognize it as the iPod Touch after that?
    I basically need to know:
    A) If I should register or restore from backup
    B) How to transfer apps from iPod Touch to iPhone [I did already transfer all purchases to iTunes from iPod Touch]
    C) How do I transfer contacts from Outlook to my iPhone?
    Any help is MUCH appreciated!

set it up as a new device.

Try holding down one of the keys left of your Space bar when you click on the iPod icon. You should see a drop down menu, as in the picture below.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

  • Why can't I backup my iPod Touch?

In September, I was syncing my iPod Touch 2nd Gen with iTunes. After syncing it, a dialog box popped up saying that the backup could not be saved or the session could not be started. Then I tried to sync again but the same message appeared.
A couple weeks later, I synced my iPod Touch. Well, to be honest, it didn't even sync because iTunes said that it was starting to sync for more than an hour. So I ejected the iPod and restarted iTunes. After restarting it, everything worked out to be fine, except the backing up process.
So I then searched on Google for solutions to this problem (all of the methods I have taken are listed below), and it kinda worked. iTunes did start to backup but the progress bar was not moving at all, even after an hour so I gave up.
Every time I backup, I go to the back up folder to see if it's making any progress. It does back up, but only for a minute or so. As soon as I start syncing it, it starts to back up but then nothing else gets modified or created after 5 minutes of waiting.
Note: I don't want to restore my iPod because I don't have any back up to restore it from and I don't want to lose anything that is on there.
    What I have done:
-Deleted the backup via iTunes > Preferences > Devices
-Manually deleted the backup folder in AppData > Roaming > Apple Computer > MobileSync
    -Rebooted computer
    -Reset Warnings on iTunes

What happens when you try? Error messages? Apple says you can:

iCloud automatically backs up the most important data on your iOS 5 device. Once you have enabled Backup on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch in Settings > iCloud > Backup & Storage, it will run on a daily basis as long as your device:
is connected to Internet over Wi-Fi
is connected to a power source
    has the screen locked
You can also back up manually whenever your device is connected to Internet over Wi-Fi by choosing Back Up Nowfrom Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup.

  • How can I sync my iPhone 4S and iPod Touch 4G to ANY computer/itunes without having to erase EVERYTHING on it?

I need to use another laptop to sync my music, I've already synced my iPhone 4S and iPod Touch 4G with my laptop and had to delete EVERYTHING to do so! I refuse to do this again, I was NEVER able to restore my phone back to it's original state since then.
How can I sync up my idevices to ANY computer w/ iTunes without having to completely bomb my iphone and ipod? And if I can't do that, how can I back up all my music and apps? I've already tried "back up device" and that did absolutely NOTHING to help my predicament.
Long story short, I had my devices synced to my desktop, my desktop broke, so I bought a laptop, synced my devices to my laptop after erasing all my data, and my laptop was destroyed during hurricane sandy, so now I have to use my parents/friends computers to sync new music and videos. BUT CAN'T BECAUSE MY DEVICES WERE ALREADY SYNCED TO MY LAPTOP AND DESKTOP!
If I can get ANY help, I would greatly appreciate it.

It means that nano was used on a third-party software or synced from different computer to sync music. Does that nano show in iTunes? If yes, then restore completely. If not, then you may need to head to Apple Store and see what they can do.

  • I've done an update on 7/25/11 as requested by itunes since I've done the update I've lost all my music and videos; also I've lost my USB drivers. What can I do to restore my 2nd Gen Ipod touch to factory?

I've done an update on 7/25/11 as requested by Itunes. Since I've done the update I've lost all my music, videos and icons. I also can't connect to any PC via the USB port. What can I do to restore my 2nd Generation Ipod Touch back to factory?

I also have a 2nd generation iPod and when the new version was being advertised on the home page, I clicked on it. And I saw that the update was compatible with iPod touch 3rd and 4th generation, iPad 1 and 2, and all the iPhones. But it wasn't compatible with iPod touch 2nd generation. So you downloaded an update which wasn't compatible with your iPod. I'm sorry.
