  • Secure link to iTunes Store Failed, Can't restore iPhone.

    Good day,
Am hoping to get some help please. We recently upgraded our desktop from Windows XP to Windows 7. Re-installed all the software as well as iTunes 10.
All has been working fine, up until yesterday. The playlist which we where syncing with the iPhone 3G, had been changed and we wanted to sync the changes to the phone.
When preforming the sync, it got to the point where it said "Finishing Sync" in iTunes, the phone said "Sync in Progress" and iTunes froze completely. (Not Responding) Left it for about 30mins, after which it still said the same. I rebooted the machine and the phone, and tried again with the same error. I then tried removing all music and videos from the phone. Same problem.
My last resort was to attempt a restore of the phone. It started the restore and eventually got to a point where iTunes came up with the error 2003, unable to restore iPhone, the phone was now stuck in restore mode with the iTunes Logo and USB plug on the main screen.
So off to the iStore to get it fixed. The phone was reformatted/restored there and was working fine but I did not have any contacts/messages or photos on the phone, so I attempted another restore, so I could get my info back. It came up with the same issue again. Error 2003.
I then started browsing around and found out the iTunes diagnostics, it fails every time on the "Secure link to iTunes", iTunes has been added to the Windows firewall, I have tried un-installing my AntiVirus software and trying it with again but same result. I have checked the ports are all open. I have tried to reset my hosts file. I have reset my internet explorer settings, but nothing is working.
Can anybody help me out with this please.
Below is the copy of the diagnostics log created the last time I ran it:

The results show that you have a proxy server set and this can often cause problems with iTunes.
The proxy setting can be accessed in Internet options>>Connections>>LAN Settings.
Try un-checking the proxy server check box.
It might also be a good idea to run a malware check if you didn't know you had the proxy server set.
You can download a free version of an excellent scanner- Malwarebytes here:

    Hey kartbeat2001,
Thanks for the question. The following article provides relevant information in regards to Error 2000:
iTunes: Specific update-and-restore error messages and advanced troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3694
    Error 2000-2009 (2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2009, and so on)
If you experience this issue on a Mac, disconnect third-party devices, hubs, spare cables, displays, reset the SMC, and then try to restore. If you're using a Windows computer, remove all USB devices and spare cables other than your keyboard, mouse, and the device, restart the computer, and try to restore. If that doesn't resolve the issue, try the USB issue-resolution steps listed for Error 1604 above. If the issue persists, it may be related to conflicting security software. If the errors persist on another computer and known-good USB cable, the device may need service.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

You may need a new battery, or your battery gauge may need to be recalibrated. To recalibrate:
When it shuts off above 1%, charge for just a minute or two, then restart (hold HOME and SLEEP until an Apple logo appears). Deliberately run the battery down until the phone shuts off at 1%. If it shuts off above 1% repeat the above until you get to 1%. Then charge for 4 hours with the wall charger without using the phone. This process will recalibrate the battery gauge.
To prevent this from happening again about once a month run the battery all the way down to 1%, then continue until the phone shuts off. Apple recommends this in their battery help article, but they don't say why you should do it. The have some hokum about "keeping the electrons moving." Honestly! The iPad battery tip gives the correct reason.

Attempt to restore your iOS device two more times. If the issue is still unresolved, the device may need service.

  • My iPhone 4 service always go off how can I service

My iPhone 4 service always go off how can I solve?

    Hey there,
It sounds like your phone is constantly losing connection to your cellular provider. I recommend these troubleshooting steps to help resolve the issue:
    iPhone: Troubleshooting No Service
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts4429
Turn iPhone off and then on again.
Remove the SIM card and verify that it's a valid, carrier-manufactured SIM. Also verify that it isn't damaged, worn, or modified. Then reinsert it.
Check for a carrier-settings update. Connect to a Wi-Fi network. Then tap Settings > General > About. If an update is available, iOS will ask you if you want to install it. If Wi-Fi isn't available, connect your device to iTunes.
Update your iPhone to the latest version of iOS.
Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This will reset all network settings, including Bluetooth pairing records, Wi-Fi passwords, VPN, and APN settings.
    Restore the iPhone.
If you're still experiencing No Service issues, contact your carrier to check for any network or account issues that could cause these symptoms.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,
    Sterling

I want to restore iphone 4s and i have the error 21.How cand i solve yhis issue?

    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3694#error21
These errors typically occur when security software interferes with the restore and update process. FollowTroubleshooting security software issues to resolve this issue. In rare cases, these errors may be a hardware issue. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.
Also, check your hosts file to verify that it's not blocking iTunes from communicating with the update server. See iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting—follow steps under the heading Blocked by configuration (Mac OS X / Windows) > Rebuild network information > Mac OS X > The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store. If you have software used to perform unauthorized modifications to the iOS device, uninstall this software prior to editing the hosts file to prevent that software from automatically modifying the hosts file again on restart.

  • Waiting for Activation message appears after restoring iPhone.

    Hello!
I recently restored my iPhone and now it will not connect to any network towers. It keeps saying that I have no service when I usually always do. And it only allows me to connect to wifi. Any suggestions on what to do?

Jenger, thank you so much for trying that out for us. This does seem a little odd to me. I would love to make sure we get you up and running with no issues. Do you have the most current iTunes downloaded on the computer? What I would try to do is try to place the phone into recovery mode through iTunes. The way you can complete this is by powering the phone off all the way. Have the USB plugged into the computer. Plug the device into the USB charger while you are pressing and holding the home button. Keep that home button held down until it pops up on iTunes that "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes". then you will press on Ok, and then Tap on Restore iPhone, then select "Restore and Update" Please keep us posted.

  • Restoring IPhone

I tried to restore my Iphone, but it keeps sending me an error message: The Iphone could not be restored, unknown error occured (1604)
My phone will not even turn back on. It just shows the Itunes Icon with a connection cord.

I to have been having a similar problem. I was having lots of issues syncing my iphone to my music and pictures and videos and basically everything so I decided to do the restore and it has had the "Restoring iPhone Software" bar for the last couple of hours and it has not done anything. I never tried to unlock it and I have att phone service. I don't know what the heck is the problem or why it won't even restore. Thing is becoming to be more of a hassle than benefit because now I don't even have a phone.

  • When restoring my iPhone, do I used Restore backup or just Restore iPhone

My iPhone has been acting up lately, so I talked to my service provider and they suggested I Backup and Restore my iPhone. I have backedup my iPhone and now I need to Restore it. Which Restore button do I use on Itunes? Restore Backup or Restore iPhone?

What do you want to have on your iPhone ? If you want the content copied back onto it then restore the backup, if you want the phone to be empty (i.e. factory defaults) then just restore iPhone.
Have you copied your purchases off your phone over to your computer's iTunes via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases ? If not then you should do that first, not all purchases can be redownloaded (e.g. audiobooks and ringtones are one-time only downloads ; other items are only redownloadable depending upon where you live and whether the item is still in your country's store).

i am trying to restore iphone 4, but it wont let me, it keeps giving error message 2001, please help me anyone

    Error 2000-2009 (2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2009, and so on)
If you experience this issue on a Mac, disconnect third-party devices, hubs, spare cables, displays, reset the SMC, and then try to restore. If you are using a Windows computer, remove all USB devices and spare cables other than your keyboard, mouse, and the device, restart the computer, and try to restore. If that does not resolve the issue, try the USB issue-resolution steps and articles listed for Error 1604 above. If the issue persists, it may be related to conflicting security software. If the errors persist on another computer and known-good USB cable, the device may need service.

  • Strange solution for iOS 4.3 Error 9 (got at "restoring IPhone firmware")

After my iPhone 4 was stuck between iOS 4.3 installation failure and restoring of iOS 4.2.1 Apple Service men tested it and confirmed a hardware problem. Now I'm given brand new one.
From what I see another guy had reported same here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2777023&start=0&tstart=30
Some other people also reported encounter with same problem - Error 9 during Restore at "restoring iPhone firmware".
The solution is the best for the customers, but to me it sounds very strange that a software update can cause hardware damage. There is something fishy here.
Anyway, affected fellows: Do not waste your time. Go to nearest Apple Service.
